I am a very flexible, patient and understanding person, this is the first time I have bothered to give a bad review about anything or anyone in my entire life. I have just mooved in the area, but I will never ever ever go to this place again and they can thank the young security guard for this, further more I will make a complaint to the security company that employees him as soon as possible. To keep it simple, my partner and I had dined there for the first time a few days agoo as we had just moved to the Canterbury area about 1 month ago ; in fairness I must say the foods were very, very good; although, in the gaming room an horrible experience began ; the staff seemed to pay attention and to be friendly only to some and only if asians. We waited 10-15 minutes but nobody brought Raquel her first gin and tonic as we had requested, whilst we played the machines; we accept and understand mistakes can happen and that sometimes a waitress can forget. While in a very good mood, Raquel went to the the unattended bar to request her drink again, that is when a security guard of middle eastern apperence said exactly this to her : " What do you want ? Nobody is here now, are you blind, you must wait for the girl here or at the machine or you think you are special, tell your man to get up and get you a drink, he is not gambling, you are gambling". Raquel was extremely offended by his comments and behaviour as she did not request anything from him as she was waiting patiently as usual as she is a very patient and easy going person. The conduct of the body builder, stuffeshire look alike, young security guard was very unprofessional and assuming. What caused us to post this comment is that after those horrible comments, the insulting ignorant "dribled his testosterone" over my lady and followed her around everywhere she went to play for 20 minutes as I was outside outside to take a client phone call. We left before our night began as Raquel's request. She only told me the story when we got home where she would still fill extremely traumatised and she admitted she had felt uncomfortable and intimidated I believe that the assuming and arrogante security guard has watched too many action movies in his life and he had abused the little authority he has in the most unprofessional way. I think he should not have a security licence and he should consider a carrer labouring or a job where the contact with women especially and with the public is not really necessary. We will never ever come back or recommend this place to anyone

So I stayed here in the weekend and I really wish I hadn’t! I tried to ask if I could check in early as they have day rooms from 8am-5pm and my flight arrived at 9am, I needed to get to a function at 12pm. They said no only at 10am but they will put in my request anyways I get there about 9.40am they haven’t even opened and when they did at 10am I had to wait for the counter staff to come down stairs so I could check in. Our room (108) was nice the window was open and all but when I closed the window and left. I came back to a smelly room. I couldn’t get any help because they were closed until 10am the next morning. It was so bad the bed stunk, all our clothes, the pillows, towels everything! It smelt like someone had been smoking in the room together with a damp mouldy smell. (No wonder they had the window open) The next morning I tried to get moved to a new room they said no because no one can smoke in the rooms and he’ll get someone to change the sheets. That wasn’t the only problem the key cards sometimes don’t work and the shared toilets were always disgusting and only get cleaned once a day which is in the morning. Lucky they give you two keycards otherwise if you come in after hours and your keycard doesn’t work you’ll probably have to sleep in the car because they have closed. When I had to leave the next morning about 8am I couldn’t get my cash bond because they don’t open until 10am. Will never be staying here again and would never recommend it to anyone.

I have recently moved from Marrickville to Campsie and being an Irish girl, myself and my partner like to try find a local for ourselves that we can go and have a beer and some chats with the locals. How disappointing this pub is as one girl called Peg (I think) is ruining this for people. I watched as she gave free beers to a man at the bar who was clearly intoxicated and then left my partner standing at the bar for 20 mins before turning around and abused him shouting at him this is his last beer. This is the second time this girl has done this to us in this pub. I watched that night as she told her colleague not to serve us any more beers. I had drank only 3 beers and wanted one more before I left the pub. The abuse and the way she spoke with us as we left was just so horrible and inappropriate. She was a horrible girl and lacks customer services altogether. To be honest I thought she was been racist to us and just took a dislike to us. It is very upsetting and I was so angry I feel like I will never come here again for a beer and will sadly be not calling it my local. I will also tell people about how bad it was my experience and to stay clear of this establishment. Peg is extremely rude and is ruining your pubs name. Angry Irish Girl.

Pleasant stay. Electronic entry doors to the room. I loved their cleaned linen. It was fresh, white, and crispy. It felt brand new. The television had a variety of channels to choose from. The was the wardrobe space with some cost hangers. A desk was provided as were mall hair necessities such as shampoo and conditioner. Internet service throughout. The shared bathroom had a hair dryer. The water in the shower was cold. Renovations have been ongoing for a month now, so this could have been corrected. Renovations were also going on during my stay to the floor I was staying on. The hot water issue could now be irrelevant.

I had been to this place once before about 2 years ago. I paid cash for my room to the guy at the front desk at the hotel, he also asked to me to pay a credit card deposit for the room, which I did. I was also told the money would be paid back into my account (the deposit never came back) after many calls to the hotel, they said the deposit will be paid back, the money never came back. So why did I go back and book this hotel again (HOW SILLY WAS I). The hotel was very close to where I had to go for a function. I was very reluctant to do it again but I did. (HOW SILLY WAS I). This time when I got to the hotel I was informed that the hotel was booked out and my room was booked for the Monday the 3rd of July, not Saturday the 1st of July. This hotel for me is a defiantly no-go zone. So, if you are going to book a room, or go the kitchen, or go to the bar, or deal with the staff, I will be saying. (HOW SILLY ARE YOU).. I gave this hotel a one star only because you have to give it a rating..... Phil.

I stayed in this hotel for a little bit more than a week. 3 days in a Queen Room with shared toilet and 5 days in a Single Room with shared toilet. The rooms were super clean, nice decorated with own tv and air conditioner. The only issue was that my Single Room had a pigeon nest on the roof and I could hear the pigeon during the day moving in the roof but it wasn't something that really bothered me. The hotel has many toilets that you can use, they were clean everyday. Housekeeper coming every morning at 10am to get you fresh towels and picking up rubbish. You have the hotel downstairs where you can eat a really nice and big meal for only 15 bucks! A bit far away from the city but I would definitely come back and I enjoyed staying here.

The customer service is very poor indeed, it is quite an awkward pub. I'm not sure if this establishment knows how to cook a steak properly? We bought our family here and my son's calamari tasted quite strange?? My daughters had spaghetti bolognese (there fave) but could only swallow a few mouthfuls. When my wife and I had a taste the bolognese sauce tasted a bit rancid??? My wife ordered a rear steak and I ordered medium. Neither our steaks were cooked well, her's was literally raw and bleeding so it was what is termed "blue", mine was quite burnt and so hard to cut and chew. We ended up leaving and taking the kids to McDonald's.

Room was not clean at all. Thoroughly disappointed with this. Had to speak via facetime to a manager to get them to organise someone to clean the room. Took arguing for it to happen. Was only offered a $50 refund for this poor display housekeeping. Dirty laundry left in halfway were guests can see it even thou its 10pm. Maybe invest in some laundry bags so there aren't so many towels, sheets, pillowcases ect all over the floor and making it so it's a fire hazards

The food at J’s kitchen is terrible & yet the service so bad. Order the T.bone steak Med.Rate but come up w/Rump steak/Med.well. Send it back but they not even make another one. The pasta for the kids it’s off. Was ruining my night with my family. Was terrible. Never come back again. I’m not staying but I’m local ) wanted to stay for my family next but I cancel it, you should change the food/kitchen. Seriously was absolutely an acceptable hospitality.

The hotel should be embarrassed about what comes out of the kitchen. I've eaten in once with my wife and was gross. Now I just got tricked into eating again via Uber eats. The chicken was raw as per first picture, garlic bread was dead and pepper sauce stinks and has mushroom all through it. Mushroom and Diane sause was a option, this was a slap together of both with green pepper added. It stinks, and really ruined my Friday evening.

Was a regular at the pub. I use j’s kitchen a lot and have a drink while I’m there. Not anymore. Food price went up and portion went down. Signs no longer match the meal. Example pork cutlets have 3 on the signage and only 2 on the plate. Will not be going there anymore. Remember them doing this to the customers is giving your pub a bad name.

My family went there for dinner. The place was packed. The dining area was closed to the bar, so I don't recommend this place for family with little kids. Our family ordered a couple of steaks, the sauces were nice though the steak a bit tough, hard to chewed. The prices were moderate.

  • Shane Simpson

Had lunch there today. Had the rump steak special for $19 with chips and salad. This meal was great. Cooked perfect, diane sauce was terrific. Definitely worth stopping in for lunch one day. Great value for money

It's called a sports bar with only 3 sports channels, we ordered calamari and got spring rolls instead so not only 3 sports but wrong food as well as when I went to the bar there were no bar staff for 5- 10 minutes.

They ask for a 100 deposit which doesn’t actually act as an “transaction” they freeze it they say... and should go back into your account.. 2 weeks later still haven’t returned my money. Not a pub either just an asian restaurant that serves beer and has pokies.

This place has a little bit going for it. However, Some of the staff are simply rude. Unfortunately however, there are very few alternatives in Campsie

In the 'Apartment'. Totally exceeded all expectations....not what I expected to see when I opened the door. My family and I have been very comfortable and content. You wouldn't think that you were staying above a pub!!. Very happy.

This place is awesome. Saw a couple of negative reviews, seriously are they North Shore blow ins. Have been here for dinner 3 times now. It is great value, quick service and a fantastic price. 5 star pub food for sure!

I would have liked a 2nd bedside table & a kettle, but the room was a good size, bed was comfortable & the bathroom OK. Hard to beat at the pricepoint
