Nevertheless, cleanliness is definitely a priority at O'Hare. The airport maintains a high standard of cleanliness throughout, which is commendable considering the constant influx of travelers. The staff, although more aligned with the respective airlines, are generally friendly and helpful, adding a touch of warmth to the airport experience. Transportation to and from O'Hare can be a bit of a pinch on the pocket, especially when relying on Ubers or taxis. However, here's where O'Hare sets itself apart—the Blue Line provides an excellent and cost-effective mode of transportation to downtown Chicago for a mere $5. Moreover, arriving passengers can consider taking the train close to their hotel and then opt for an Uber ride, which tends to be comparatively cheaper when away from the airport premises. This two-step approach can be a savvy way to navigate the city without incurring hefty transportation expenses directly from the airport. This is strictly regarding the facilities. O’Hare is worse than a sewer. Sometimes you might think you’re in a sewer when you walk through ghastly odors. That’s just this dated, inefficient airport. It is rat free because rodents prefer actual sewers to this airport. While the new parking facility is great, it fills quickly. When you are able to get a spot the train might be running that day. If not, you’re screwed. They can’t scramble enough buses and drivers fast enough to make up for the demand (photo of the line attached). If you’re smart you’ll go to long term parking right at the terminal. Just look for the pile of rust. That’s where you park. When you get there don’t expect things to work. Elevators are frequently down and no one is working on them. That’s just O’Hare - a constant state of disrepair and disappointment. By the time you make it through security you’re probably running to catch your flight. Don’t trust that there is any speedy transportation available. Years ago the architects just figured your two legs would be enough. Even the one moving walkway in the place is constantly shut down. Why? Because it’s convenient and that’s not allowed here. Need to use the bathroom? Sorry you’re not wearing a hazmat suit. Portable toilets are better than what this airport offers. Need to grab some food? No Chicago staples here. Except for popcorn (eye roll emoji). Need a question answered? Good luck finding anyone and when you do you’ll find they know nothing. If this hadn’t been established as one of the busiest airports in the world decades ago, no airline would want to fly out of here. I would say to avoid at all costs but Midway is not much better and on the other side of town. Edit: there is always someone pretending to clean the bathrooms but then they leave feces all over the toilet. These are unusable. This place is disgusting!

As a US citizen, if you arrive at an airport that has the look and feel of a developing nation, but doesn’t require a passport and has no immigration checkpoints from your gate to baggage claim, don’t be confused, you might be at O’Hare. On arrival, I walked far enough in one direction past do not enter signs on moving walkways headed the opposite direction to think I had missed the signs to ground transportation, or at least missed the train to baggage claim. Nope. No train to baggage claim, just an unending walk in a narrow, constantly curving hallway until eventually there is a very narrow escape route to baggage claim and eventually the street…where they don’t let ride share pick you up despite all the airport signage indicating otherwise. Not to worry, there is one sign propped up against a bus shelter saying ride share has moved to terminal 2 and you need to take something called an ATS which is on a different level. No mention of what terminal or level you are currently at or on. Thankfully the third airport employee I found was able to assist, I had to go “up to the top and get on the train”. So I found options for going up, and boarded a train that mentioned terminal 2. It was here that I met other passengers from the same flight, one who had a friend in Chicago texting helpful information. Following the text messages and looking for coherent signage while going up and then down multiple levels, we found a train going to chicago and I abandoned my ride share quest entirely. Overall it was nice that I didn’t need a passport or have to exchange currency. And they get 4 stars because the Clear + Pre-check lines were efficient on the return. But in terms of airports, I wouldn’t consider O’Hare a joy to navigate.

Updated Review - 5/28/23: Arriving from Phoenix on Anerican Airlines... Terminal 3. Long walk to baggage claim, but our luggage arrived fast! Easy access to the Transportation Center. But this time I flew out of Gate B22. You can see from the pic I attached that Gates B20, B21, B22, B23, and B24 are all smashed at the end of the terminal in a space the size of my garage! It was crazy… hot… and super confusing! I would not wish it on anyone. Why does United they have a HUGE terminal…. and smash all these gates into one area?? It makes no sense! My rating went from 5 stars last time to 3 stars this time. —————————————————————————— You probably won’t hear this from many people…. but I love going to O’Hare. I normally park offsite to save some money. But everything in the airport is easy to find…. the ticket counters, TSA, the gates, and the restaurants. There is a good selection of places to eat. I mean, the negatives are because it IS a giant major airport....wait times, taxiing for 20 min to pull up to unload or take off, crowds, etc. But it's pretty easy to follow where you need to go and the information booths every where are super helpful. The other thing is changing gates all the time. My decision to switch flights until the next day was based on not being able to make a connection in time d/t the distance between gate. And then when I got there the gate was changed last minute to one closer and I could make it but now I was taken off the flight, so had to he on standby. Super inconvenient. I think thebairlines should board according the seats...a first, then b, etc. So you don't have to climb over people. Lots of stores in the airport! Designer ones and restaurants...Wolfgang puck for ex. My first time in O'Hara and I can say, I didn't hate it.

ORD has changed a lot since I last flew out of there. It's a lot cleaner than it used to be, and more organized. I checked in for my flight online. Security lines in the middle of the airport were packed so I walked down to the first security checkpoint by Spirit Airlines and got through in two minutes. Navigation to my international gate was pretty simple. Lots of new construction/renovation but that didn't hinder anything. Walking through the international terminal reminded me of Home Alone 2 and made me chuckle. There are lots of bars, restaurants, shops, and vending machines available along the way if you get a little peckish or forget something. FYI, if you forget your bluetooth earbuds like I did the cheapest replacements are at Hudson News for $35.

O'Hare is an absolute disaster, horrible airport. Truly one of the worst I have ever been in. It is hard to know where to start with complaints. $24 Bloody Mary leaps to mind (with tip, $28). Let that sink in. Waited for checked bags for an hour...kidjanot...an hour. When charging $24 for a Bloody Mary they should be able to afford baggage handlers. International Terminal...the newest terminal, was a disaster and in literal pieces. Honestly, the list is too long for here. The whole place is a collapsing 1970s mess. You see modern airports around the world...this ain't one. I know the airport is working to renew itself but we see none of it. At this pace I'm not sure anyone alive today will see it. I'd use Midway but it's even worse.

One of the biggest airports in the world . Make sure you know the terminal you fly departure or the terminal the fly arrives if you are going to pick up someone otherwise you will be a little lost because the place is huge. Once inside you have different options to eat or shop depending the terminal you are. Also remember that you can transfer terminals with the train inside the terminal. If you want to go the city with the train go to the terminal 3 and take the blue line. It will take you to different places to Chicago and the downtown in just 45 minutes. It cost 5 dollars the trip ( 2023 prices) . Also is a Hilton hotel outside the airport if you want spend the night closer to the airport.

Nice airport with plenty of shops for last-minute survivor. There are a few modern installment of fashion competition display which make traveling from one terminal to another more enjoyable. There is also kids playing area which looks great. One complaint I do have is that not all the outlet works. After trying to charge my phone for 30 mins, I discovered that the outlet I used did not charge. I tried out multiple ones as I searched for a working one, and it's pretty random. I talked to other passengers and many of them just found out that their device was not charged and not happy about it. Would be great to have more working outlet for all the travelers!

This is one of the worst airports in America. The 4 times we have flown out of Chicago there has always been some sort of problem. On this specific trip on the way from Chicago to San Fransisco we had over an hour delay and had to sit on the plane the entire time. The return trip from Tokyo to Chicago we sat on the runway for over an hour and 30 mins in the heat because someone was “in our parking spot” which is literally what they said over the PA on the plane. Come on after all the money these places make they can’t even direct traffic appropriately??? I never want to fly out of Chicago again. Atlanta is SO much better!!!! Mop

It’s our first time in this airport. Terminal 3 is huge. Extremely busy. Inspection was fast. Staff were courteous. Foodcourt offers a variety of meal choices. If you’re a McDonalds fan, you’ll be happy to pass through here. There are 2 chocolate shops I saw, and a popcorn shop too. Charging stations are available in the food court as well as in the gates. The seating in each gate is not enough for the big number of passengers. Close to boarding, you’ll see passengers standing on the hallway. Some gates are dimly lighted; light bulbs need to be replaced.

O’Hare really tries. Considering just how massive this airport is, the experience is overall to be expected. It is easy to get from the rental car drop off to the main terminals. It is NOT easy to get from baggage claim to the rental car pick-up. There is very little signage available and once on the trains, you have to rely on other passengers to tell you where to get off because rental cars are not announced. (It’s F by the way.) In Terminal 3 there is only one security line with TSA precheck.

If you are flying internationally avoid ORD at all costs. We had a 2.5 hour layover and waited with hundreds of people in the line 2 hours for customs. Needed to collect our checked bag and then recheck through to the next flight. A few people let us pass them in line. Of course we missed our flight. NO ONE ever checked to see if anyone in customs line had connections they might miss. NO ONE said anything about how long the wait might be. We were herded like cattle from one hallway to another.

One of the busiest airports in the world. Nice architecture . Bright, clean, good ambience. Very well managed and maintained. Efficient security and immigration staff and facilities. Clear signs everywhere, information desks. Good variety of products, services and facilities. Restaurants and Cafe's, lounges, children play areas, gift and souvenir shops, travel accessories, duty free and much more. Clean and comfortable seating in waiting areas. Friendly and helpful staff.

Great experience, had to transit between Terminals, wasn't a hassle. Easy to hop on and off through the train service. Good food options. The terminal shuttle runs every few mins, so no worries of missing a train shuttle. Bathrooms are clean, plenty of baby changing tables, easy to access at multiple locations at all terminals. Duty free shops have many options to shop for. Food courts have good amount of cuisine variety. Overall ORD transit was a good experience for me!

Staff: The staff is very helpful. The only issue I have here is how big the place is. Building: The building is spacious and very well taken care of. The bathrooms are clean. Concourse: They are spread out and can make for tough navigation when you have short layovers. Parking: plenty of parking. Star rating: Great airport for being sooo huge. Busiest airport I’ve ever been to but can honestly not complain about anything. The bathrooms are pretty clean and seem to be well maintained. I have had only one bad experience with an employee. And that was with a very entitled air Canada check in employee during 2020 but Covid was hard on us all so I don’t take it to heart. Be sure to bring good walking shoes and don’t wait till last minute to arrive, the airport is extremely large and always has long queues.

O'Hare International Airport is one of the largest airports in the US. There are a lot of people at any given time of day or night. Signs are well marked and intuitive. They have a train to go between the terminals, car rental, and long-term parking. Subway is a 10 min walk away for the terminal. The interior of the airport, though, is dull and uninspiring except for a few splashes of creativity. Staff are efficient and hard working but don't seem too friendly.

ORD is a major international airport in the United States and known the world over, it is huge and is a main hub for not one but two major US carriers, American Airlines and United. The terminals are interconnected but is not the easiest transfer between them, having said that make sure you have good time when planning connections here and follow sinage and the well.intentioned staff who around to help here and there

This is a very nice airport. It is very clean. All the people were curtious It could be a little overwhelming to say the least. I liked flying with Southwest. They offered free movies I had a flight credit So I took a quick flight out to Chicago My stay was nice The airport also offered shuttles to get you to your hotel. That made for a great addition. I would like to come back here again Great Airport

Had a one hour layover at this airport and it is fairly easy to move around in with lots of space. The design of the concourse is beautiful with the arches and natural lighting coming from all sides. It’s a steampunk-like concourse design. Very efficient airport with some modern features. It’s also the base airport of United Airlines so this is the signature United experience. Super cool airport!

Very large airport but needs some updating like the bathrooms etc.. They have a lactation pod which is pretty neat The shuttle/train connects everything which is pretty cool however expect to walk/travel between 15-20 minutes to your carousel/car rental. So if you are flying in for a last minute meeting or in a rush do not land close within that! Unless you plan on I wrong!

Flying into and out of Chicago O'Hare can be tricky and catching connections can be really be horrible. Thankfully I live in a city that has direct flights to O'Hare. Unfortunately it's not the best airline but it works. Otherwise Garrett's is totally worth flying to O'Hare (please see my review for the American Airlines terminal location). Better than Atlanta otherwise.

It's a busy airport and flying international may require a transfer between terminals via bus. Fast & efficient. Going thru Terminal 5 today. It's worth noting that if your gate is beyond M20 services are limited but scheduled to improve soon(?) The photo shows construction of a couple new food outlets. It's a great place to watch planes though.

It's a good airport. Plenty of food, shops, seating, and things to keep you occupied between flights. TSA is decent and lines move fairly quickly. Be sure to read signs y'all. By the way, if you're headed into the city, slip the taxi/ride share and take the L (blue line). My hotel is only a block away and I got to skip all the traffic drama.

One of the busiest yet frustrating airports to fly in and out of. The facilities were nice and plenty of food and shops to visit. Give yourself plenty of time should you need to connect anywhere at other airports. It’s the log jam of flight landing and waiting to take off that can cause significant delays in your plans.

I like to fly into O'Hare airport from Milwaukee. O' Hare has flights to many destinations. It is easy to maneuver through, and I always allow myself enough time to reach other parts of the airport. It has some nice artwork, and it is a very clean airport. There are many shops here too. I highly recommend this airport.

Simple design like many airports and easy access to security/check-in for departure. However, the arrivals are little confusing. Just note that when you arrive do take elevator down to get the baggage but if you want to get Uber/Lyft you have to get back up from the elevator because they only come to the second floor.

A crazy busy airport that is full Of restaurants and stores. It was very busy and hectic early in the morning. It was so crowded and waiting in line for food took forever. It is a big airport but the walk to the gate is very narrow. The airport is connected to the blue line metro that takes you into the city.

Pretty smooth when not crowded, the signage is above average and the staff are friendly and helpful. Need to figure out a better way to get from baggage claims to the car rental center though. Seems weird to have to get on a lite rail train and be the LAST stop that everyone seems to be going to.

Love Chicago international Airport. Lots of choices for Great food and drinks. Gift shops. They also offer Shuttles to hotels, Taxis and Valet. Large parking lot and a metro service right across from the Terminal. They offer first class boarding and concierge services. Overall a great airport.

I love ORD, I’ve flown out of it so many times I’ve lost count! It can take a bit of time to navigate, so wear tennis shoes and give yourself ample time for food and a bathroom break before catching your flight. Overall clean and lots of food and drink options, especially plenty of Starbucks!

This is definitely not my favourite US airport. It's always very busy and the shopping is very limited. Even the business class lounges are small and tired. I'm hoping they will do an upgrade soon. I would spend as little time here as possible. Definitely visit the nearby outlet mall though.

If you are flying out of town, it is better to come one hour and a half earlier or minimum an hour earlier. Security check lines are always rather long. It doesn't matter if your flight is in the morning or during regular hours. Inside the airport you can find anything you want or need.

All in all a really great airport. You do have to hustle to catch your flight as the terminals are big. So definitely don't book a short layover. Very nice selection of restaurants. Would love more comfortable seating areas to sit during layover. But one of my favorite places to land

A nice-ish airport. I'd say the national is pretty compared to other airports or even with the Canadian ones. There's a decent amount of seating and a good chunk of food options, but don't expect anything grandios. Maybe I'm too spoiled with good airports, but this one seemed "cold"

Large, busy airport. There are a lot of shipping options here, if that's something you'd like to arrive early or something to do on a long layover. Alternatively, the B convos had undergone remodeling with modern seating that have outlets attached. Not so much in the F concourse.

The main international gate of Chicago, the airport is working hard but efficient. The service is fast, it is recommended to arrive 2 hours before departure but if you want to be on the safe side take 3. Have a power outlets table for each gate food court, and other necessities.

No kids allowed. Avoid this airport at all costs if you have kids. The airport doesn’t offer a decent place for kids to play. The kids area is dirty and is abandoned with roof leaks. Extremely disappointing to see that airport management complete disregard kids and families.

Well maintain airport. Biggest airport. Clean and not too much busy. Plenty shopping option. My flight was from the terminal 5 and I arrived in the terminal 1 from the alska. Then I took metro train for the terminal 5. And security check in like also busy for immigration.

ORD is a busy but efficient airport! I plan to arrive 2 hours before departure not because of TSA but it is pretty huge and takes significant time to get to the appropriate gates. I am not a huge fan of the food options but there are several fast food for quick grabs.

It's busy, it's loud and a little confusing to navigate. The duty free shop was closed that day, but there was this candy store with nice gift ideas. Everything was expensive as expected from a big US airport, so better eat first before you get there.

The Ohare international airport is nice and big airport. There are lots of shops and restaurants. The best of thing that I loved about the airport was her public transportation to the downtown. It is very easy and convenient.

Is airport is massive. All of the hallways are decorated with flags and advertisements flying. There isn't a whole lot of room in each terminal for all the passengers but it's really cleaning the employees are really nice.

Big New and expanding airport. I would recommend to come 2 hours earlier if you have domestic flight and 3 hours for international flight. You may need to walk quite a bit. Earlier morning and night is very less crowded.

The part of the airport we saw was pretty nice. I really liked the seats, some big ones and super comfortable. I even saw people sleep on them. A kid can totally fit. We were there early (7ish) and many stores were open

Very busy but nice airport. Had a shelter in place for a tornado warning in the area. Seemed chaotic but the employees kept everyone safe. Easy to access throughout airport. USO that was in terminal 2 was awesome!

Decent airport! Of course everything was busy but we had no issues with TSA at all. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Main thing is it’s massive and there are tons of gates so be sure to be early!

Great inter-terminal SkyTrain connecting to a really efficient car rental hub. The Blue L line to downtown Chicago is a breeze but make sure you have $5 in notes, the machine didn't like my UK debit card!?

Sucks - there are no redeeming qualities at this airport…. It should be bulldozed and the earth where it was razed salted…. The airport is a complete and total dumpster fire of monumental proportions…

Very fast TSA check point. It was easy to find our departure terminal and gate. Plenty of places to eat and pick up a gift for home. I you're arriving, check your shuttle schedules for the right stop.

It was my first time at O'Hare, and I found it to be lovely. The terminal was older but not ugly. It was decorated beautifully, and there were so many options for food. The place smelled delicious!

Never spent too much time in this airport, normally transit and go (especially on arrival as we have to collect the luggage and recheck in...). Nice airport. Staff Friendliness depending your luck

It was my first time in Chicago - O'Hare is a Large airport, security lines are run very well. I found staff to be very friendly and the Macaroni Grill was a great stop for a delayed flight.

My favorite wine bar❤. Every time I go to Florida, I make a transit at O'Hare airport and take the three+ hours of transit time for wine and go in here. It is one of my cozy corners.

I usually have no major issues at this airport. Check-in is usually pretty good, and TSA is pretty fast and helpful. Plenty of space and bathrooms are usually pretty clean and open.

Easy access once you are inside of the airport. Tricky trying to find car rental return. The food choices are endless here, but the cost is too! Very clean and well-kept facility.

Flight days are always challenging. O'Hare handled my flight delay and multiple gate changes with patience and grace. It was good to be there and even better to finally be home.

A very large airport. The runway lawns are awesome. Looks like you can play golf on them. The airport itself is an impersonal confusing mass, similar to most other airports.

The American Airlines area was clean and efficient. The staff were patient and answered all our questions. Riding the blue line straight into the airport was a plus!

Lots of parking but check prices avg 4 days approx 90.00 in economy lot or higher, there is shuttle train and walkways to terminal gates etc and charging stations

Huge airport - seems always to be extremely busy. If you're looking for a place to be more quiet and have enough ti e, you might check out terminal 3.

Long waits. But once you’re past TSA the airport itself is clean and easy to navigate. Just get pre-check or you’ll be stranded forever in line.

Love international O'Hare airport. Great choices of restaurants. Always enjoy getting my favorite Garrett's Popcorn along with Fannie May Candy

Not bad. Big. you need plenty of time to get to you terminal and gate and through security. 2 to 3 hours to be safe.

I love O’Hare airport. It’s well designed, clean, folks are friendly, and beautiful during the holidays.
