I've been holding off making a review as I hoped things would get better. I've been going to this location for over 5 years easily. they USED to have great service, not sure if this location is now under new ownership or new management, but the customer service here is severely lacking. The last year or so staff has routinely changed to a now entirely new staff at this location. They very seriously lack any sort of customer service skills or professional candor. it also would seem that they cant get a steady groomer for more than a few months, though I think this reflects on the groomer vs the store. As of today, I will be transfering my patronage to the location on 17st and 34 ave (approx) as I have finally had enough of the sheer ineptitude at this location. A few weeks ago we called to have our dog booked into the groomer, as the groomer doesnt have a direct line, we left a message with the store to have the groomer give us a call back. we waited, and waited, no call. So we followed up to be told that the message wasnt writen down originally so it was never given to the groomer (back to my point about inept), So we left another message; or so we thought. Once again, after a couple days, and a followup, we still hadnt heard from the groomer. Finally we got a glimmer of hope that our dog was booked in, 2 weeks away at that. Called to confirm the appointment today, only to be told that our appointment had been canceled because the groomer didnt want to see our dog because "we complained about not getting called back". VERBATIM that was the reason I was given. Dont give this store your business, especially when there is another location that is friendly and helpful just a few blocks north.

Update: The support team got in touch with me and let me know a manger from the store will get in touch with me but never did. Okay, I really dislike this store because of just one staff memeber. She is a little younger with blonde hair I believe she is the manager maybe but anyways everytime I have come here its been a negative experience, you can tell she doesnt want to help just by the tone of her voice and is bluntly very rude. I just got a puppy and I went asked a few questions and it was her helping me and it literally seemed like she wasn't interested and didnt want to help. I live closer to this one and i chose to go to the further ones due to this happening a few time but recently I went in and I dealt with a different staff member and she was so helpful and made me understand my question a litte better.

I initially thought Pet Valu was a place for people with extra money to get high priced items for their pets- why not just walmart or superstore? But as a new puppy parent, I came across a lady named Bridget at this store and she has made me realize WHY people go to stores like this- they care about your pet like you do, and want the best for them. Bridget especially has been so kind and given me tips and tricks no other pet store associate from any store has ever given me! She makes me feel like a VIP shopper even though there are lots of tasks for her to tend to, and my puppy loves her too. I live 15 minutes away from this location but it is my preferred one for showers and bigger hauls because of Bridget! That lady needs to open her own pet store and show these franchises how it's done!! Will ALWAYS be back :)

Most of the staff are friendly and informative. They get to know you and your pets needs, and go the extra mile to help you. Prices are mostly competitive. You can bring your dog or cat here to bathe, while standing, as they have 2 huge tubs. And the cost is very reasonable. They recently hired a New Dog Groomer!! She is friendly, personable and does a fabulous job! She cares about your furball friend and the prices are reasonable and competitive. She also remembered my dog from working as an associate to the previous dog groomer who left and opened her own shop. Side note: The previous groomer was very good until she went on her own. I did follow her until her prices increased to size of her attitude and ego. ( became too good for her own good... which wasn't good for me or my dog).

Worst customer service I’ve ever received from pet valu. I’m very disappointed. I go to pet valu for the great customer service but at this location is horrible. I went in with my 14 month old daughter, who I was holding and they didn’t ask me if they could help me or if they could get what I needed. After getting and paying for my large bag of dog food, the cashier said bye and turned around and talked to the other two associates that were standing there watching me struggle with holding my daughter and carry the large bag of dog food. Just horrible. I won’t be returning. Even though I have four out of twelve bags on my account.

This is the worst pet valu in Edmonton. The employees are always rude, the dog wash stations are broken half the time. During COVID they changed their appointment rules every 5 minutes without sending out information, so you would show up and be told you need to make an appointment. Then the next time you call there isn’t an appointment making rule anymore. I’ve been going here for 6 years. And for the first 4 they were great. They have employee turn around rate like crazy and whenever I have a question, it usually cannot be answered. You’ve lost my business and any friends and family I have that go there as well.

We had the great pleasure of popping in to our new Petvalu in our new area today in Millwoods - fantastic staff! Very knowledgeable about products, great suggestions and prices + sales! Up to 80% off on selected items Our very fussy pup - who only likes Orijens Duck treats - ( we’ve tried so many brands/types with no luck) He devoured the Pigs ear and Bull sticks!!! Great little pet shop in the Laurel area, the stuff in store can be quite pricey and the few times I went, although there's not much staff, they always make up for it by being attentive. Great selection of pet supplies over all with pet food, collars/harnesses, and other supplies. They also offer grooming services and have an open shower area for the pets. Overall, good location and fair selection of goods being offered to choose from. Will definitely come back again!

I went in tonight to get some new cat food for my kitty who is having issues with hairballs. Bridgette was SO AMAZING at answering all of my questions and validating the research i had done, and she helped me pick a new food for cats with sensitive stomachs. She also suggested a new hairball treatment for my cat as well! amazing customer service, Bridgette! it's service like this that will make sure i dont visit any other PetValu in Edmonton.

This store has a wide variety of pet foods from many different producers. In my experience the staff members have been friendly. Parking in front of the store is usually available except during peak shopping hours (there is a Save On Foods next door). Unfortunately the product pricing is not always labelled on the shelf and you have to ask for pricing at the till. The store is clean and well organized.

Went for the groomer who was amazing ! The store its self was meh the girls did really say anything to me. And the one girl seemed annoyed cause I had my dog. He is pretty well trained and stays close to my side. He never gave her a reason to be annoyed. The groomer(Kayla) was amazing she took the time to get my dog comfortable and she went at his speed we will be seeing her again

The staff are always super helpful & kind, they have a good selection of inventory for a good price. And the groomer Kayla is AMAZING, i highly recommend seeing her. She is awesome and our golden doodle is so happy having all that hair gone & cleaned up ! She did an amazing job and went up and beyond what she could have done. Will definitely be a long term client of hers.

Dawn is a wonderful groomer who took exceptional care of my fur child; and, I must say, has delivered the best trim-and-tidy for his breed (dual coat) that I have seen to date! The booking process as well as appointment duration were flexible and she really works with her clients to put them and their furry clients first. Thank you for freshening up my fabulous boy, Dawn.

Not happy with the groomer just late for 10 mins and she canceled my schedule and ask me to go to 66st street for a new client what the heck I thought she is awesome lady .. because you got a lot of customer you dump ur customer ryt away and ask to go to new pet salon .. what a crop.. poor customer service .. don’t wanna go to this store ever ..

Love this location. The manager is super awesome. The other staff(girls) are really great to. They listen to our cat stories. Love going in and seeing the kitties that they have up for adopting. Their Odor Destroyer cat litter is the best litter in the market. Almost no dust and really clumps well and doesn't stink after 2 weeks with 5 cats in my household.

Not a fan of this location, the cashier was too busy texting on her phone then helping me, asked about a product and she couldn’t even help me out. She said she went and asked someone else but I think she just walked the isle and came back. Not impressed! Will never come back to this one again. Put your phone down and help customers.

Went here for a dog wash, the friendliest pet value staff I’ve ever seen was in this store. She was super nice to me and my dog, and at the end of the wash, when I asked her for a specific dog puzzle that she did not have in store, she gave me helpful suggestions instead. Definitely my favourite pet value yet.

This location is my absolute favourite! The staff know my dog by name and are always so helpful. My little old dog is extremely excited every time we walk in because he knows he will get some treats and loving from the ladies here. They're super helpful and have wonderful customer service.

Staff here are super nice. Big location with alot of options. Specialized selection of high quality pet food and pet supplies . Don't sell pets but they usually have some critters or cats featured from local rescue organization which is a huge plus!

I love this smaller pet supplies store. Only one staff member was on, but due to the store's size she could help everyone and it felt like more of a personal experience. I'll definitely be returning. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff member.

Came here once to buy a retractable leash. Not much for selection and good pricing but the staff member was super friendly and tried to be helpful. I would return just to be helped by the staff again.

$10 to wash your pet with free shampoo, blow dryer and towels. By far the best deal I have seen. Extremely friendly staff and plenty of food options. Overall great place.

Love the dog Wash for only 10.50 I can wash my dog they provide shampoo and conditioner and treats it's so much better than doing my huge beast in my small bathtub
