The Dakshin Bhag Mosque, or locally known as “Mukambazar Masjid” is a very old mosque that dates back centuries. Location: It is located in Mukambazar, Dakshin Bhag, Bhadeshwar, Golapganj, Sylhet. Surroundings: The Mazar of Shah Putla and another Pir. And the the Mukam (graveyard) (Where Mukambazar gets its name from), to it's south. The Mosques pond to the west, the Bazar (Market) to the north, and the road to it's west. After the Pond and the Mukam, the Mosque is completely surrounded by the Bazar, many shops one after another. Pond: The Pond has the fish that are found in Shah Jalal's dargah. People love to feed them. When the massive flood hit Mukambazar, with the rest of Sylhet, the fish reportedly got separated. People reported that when people found the fish in near by water bodies, and returned the fish to the pond, all the fish started jumping in happiness. This Pond is also used to make “Wudu [وضوء]”. But the Mosque has many taps for make “Wudu” so it's less used. The Mukam: The Mukam or the graveyard has the Mazars of some pirs, and graves of many people. It's a very big Mukam. And people come from all around to visit the Mazars. History of the Mosque: The mosque was established by Shah Putla himself. It was very small for most of it's history. But recently the Mosque was built to a massive scale, and is currently being expanded. Currently the Mosque is 3 stories tall. People flock to the Mosque during prayer time, especially during “Jummah bar/ Shukkurbar/Shukrobar [يوم الجمع]”, or Friday day praying. Age: The mosque is very old reaching back to the time of Shah Jalal, The Bengal Sultanate, The Baro Bhuyyas in Sylhet, and The Mughal Empire. The Mosque reaches back to almost more the 5 centuries old! This Mosque is extremely old, it's estimated to be somewhat like 500 years old. This is possibly the oldest Mosque in Golapganj. Shah Putla: One of the three sons of a disciple of Shah Jalal, Syaed Aladdin. Commonly known as Shah Putla. Sayed Bahauddin: He is a disciple of Shah Kamal Quhafah.

Everyday early morning and in the evening fisher mans come with various kind of Local sweet water fish which they catch over the the night or buy for buisness, but you have to have a huge bergain to buy fish with apprpriate price.

Im a local of this area, this Masjid/Mosque has fish which are referred to as miracle fish, they bury the fish just like they bury Muslims. Very nice masjid in a very nice neighborhood.
