I went down to the NYPD 5th Precinct to get help with a situation but they won't help me. Basically what I learned is that every precinct is connected and if someone wants to ruin your life that is connected with the NYPD or is NYPD they can shut you down from getting help from the whole NYPD in one shot. It doesn't matter how illegal what any civilian is doing to you or police officer is doing. It is 100% controlled, you have zero chance of finding an honest cop to help in a situation like mine. I have evidence of being injected in the hand, apartment and mailbox broken into dozens of times and a lot more. Anytime I go to get help, like when I went to the NYPD 5th Precinct, they start to listen and then a phone call comes in or someone walks in, takes whoever I'm taking with away for a minute or two and then they come back with we can't help. I used to hear about police corruption and it didn't register until now that it's happening to me. I've been to CCRB, Internal Affairs, in my humble opinion they are owned by the NYPD.
I was visiting the city for a few days and I was playing the fun game of "COUNT THE COP CARS" and keeping a tally. City hall was definitely amusing 'cause that's where all the action is, with the paparazzi and cameras... Other than that, I just can't believe how many random patrol cars were parked along the streets with no drivers inside. First guess is there is practically non-existing parking in the city, so they just park wherever they can and walk to work. Second guess is it's meant as a deterrent to scare muggers or hoodlums who might want to act up. Third guess is they were inside the businesses, but I doubt it. Total, I only saw 3 with actual cops inside. One was a white chick and the other two were black, brown or hispanic guys. Overall conclusion, it is a safe place to visit as a tourist. Unfortunately, I have to take 1 star off for not being able to find officer charming. But obviously, I don't think that could be done in 3 days. I would need at least 2-3 months, but that's assuming he's in this borough...
I lost a huge of money because of phone scam. My bank gave me this police department address so I could go there to do report. I never thought they were so rude and didn't want to accept my report and blamed on me because I answered the fraud and sent my money to the fraud. I know I was stupid to believe the fraud during the phone, but the police department has the responsibility to investigate the case and arrest these frauds. I am so sad and disappointed about this police department. No wonder there are so many evil poeple these days because cops never doing anything to them. I especilly disappointed about these two Chinese translator cops, they give no help at all. I think govement should kick out these cops and hire some real cops who can really help people!!!
My daughter's civil rights were violated concerning her domestic violence case, My grandson's father was allowed to falsify a complaint with this precinct after attending family court. The father was upset about my daughter filing a petition to receive child support and after leaving family court he decided to retaliate against my daughter by filing a false complaint at the 5th Precinct. Although my daughter provided credible evidence of her innocence she was still arrested on the false complaint.
While on a trip to NYC in June, my aunt and me went to this station to lodge a report about her stolen iPhone. Officer Chan was very polite and professional in handling our case, even though my aunt might be a bit loud in her hysteria and explanations, having just lost invaluable data in her phone. Our experience here certainly puts our impression of NYPD in a better light, unlike at 9th Precinct, where an officer waved our case over nonchalantly and let us wait while he chatted with his friends.
i called one time to get my report number, then i lost the number . Then i called again today on 10:30 am try to get it again. The lady pick up the phone with nasty attitude questioning :we already gave u the number ,u didn't write it down? i just want to comfirm the number ,then she just hang up. Very rude, Is she representing NYPD?Please don't hire people like this, hire someone with good upbring. I feel sorry for her, sorry for the 5th Precinct.
I had to go to the 5th Precinct to ask for help finding my car, and later to file a stolen car report. Everyone here was extremely helpful and pretty chill. One PO even tried to help me call all the numbers in order to track down the car's location for me. I can't thank him (and all other officers @5th Precinct) enough in helping me getting my car back! Courtesy, professionalism, respect... Absolutely!
Def refuse to deal with their Sr PAA. no need to be rude and have an attitude when I'm only asking questions to help me figure out what I need. Saying you're only trying to help when you're not even listening to me is NOT HELPFUL. get it together. You need to take some people sensitivity classes. If you treat regular things like this, i can't imagine a DV survivor.
Most people with negative reviews are biased complaints, pay attention and you will see. The staff at this precinct are polite, helpful, and very courteous when providing their service. Thank you, and sincerely my best wishes to stay safe.
I had an awful experience at the precinct last week. Walked in for the 4th time to comply with a detective’s request. The head guy -at least he said he was, lashed out at me in the most aggressive, male rage for asking a polite question.
I lost my passport, and had to visit to the 5th precinct. The officer was helpful and got done what I required on the spot, understanding my urgency. The visit ended with a friendly conversation. A positive experience.
They were useless when my bike was stolen in front of a security camera. Not at all focused on customer service. If they were in the business of helping citizens then they would be out of business already.
I called about a month everyday over 5times times a day to get the report but no one pick the phone and finally i could not get the report and insurance can't cover my loss without the report.
Very bad service I call more than 30 times no answer I felt bad. Stopped service still I am waiting for police reports 1 week gon I don’t get my report.
Oldest continuously operated police station in Manhattan, since 1881- This place is a NYPD time-capsule! Friendly and dedicated staff, willing to serve.
Saved my life and many other runaways in the 70's 60 year old grandmother had wonderful life thanks to wonderful officers at fifth precinct thank you
Had a project where we needed to interview an officer. Not great definitely didn't care. Dont recommend coming here unless you got arrested
Just speechless.. the domestic violence detective have advised the perpetrator to get a protection order against the victim.
Haven't answered phone for an hour, repeated calls to regular # or front desk. must be having a big nap. 07/17/2017
Harasses Chinatown residents and protected big developers by stressing and issuing fines to protestors.
Calling for an hour to get accident report number but nobody is answering, very painful.
I called the 5th precinect for 3days but still can't reach. No one work there?
