Whether able bodied or mobility impaired, Oxley Creek Common has so much to offer picnickers, walkers, budding ornithologists & nature photographers, cyclists, and dog walkers. The walking trails add up to about 8km. There's also a pontoon for canoeists, and even room for bagpipers, who I've seen practicing there due to the area's local isolation - although I like bagpipes so can't fathom why someone wouldn't like to hear them play ;) The dedicated picnic area on the Rocklea side has a very well maintained cover and toilets for those groups that need the facilities, or plenty of verdant lawn to set up on. There is a large grassy area at the Corinda end, but no amenities that I saw.
Must visit place for bird watchers. If you are a birdwatcher and having a toddler be ready to walk for almost 3 km without any place to rest. The trail is flat so you can push the stroller but you can’t find a proper shade to rest. But it’s definitely worth the visit as I saw many new species. Just keep your eyes and ears tuned to the calls. Happy birding… :). The toilets are in the beginning of the trail In a small roofed shelter. If you are lucky you can spot possums (we saw three) resting on the roof. Once you have started your hike there will be no toilets on the way so make sure your bladder is empty!
One of the best kept secrets of Brisbane. The walk is a world class chance to watch birds. One hiker passed us and said that he had counted 126 different types of birds. The secret forest at the end of the walk is a cluster of ancient Bunya Pine trees whose ancestors date to the time of the dinosaurs and dinosaurs very well may have feed on these trees and their nuts. There is a beautiful lake out on this walk as well full of pelicans, swans and other birds. This is an easy walk on a groomed gravel road. If you look closely you may see eagles nesting in the trees.
A really gorgeous little 5km return walk along the river. The gravel isn't particularly loose, making it nice and flat for a run! You can veer off to the left approx 1.5km along the path to visit a wetlands area and Pelican Island, or continue along to the Secret Forest which has a lovely open field area. There's an undercover eating area and toilets, plus a large green area for open air picnics. Less than 100m from the carpark is a jetty for putting in kayaks and the like, or for fishing!
I love love love coming here during the week when there's no one here. There are sheepies and cows (sausage dogs of paddocks). The wind is so nice how it just comes through. You forget that you're between Rocklea markets and Oxley Bus Depot. It's a nice walk, unfortunately doesn't loop back around but it just means more time vibin. If the cows don't approach you, don't feel bad, you probably have bad vibes. Just kidding have fun, clean up after yourself girlies x
My favourite place to go bikejoring/dry land mushing with my dog. We’re both new to it so the wide paths and low traffic is appreciated so we don’t stress about annoying cyclists like we do on most bike tracks. The dirt paths are easy on her feet (don’t wear down paw pads or burn them on hot days like concrete does). Freshwater creek inlet about halfway down the track (I believe for canoe launching?) makes a good rest, drink and cool off spot for the dog when it’s hot.
How cool is it to be able to run a good distance, see some incredible scenery and halfway through your run you make it to a beautiful secret forest. Not to far from where I live - the only problem is that it is soooo popular getting a park is a pain. But it you are just going for a walk you can stop to look at the cows and bulls. They come pretty close. Don't try to pat them, that's not on. But it is still cool. Check out this Bull.
Nice and quite good place to relax and enjoy the wildlife. Lots of different birds to see, great place for bird watching. Farm next to it, and a dog area to. Bbq areas and toilets are close by. The path is good for wheelchair accessible and prams great for bike's to. There are seats along the path as well. Good place for the whole family. Highly recommend going to have a look.
Fantastic place for a leisurely bushwalk along the path which wends around the paddocks with grazing cattle. Beside the carpark there are several tables, and there are bbq and toilet facilities, plus a tap with potable water. Great place for birdwatching, with many superb fairy wrens, red-backed fairy wrens, rainbow lorikeets, magpies... and lovely butterflies.
This is one of my places to spend an early morning or late afternoon. The area is beautiful and well maintained, with a gravel track that takes you through fields and groves beside a creek. The area is popular among bird watchers as well, who are often more than happy to have a chat about the local wildlife.
Good place to go for a walk in nature. See the cows and native wildlife. Feels like you’re out of the city for a little while. Good path for prams and wheelchairs. Great facilities at the park entrance but could do with better servicing. Often out of toilet paper or extremely soiled.
Great place for a walk or jog. Dog-friendly, as long as they're on a leash. There were plenty of bird-watchers out and about when we went, and no surprise why - it was teeming with them. Worth a look.

A great place for a walk or bird watching. There are number of areas to explore. Walking to both tracks (Pelican Island and Secret Forest) takes less than two hours at a casual pace. Cyclists and runners seem to like this place so be cautious as the zoom past.

So worth while visiting. Easy level walk to the Pelican lakes or to the hidden forest. Hard to think it is so close to the city. The volunteers do an incredible job and service, maintaining the area
The facility is well maintained and clean. Lots of birds and wild life in the area of walk. Stay away from the farming area and keep you dog on leash at all time. This is a beautiful habitats.
Great place for a run in nature. It's hard to believe you're in the middle of suburbia when in the common. It feels like a combination of bushland and farmland miles from anywhere.
Stunning and well maintained. Hats off to volunteers and community groups that call this place home. Good walking tracks. Heaps of birds and butterflies to take photos of.

Love visiting this place, really great 6km circuit. Bit rough in bits but heaps fun zooming along in my electric wheelchair. Plenty of parking available for easy access.
What a beautiful little spot.. dog park bbqs and a huge wide open space! Access to oxley creek! Looks great.. stopped for lunch will definitely be back with the family!
The Oxley Creek makes for a nice cool walk for the summer with plenty of birds, and the friendly cows and sheep in the neighbouring paddock are definitely a big plus!
Very peaceful and nice walking track. BBQ Facilities, toilets, and drinking water. One of my favourite spots.if you are lucky you might spot some cpws and sheep's.
Nice place for a walk. Paths are clearly marked and well maintained. Good spot to do some bird watching. Take a water bottle if you are doing the longer walks
I watched a program on urban birds so was keen to visit. There were too many people around to see anything much. I hope it is left to be natural.
Beautiful green space. Peaceful. Good for barbecue, walking, bird watching, photography. Have interesting local plant species...
nice walk along the river, the Pelikan island is a nice pond with many water birds ..
