First time and the last time I will ever dine at the Old Spot Hotel .... Waited over an hour for my beef schnitzel with garlic prawn topping that came out eventually over cooked with no garling in my cream sauce On my bit over an hour wait I discovered 2 other tables were still waiting for there meals and were also very un happy with there cold food when it finally arrived an hour and a half later . By this time it was obviousy to late to go to another venue to eat as I recieved my meal at 8.45 pm and I'd just driven from Melbourne and was awfully tired that's why I chose to eat out ! So I wasted over an hour of my time waiting for food that was in my opinion not hard to make as I'm a cook I work hard for my money and I am never going there again and would not recommend the old spot for food I paid for extra garlic sauce and they gave me cold cream with a green garnish again with no garlic in it not good enough Should have been offered a refund but was not The sauce On my schnitzel was overcooked with no garlic and the sauce in the bowl was cream! With no garlic That was how I left my table after an hour and 10 wait for my food I couldn't eat it !

Had my daughters 6th birthday there tonight with friends and family, hand a man the cake box with the lid open and he proceeded to close it with force and ruin the decoration of the cake, I managed to recover it and said please make sure the lid is NOT closed as to not ruin it. When they brought it out the lid was fully closed and the cake decorations flattened. Table of 23 of us and they weren't very busy took over an hour and a half for meals to arrive with the birthday girl waiting an hour for her kids fish and chips to arrive while the other children had already eaten. My mother in law and friend had been the first to order and didn't receive they're meal until everyone had finished theirs and was ready to leave even know they only ordered a fisherman's basket. Disgusting behavior of the wait Staff after hearing complaints, won't be returning and don't recommend this place to anyone.

Today my family (about 14 of us) decided to call into The Old Spot for a drink, following my Grandads funeral service. I am glad that we did - the outdoor area was comfortable despite the heat, but the real standout was the incredible service that we received throughout. All of the staff were lovely, but I would like to make a special mention to Myella who was attentive and professional in her work, as well as warm, friendly, great for a chat over the bar, she took the extra time to help me decide on the perfect mix for a nostalgic Chandy for my Mum & Aunty. It's rare that I take the time to do such a detailed review, and it is even rarer that I chase someone down to make sure I get their name right for it, but this afternoon was exceptional. We will most assuredly be back for Lunch and a couple of games of pool very soon. Thanks for having us

Outstanding service by the young firey red haired lass! I cannot thank you enough for your hospitality on my birthday dinner. The food was good, but this waitress just made my night, your quality is wasted at the Old Spot, you deserve to either manage the venue or shine brightly somewhere else where you're energy, customer service. attention to details, professional mannerisms and infectious smile are valued to a crowded restaurant. Not just a few patrons through the door for meals and a gaming room of zombies. The place used to be a huge hive of buzzing entertainment, but unfortunately the best staff have since left, this is clearly a reflection of how poor the venue management are. Don't be one swollowed up by this hole of darkness- take your bright hair and smile someone that deserves you.

Booked a table for 3 for luncheon, The Melbourne Cup and a birthday celebration. Food quality was average for 2 of the meals and awful, twice for a family member, whos food was beef gristle and fat, exchanged for a burnt schnitzel & glubby mashed potatoes and lumpy thick gravey. Lovely. Completely missed the race, thanks to the male staff member who decided to change the TV channel 5 minutes before the race, to the wrong channel. Good one! Band practice members making an uncoordinated racket in the background for the time that we were there. Spoiling the atmosphere. Had I have known that these were going to be there, i wouldn't have bothered booking our lunch. We now realise why the dining area was so sparce. We were all very dissapointed. Will we be going back? This is the best place in Australia to buy a Jack Daniel’s and coke glass bottle stubby. Having a JD and cola from the Old Spot helps you to continue to get you through the struggle of Main North Rd……The barren waste land that comes before and straight after it can often make you feel depressed….but hook a hard left, swing around, say gday to the guy in the drive through and you’re sorted mate. I wouldn’t take the negative reviews seriously on the Old Spots GMB. The people in this area are highly volatile emotionally and probably shouldn’t be spending time in society, let alone getting a chicken schnitzel that they’re just going to complain about and literally let ruin their life’s. 5 stars for sure and let’s keep it going!

She listened and ensured my vision came to life. She welcomed every guest with open arms and worked longer hrs to ensure our day went smoothly. Kerry, Chris, Lizzie and the Wonderful Team of staff at The Old Spot Hotel went above and beyond to help make my Mum's recent memorial service a successful and memorable event. From assisting with AV set up, food catering, and dealing with 100 plus guests swarming the bar all at once, they were simply fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble and I would thoroughly recommend the venue for any kind of event or function you may need. Great budget accommodation too for those that may over indulge and the crisp clean white high quality linen was lovely. Amazingly bad the older lady behind the front bar had an attitude since I walked in. Thankfully she went to the gaming room but unfortunately returned to the front bar. Decided to have dinner here and got the wrong order twice but decided to say nothing the second time and just ate what I was given. Haven’t been here for a while but taken a step backwards. Bar staff in past were always excellent so you could forgive odd slip up in the past. Over all a bad experience tonight, hope it’s a one off experience but won’t change with the current bar staff. And note calling me love and babe doesn’t excuse bad service.

Awesome tavern for a meal, drive past it regularly and tonight we decided to pull in and give it a try. Was nearly empty in the dining area which I was surprised to see considering the food was amazing and good selection of beers on tap. The staff were really helpful and friendly. Had a great older style atmosphere with great service. The food came out within 10 minutes which was awesome too. Had the Texas style brisket which was very moderately priced for a decent bit of brisket and tasted delicious. The bbq sauce was to die for. Will definitely be going back there again. Thanks!

I have stayed in the accommodation, eaten in the restaurant and drank in the bar! I found lovely bar staff & great service in a friendly atmosphere. The food was extremely good and on time. Over the past month they have added some plants etc. which gives it a warm homely feel. The rooms are a good size and clean, with all you need for a comfortable stay and reasonably priced. First and last time here. Don't go on the pictures of the food at the bar or FB, very misleading. We paid $85 for 2 burger adult meals, 1 chicken schnitzel and 2 kids meals. The tasteless burgers were served on the same entree size plate as the kids meals. The schnitzel was small, dry, served with watery reheated lumpy gravy, (i had ordered dianne sauce.). When I commented that we found it amusing the adults serves were on the same small plates as the kids plates the waitress made no apology, she just looked at us, turned around and walked off with the dirty dishes.

Went there today for Mothers day lunch. When we arrived staff were helpful, courteous, and friendly. When our meals arrived, the so called medium steak was way over cooked. The snitzel was dripping with oil, the stir fry was really fill of liquid and worse was the spinach stuff chicken that had unwashed spinach in it so I didn't get to eat lunch for Mothers day. When the cook left she hid her head behind her hand and wore dark glasses and bolted through the dinning room. Have never eaten there before and will never eat there again. Worse meal in my life

The food was delicious but be careful when ordering dessert as they will charge you a mountain for a tiny serve. Ordered the caramel cheesecake for my nephew and nearly fell over when they said it was $15 per serve. He wanted one slice of cheesecake, not the whole thing! Well, he got one slice, and it wasn't a huge and I was hugely disappointed. Maybe consider your pricing structure because that price is just plain ridiculous. Other than that, the service was great, the food was great (besides the price) and the venue was warm and inviting.

Ordered a selection of beer from the bottle shop which boasts having a wide selection. Was only delivered 30% of my order. One of the beers was off and had reached its best before 9 months prior, tasted like ethanol and was flat. When I rang up to query the status of my missing items I was not helped very well. When I finally got my refund it didn’t even cover all of the missing stock. VERY dissatisfied and ripped off. Will never shop here again. They threw in a free $3.50 can of beer but In hindsight I should have just gone elsewhere.

The staff lacks basic manners, I asked for a condiment for my meal and was told I should pay for it when I order. The meal was very dry and needed sauce for flavour. How much extra would a small amount of sauce cost. The pink haired lady was so RUDE about it. When there mash potato is from a DEB - packet, I immediately regret ordering it. I didn't complain but instead I asked for sauce. I had a play on the pokies and my table was not cleared when I left 2 hours later. There toilet were disgusting!

The lady helping the young man taking orders was great went to the kitchen to try go over and above for the customers. Until the red haired lady very Rudely shut her down. We had about 20 people for dinner here last night. It was not very busy but we waited 1.5 hrs for our meals which were cold and disgusting. 2 of our guests did not even get their schnitzels and when we asked about them we were told all meals have been served to the table ( obviously not). Barmaid with the red hair is incredibly rude. End of the night she was moving tables around slamming them together like she was having a tantrum. WILL NOT go back.

We chose a menu for 18 people at our wedding lunch. Disappointed beef satay sticks were chewy, way over cooked and chicken, beef and fish mains were served cold. Sirloin was really roast beef slices with gravy. Roast potatoes were charcoal black, definitely not worth $33 per head. Management only offered apologies and 2 meals as non paying. We appreciated what the hotel did with arranging the room and tables but the food was a huge let down.

Salisbury Scouts Centre hosted a leadership dinner for all their leaders and sponsors. My wife and I realized that we hadn't been to The Old Spot Hotel for a meal for forty years - When our son was an infant! The Dining Room has grown to be four times the size it was when we last visited. The staff were helpful and discrete, the food hot and the serves huge! We'll definitely come again. We certainly won't wait another forty years!

I went here on Saturday for a group lunch. I ordered a red lentil and vegetables soup which was the 'soup of the day' on the board. Am on a high protein diet that's why I chose this. Unfortunately, after about 30-45minutes of waiting for my soup came out but didn't have any red lentils. It only had vegetables. I asked a waiter why there was nolentils in the soup and she showed me 2 small lentils in the soup. Very disappointing.

Customer service and food was divine. The accommodation on the other hand was bare-minimum. The problem with the accommodation was • There was no TV remote and the TV was being weird. • No milk in the fridge • The shower heads are dirty-ish • The lock for the bathroom in Room 3 doesn't work • And there is advertised wifi but there is none. This is a good place to eat, but wouldn't recommend staying for more than 2 nights.

Cassandra the meal waitress was a lovey person but the girl at the gaming bar with red hair / tats was a smart mouth also very rude & shouldn't be working in hospitally, if she is working when I return I will walk out again. The food is always good but its just a pitty about this one person that thinks she better because she works behind the bar & has the right to say what she wants & that's dead wrong.

Had a meal Wednesday night, the food was very good. $15 schnitzel night, they were a good size and a generous portion. The dining room is large and like stepping back into the 80s, the staff were nice and the meals came out fairly quickly. Its not "fancy" but a good pub meal in an old school setting. The bottle shop is exceptional - one of the best ranges of craft beer Ive seen in Adelaide. I would go back here again.

Have not been here for a very, very long time. The main dining area is still very dark and dingy and needs a make over. However the customer service was fast and friendly and our roast of the day meals were huge albeit the lamb was bit tough but the slices could of been a bit thinner too. All in all, quite good and we'll be back. Really 3.8 Stars.

Accommodation was absolutely fantastic I stayed for 2 nights. Bed was huge and so comfortable. Room was big. Noise from road was not a problem at all. Food was delicious. The staff were all amazing from booking accommodation on the phone, to checking in making sure I had cold bottles for the room, the staff that served me for dinner, all went above and beyond. Definitely great place to stay.

Very disappointed with meal $22 for Mediterranean salad + $4 to add boiled chicken. Very little substance to salad other than lettuce combo, searched through to find tomato came across very little cucumber, feta nice and fresh. What was once best place in Northern suburbs to eat is now very tired and money grabbing. Co diner had same but with prawns....prawns MIA. Staff lovely

Used to be very helpful until the disability discrimination occurred. We were banned after bringing our own coffee and were told we'd need to produce our private medical details to regain entry if we intended bringing our own coffee. Needless to say, we didn't go back. The uke group we were in didn't even stick up for us so, one star goes to them as well.

If you are interested in the pokies, this is definitely the pub for you. If not then it is very run down and in need of a major overhaul. The happy hour is only in one bar, with no signage to the adjacent bar. All areas are dirty and the only modern part is the pokie machines. Beer is stale and pipes need cleaning. Only drink bottles if you have to drink here

Food was okay as usual. I have eaten there quite a few times and on this occasion it was the barramundi which was the Chef's Special and nicely cooked Note to staff; if customers have kids in the dining room, it should be the venue's policy that they be kept under control. Not rumning around laughing and yelling with everyone pretending not to notice

Nice place and food was reasonable. The staff were polite, however spent most of their time standing around talking. The pokie machines were filthy - made your hands all dirty. Staff were not busy and could have easily given the machines a wipe over, making for a much nicer experience.

Average food took an hour to get to the table. Arrived in dribs & drabs after we specifically asked for meals to come out together. T Bone was nice & cooked well. Fisherman's platter had frozen crumbed prawns not garlic prawns & the crispy pork belly was not crispy nor pork belly. All in all an expensive disappointment.

The staff here are just amazing and I've not been served without a smile. Team are amazing and well presented, plus very well mannered. My daughter who has asd, has been so thankful of the team for being kind and caring to her. Keep it up guys! I'm giving u 5/5

I liked this hotel. The staff were great, well all but one and she wasn't that bad. Food was good and costs were too. I just wish the building had been maintained. Carpet was clean but ripped at one spot. Not a small rip, but a big rip. Pity as otherwise I would rate it higher. Probably will still go back though.

Had the chicken schnitzel and fish between us. All of it was very dissapointing in flavour. Just left you with the taste of the average chips and batter. For a price above other pubs that have great meals we were expecting a lot more from out experience. Venue needs to put in a lot more effort.

Went to the old spot hotel last night for tea. Have not been for a long time as the meals were average but after last night we will defiantly be back soon. Ordered T bone steak with Dianne Gravy. It was absolutely delicious. The schnitzels on the table next to us looked beautiful as well.

Went to the old spot for Friday night t bone night. It was very quiet at this time. I asked for my t-bome cooked medium and it was still blue. So I sent back and it came back out as rare. My partner also said her rinp was dry (couldn't figure out how to add the photo to review)

There were 11 of us there today for lunch and even though there were some delays with ordering due to technical issues and once we got the food it was all good! Myella who was serving us was very apologetic and professional in the handling of a difficult situation! Well Done!!

Been here several times in small and big groups. Beer prices are good. $5.50 for pints(SA) /schooners (NSW) mid-strength. Meals are always good. I go the chicken or Old Spot Burgers. There is never any complaints about the food.

Went for lunch. Was a bit hesitant at going BUT was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is a bit dated but our Schnitzel was tasty and well cooked and served with a lovely fresh salad. Staff were cheerful and helpful. Would return.

February 1st, was a place we chose to have a meal to celebrate my 77th Birthday The Steak and a Pork Belly Roast was actually very good, and the female staff were very hospitable and cheerful.

Enjoyed our meals and staff were friendly, felt the drinks were overpriced. Dining area appeared dark, ladies toilets were unpleasant. Place could do with a makeover or a really good clean.

Food was awesome. Only one thing wish they'd pointed out all their specials. Some are displayed some are on tiny little signs you really have to look for.

Dinner for 5, excellent service , good quality meals , calm atmosphere where we could sit and enjoy conversations during dinner . Highly recommend. A++

Disappointed would be an understatement. Food was passable but nothing like the pub grub of other places close by. Staff were good tho.

Hadn’t been to the Old Spot for some time. Dropped in for lunch. What a change! Great food and friendly staff. Give it a try.

Nice pub, Nice food. Normally good service, just don't order dessert if you need to leave within an hour, it won't be ready.

Worst i have ever been to service shocking two customers in the whole place and two staff talking ignoring the customers

The food was fine.Didn't get deposit back from room. We only stayed 1 night.The room had someone's clothing left behind.
