Our visit to Olive and Oil in Hillcrest, particularly for their 3-course lunch menu priced at 190 Rand, was a delightful experience. The ambiance on the Women's Day visit, which fell on the 9th of August, was exceptional. All female patrons were greeted with a glass of bubbly, and the staff didn't hesitate to keep the glasses topped up, adding a classic and celebratory touch to the day. Despite the restaurant being quite busy, the service was commendable, and the waiting times were manageable. For starters, my partner and I opted for the Chicken Livers dish, a personal favorite that never disappoints. Additionally, we tried the kebabs, which were generously seasoned with fresh herbs and spices, making for a flavorful beginning to the meal. Moving on to the mains, I enjoyed the Skinny Chops served on a bed of veggies and mash. The mash was creamy, the chops cooked to perfection, and the minty sauce topping added a refreshing twist to the dish. My partner savored the beef burger, which he found equally satisfying. For dessert, we indulged in the classic Crème Brûlée, a timeless favorite that lived up to its reputation. To accompany our meal, we ordered strawberry mojitos, though they didn't quite meet our expectations. They turned out to be tangy and diluted quickly with the ice. Overall, Olive and Oil remains our go-to restaurant, regardless of the branch, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at this particular location in Hillcrest. The combination of diverse menu options, fantastic ambiance, and attentive service makes it a dining destination we will continue to frequent.

The food was great. Though we were there for four hours, we were still ordering so there was no need to be treated as second class. The service was also good until peak time. Obviously when the restaurant is packed it can be understandable of the waiters assistance is spread thin, but let it be noted that our last round of drinks (for a table of 5) took longer than 45 minutes. When we thought the Manager was finally going to explain why the delay of drinks instead he was more interested in informing us that the table we were occupying had been reserved and the guest were to arrive in 15 minutes. So we were being "kindly asked to shift tables" in a restaurant full of people on a Friday night. Not only would have that been embarrassing but it was definitely a no no for our pride, considering we were already the only ethnic customers. Next time I suggest you advise a customer well in advance to shift tables (nothing less than an hour). And to top it all off the last round of drinks we cancelled weren't even prepared yet. We tipped well on top of the R1500 bill. So it is my opinion to say that we were unfairly treated due to our racial class. But thank you for the effort of service and good food.

We booked 2 days ahead for lunch at 14H00. When we arrived the waiter was taking us to our table and to his embarrassment, the table was no longer available. We waited at the bar for 35 minutes and it was suggested we take a table near the open door where a cold draft kept blowing in. It was not practical as one family member has a lung disease. We refused as we booked a table near the kiddies area so that our son had access to it. After a 55 minute wait a waiter suggested we sit outside and he will put the heater on. We agreed as by then we were all really hungry. We were breaking fast and wanted to have a good family lunch. Outside had a talented and lovely singer who cheered up our gloomy afternoon. Our meals took long and were served lukewarm food from starters to mains....

First time dining in a "fancy" restaurant in a whole while, and I must say Olive and Oil was stupendous. The revamp definitely did the place a huge wonder. The staff was great, thanks to Bongeka our waitress for the wonderful service and to everyone that pitched in to assist when she wasn't available. The service was excellent, the food was more than to die for . Definitely would recommend these two meals, the Gorgonzola, Bacon and Avo Rump and the Slow Cooked Lamb Shanks with grilled veggies and mashed potatoes.

Our dinner experience at Olive and Oil Hillcrest recently did not start out pleasantly. I had reserved an inside table, but on arrival they were unable to accommodate us and seated us outside on a very chilly evening. However, the service provided from then on was excellent and we were moved inside after a 20 minute cold wait. From starters to mains to desserts, all our dishes were excellent. The creme brulee being the best I have ever eaten! The service from all the waitrons was top notch, and management was attentive as well. The restaurant was very busy, yet we were still made to feel welcome and important. We will definitely be returning in the very near future!!

We frequently have lunch at O&O. In general all is fine but we have had a few bad experiences. Today was another example. We arrived at 3pm with 4 open tables clearly visible. The waiter tells us they can only seat us at 4:30pm. I point out the open tables and we are then seated. The menus arrive and we ask for the lunch special (they have a lunch special but never bring out the menus as if it is an inner secret that only the elect few are privy to). The lunch special menus are then brought to us and we are informed that the lunch special menu changed yesterday and now only runs until 3pm and no longer 4pm as in the past. We got the drift and left without ordering.

The food and service receive here was exceptional. We had the privilege of being waited on by a young lady named Tabi, who anticipated exactly what we needed. I had the Chicken livers, Spicy Spanish fillet and creme brulle off of the Lunch time menu and all meals were excellent. Only hassle is that the restuarant does nothing have bathrooms inside, so you have to use the mall's one outside. Additionally, the kids area needs more things to entertain the little ones, quite limited when it gets busy with a lot of kids and the parking situation is a bit chaotic but worth the hassle for the lovely food and atmosphere experienced here.

I had booked for a birthday lunch for 9 people. I was very disappointed with the service, particularly with the wait in between the meals. We waited for starters for 40mins, and the main cause took them another 1 hour and 10mins. We also had to change the desert due to another table having finished it, so they improvised with ice cream. Managers of the day failed to manage expectations with us on what was the delay with food and drinks. Definitely not returning here until the service improves.

Amazing restaurant! I've never been to an Olive and Oil restaurant before but was really impressed by the food, service and atmosphere. They had a live singer in the outside seating area too. In terms of meals, it took a bit long to be prepared but was well worth the wait. They have a wide selection of meals on the menu, and even have a special 3 course menu which is quite well priced. I highly recommend visiting!

Olive and Oil is an upscale restaurant with a great atmosphere. We decided to go try the food and weren't disappointed! I had the soft taco with smoked beans, asian slaw and avo, it was so delicious I ordered two portions! Definitely a must try! If you have kids they do offer a play area safely inside the restaurant.

On Wednesday 5 of us visited your Hillcrest branch I never had such a disappointing meal, been an Olive and Oil customer for many years. Our main course were ice cold and had to be send back to be warmed up. Our desert a pancake was cold and dry. The manager told me that the chef have forgotten to warm it up in the microwave WOW. When you lights that defective put them off and light some candles. Both of ended up with headaches and eyeshore. Wonderful dining experience in the heart of Hillcrest. Popped in to O & O for a quick lunch and was presented with a set lunch menu. This is sometimes great as one doesn't have to think very hard. The set menu consisted of 4 starters, 6 mains, 2 desserts, bearing in mind that you chose 1 of each and a free beverage. Please note that the free beverage is not a free coffee. All in all was a real value for money experience.

We had the best service from Mlu. He made sure we were always ok and recommended what’s good on the menu. The food was amazing and presentation was perfect. The manager Sbo also came to check on us regularly. Will surely come back. The ambience and atmosphere is 5 stars as well.

We were a table of 9, we waited an hour to receive our food, which then started coming out, 2 plates at a time every 4/5 minutes. I ordered the Valencia pasta, which I personally found didn’t have flavour and was just filled with cream, however everyone else said their food was extremely good. No plates and boards were cleaned up until we left.

The building is having renovations done but the restaurant was outstanding. Our waiter, Des, was great and the food was excellent. It was my birthday and I asked that they write happy birthday on my dessert plate. They don't do it like other restaurants but they tried it for me. Definitely going back there again because of service and food.

Ive been there 3 times this year,first time was my baby shower second was my birthday in August and lastly on the 25th of this month for my colleagues birthday celebration. In all occasions they out did themselves... The place is very homily, you hear chatter and laughter all around and their food hmm delish..will definitely come again.

Reading other reviews it seems O&O waitrons focus on large bookings. Service for a table of 2 is below par for the prices you pay. Perhaps look elsewhere if just 2 of you (Stretta comes to mind). NB - Beware garlic overload.

Generally love the atmosphere of the Olive and Oil in Glenwood. Friendly staff, good food, chilled mood. Was not too happy with the recent lunch menu selection, but they change often. Their weekday and occasional food specials are also great. Please do give them a visit. Or for a group event.

We had a great service from Sthabile, she's so nice and lovely, very welcoming and she kept on checking us throughout and yes, she's very proffessional

We had an amazing lunch yesterday. The lunch special has such amazing options and the food was great. The service was really good, thanks to Phumla our waitress. I will definitely be coming back

All i can say, is just "Wow". So inpressed the new revamp looks awesome . Our meal was so delicious. Our waiter Nqobile, her service was outstanding. Definitely found a new place to hangout ☺.

Service so very pleasant, food absolutely great. Only downside was that table booked by phone 2 weeks previous but on arrival booking was not written in the book. However, table was found for our party of 6 so all's well that ends well.

I just want to thank Olive and Oil Hillcrest for the great service we had last night. The waitress was efficient and kept us up to date the whole time on our food as there was a large table that ordered before us and the food was delicious. Keep up the good work

Went for our night out on valentine's day and we where so impressed with the arrangements and setup of the evening. Champagne on arrival, seated inside in what was couples only area, lovely background music to set the scene and service, food and atmosphere was perfect.

wonderful services from Mlu and Sbo! I definitely will be back again.

I love the new transformation to the place, it has that coziness on the inside, and the outside seating has an amazing view as well, the music is soothing, not to mention the service of the restaurant, top notch, I am definitely coming back!!

Good food just eish they had a better breakfast menu. They would be good competition with the other restaurant in the same area. We didn't like the breakfast menu and chose to wait til 11am to order from the lunch menu
