I have low requirements to my hair salon, but I warn you of going to this place. First, most pics from Google are not actually of this place. The place is small and much less fancy that the random pics from the web that they apparently added by themselve. I bought a coupon for a haircut, blowdry and style. I was half of hour late, and my haircutter (young indian girl) started arguing with another one whether she should do me. Then she warned that she can cut but probably will not have time for blowdry. I agreed because I just really did not want to travel there again (it's quite far for me), and I just don't care that much. There was a moment when she was doing something quite painful, and I told her about it, for which she answered quite annoyed "It's not painful, everybody does it". No, they don't. And no, it's not what you tell your client in this situation. When her next client came while she did not finish with me yet, she basically started shouting and arguing with another haircutter, who's fault it is. When I was about to leave, they told me I have to pay $3 tax despite my coupon. They told it's owner's word and if I don't believe them, I can call the owner. Before leaving I asked another haircutter if she could dry me. They started shouting and arguing again, and asking whether she warned me or not that there will not be time for a blowdry. Ended up asking to do it by myself, they asked the third girl (who is probably doing nails and is the only normal person there) and left thinking that I wouldn't go there again even for free. P.S. She was doing my haircut from the picture I showed her and I guess she had no idea how should it look like on the back side, so I looked in the mirrors later, and it's mess.

0 stars: I called to make appointment- spoke to Nelly and she quote me: 75$ for haircut, color of my roots & blowout. Once I was sitting down after one of her hair specialist brush my hair & put Vaseline around my face, Nelly came over & said: I’m sorry but I cannot give you the price I quote you because you have a lot of hair (I’m white) I can do it for $120 if u want. I told her: u should have told me that because I could have just gone to a different salon, this to much $ 4 me. Her stylist asked me to stay and she will talk to her. But Nelly refused to take me for the price she originally quoted me for...So I had to leave...This is Nelly hair salon 4 u, very unprofessional to say the least... Respond to owner (9/7/19): It's ok Nelly, you don't have to worry I'm not planning to come back again, so you don't have to worry about dealing with someone with a "lots of hair" or someone who didn't read the "Fine Print", when was the last time I been there? Maybe 3-4 years ago??? and by the way, I end up going to a different Salon in Brooklyn & they did such an amazing job (In an hour & 45 minutes- for my so called Long Natural hair) of coloring my whole hair + Cut + Blow Dry that I end up paying extra $$$ just for their excellent service. So in the end it all worked out for the best for me...

I don't usually leave reviews but this had me worked up! I've been to this place a few times to get my nails done and every time it's the same thing. This lady, Arina I believe her name is, is the most rude person I've ever met. I went to get a Maricure a few days back and she noticed I've gotten engaged. She then proceeded to ask me about some bangels I was wearing and commented how those bangels were Indian. I said yes, my fiancé is Indian and he gave them to me. This lady spent the rest of the maricure trying to talk me out of getting married literally. She was so concerned with the fact that my fiancé is a Hindu and I am a Christian to the point that it became rude and just so out of place. I'm not coming to get a maricure so you can talk to me about religion! That's not what I came here for! I'm never ever coming back here again ... if you ever go there for a maricure be prepared to hear her life story and all about Catholicism. This lady is crazy!

Great place to get a haircut at a fantastic price. I get my haircut at Nelly’s about once a month and I have been happy with every cut. Nelly knows what she is doing and she always makes sure I am happy with the cut. Nelly is accommodating with appointments and she gives a very efficient haircut. I recommend Nelly’s to my friends because of the great haircut and truly unbeatable price. Nelly is also extremely nice and is a pro at communication. I appreciate when I can just doze off in the chair, get a great haircut and be on my way in 25 minutes or less. I cannot say enough positive things about Nelly’s. If you are in Fidi looking for a haircut it is a no brainer, and it is a ~2 minute walk from the South Ferry or Rector st subway station. Thanks Nelly!

Hidden jewel! I found Nelly's Hair Salon on Google Maps because I needed a blowout. At first, all I saw were either barber shops or completely overpriced salons with no clients in sight. Then I got lucky. Nelly's prices are a great value and if you ask for Chi Chi you'll find the salon's secret weapon. She's super talented, experienced, detail oriented, and excellent at achieving exactly what you want. I went back the following week for a cut and color, and she exceeded my expectations. Days later, the compliments haven't stopped. My color is beautiful, the cut perfectly frames my face, and my hair shines. I highly recommend her and Nelly's Salon!

Got a haircut, shampoo, deep conditioning & style. Definitely excellent value for the price, especially in this neighborhood. The quality of her work is legitimately very good, and my hair is really thick and not naturally straight - I was not expecting this much at all. The style lasted and looks awesome for days after. She didn’t even use an iron & just the blowout is holding the curls at the bottom. The last time I got my hair only washed & styled in this neighborhood, it cost me 1 and a half times the price I paid here and the style didn’t even hold through the evening. Thanks Nelly!

Okay. i went to the hair salon and it’s a 10/10. Now let me review the nail salon. the nail salon is the WORST nail salon i’ve ever been to. I did my nails there OVER a month ago and EVERY SINGLE one of my nails broke, mind you i take immaculate care of my nails. It’s a month and a half later and my nails have broke so bad i’m still unable to do them because they are so weak and still growing. i’ve had some of my nails break half way where half of my skin was out. ugh. i’m so disappointed and i paid $65.00, never again. the lady was nice and salon was cute but her work was awful.

So guys, yesterday I was looking up on barber shops close to my area. I came across Nelly's Hair and Nail Salon. I called, got onto Nelly herself and was able to get an appointment for the same day. The environment was very welcoming. They even offered me some chocolate while I waited. She took her time with my hair and ensured that I felt comfortable.I am very happy with the work that she did. The fact that she didn't rush, and treated my hair as if it was hers; made me feel quite calm. Thank you so much. She's definitely my go to gal for haircuts now. ❤️

Horrible experience !!! Went there yesterday with Groupon bout her for hair cut, the lady nelly told me to cancel the voucher , and pay it there. And she was rushing a lot- she had another customer coming. Not sure why she took me in the first place. While washing my hair she managed to spray water in my ear and my cloths. And my hair cut was horrible in the end . Never ever go to this place. They used to be good - now they know nothing

Needed a wash and blow dry and Arelis did an amazing job!! This salon is small and very reasonably priced. My hair is really thick so other hairdressers I've been to really struggle to get my hair straight and it usually takes them an hour and a half sometimes 2 hours. I asked Arelis if I could have a blunt look and she gave me exactly the look I wanted and in just 45 mins! She did such a great job! Thanks Arelis. I'll be back!

So- called Chi chi gave me a haircut in less than 5 minutes and insisted to make curls for me. It looked reasonable when I left but the next day when I washed and straighten my hair I saw that the haircut is horrible and she also burnt my hair in the back while using hair styler. The front part of the hair is a joke. Absolutely uneven. I contacted the place to go fix my hair. I don't know how these people open a salon.

I was very disappointed with my nails. My nails look as if they are 2weeks old and I just paid $30.for a manicure. I'm soooo disappointed. There's no way my cuticles should look as if my nails were done 2weeks ago, they were not shaped right. I don't mind paying for a manicure but it should be worth the money and my manicure was not worth $30.

No frills, awesome salon! The people complaining about pricing are ridiculous or delusional.... Nelly's is by far the most inexpensive place in the area. They aren't concerned with being fancy or Instagram worthy (meaning the salon isn't modern) but it's clean and the beauticians are really talented, nice and very accommodating!

Very happy with my first visit to the salon. Nelly is very professional, friendly and an expert at cutting hair. Also, the salon is very large and spread out (good for distancing) and lots of sanitation / hygiene measures were taken (face masks, cleaning, sanitizing wipes). Would strongly recommend this place to others!

At Nelys salon one of the emploies did my nails and did a terriable job, she made me leave the chair when my nails were still wet, along with getting pait all over the top and sides of my nail. Along with Nely walking around bare footed. Plus the color selection was absolutely terriable. I would never go there!

I went there do get a hairstyle and they did anything but that. She did not do what I asked her and the hairbrush weren't even clean. And she kept pulling on my hair, and when she was taking rubber bands out she would pull chunks of hair would not recomend

I took my eight year old in for a haircut. I was apprehensive being the overbearing mom I am. She did an excellent job! It came out great; my daughter loves it. The place is nice and clean. It was not hard to get to, and she was pleasant.

This is the best salon in lower Manhattan! I had a cut, styling and blow dry by Nelly - she was so nice, the salon was very clean and comfortable, and most importantly I LOVED how my hair turned out. I’ve never seen it look so good.

This hair salon is very clean, Nelly and Lolly are very friendly. Lolly did my hair today with a lot of patience and care, I have long wavy/curly hair. They all wear masks and check your temperature as screening protocol.

Staff was quite rude & refused to accept the groupon at the time of payment and made the situation very embarrasing. Wouldn’t have even tried their services if not for the coupon.

Excellent spot for a quick blowout (and very reasonable prices, especially for the neighborhood). Almost hidden...you go up to the 2nd floor. Friendly folks.
