I wish there was a 6* from making a general enquiry for keyhole lap spay, to check in, to surgery I am speechless. Our little rescue is a little nervous of crates, so was admitted to a walk in kennel instead, Parkhill is not her usual vet, but we wanted her to have the keyhole surgery, and at the right time as persistent phantom pregnancies have been problematic, the lapspay equipment was currently unavailable at our own vet, her notes were transferred and today everything has been seamless. We received a text message shortly after the admission to provide an update on pre op meds and bloods, and just a general update about how Annie was, then shortly after surgery 2 hours later a telephone call to let us know everything had gone smoothly, that she was awake and comfortable following surgery, and to agree a collection time and handover. At 2:15 pm she was fit enough to come home, during the handover we were then given a full run down on the surgery, the meds, her temperature, and a full discussion on her 3 and 10 day check up which we can carry out with our own vets, nearer home. From reception, to nurses, to surgeons I am completely speechless about the customer service and unbelievable dedication to animal welfare. She was also allowed to take in her own blanket, favourite toy with our scents to help ensure she felt more settled. She came straight home and tucked into her favourite sea bass dish from Tarbetts fish mongers in Wetherby! We are absolutely blown away today and beyond grateful to all staff - Thank you! We would not hesitate to recommend you.......:)

I contacted parkhill to take a wood pigeon for assessment after being hit by a car last week. I have kept him in recouperation and cared for him since then and he is now eating drinking and improving day by day, the only issue is that he cannot fly. As pigeons just accept pain and do not cry out like we do, I wanted to see if the reason he couldn't fly was down to an injury that could be fixed by pain relief or antibiotics. Under advice given from wildlife aid I was told I would not be charged as pigeons are wild animals. Parkhill did not agree and told me I would have to pay for treatment as they are classed as vermin. Wood pigeons are protected under the wildlife act!! How nice that a supposed organisation that claims to care for animals only truly show compassion as long as they benefit financially, otherwise they are euthanized. I took this pigeon to Westwood vets at Boston spa who assessed him without charge and determined that he had no obvious breaks and was not in any pain. They found signs of head injury and swelling, but said that if I was happy to continue caring for him there was no reason why in afew weeks he could not fly again and return to the wild. Every animals life is worth saving and if anyone reading this agrees that all wildlife should be giving a fair chance then avoid taking an injured animal to parkhill.

If I could give less than one I would!! We moved down here in January and not long after living here our cats started being unable to walk on it’s leg, we contacted them after advice and recommendations on local groups and was absolutely shocked with the awful treatment we received. It’s took us 3 days to get an appointment when ringing up, followed by an appointment with a rude obnoxious vet who diagnosed our boy with a suspected broken leg told he will need to have pain meds and X-ray, my husband thought we had thee pain meds at home but after I checked (10 minutes later) I called them back to say we didn’t. They promptly told us they couldn’t have pain meds available for another 4 days as that was policy and to wait till then to hear from them plus sometime in those four days when they had time they’d send us over a quote for an X-ray. Absolutely no rush on them at all. We on the other hand we’re beside ourselves as our boy was out of character and visibly stressed. We chose to seek a different vets opinion the next day and I’m glad we did as there service was 5 star. After waiting we heard nothing even when the four days came. I called them and left a complaint but heard nothing back. Would AVOID at all costs. Clearly they care nothing about the health of animals and like to see them suffer.

What an amazing Veterinary practice! We’ve used Parkhill Vets in our family for a number of years and having had a recent encounter with one of our young dogs, after various tests and quick actions by Gordon, Bosley was diagnosed with Chronic Hepatitis. Bosley was operated on by Graham (who was superb) using Parkhill’s new of state of the art laparoscopy unit. Bosley didn’t realise at the time what a lucky boy he was having all this new whizzy equipment!! He was cared for by the staff for 10 days and we just cannot praise them enough. The nurses and vets were just outstanding in caring for Bosley, continually nursing him, trying to feed him in all sorts of ways which we know was incredibly difficult (!), but their perseverance was fantastic. The reception staff are always incredibly friendly and go the extra mile, nothing is ever too much trouble. The professionalism Gordon displays is second to none and is in our eyes the most amazing vet you will ever meet. He is officially our Super Vet! I genuinely would recommend Parkhill to anyone and to everyone at Parkhill, thank you again to you all for everything.

I cannot praise Parkhill Veterinary Surgery enough. Having moved from Wetherby to a place about 45mins-1hour away, I have kept with the practice. This is for a number of reasons which I list below. Keep up the amazing work. 1. It is very clear that the vets who run the practice focus on collegiality and teamwork. For example, Natalie who I saw today has worked for the practice for 25 years. 2. With that level of teamwork, the level of tailored communication skills to pet owners is top class I have never felt undermined or rushed, unlike other vets I used before Parkhill. 3. The vets who run the practice will communicate directly with the owner. Again this might seem a small thing but I'm always concerned about how messages can become distorted if 'pass the parcel' is used. For example, last year, one of my four legged friends was seriously ill and sadly passed away. Gordon, one of the directors was calling me every day, sometimes twice a day, to give me progress reports.

This weekend I experienced the value of a veterinary practice which provides its' own 'out of hours' cover, So many practices farm out this service, today, but not Parkhill Veterinary Surgery. Parkhill's own veterinary team provide this cover themselves. My three Golden Retrievers contracted a very nasty sickness bug and, one after the other, succumbed over the weekend and I needed to make emergency calls on three separate occasions. On each occasion Gordon Dunlop responded to our emergency and through his examination and treatment my dogs avoided the necessity of being admitted for IV fluids. The outcome could have been so different had it been necessary to see three different 'stand in' vets rather than my own vet who knew my animals. In the ten years of being a client of Parkhill Veterinary Surgery I have experienced only thorough and professional care. Thank you, to all the Parkhill team, for your care and attention.

Just a quick note of thanks to Parkhill Vets for responding as soon as they could to my call for help for my friends horse which was "down in her field" this afternoon (10.5.21) when other vet practises we had phoned couldnt or wouldn't help her. John Baird came as soon as he could but sadly due to the horses age (32), and after his experienced and quick assessment of her condition, the kindest decision was made so she wouldn't suffer longer than necessary. This is the 2nd occasion I know of in recent years when Parkhill have been able to step in and help a horse needing urgent help when other vet practises haven't been able to. Parkhill vets have and still do look after my family's dogs brilliantly and I have no hesitation in recommending them to anybody who has a pet or animal needing help.

My 5-year-old American Akita suddenly became very ill and thanks to thorough examination, quick diagnosis and action, he survived ‘Ileo-Caecal-colic Junction Mesenteric Volvulus’ (rotation of lower intestines in this case – very serious stuff!) against all odds. I feel very fortunate to be registered with Parkhill Vets Limited. I simply cannot praise everyone at the surgery enough. The professionalism, kindness and patience of everyone just blew me away. At every key stage, all options were explained to me so that I could make the best possible decisions for my dog. You and your pet are in the very best hands should you ever need them. Special thanks go out to Kate D. for “throwing everything she had” at my boy and saving his life. Thank you! J. Hirst

On the plus side - Have used them for years and most of the vets are really fantastic and there are some great vet nurses. Most of the vets are willing to spend a little extra time to putting the dogs at ease and this makes a big difference to us. The facilities are good and there's plenty of free parking etc. The 24 hour emergency vet facility has been very helpful to us over the years! On the down side - There have been a couple of occasions where something one member of staff has said has been contradicted by another one and it has lead to confusions when paying - they really need to work on clarification at times and unfortunately today, the two older lady receptionists were incredibly rude and patronising, which always puts a downer on things!

  • Jane Robinson

I have been using Parkhill Vets for over 25 years and the service and treatment provided is second to none. Parkhill Vets has excellent facilities and state-of-the-art equipment, and the caring team have a wealth of experience and expertise. I would like to thank Gordon, who I trust implicitly, not only for his knowledge of medical science, but for his commitment to always providing a standard of excellence – and for his patience with me! The nursing team deliver an excellent level of care, understanding both the needs of our pets and reassuring worried owners. Finally, a big shout out to Julia and the receptionists who are extremely friendly, helpful, and professional at all times. Thank you, Parkhill – you are amazing! Jane & Millie x

  • Tracey Simpson

Tracey smith - our beautiful fern was rushed to the vets after an accident whilst on a shoot. She couldn’t have been looked after any better. We had never been there before. No questions asked they looked after her amazingly. The receptionist and nurses were amazing. So kind and thoughtful. Dan - wow what can we say. He explained everything fully even gave us his own thoughts on what to do for our beautiful fern. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given as much time as we needed to say our goodbyes An amazing team and surgery and will always know we did the rite thing for our girl

  • Marcus De Storm

A lovely building set back into the countryside outside Wetherby. The receptionist's are polite and courteous, as are the Vets that tend to the animals. The waiting area is always clean and tidy, and the atmosphere isn't really like a Vets. They looked after our Best Friend and the advice was simple and clear. Just had to put our best friend, family member of 14 years to sleep. The Vet was very kind, courteous as well as understanding to our sadness and loss. At times like these this is not easy for the pet owners, but at the same time, it cannot be easy for the Vets either.

  • Sarah Mcbride

We had our almost 18 year old cat put to sleep here this afternoon. The kindness from the lady who greeted us and helped us to the vet who put her to sleep was of such comfort - especially as my 13 year old son wanted to be present. Geri (after the spice girl) was made to feel really comfortable and laid on a pre warmed blanket where we stroked her before she was put to sleep. It was a very peaceful experience and I’d like to especially thank the Vet who dealt with us - your kindness meant such a lot and your obvious love of animals was apparent. Thank you so much

  • Deimante volkova

Would like to say massive thank you to Graham and all Parkhill team, who took care of my dog. She been suffering from cherry eye infection and been left to wait for her surgery by other vet, as we been told it’s not an emergency during cov19 situation and we was left just to wait.. Parkhill vets provided surgery and took care of suffering dog. Friendly staff, highly recommended, with experience who will listen, explain and take care of your pet. Wouldn’t go anywhere else. Thank you very much, I do appreciate what you all done for my dog when we needed the most.

  • Julie Barker

Have been with the practice for 30 years and can't thank them enough. Over the years they have taken care of our dogs through to the end with great compassion and care. Last week we had to let one of our horses Sophie go. The most heart breaking things we have ever gone through as she has been part of our family for 18 years. I want to say a very deep thankyou to Natalie for how you looked after Sophie and myself. You are a very kind and caring person who I will thank and trust with all my animals. Parkhill vets are more than a vets to us.

  • Chris Hall

Over the period of three months we unfortunately had to make the decision to have our horse and dog put to sleep. In both instances the service offered by all the staff we encountered was exemplary. Our animals were treated with dignity, respect and compassion. We were treated in a similar manner which was greatly appreciated during such a difficult time. Particular thanks to John and Emilia who dealt with us on these occasions. I would highly recommend this practice and would not hesitate to use them again ourselves

  • Bramble Rowan

The wonderful team at this practice have helped us look after our pets for nearly twenty years and we wouldn't go anywhere else. Our collection of dogs and cats, plus the odd guinea pig and a horse at first too, have always received exceptional care. In every way possible the staff demonstrate their dedication, their knowledge and expertise and, importantly for us, are always willing to spend time talking to the owners. It is rare to find such exemplary and personal service. Thank you for everything that you do!

  • Doug Paulley

These people are very professional and caring. I've been with them around 20 years, since before they moved to these new custom- built premises. They have an old- fashioned sense of care and commitment, whilst keeping up to date with the latest technology, and are friendly and very helpful. They are fully accessible, very helpful for disabled people, and go the extra mile for their clients, furry and human. They keep prices as reasonable as possible, their health plan is worth having. I recommend them.

  • Hounds with Hannah

I started using this practice 2 weeks ago for my Labrador, so far I've had 3 appointments and all 3 vets who are saw were amazing. So kind, caring and genuinely interested and passionate about their work, so friendly. Very impressed with each appointment running to time aswell, not kept waiting. The vets were fab with my dog and reception team when booking the appointments have been really helpful and friendly too. Not seen any nurses yet, but I'm sure they are just as lovely. 5******

  • Angela Martin

Over the last 6 months two elderly labradors have visited the team at park hill more regularly than they would have liked, however I wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone on the team, as each time they deal with stressful situations in a calm manner and the respect they show for our dogs never waivers.I witness this in the carpark too with outside consultations, and see that its not just my dogs who get looked after so well, its everyones pets. Thank you. Angela Martin

  • Robert Neilson

I've never been to a vets where so much care is give to the animals in there care from accepting them in for treatment to the attention they are given at aftercare The staff are very attentive and caring Giving dietary advice and the like It is a place that has extended over the years the team has grown but has lost none of the spirit it was known for that personal touch Its a place you can trust with the care of your animal family

  • Beckie Doran

The most fantastic vets I've ever dealt with. They got us in the same day as I was concerned about dog, Charlotte & Lucy were so kind, caring and reassuring. I didn't feel rushed like I have done at previous vets, they took their time, examined him thoroughly, explained everything to us and made us feel so at ease. They really go above and beyond and their care was amazing! I'm So pleased I've found such a wonderful surgery!

  • J. C.

The only good honest kind professional vet was Andy Lightbody but he left this practice. Park Hill Vets, GD is a bully and GT new business strategy is flawed and not to be trusted. Defo not transparent. Anyone with common sense will detect there is something amiss. No longer upper market. Used to be good until recently! The receptionist team are very friendly and trustworthy though, and most of the nurses. Watch out.

  • Clare Smith

I cannot thank you enough for sorting my dog's fractured jaw. Dan the vet phoned around to find the best and most appropriate ongoing referral centre and kept me informed along the way. He then phoned to make sure the plan had worked out. I so appreciated your help and felt that you cared about getting the best treatment for her. All staff have always been incredibly helpful and friendly. Thank you so much.

  • Brontay Gomersall

Cannot speak more highly of this amazing team! Had a recent emergency with our much loved dog Holly, the vet responded quickly and with complete professionalism keeping us well informed and up to speed. Cannot thank the vets and nurses enough for the expert care and attention given to both Holly and her owners at this very upsetting time. Delighted to say we now have her back home with us where she belongs.

  • Jacqueline Stevenson

My dogs have been looked after at Parkhill vets for 15 years. All their care has been excellent but recently the eldest collapsed and I cannot fault the service we received from the minute I rang, to being given an urgent appointment, to staff being on hand to take her straight out of my arms. Thankfully all was well but the service was faultless and I cannot praise Parkhill more highly. A fabulous vets.

  • sara orme

A big thank you to everyone at Parkhill. Every time I ring the receptionists get me an appointment as soon as. My recent visit Nala had a steroid inject due to harvest mites, the nurse was so gentle with her. The nursing staff are so lovely with my little cat Nala. They give her so much attention & always treat her with such care. Also thank you for the reminders for when she needs to have a check up.

  • Sarah Wright

We have used Parkhill Vets for many years, they have always been friendly, professional, and caring will all our pets from our hamster to our two Cocker Spaniels. Gordon has a wealth of experience and the animals are definitely his top priority. It is always easy to get an appointment and there is plenty of parking. I would recommend this practice if you are looking for a vets in the Wetherby area.

  • Emily Penticost

After adopting our cat from the RSPCA in York, we were in need of a vet for his regular check ups, treatments, etc. We decided on Parkhill and couldn’t be happier with them. They are professional, helpful, caring, and their expertise is second to none. Their love and compassion for animals (and their doting owners!) is exactly what we look for in a vet. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

  • Jane Kanani

So impressed by the level of customer care here. They really take time to talk to you and explain everything clearly and the veterinary nurse today was amazing. He made me feel more relaxed about my dogs procedure and covered all basis. My dog was more than happy to be held by him and disappear off without a second glance back! Receptionists are excellent and nothing too much trouble.

  • Wendy Cochran

I had to call Parkhill out for an emergency with my horse. Over the course of 2 days they 4 times. The care they gave was second to none. Sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, we lost the horse but Natalie made a very tough day so much easier by being both professional but also very kind. When I really needed her she dropped everything and was with me in 10 minutes. Thank you

  • Adam Hamlett

What a wonderful group of people. Our cat went missing from the Hull area and months later a kind hearted person brought him in to Park Hill Vets. They in turn got in contact with us and we drove the hour and half to collect him. Thank you for keeping him safe and well overnight. He is home and loving his food and warmth, and playing with his brother. Amazing people. Thank you.

  • heather park

Staff are all very friendly, always have a smile for everyone. Vets and nurses are first class. Had to have our family pet put to sleep almost 3 years ago. I couldn't have been treated any better, the vet and reception staff were so compassionate. I recommend the practice to anyone who asks me if I know of a good vet. They are the best and our new puppy would second that!

  • harriet darcy

We would highly recommend Park Hill Vets. We found the nurse to be very nurturing towards my dog when he went in for his minor procedure. It was a delight to collect him after his procedure to be happily cuddled in the nurses arms wagging his tail. Both the nurse and the vet gave excellent clear explanation in laymen's terms and have provided excellent after care.

  • Mel Young

Excellent service, my pets have been with this practice when they were Dunlop, Hutchinson and Baird on hall field lane. The staff are very friendly and the actual building is so inviting. You don't see many dogs refusing to go in. It's very calm and when you are feeling tense or nervous about your pets health they never rush an appointment. Great team X

  • Tamsin Stentiford

Been a customer for several years. I think my dogs would give them minus stars but they hate going to the vets! Ha Always found the reception staff and vets very helpful and friendly and never difficult to get an appointment. Have taken my dog abroad (Europe) a couple of times and they've always been very quick and efficient with the paperwork.

  • Clo

We have used Parkhill vets for many many years (over 15 in fact!). Always absolutely fantastic with all our animals: horses, cats, rabbits and dogs (poodles to be exact!!) All the staff are lovely and I quite literally trust them with my life (animals) on a regular basis. Thank you as always, Chloe, Ernie and the rest of the furies!

  • Arta Z

I can trust this place for 100%. The doctors and nurses are amazing! They really know what they are doing. Had 2 surgeries done by Graham for my little Italian Greyhound. He do some miracles ! Thank you all the staff and doctors! I couldn’t be more happier! I’m so grateful there is such a place to take your pet …

  • Yan Stevenson

Our Westie Bobdog has been cared for here since February. After 4 years of struggling with a skin problem with another Vet, we feel that we are on the road to good management. His skin is better than it has ever been. Parkhill is an excellent Vet and you really feel they care about your pet, and not just pushing drugs.

  • Nick Gray

Unfortunately we decided to leave the practice due to the cost. Prices over the last couple of years seem to have increased a lot. When we asked to have our documents transferred to our new vets we had to ring on numerous occasions to pass out pets documents on. It’s a shame because it use to be a great practice.

  • Julie D

I am always very confident and happy with the service I receive from all the staff at Parkhill. My Cockapoo has a blood illness, which has involved many vet visits over the years. The dedication and commitment from Gordon to keep him well has been excellent. I have no hesitation in recommending Parkhill Vets.

  • Olivera Clark

I've been taking my dog to Parkhill for a year now. Each visit has been a positive experience. The reception staff and veterinary staff are all very helpful and professional. Test results come back quickly and diagnoses are thoroughly explained in understandable terms. I would recommend Parkhill Vets.

  • Minky Musky Sly Old Foxy Stoat

Excellent veterinary surgery. The staff are wonderful and so interested in the health & well being of your pet. We changed vets to come here, our original vet was less than 0.5mile from our doorstep - Parkhill is a good 20min drive away but so so worth it.

  • David Hardcastle

Excellent service. Sylvie brilliant vet. Wouldnt go anywhere else. 22/8/22 We needed a large dental operation on our rescue Cairn Terrier. Gordon and the team have done an excellent job. Our little boy Biscuit is so much better. So thank you to you all.

Our cat, Suesi was limping badly and is about 17. We were very worried but the vet was marvellous and diagnosed her claws were long and needed trimming as one had gone into her paw pad. Gave her an anti-inflammatory injection and next

Some younger vets can be a bit patronising but I guess that is the same everywhere. The established partners are, obviously, more experienced and better suited to a proper discussion about your pet's symptoms, diagnosis and treatment.

We recently took our 4-year-old Doberman Wispa to Parkhill vets – she had been underweight since a puppy and we couldn’t get her to put weight on. She has a hereditary clotting disorder and we could not find a vet who would undertake

Expensive. My mum took her dog for an op. Everything was more expensive (aftercare) and the staff didn’t explain very well what costs were or the procedure. Compared to the vets I take my dogs to, it was poor... but I bet they’re not.
