I go to and from Penrith 5 days a week by train, and the station is pretty good, and only a short walk from where I need to go. Only a couple of problems. First of all, there are no vending machines on platform 3, or on the concourse (unless you go through the gates, but I don't want to tap off just to get a snack or something to drink), so you'd need to go to platform 2, then back to 3. Also, outside the station on the North Penrith side has been very dodgy since those apartments opened up. There are a lot of thefts, vandalisms, etc. One day, my dad told me to wait there so he could pick me up. While I was waiting, someone who appeared to be in their late-teens left the station and came up to me, asking if I smoked. I told him the answer (no), then he asked if I wanted a marshmallow, because he was holding a bag of them. I did the smart thing and said no, because you never know what's in them, but he gave me one anyway... Soooo... Yeah, if you're entering or leaving the station, just avoid North Penrith altogether and go through Belmore Street, it's much safer
I feel for the staff. They are so few due to things outside their control but they do impart wisdom sometimes. I'm learning to get around on a mobility scooter sometimes. At Kingswood there was no-one on the platform and of course the lift is inaccessible for the bigger scooters :( so I had to push the emergency help button to get boarding assistance. All worked well, a normal help button would be good. I get to Penrith and the guard gave me a mouthful for not getting to Kingswood early enough /oh well I was there 8 mins early. The train had arrived at a different platform, what a surprise. The lady helping me off gave me good advice, and a rocketing, of riding through the carriage to the other door so I could come off frontways. Awesome advice but how would I do that at peak hour? I learned another lesson as to why the vestibules of trains are back to back. Moral of the story. When I ask what platform the train is arriving at at the destination it's so I can safely disembark.
Penrith as a train station is exceptionally good. It's easily accessible, trains at most, every 10-15 minutes. Close to Westfield and all. Although as a student I am not pleased with its departure at Stand B 780 to Mount Druitt. It is consistently late. Specifically 6:52, 7:05 and 7:31, where it arrives the station at 7:35-50am++. It's becoming bothersome as train times are not as facillitating. Students and adults have schedules to meet, and a majority of us are accepting that at some times, traffic implicates the buses. But unfortunately it's become so regular. I hope this sees TransportNSW well, this is a really good train station but its buses can't keep up with the schedule. Improvements here and there would be great!
Large residential suburb located at the foot of the Blue Mountains in Sydney's western suburbs. You'll find Westfields opposite the train station, so easily accessible via train. The main street is also packed with shops of all descriptions, so you'll always find what you're looking for. Not far away you'll find Penrith Panthers League's club. The Vegas of the West. Well worth checking out if you're looking for somewhere nice to eat. Always great shows here. Mulgoa road where Panthers is located on is also worth checking out as you'll find lots of businesses along here as well.
The Penrith Station sits in a strategic location of the suburban area of Penrith in Sydney, where trains run through several lines connecting the city centre, through Central, to the western parts of the city. It's quite clean and quiet for the most of the time, and the facilities here are well maintained, with kind and helpful staffs stationed here. There's a plenty of parking space and several public amenities around it, as it's situated smack-dab in the centre of the local neighbourhood, making it a convenient stop to travel around the area.
Easy access to station with lifts. Undercover bus shelter and bike shed. Brand new concourse with lots of room to wait. Toilets on platforms and on concourse. Lots of parking. Huge airport like waiting area on platform 3 and a bag storage for those travelling on the NSW TrainLink XPT and Xplorer Trains to Dubbo and Broken Hill. New upgraded station close to shops. Bus access to Mt Druitt, Leonay and Emu Heights , Springwood and Faulconbridge, Glenmore Park, Regentville, Windsor, Richmond, Warragamba and Llandilo.
Just asked for assistance the best and fastest train schedule to go to where I’m going. Not very keen to help especially when she’s holding the mobile apparatus to check it. And her coworker also interrupted by saying the train just left going to Blacktown Station was a fast train! Thanks such a big help guys! Especially people like me don’t catch public transport very often because I DRIVE most of the time. Unless it’s in the city I have no other option but to catch a bloody trains or buses!
We accidentally left a backpack on the train to Lithgow last Tuesday, 27.2.18. All staff at Penrith station couldn't do enough for us to find and retrieve it. The stationmaster at Springwood was contacted, found it and sent it back to Penrith, and we had it back within half an hour. Wonderful staff at Penrith station, cooperative, understanding, professional, and they went out of their way to help us. Thank you all so very much.
It's an interchange station and a cool station and a bigger station than all the other stations thanks for a cool and a big station. This is near to Westfield penrith.I went there and I saw that all Intercity train where stopping here. This is the last part of western Sydney and all trains which go to blue mountains stop here. It is served by T1 western line services.
Twice now! My mum has a mobility cart two people now have said they can’t help her with a ramp and myself have a dislocated neck and a leg degenerative disease so I’m extremely disappointed in the staff here absolutely disgusting first time we had to try and get on train my mum fell off her cart because of it staff didn’t help or take responsibility disgusting!
Probably the most unsafe station in Sydney. Full of various trouble makers and anti social kids smoking in platforms and messing with moving lifts causing them to malfunction. Train staff just ignores you and walks away if you try to complain coz its just another day for them.
It's a decent train station, not much else to say. Don't park on the Westfield side, parking there is tight and fills fast. Instead park in the large carpark on Aviators Way. That's also the best side to drop off and pick people up as there's plenty of places to pull over.
The carpark is great, if you arrive at 6:30am before it's completely full. Why didn't they build it 8 levels high and twice as wide? The fact it's full before 9am and you have to park on the street several blocks away is a joke. I may as well have walked from my house.
If the trains could actually leave when they’re supposed to instead of leaving a minute or so early it would not only make peoples lives easier but it would just be common decency to leave at the time that is stated, people rely on that information.
Westfield very nearby. Train station is clean and spacious. One of the cleanest train station toilets I've been to although it was quite frustrating and difficult since it didn't have a bag hook on the door or anywhere in the toilet...
Ideally located close to Penrith Westfield (Plaza). A bit of a hike to the football stadium but doable. A decent amount of parking but fills up quick. Since the timetable change trains to the city are every 10 to 15 minutes.
Nice and clean station with plenty of parking spaces. Shopping centre is within walking distance therefore making this station a very convenient. Regular express train to and from city also depart from this station.
Lots of smoking people everywhere. Pretty difficult to get by without being bombarded by smoke due to some being inconsiderate. I had my packages stolen twice. Lost more than $500. Otherwise it's okay.
Station and trains are ok, but where you drop and pickup is a joke, every time I go there, to pick my kids up there is no where to pullup cars are.parked there, no one in the cars all gone shopping.
Has " Westfield Plaza" with Myers, BigW, Woolworths, Aldi, a KMart in Centro shopping centre. Office works, Aldi again. McDonalds, Red Rooster, KFC and a variety of boutiques and cafes.
Absolutely disgusted. I went to pick a disabled friend up from the station & there was nowhere close to park to pick him up, all turned into taxi ranks
i feel like everytime i go here one of the lifts isnt working, or the bathroom is out of order...it's not a very big station, so it's weird.
Decent station and a connecting trains to Blue Mountain via Springwood. Vending machine in all platforms. Lift access is also available.
Maybe Westfield should get magnetic strips like Maroubra junction on trolleys so they are not abused and left next to cars and buses?
New upgrades are pretty good. My favorite is the extended multi story carpark. Plenty of space all day every day. Good job TFNSW
Staff there today and always had been very helpful we need ramp assistance. Always friendly kind and happy to help thank you.
Parking ✔ Clean ✔ Good service ✔ Lifts ✔ Need a coffee/food van outside Let me know Penrith Council I'll organise! …
Functional station, busy during peak times with all stop and express services to the CBD and to the Blue Mountains.
It's really relaxing and calming to take the train and you have beautiful scenery where you are going
Been here since 1980 and what it grow now road are very busy and a lot of pot holes in some street.
It's a train station with all the amenities. Best thing about this station are the express trains.
This was my second visit to Penrith. I liked that place as it was quite, clean and not crowded.
One of the better train stations out there, near the Westfield which is very convenient
There is a lot of diversity in Penrith if you want to look for it and it is worth it
Why is the Indian man who works in the evening so bitter and twisted? So rude!
Surely Transport NSW could establish a kiosk on the platform 2
Good train station with different options and on time trains
there are indeed trains here. not impressed, 6 stars
Will be a top station once all works are completed.
Penrith is a growing city..the future looks bright
Just similar with other suburbs, nothing exciting.
THE TRAINS ARE VERY BIG AND LOUD I DON'T LIKE THEM
Great station with both standard and rapid trains
It’s a interesting area, quite feral and unsafe.
Lots available. Great access to all kinds places
Have train and bus times available at all times.
The jewel of the West with everything you need.
Good for express trains but parking is limited
Great station directly across from Westfield.
as expected. lot of police around though
Penrith is a City, so it is always busy.
