The Oak Lawn Branch library is located in an upscale neighborhood of Dallas with plenty of new construction. And it is actually a neighborhood, with condos and cafes, restaurants and bars. The library is in front of a small retail complex and shares the fairly spacious parking lot with Kroger. Although the entrance doesn't have dramatic vaulted ceilings, it does have a solid comfortable spaciousness about it. A nice large painting to your right welcomes you, lots of notices of upcoming events to the left and ahead. New and stylish, yet still neighborhoody, if that's a word. Entering the library proper is a lovely experience. Burgundy brick wall to the left, floor to ceiling windows ahead (facing Knight Street), huge grey ventilation pipes hanging from the ceiling. There are plenty of artworks on the walls but the vastness of the space hides them at first. The children's area to the right as you enter is colorfully painted, well-stocked and provided with plenty of mini-furniture. There are a dozen or so PCs, most in small cubicles. Not very spacious but nice for privacy. The library provides plenty of tables for study and seating. Just a few comfy chairs in front, though. The adult fiction section is, I'm happy to report, larger than average, as is the nonfiction dection. There are also LGBT, YA and Spanish-language sections as well as plenty of DVDs, TV shows on disc and audio books. About the only negative is the somewhat dismal bathroom. All in all a great library for just about everyone. One of the best in the Dallas Public Library ststem.

Hola, chicos. This time I will share something super different from the rest of my contributions, it is about feeding the mind for all those reading lovers like me. I think you will be interested to know that in this area there is a public library where you can find books in different languages. But that's not all, you can also find movies, magazines, encyclopedias and many other things. And best of all, you can take whatever you want to your home, to be a member of this library you only need your ID, an e-mail, phone number and proof of address. all the people who work here are super friendly and help you with anything you need. Here I leave some photos of my visit to this magnificent place.

You don’t need a library card to enter or use the wifi. Biggest downside is that it can be an ice chest. The AC is kept running at full blast all the time. Bring a jacket if you’re sitting anywhere near a vent. A nice library with friendly staff and big windows with nice seating. Good parking. There are a few homeless people that hang around inside and outside but are generally friendly and keep to themselves. They’re just people, not to be feared. There is usually a security officer on premise. Decent collection of books, movies, magazines with some unique to the community. Has a bit of a funky smell.

This Library IS Definitely BETTER Than the Central Library (Main Branch) in down-town Dallas (4 x NiCER)! It's a wee bit CLEANER, there's NOT Too many Disruptive people talking loud on their cell-phones, AND there's LESS "homeless" people Making a MESS by pooping And/Or peeing ALL Over Library Property! The RICH, somewhat SNOBBISH, Folks DON'T & WON'T Tolerate IT, because after all, IT IS Oak Lawn's RICH Neighborhood! THANKS RICH, somewhat SNOBBISH, Oak Lawn Neighborhood! ️

I really wanted to like this place/feel comfortable here because it is near my home, but unfortunately that is not the case as there is a large homeless population near/inside. Thus, there is quite the odor (mixture of urine and body odor) inside of the library and very limited seating. This is not the place where you can ask a neighbor to watch your things while you use the restroom. Also very limited plug ins for electronics. The only plus for me is lots of natural lighting due to large windows.

We go here as a family almost weekly. My son knows where his books are located and runs to that area. He also feels super comfortable speaking with the librarians when he needs a book. I enjoy the selection and if they don’t have my book I can request it via the app and get a text alert when it has arrived. I would give it five stars but the AC is not always working at its best level so sometimes it gets stuffy.

This is a conveniently located library off of Cedar Springs, right by Kroger. It's relatively small compared to the other Dallas branches, but I've always found it to be quiet-- which I love. They have a wonderful selection of children's books, too. You'll occasionally find some interesting characters in the library or near it, but I've never been bothered. I think that's just a part of city living.

I went to this library and my work got stuck in the computer. I asked the lady behind the desk how long would it be before it will open. Spacing answered, "I don't know. I left and came back. The computer still wasn't working. Whether someone was called about the situation, I have no clue. Hopefully those that left in the middle of their work won't fall into the wrong hands just in case. Whatever!

It's a great library with a great staff but I can't come here because the homeless people are EVERYWHERE! I hadn't even exited my car when I had four of them beg at me and one of them throw rocks at my car because I wouldn't give him any money! And it happens every time I come. I'm scared to go to this location.

This was a great place to rent five DVD's for seven days. Plus, they showed me how to do a self, no-contact, checkout! It was really cool! And the girls there were so pretty, helpful, and very courteously professional!! It was a great experience!!!!

The location is certainly convenient, but like many Dallas-run places, badly in need of a facelift, especially the bathroom. Very run down. Walking distance for a lot of folks and right by Kroger and lots of other shops, so that's a plus.

  • Violet Ravotti

One of my favorite libraries, friendly staff and great selection of books. Super centrally located! :) always a joy to chat with staff here! They are also so helpful!

This library used to be G H E T T O. Lately they took measurements to keep it clean and safe. I commend them for doing so. A decent place to explore and read.

  • Tim West

Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean and organized. The librarian and staff are class acts and know what they are doing.

  • Foggo Mogoggo

They don't want to let people use their Internet purposely. I don't know why.

  • Sherri Haskins

love this location! I really enjoy the monthly bookclub
