For those that don't know, Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) is high intensity interval training (HIIT) with a focus on training in heart rate training zones. I'm my opinion, and experience, it is one of the best, if not the best workout you will ever get. My cardio fitness and general fitness have significantly improved with OTF. The workouts are focused on functional strength training, endurance, and some power. Workouts include the treadmill, rower machine and weight training. You can substitute the cardo with a stationary bike or strider. I've worked out at gyms, weight lifting and endurance training, for decades, since I was in my mid teens. I just turned 60, and about a year ago my nutrition coach suggested I try OTF (I had plateaued with personal training and working out on my own). It has been one of the best fitness and wellness decisions I've ever made, along with chances in my diet, supplements and general nutrition. Because I travel sometimes for my work, I've tried a number of OTF studios throughout the country. All provide a great workout. However, a key component of the workout, especially at your home studio, is the coaches and the clientele. All the coaches at Bankers Hill are awesome! Coach Lindsay M. R. is my favorite, but also like Matt, Ellie, Devon and Nicole. Front desk staff is always friendly and helpful. The clientele is nice, supportive and fun. Great energy and terrific vibe. When I moved from Las Vegas a few months ago, I went to half dozen OTF studios in the San Diego metro area. All are good, but Bankers Hill is the best, and it is my new home studio. One thing that isn't an issue for me solve I workout rarely morning is parking, but it is worth it. I've never had an issue parking and it is free street parking before 8am. I highly recommend OTF and specifically Bankers Hill do you live in San Diego metro or if your visiting here!

When it comes to workouts, I have tried a bunch: personal trainers, classes at 24 Hour Fitness, boxing gyms, LA Fitness classes, Xplode and other extreme workouts, Barry's Boot Camp...you name it. And they have all been successful in various degrees, but I never stuck with any of them until Orange Theory. What makes OTF stand out? 1. The biggest thing that makes them stand out is the quantifiable way of seeing your progress in a class. Being able to look up at a screen and see that I'm close to getting into a certain heart rate range encourages me to push that extra bit. Or conversely when to ease off a bit. And having a history of workout performances is the best. 2. The workouts aren't just "everyone run 10 mph forever and then go bench press that horse!". They are tailored to you and what your capable of because it's based on your heart rate. If walking uphill gets your heart rate to where it needs to be, then that's great. If running 15 mph does it, go for it. Just get yourself to where you need to be. After a while you start to notice improvement. Rates that would get your heart going at first start getting easier. 3. The workouts are interesting and the trainers are great. They mix things up, yet there is a consistency to the workouts that is comforting. 4. Nice bathrooms and water bottle refill station. It baffles me when gyms, especially targeted demographic gyms like bootcamps, don't at least have nice water bottle filling stations. Overall, I have enjoyed OTF and the results it has brought. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

This is for all the studios, La Mesa, Mission Valley and Banker’s Hill, all of which I consider my home studios. If you’ve never wanted to step foot into a gym, do exercise, or feel intimidated for whatever reason, OTF is the way forward to better fitness. I’m 70 years old, and this program works! It is doable! It is repeatable (sustainable) and you don’t feel left out on your own because you don’t know the moves. The coaches are there to help you and they WILL help you. Your progress is measurable (heart-rate monitors feed back in real time and results sent to your phone’s app.). I feel better after every session. There is freedom: I can add or decrease weights as I choose. It is convenient! I can book the classes, coaches and times that fit my schedule. When I book my participation in a class, it is guaranteed that there’ll be a spot for me. Environment is clean with private showers and restrooms. I feel encouragement from others. I can compare my results from class to class or week to week or month to month. I feel stronger, more steady, and more self-confident as I engage in exercises that I’ve never done before. I love it! If I can stick with a fitness regimen at age 70 (I go 3x a week), I don’t see why anyone else wouldn’t.

I am exceedingly impressed by everybody at Orangetheory Bankers Hill. I've only been a member since the beginning of December (it now being mid February) and I am always greeted by name. The workout is done in a class format, everybody working out together. The class involves high intensity interval training. The format is similar across the typical class, but varied to keep it fresh. Each class involves working out on the treadmill, working with weights, doing exercises relying on your own body weight, and the rowing machine. There is also a class offered less frequently called lift 45 that focuses on strength training in a 45 minute workout. The typical class is 60 minutes or 90 minutes. My fellow members, the place, coaches, and staff provide a very positive vibe. People are generally highly supportive and welcoming. That is especially important for me because I don't consider myself a gym person. Almost without exception, I enjoy working with every coach. A special shout out goes to coaches Zack, Ellie W, Nicole, and Matt and the manager Jordan.

I hated OTF at first. It was loud and I felt assaulted by the loud speaker and music. I felt shamed the first 5 classes when announcing myself as new. Yet I wanted people to know I was new when I couldn’t finish some of the exercises and wasn’t as fast on the treadmill. But after my first work I knew I wanted to try it again. After my 3rd work out I started to feel more comfortable with it all. Now 3 months in I LOVE IT. I am totally hooked. I love the coaches and their energy. I still don’t always love the music and how loud it is, but I’m a HSP so it’s all progress. The whole workout feels good now. I’ve never been athletic, and I haven’t felt strong in years and now I feel like I’m experiencing my body and what its capable of- at almost 50! I’m stoked that I made it past the initial uncomfortableness and have graduated to a place where I’m cool with some of the physical discomfort knowing that it will eventually present me with a healthier, stronger version of me. Thank you OTF!

I was grateful to have a chance to try a complimentary class. This is the first and only OTF I've been to. Overall it's not a great value for the high cost of classes, and the studio lacks amenities that is pretty typical within the boutique fitness market (complementary towels for example). The instructors and front desk are very warm and friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable about studio stuff (about kinesiology and fitness I'm not so sure about). The class goes by quickly with circuit-style rotations, great music, and a club-like atmosphere. The biggest issue for me was the *intense* smell of B.O. in the studio. This may be a result of the highly attended busy evening times. Still, it smelled like a fresh batch of french onion soup. I hesitate to say this because the managers may start using endocrine disrupting sprays to mask the scent instead of addressing the root problem. Anyway, it's not for me, but I'm grateful for OTF for letting me try them out.

Orangetheory at Banker Hill is my home outside of home it’s located in my favorite part of town, low traffic, easy to park. But the best part is the crew!!!! The coaches and staff in this branch are just next level! I can’t even pick a favorite coach to name because I love them all. The coaches are super DEDICATED as they take their time, correct your form and pump you up! Zach is the head coach and he has taught me some secrets to improve my performance on almost everything! Devon, Zan, Ellie, Vince and etc are all just fantastic coaches! The community is super friendly! Members are fun and the branch is super well managed by the studio manager Jordan! Who happens to be most amazing human being ever ! Take a class and you’ll know what I mean ;) And if you have never experienced an Orangetheory class… then you REALLY should. This HIIT (high intensity interval training) workout is science based and result oriented. Have fun!

I’m an unlimited member for OTF at another location. This review is for this location only. First of all parking is tricky. You might have to pay. They don’t seem to have a designated parking as far as i can tell. The waiting area is larger than others i have been to, but my two 12 year olds were not allowed to wait for me while playing on their phones. My girls are allowed to wait for me at other locations while I’m at session for an hour just behind a glass door. I have seen even littler kids wait on their iPads before at different locations as well. I don’t expect them to be liable obviously, but they are 12 for crying out loud. And finally of course I was not allowed to work out so I don’t know if it was any good otherwise, leading to a dead end for me and loss of over an hour on my vacation.

A great, very intense workout program that keeps me motivated through the ability to track your progress in a very detailed way. The manager of this gym, Jordan, has made this particular OT special and amazing, populating it with great coaches and positivity. Her care and leadership are a main reason I restarted OT and will keep patronizing this gym. Head coach Zack is also a huge highlight as his fun and encouraging coaching style really gets the most out of us during challenging workouts. He makes a good point of connecting with every member on a personal level and is always offering very helpful insights to improve our results. Really, every coach is great, and this style of gym routine, with tracking and accountability, is the only gym experience I have ever been able to maintain long term.

I love going to OT at this location! I've tried others in SD and the vibe just isn't the same. The coaches here are amazing. I usually go to Zack's classes because he's so encouraging! But I've also been to Josh, Devon, and Conroy's, depending on when I can fit my schedule in. They're all so positive and gets me a good workout in. The front desk staff are super friendly but I think there's been recent changes? Parking is sometimes sparse but not too bad, just coke a little earlier than class. This is a clean gym & they recently got new floors. I'd say the people that attend are also really friendly and I love how the coaches always encourage us to tell our neighbors good job! Will probably forever be my favorite OT gym! :) as I'll be moving soon, I'll definitely miss the classes here!

The best OTF studio I have been to last few years. The atmosphere was very welcoming and energetic to make me feel like come back for more at 6am in the morning. The front desk staff were very friendly and seemed to provide the customer oriented support always. The studio manager went extra mile so I don't spend extra when I had to transfer the home studio to other location. All coaches were very knowledgeable and amazing at motivating. They walk around the studio throughout the enter class time providing help such as correcting lifting forms and answering questions in between the workout call outs and demos. I've noticed that this is common in studios around San Diego. I've been to a few studios outside of the state and not all were the same. Thanks for the best workout experience!

Let’s be honest, isn’t OTF a rich house wive’s workout sesh. Definitely not! The only negative thing I can say is, I wish I hadn’t waited so long to join. I hadn’t worked out in years and as I’m nearing 40 my body was not happy with me. So I made the plunge to walk through the doors in July 2020. Jordan showed me the ropes and made me feel comfortable and welcome the first day. With zero judgment, she even calmed my nerves when I was anxious about the tread. Now I’m coming up on my one year anniversary and wanted to share my love for the OTF Bankers Hill family. I’ve been to OTF locations all over Florida and nowhere compares to the coaches, crew, music, energy, support Bankers Hill provides. This place and the people will truly change your life.

I am primarily a runner and have never been a fan of group fitness until I gave OTF a try. Additionally, I have never paid a monthly fitness membership as high as OTF. That being said, I have now been a member for almost 2 years and still love it! It is absolutely worth the money spent. My level of membership is for 8-classes per month. Eight classes per month is a perfect membership level as crosstrain to my running. I am a notably stronger runner with significantly fewer over-use injuries because of it. The coaches and front desk staff are always helpful, positive and delightful. Having the flexibility to take classes at any studio while traveling for work or pleasure is huge plus.

Lets start this out by saying, this studio is filled with amazing energy from the trainers, staff, and members. I have never been one to consider myself a fitness enthusiast in my life and I can honestly say the people at the Bankers Hill studio have helped me cross that line. I couldn't recommend a better place to start a new lifestyle if you are seeking a new comfortable place to workout. The "go at your own pace" or "your only competition is you" mentality is beautiful and all of the trainers are amazing at guiding you through each and every class! Hands down…this is the absolute best OTF studio!..not just for it’s boutique ambiance but because of all its employees. You’re always greeted with a genuine smile & they’re so welcoming…making it a point of remembering your name. Each and everyone of the coaches are absolutely AMAZING! They truly care & take the time to teach you the proper exercise move, individually, if needed, for best results. I feel their awesome vibe & energy, which only makes me work harder. I like the coaches and everyone is very nice and the workouts are good, but: -minus one star because my heart rate monitor hasn't been adjusting (the max HR) properly for months and they keep saying they will fix it and get back to me (x4 times) -minus another star because the coaches don't correct form nearly enough (not sure if they are worried about offending members?). It's not like I have perfect form but looking around the room (weight floor, rower, even tread), the forms are just really poor. Some of them even predispose to injury. Thinking I'll switch to renegade or F45 because whats the point if they won't at least fix my HR data?

OTF Banker's Hill is the best fitness studio in the city. The workout is amazing and you get what you put in, but what separates this studio from any other are the people. Jordan, the studio manager, has a way of making everyone feel welcome as soon as they walk through the door. The coaching staff is second to none. They are knowledgeable and always keep you motivated to constantly improve and comeback. One of my personal favorites is Coach Lindsay. She is very high energy and always seems to get the very best out of everyone in her classes. I recommend taking one of her classes, even if it is a 5am. It is well worth it!

I love Orangetheory Bankers Hill! The coaches are so positive and encouraging, the workouts are always different, and the playlists are the best! Since joining Orangetheory I have not only become physically stronger and fitter, but I find that my attitude about life challenges has changed and I'm much more positive overall. Orangetheory has helped to boost my confidence and self-esteem both in and out of the studio! Wow! In the words of Dom Toretto from Fast and the Furious “Family.” I love coming to OTF Bankers Hill because of the staff who make everyone feel like family right when you walk in. Behind the desk, Jordan (studio manager) always has a big smile, Jeremy is so welcoming and friendly, and Claire is the sweetest! Definitely recommend taking coach ConRoy’s classes, he has chill vibes, a positive attitude, and some corny jokes. I’m not much of a gym person but I keep coming for my mental health and my OTF family. You guys are amazing!

Orange Theory has been part of my daily routine for over 2 years now and I will never go back to any other gym. The staff at Banker’s Hill is incredible - everyone knows me by name and all of the coaches have such a positive, vibrant energy (even at 5 or 6 am, ha!). I’m amazed at the way this workout has changed my body. When I started, I struggled to run a full mile. Now, I run at least 2 miles every class. The Orange Theory benchmarks keep you accountable and always pushing to be better. Couldn’t recommend more!!

Great friendly and communal studio! The energy is always great here and the coaches, staff, and other participants are always friendly and warm. First on the studio itself, it's always a lot of fun to do OTF here with the great coaches and nice overall environment. Then, the Orangetheory workout itself is fun — a nice mix of cardio and weights and rowing, with lots of flexible options depending on personal needs. Each workout differs, giving you fun variety on each visit. It's been a great time going here!

I have had two different home studies prior to bankers hill. They were great as well but bankers hill is truly a family! Prior to the pandemic I used to only come 2 days a week. I started back at OTF bankers hill in June of 2021 and never looked back! I now come 5 days a week at 5am! The energy of the coaches and staff is just amazing. I am looking to move apartments and the location of my new apartment will definitely be tied to still being able to make it in to bankers hill.

I have completed 2 workouts - and they're great! I like the efficiency of the whole experience. From the app, to the heart-rate tracking, to the full-body workout --- I can tell how good this program is. Leaving class, I know how effective I was in that past hour, and I can track real numbers towards seeing real progress.And the coaches were super helpful on my first two classes, helping me with my form and understanding the technology used. Love the whole thing.

In all honesty, it took me a while to give OTF a try, but I'm so glad I did! Every class has been so challenging in a good way. I've been lacking in the cardio department, but OTF classes have changed that. I love the combination of cardio paired with strength training in the workouts. The coaches always have amazing energy and are great motivators. The staff working the front desk always greet you with a smile and are happy to help.

Orange Theory Banker’s Hill is one of the best gyms in San Diego. The front desk staff are always friendly and on point, Jordan does a great job managing it. LOVED my first class at the Bankers Hill studio. One of the things that I love about OT in general is the individual flair that the coaches bring to the class, and Kai was no exception. Front desk was friendly and awesome as well. Good studio setup, and it smelled great due to some amazing candle they were burning. Way to represent the fitness brand that I know and love!

OTF Bankers Hill is the best! You are always received with a smile by Audry and all others at the reception. Zach, Conroy, Nikki are some of the best trainers. They are all attentive to body posture while doing strength training and are always pushing and encouraging. I used to hate the rowing machine and now it is one of my favorite parts of the workout. Highly recommend for anyone that wants to build a workout routine into their lifestyle. The coaches are friendly and engaging, the workouts are always fresh and different, and they bring the music. You can turn your brain off for an hour as they guide you through a fun and intense workout - and pack in what might take 2 or more hours at the gym if you were on your own.

I just love every single coach I have worked out with here and the staff is just the best and the most helpful. The members are friendly and I love the vibe in general. I love that I can show up and know that the coaches are going to guide me through an intense and well-rounded workout. It makes it so easy to see the results I'm looking for. We liked the gym, but they are happy to screw you over with the cancelation policy. We had to move to an area where there was not an orange theory close enough to use, but they still made us cancel a full 30 days in advance in writing. Meaning we paid them $180 for absolutely nothing; services we couldn’t use even if we wanted to.

I have been going to orange theory for a year now. For those looking for a consistent routine, fun/encouraging environment, look no further! It’s personal training without the outrageous price! Class with Josh was down the best OTF class I’ve ever taken. I was visiting San Diego and decided to take a class while i was there. The front desk staff is SO welcoming and kind. Josh was an excellent coach with the perfect mix of helpful, encouraging, and caring. I wish I lived near here to take more classes at this location!

I started Orange Theory about a year ago and still look forward to every workout. My home studio is Banker’s Hill and I love the staff. They’re welcoming, upbeat and supportive. The exercise sessions are incredible and the coaches make the hour fly by. I burn close to 1000 calories a workout! Give it a try if you haven’t yet.

I really like how friendly the coaches are. They have encouraged me throughout the class and have made me feel like I am not alone. The front staff is also very kind. They recognized me when I went in on my second day and cheered me on for coming back, it felt great!

The staff are very helpful. I love the challenge of the workouts. The ambience with the loud music and high energy is great. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't so expensive. I do the 8 visits per month (2/week) and then Pilates 3 X's per week and it works for me.

I like that the class format is very different every day. Coaches are great and have so much energy. Orangetheory has made me excited to workout again, which has impacted so many aspects of my life. I am very grateful for the OTF crew!

Devon Szanto is the best trainer with the best playlist. I took her class after not working out in so long and she did such a great job explaining the workouts and going through the workouts! Definitely recommend taking her classes.
