Walking into a veterinarian clinic is often akin to entering a scratch-n-sniff nightmare -- all eau de animal. So imagine my surprise as I found myself at this establishment, not out of choice but due to the saddest of circumstances. Yet, I was greeted not by the stench of defeat but rather the reassuring sterility of cleanliness. My trusty ol' pooch was playing his last hand in the poker game of life, and fate decided that this clinic would be the casino. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas... or in this case, what transpires in a vet clinic at the 11th hour, stays with you forever. There is a punchline in here somewhere, but even I, your reviewer with the comedic sensibilities of a late-night talk show host, understand some moments are too important for jests. Indeed, this clinic was my sole beacon in the wee hours -- my usual 24-hour emergency vet had clocked out on us. I say 'us' because my 11-year-old son had assumed his role as man-of-the-house, determined to accompany me on this final journey. As we made our grand, heartbreaking entrance, I felt an air of understanding. Everyone from the staff seemed to want to envelop us in a comforting hug -- they refrained due to professional reasons, or maybe they thought I wouldn't appreciate a wool-sweater static cling scenario. Either way, the empathy was palpable. My faithful dog, my first and only canine compadre, left us before we could say our goodbyes. Yet, the team helped us navigate the aftermath with gentle, supportive guidance. In life, they say that timing is everything, and death seems to follow the same rulebook. I was quoted a timeframe for receiving my beloved pet's remains, only to find them delivered early. It's almost like they say, "Why be late to a funeral when you can be early to a wake?" Silver linings, folks, silver linings. The remains were beautifully presented, boxed in wood, with a paw imprint that was more emotionally moving than any Van Gogh painting. My son cherishes it, and I can’t blame him; it's a poignant memory from an episode of our lives that was less sitcom and more drama. As for the clinic itself? It was as though Martha Stewart decided to switch careers to veterinary care. Spotless, well-decorated, without a hint of animal-based funk in the air. This review is more than a star-fest. It's a genuine thank you note, a hat tip to an establishment that was a lighthouse during our personal storm. So, here's to you, the compassionate, understanding folks at the clinic - you made an awful night a little less terrible. And to those reading this, I hope your visit will be under far happier circumstances. If not, know that you’re in good hands. And no, that’s not an Allstate reference. Okay, maybe it is. I told you I can’t resist a good joke.
Lack of care. I went here at 5:30am on a Sunday morning and waited for an hour and a half. I was taken into a room with my dog and vitals were run. At the hour and a half mark a new tech came into the room and said they are going through a shift change and to be safe I should expect to wait for an additional 2 hours. When I arrived I was only the second person there. Why should my pet and I be punished for a shift change? You should address your current patients first. Again, I was the second person there. My dog has a UTI concern which I caught earlier and was hoping for a prescription to help her avoid further sickness. The entire conversation with a vet would have taken maybe 5 minutes but they couldn't seem to spare it. My dog has severe anxiety and I couldn't sit in the room with her for three and half to four hours. I understand prioritization of care but if you can have a 5-10 minute conversation and give the dog some antibiotics based on symptoms described why not do that? On the phone prior to me coming in they mentioned labs, ultra sounds etc....I don't have the money to pay for these added tests. I have an existing vet but they weren't open on Sunday's. Phoenix Veterinary is more concerned with upselling you services (before an actual exam) than helping your pet and they should be embarrassed about the service they offered or lack there of. They claim to advocate for pets but when an owner is telling them the pet's exact symptoms because this is recurring they can't speed up the process. I was very polite in asking if we could speed things up and get a vet in the room but I was met with a lack of care. I'd want priority if my pet my critically ill but it seems that pets come in all day so when would have time been spared for my pet? If your dog is not actively dying then expect to keep getting bumped down the list. For $160 office visit you would expect better service but they lost my business and I left. Don't waste your time or money here there is another emergency clinic on the 101 and cave creek road.
We were referred to Phoenix Veterinary by our family vet to help us figure out what was going on with our dog Izzie and we were pretty scared considering her condition. Izzie is a three year old mixed breed diagnosed with valley fever which was causing fluid to build around her heart in her pericardial sac. The fluid buildup was so bad that she was in heart failure and in very critical condition. Before going through the more intense surgery Dr. Wells and Dr. Rizzo recommended a tap to be performed (by Dr. Wells) and an echocardiogram with Dr. Paige to make sure they could see everything before getting Izzie into the OR. The tap went very well with Dr. Wells, giving Izzie some much needed temporary relief. Dr. Paige, who performed the echo was very thorough, honest and compassionate but unfortunately for us, what he found was worse than we thought and not a simple procedure at all. At this point she had constrictive pericarditis and needed surgery ASAP. It was one of the most nerve-wracking days to drop Izzie off for surgery but I'm so glad that we did. Before taking her into surgery Dr. Rizzo walked us through the risks of the procedure and what exactly the approach was going to be. It really hurt to hear that the risks were high for her situation, but we needed to know that this may be our last time seeing Izzie, and to potentially say our goodbyes. Dr. Rizzo, Dr. Wells and their team kept us up to date throughout the surgery as they hit certain milestones and to confirm the direction forward. It is without a doubt that Izzie would not be alive today if it wasn't for Dr. Rizzo, Dr. Wells, Dr. Paige and their support staff doing everything possible to save her. We are forever grateful to Phoenix Veterinary for giving our sweet Izzie Bear another chance at life. As an update: Izzie is in recovery now and doing very well considering her situation.
I had the best experience bringing my sick dog to Phoenix Veterinary Referral. My pup started coughing and vomiting overnight and seemed to get worse throughout the day. We debated bringing him in to an ER vs. keeping a careful eye because, as everyone knows, you could potentially wait HOURS and pay thousands to get your sick pet worked up. But, after we felt like he needed to be seen by a doc, we decided to bring him to this center. I called ahead and the person who picked up the phone said to come in immediately if we wanted to be seen soon, which we did. When we arrived, the whole ER was super clean and modern. They took my dog's information and symptoms and he was seen immediately by a tech to be triaged (aka to make sure he wasn't in any life-threatening danger). They had us wait in a separate room because my pup was coughing and they didn't want to put the other animals at risk in case he had something infectious. We waited in the room for about 15 minutes until a vet came in and told us what she thought was going on with our dog and what she suggested to be done as far as work-up. Since I was still nervous about the cost of the whole visit, I expressed this concern and she very graciously prepared a printout outlining all the tests she suggested and how much they would cost, so I could pick and choose which ones I could afford/thought necessary. All in all, the visit was quite affordable, we did not spend much time waiting thanks to calling ahead, and the staff was extraordinarily nice! They truly do care about yours and your pet's wellbeing. I would 100% recommend this vet ER to a friend, and I absolutely would return. Thank you!
So a saturday I bring my dog in because he's shaking and not eating. I go and get seen by the vet. And the vet gives me the overall impression that things are okay. Other than the fact that, like any other medical facilities, they cost stack. Adding xrays and charge you 179 EVERY time your dog comes in. Per the SUPER cold and SUPER rude tatted punk sitting behind the counter. So I walk in and this person does not even look up from the computer....there's only 1 person sitting in the waiting room. She doesn't even look up and says, "what do ya need?" I had my dog in my arm in a pillow since he's breathing shallow and hasn't eaten in 4 days. I said, I have my pup. She still doesn't look up and says...name. I give the name. And she says, "It looks like we didn't do anything the last time you were here. Which was Saturday, today is monday." I said well ya charged me almost 200. So something was done. She said it was just an exam. And it's another 179 to have your dog seen again." Cold....as....Ice her delivery. Her facial expressions were soooooooooo clearly stating she hated her job, or me, or whatever. I said after the 179 revelation. "No thanks I'll go somewhere else". She then lights up!!! "Here...here's a page with, in a CLEARLY obvious change of tone, cheaper options for you." I said money's not the issue. Your attitude is." I left. She didn't try to say sorry or anything. She just let me go. Take your dog to this place at your own risk. The Vet and oth we r staff on our previous visit were GREAT!! I mean GREAT!!!. But this front desk "cancer" is enough for me to go elsewhere.
The 1 star reviews are spot on with this place. Called at 6:15 am because my dog has had diarrhea for several days, and had been up all night with explosive diarrhea. The gal on the phone was super nice, I explained he was not responding to the rice - chicken diet, and that I thought it was an infection and our primary couldn’t get him in until the next day. She I should come in right away to get triaged so he could be seen after the Dr’s do their rounds at 7. We don’t live far, I got there only to find the door locked. I was standing out in hurricane like rain and 50 mph wind with my shivering dog. There was somebody inside, so I tapped on the door, he turned around and went inside a another door. So I called the number again, same gal, said they would be out in a minute. Well, a very rude, larger, dark haired, pierced cheek lady came out, acted like I was a total inconvenience to her, and immediately told me that diarrhea wasn’t an emergency and it would be several hours for him to be seen. (The place was empty.) Then she asked if I had a primary, I said yes I do but he’d been so sick and they don’t open until 8 and they can’t get him I until tomorrow. She was really rude telling me that I would be better off taking him to my own vet. Zero compassion. Then why did they tell me to come in? Don’t waste your time on this place.
Phoenix Veterinary and Referral Center is by far the best emergency vet in the greater Phoenix area. I had several major emergencies with my dog who isn’t the easiest to handle when I am not around. Not only did the staff do an excellent job with him, but they also made sure that he got the best care possible. The staff was caring and compassionate, and even made sure I got all the updates I needed, which was especially welcome when my dog had to visit during Covid and no one was allowed inside. The cost was comparable to any emergency vet as well. They also offered more than just kibble and canned food - they supplied Just Food For Dogs which is a whole food lightly cooked fresh food diet, which is EXTREMELY rare to find at any vet clinic, and a welcome addition for my boy who is used to fresh and Whole Foods. Thank you for taking such good care of my boy and me! PS - some of the older negative reviews were from before the clinic changed hands. My dog visited after the clinic was sold, and I wouldn’t take him to any other emergency vet in the greater Phoenix area unless I had to. I have been to MANY emergency vet clinics over the years - I’ve been in the dog profession for most of my life - and this is one of the better Emergency clinics I’ve been to.
I appreciate the care our 17 year old cat Hud received here. He was diagnosed with pretty severe renal failure and they hospitalized him for a few days to stabilize him. We got our sweet, happy boy back and he was feeling much better. Unfortunately a month later his back legs suddenly stopped working and we had to rush him back. The hospital was at full capacity, but they were kind enough to quickly triage and still see him. This really meant a lot to me because the next emergency vet was far away, and we were already familiar with their facility and staff from the prior hospitalization. While we were waiting, he quickly decompensated, suddenly becoming short of breath and drooling. The staff quickly rushed him back as soon as we notified them. Sadly it was his time to go, and they compassionately euthanized him. Thank you Dr. Sullivan. They were busy, but still allowed us time to be with him afterwards. The company they used for his cremation was also great. I expected his cremated remains to come in a disposable box, but he was placed in a nice wooden box, and even gave us a small clipping of his fur. We also ordered some paw prints which were just so special. Thank you again.
This place was great for treating my dog who got bit by another dog. The bill was $750. They gave some antibiotics and said if the swelling gets worse to bring him back in for a follow up. Well, 2 weeks went by and it looked like the infection didn't go away so I thought to bring him back in. The staff had changed and I did not expect such a long wait time. Plus the seat I was given in a room by myself made me very uncomfortable. I suffer from my own medical issues and I spoke up that I was uncomfortable and in pain. They finally brought my dog to me with another prescription since the first one did not work and they gave me a whole new bill for service. I asked for a discount since it was a follow up and they gave $4 off. I think the second large bill was unjustified and inappropriate. Then we had a billing problem with my card so I had my mother contact them to pay and the reception girl at the counter would not let me leave. She kept me standing there in pain threatening to call the police if I left. Mind you they had all my information and my mother was on the line paying the bill. I could not believe the rude treatment toward me in my condition. I will never go back there.
Don't take your cats to this emergency clinic! I brought my Tabby in at 930am for a possible bladder infection due to blood in her urine. By 1230pm I called to check on my cat, and I was told that a physician would call me back. 3 Hours later...someone called to say that they have a work up ready to go but need my permission to do a urinalysis?!!! What?!! It took 6 hours to ask for my permission for an in house Urinalysis! The work up they proposed was almost $600, I only wanted a urinalysis to confirm and medication if positive. It took them a few more hours to do an easy urine test, and I had to approve a new cost agreement. They said I can pick her up and she was ready to go. However, when I arrived it took 45 minutes for them to take my payment and release my cat. I was told the extra 45 min. Wait was due to unforeseen emergency dogs who needed to be handled and released first. I watched several cars come after my arrival, and leave before I did!! I told the young girl who brought my cat out, that I was VERY unhappy with the service provided. Her response was, "That's okay!" Ugh, NEVER again will I return to this place!!
Awful place. Our pup broke his leg and this was unfortunately the nearest place open. We were fortunate enough to have the cost to cover what was required but it was no small quantity. When asked if we had not been able to come up with the money they said they would not have done anything for our pup. They called for payment before starting treatment which had been hours after we had dropped him off. They then suggested we have his leg amputated, which of course was another huge out of pocket cost that they have no payment plans for. we told them we didn’t want to do that and they said his leg would never properly heal and he best we could do was bring him in for weekly leg wraps which were $200 each time. Fortunately we took him elsewhere for a second opinion who asked who in their right mind would suggest an amputation for a pup who simply needed a cast on his leg and some rest. What do you know two months later our little guy is running and jumping around like nothing ever happened. Always look for a second opinion and do not trust the “vets” here. More like heartless scammers.
I have been to this vet many times over the past 15 years. I have had nothing negative to say until today. The lady at the desk was was rude to me. She couldn’t understand what I was saying thru my mask. The way she spoke to me took me by surprise. Then the vet tech who came out to talk to me was also super rude. When I was trying to tell her what meds my dog takes she interrupted, didn’t let me finish and said, “ I can’t!” Picked up my dog and left. I’m not sure what that was about. Then I saw the vet and she was incredibly rude and condescending. I honestly don’t know what I did to deserve the treatment I got. I was so upset I was going to leave without my dogs medication but they just happened to bring it out as I leaving. I was in tears. The woman who gave me the medication was kind and apologetic. Dr Patel, the supposed professional here, is so cold hearted. I would have never expected her to talk to me the way she did. I’m seriously upset not only for the way I was treated, but I don’t think my dog was properly diagnosed and the visit was a huge waste of time and money.
SCAM Brought my dog in for labored breathing and coughing and was able to be seen quickly. The vet suggested X-rays of the chest and abdomen to check for pneumonia. The cost was $900 so I suggested we only X-ray the chest and was told that’s not possible. He insisted I get the X-rays done and mentioned that things could worsen rapidly within 24 hours and we wanted to avoid putting him on oxygen. I was told he had pneumonia after the X-ray was completed. He suggested a $200 antibiotic or 24 hour hospitalization with antibiotic injections. I purchased the $200 antibiotic and brought him home. I also requested the radiology report and didn’t read it until I got home. The results on the radiograph said that there could be signs of early pneumonia but did diagnose it definitively. This guy tries to scare people into paying for more service than they should. I’m not sure what the vets name is bc it’s not on the paperwork but hes terrible. Again not sure his name but if you get the bald vet, RUN. Side note. Megan the vet tech was very nice and communicative 5 stars for her
The care for my dog was excellent. However, the front desk person named Catherine, I think, wasn't so great. I needed to drop my dog off to be cared for while I was at work. I called ahead to set that up and she gave me attitude because I told her I may not be able to answer my phone. She said that if they couldn't get a hold of me then they couldn't give care to my dog. It was like she didn't understand that they could just do what they needed and then talk to me about everything and charge my debit card when I got off work. Which doesn't make sense to me because they are open 24 hours and you're allowed to leave your dog there even after the care was given and pick them up later. I authorized them to do what they needed to do before they took my dog so waiting to talk to me until I got off work should not have been a problem. I recommend this facility to a certain degree because my dog was well cared for BUT if you have to work the day you're taking your pet there and need to be able to talk to them after you are off work, this probably isn't the place for you.
I usually don't come to this particular hospital, when any of my dogs have been in distress or hurt. I decided to try it, and I'm thankful they were so caring. It was late on Friday night, I had my dog, two weeks out of double knee surgery, and screaming in pain. I was a hot mess. They were short techs, which unfortunately is everywhere, but they let me know and kept me updated. If my dog was critical, I would have appreciated the steps they took, to take care of her. They checked her vitals, to make sure she was stable, and suggested I take her home to wait, since she was so stressed out, and leaving her alone wasn't an option. Everyone I came in contact with, was kind, caring and most of all, honest. They also said, if her Vet couldn't see her in the morning, to please come back. In saying all of this, they didn't even charge me. Thanks to everyone working Friday night. I appreciate you all! You made such a difference, after a month of barely any sleep, since she had hurt herself, to the two weeks of caring for her 24/7, I was exhausted.
Took my cat there to be treated for a UTI. The bottle of antibiotic was OPENED and they likely removed some of the medicine as there was not 15ml in the bottle, which at the prescribed dosage of .7ml should have been enough for slightly more than 21 doses. I only got 18 doses from the bottle. The Rx does not say how many days to give it, but only every 12 hours with food. Calling to get a refill is an option on their phone line, and you can leave a message, but no one calls back, as getting a refill is only possible by bringing my pet in for another exam/emergency fee and testing to valid that she still has the UTI. So I am off to see the vet that I normally take my dogs too as I am not paying another emergency fee when all I need is a refill of a Rx that I was actually shorted on in the first place! It is sad that they do business in this manner and I am wishing that I had brought my cat to my other vet in the first place - the fee would have been the same and I wouldn't be having an issue getting a refill on a Rx.
They had me sit in the parking lot for over an hour with my sick puppy KNOWING they only had one doctor and wouldn't be able to get to everyone. After over an hour, someone finally came to my window telling me I needed to go somewhere else. Never once talking to me about what was going on with him and that because he stood up in the seat, that he was "acting normal." There was so reassurance about how he was doing or recommendations. I'm a worried puppy mom and had no idea what was going on with him, why he threw up 8 times within the 45 minutes before I brought him in and why he was refusing food, which he NEVER does. I get being busy, but I could have spent that time looking for somewhere else to go and there is NO reason they couldn't have told me sooner. They basically threw a list of other vets at me and went on their way. When I called, maybe 20 minutes before I got there, they told me it was a 2-4 hour wait. I have no idea what their vets are like, but their customer service was terrible.
Had to take one my dogs in for emergency treatment after he was attacked by a neighbors bull dog. Was quit pleased with how quickly they took him back while I completed the paperwork instead of making him wait. They also asked if it was ok to give a shot of pain killer which we appreciated and gave permission to do. After about 15 minutes they brought him into an exam room and the Vet came in within a few minutes later. We were quite pleased that they avoided x-rays and other services that would have added significantly to the costs since they determined his tail was swollen and had a few puncture wounds from the bite. They recommend to schedule a follow up in several weeks unless he develops signs of an infection or other problems, in which case they said bring him back immediately. So far so good, he appears to be recovering nicely with the help of the meds they prescribed. Thank you guys for taking good care of my little buddy.
I took my daughter's dog (I was dog sitting) a couple of evenings ago. The receptionist and the assistant were professional and had a lovely demeanor. The vet called me (we had to wait outside because of COVID) and was thorough in her assessment and recommendations. I am a physician and was able to have a high level conversation. I felt very comfortable with the quality of care, as well as the detail the vet provided (even when she didn't know I was in the medical field at first). We were emailed with the blood work results and a follow up call to make sure we received them. I wish human health care would work so well. And the clinic was busy, even at 12MN, though I didn't feel rushed or brushed off when an acute emergency came through and the vet had to tend to it. All in all, a really good, quality experience and this is where I will go for future emergencies (though hopefully those will be few and far between!)
My experience at this veterinary clinic was somewhat mixed. While the staff was generally friendly, and the clinic appeared clean, there were aspects that left me feeling indifferent. On the positive side, the veterinarians seemed knowledgeable and caring. They provided adequate information about my pet's health, and the facility maintained a standard level of cleanliness. However, the service felt a bit impersonal, and there was a lack of that extra touch that makes you feel confident and appreciated as a client. The waiting times were longer than expected, and communication about the procedures could have been clearer. In summary, the clinic met the basic requirements, but there's room for improvement in terms of customer experience and efficiency. It's an okay option, but I might explore other clinics for a more comprehensive and engaging service in the future.
Don’t waste your time. I’ve had to take my boy to another emergency vet, because they were unwilling to perform necessary testing because they thought we were lying about him not having ANY access to toxins. They accused us of allowing our dog access to cannabis products, and on the paperwork the the other vet requested from them, there are a ton of accusations about this being an ingested toxin. Thank goodness we went to a different vet who actually listened and diagnosed our boy with an infection in his brain. They were incredibly rude when I called and asked for his test results to give to the new vet. I spoke with my dog’s primary vet, and she was blown away at the lack of treatment based on the exact summary written by this facility. Avoid at all costs, I just hope their lack of care doesn’t cost my boy his life.
I arrived with my dog at the hospital with severe breathing problems, we were first in line. We sat and waited in the waiting room for over an hour. After an hour, a girl named Abby came in and very rudely explained to us that the dr was seeing another patient even though we were told that the dr would see our dog first and we would have to wait more than another hour. They could have told us that there was an emergency long before they left us and our very sick dog in an emergency and she suffers a lot. Abby service is really inhumane and against the law. When I went to my car One of the employees with pink hair (refused to give her name) approached me and decided that I had to leave the building. She really yelled at me and behaved rudely, which I would not have expected.
I brought my cat Keanu in on New Year’s Day for an injured leg. It was super busy but the staff was so helpful. It’s difficult to operate under these Covid protocols but I feel like the staff had it managed well. It’s hard not being able to be there for your pet but I was phoned and updated throughout the process. I hate to admit, I forgot the doctor who cared for Keanu, but her assessment was comforting and reassuring and gave me the needed aftercare instructions. It’s been little over 2 weeks and Keanu is healing wonderfully and I truly appreciate everyone that helped me and my cat on that day! If I ever have an emergency again that I can’t get my pets to their regular vet, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring them here again.
I don't usually write reviews, but I just had to after visiting Phoenix Referral and Emergency. Not only do they have the best specialists, but their ER doctors are a cut above! Every time I have visited or my clients have visited they receive the best care and it's one of the cleanest vet clinics I have visited. The Dr. care about you and your pet and show a level of compassion and expertise that are quite impressive. I would recommend this clinic and it has become the only clinic I trust with my babies. I have referred many friends as well and they all are blown away by the level of service, knowledge and compassion. Two thumbs up, way up!!
Brought our doggie whom we love and care about in because she was coughing after eating and we were worried she was choking because she has choked on her food before. I appreciated that they didn't charge us, but the staff were rude and condescending. In fact we could hear them in the back with our dog making fun of the situation because she wasn't choking, and just had some allergy cough or something. That's really unprofessional and made us uncomfortable. Maybe people who have the profession of caring for animals could appreciate pet parents who just care about their dog and want to make sure they do the best for her. So rude.
I very rarely review anything. But, after seeing these 1 star reviews, I had to write about my experience. I took one of our stray cats to them with a bum leg. Tuxie was my quarantine buddy, and I wanted to help him. We dropped him off, and they continually updated us on his situation. He had an abscess on his front right leg. Dr. Moezi constantly updated us, and did a fantastic job in surgery for Tuxie. He even called us every few days to make sure he was doing well. Tuxie is now part of our household, and is doing great. Thank you.
Love them!! Took my sheepdoodle because of him being in distress and very ill. They quickly listened to me and then promptly got him inside (i couldn't get him in, too heavy). He required emergency surgery and they had him taken care of immediately. He is expected to have full recovery. I tried Vetmed first and after waiting 25 minutes for someone to help get him in (he was unconscious), I finally left, no body ever came to help. If you have a true emergency don't go there. Go to Phoenix Vet Referral and Emergency.
We drove 45 min to take our sick puppie. The lady at the front desk didn’t want to attend us and right away said we should go to the camel back clinic. We decided to stay and be seeing there and when she gave us the forms to fill out she yelled at us” grab it” today is Sunday 08/12/23 in case the manager see our comment and can fired this person. We left the hospital and decided to go to the Avondale urgent care. Please be more sensitive and professional. I would never go to this place again.
We brought in our 16 year old husky, as we thought she was having a seizure. The staff helped us right away and were very professional. Dr. Yamamoto was great. She helped explain what was happening with our dog and provided detailed care instructions during discharge. We have had the unfortunate experience of having many visits to emergency vets over the years. Phoenix Veterinary was great, one of the better ones. Their pricing is also reasonable in comparison to other companies.
We’ve used Phx Veterinary a few times for after hours pet emergencies, and have always received great care. Our most recent visit was no exception. While the staff was quite busy and dealing with a/c issues, they were still friendly and helpful to me and everyone else who came in. The techs and Dr Y were really patient with my difficult dog, and Dr Y did an amazing job stitching him up. I always recommend this place for after hours or urgent care. Keep up the good work!
We had our puppy in last February and had great service. More complications with our puppy this past week 8.5.21 and had unsatisfactory service. Never got back to us on test results. Gave us meds and treatment and puppy still not better. Spent 800$, called today to talk to someone about our concerns, no Dr or technician is available. The receptionist was VERY rude. How disappointing. Now we have to go to another ER! Pay more money and start over! Nancy D with Bellina
We took our dog there at 6:30am. There was a sign to call between 12a-7a, so we called. We were told “it will be a minute.” When I asked another question I was hung up on. We waited 15 mins and called back and were hung up on again. I called back one more time and was told again “it will be a minute.” I asked how long a minute was and was told I should go somewhere else. Would not recommend this place at all. Went to VetMED and was treated very well and seen quickly.
Our furry baby passed away unexpectedly at home and the level of care we received from the staff here was phenomenal They went above and beyond what I expected especially having never dealt with us ever before. We even received a sympathy card a few days after dropping her off to be cremated. Something they took care of setting up and taking care of for us (at 1/2 the price quoted by a couple other places) I'll definitely go back to them with our other dog for sure !
Be prepared to wait! We didn't even see the veterinarian. Sat in a room waiting until finally the technician took her to the back. When we were finally able to have our cat looked at...it took just 5 minutes for a diagnosis. I appreciate all that our veterinarians do, however, for a hospital, maybe get more help instead of just one doctor for all. Waited 3.5 hours when we were told it would be a half hour at the most. Besides that... appreciate the help and care.
Jen, Kat, and Christine are the best. Highly recommend and would return (especially to them!) if needed. The staff is professional and kind and walked us through everything that they were doing. They also didn’t mind that I called a million times to check in! Helped us take care of our pup who hurt his front leg after escaping the backyard. We came in after hours, and then again for a follow up and they treated both my pup and myself so well. Thank you guys!
5 stars for the awesome staff that saved my little guy Murphy. He was hit by a car and I wasn't sure I was going to get him back home safely without the help of Dr. Rizzo and surgery tech Kelly. Although we did end up spending quite some time in the office, the whole team was incredibly kind and understanding as I had my "sad mommy meltdown". I'm happy to report that Murphy is home all put back together and I have this wonderful office to thank.
The physicians assistant thats overweight with pierced metal studs in each cheek of her fave is scary as hell and disgruntled , Scowled + blatantly annoyed by my puppy that barked + jumped in the waiting room. Creepy , off-putting . The 2 at the front dest w/ colored haired + face piercings lethargically rattling off the price points for cremation was creepy too. Would not go back to this place if some one paid me.
I could not recommend this place enough. They are very pleasant to deal with and they explained all our options. Our Great Dane was very well taken care of. Price was extremely reasonable for emergency services. Staff was very friendly. Thank you so much for taking care of our boy. He is already doing 100x better and we are happy with our decision to bring him to your establishment. Thank you again for everything!
I brought my 11 week old pug puppy into the vet, she had collapsed after possibly being bit or stung by something. They had her in the back within 10 seconds. They worked on her quickly, got meds and an IV in her and watched her closely. I've been coming here for years whenever I've had an emergency on one of my animals. I will continue to bring my pets if incase of an emergency. Thank you guys!
Our puppy jumped out of the car while we were driving slowly through a neighborhood. We called and drove straight to the facility. Even though the waiting room was full (it was Easter), they saw him immediately and took care of our guy! Incredibly thankful for how loving these doctors are! Place is clean and staff is loving in the ways they spoke and treated the other patients.
As the owner of several rescue dogs sometimes it sucks. This is my go to for vet ER services. They know. They are kind, compassionate and understanding. They saved one with stabilization and referrals and let me spend time with another when it was too late. Can not give high enough praise for the people here. Front end to back they make sure pets and people are cared for.
The staff is very knowledgeable, and clearly concerned with providing the best quality of care. They provided my boy with access to all of the specialists that he needed, and seemed to have a variety of high-tech equipment on site. I would highly recommend this place if your animal is in need of emergency care, or needs to see a specialist.
Excellent emergency vet! Everyone was kind and helpful. Rates were extremely reasonable, even for emergency pricing. An overnight stay was less than what we've paid for emergency visits that were only a few hours at other places. Definitely worth it if you have to travel a little farther to go here (if your pet is stable for the travel).
My dog went in to Phoenix Veterinary in critical condition. The staff, the techs, nurses and vet were wonderful. They began working with him immediately. Everything was handled with efficiency and they were extremely courteous. They explained everything, and went over all options. I would use them again if the need arises,
These guys are awesome got my dog in super quick for a scorpion sting got her back checked vitals and treated before I was even done with paperwork they also take care credit. Also the front desk lady is so so kind you can definitely tell she loves her job she is so incredibly kind I couldn't suggest them more!
Dr Bauman and all of the staff that we saw were so kind and absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this team if you have an emergency with your fur baby. The lady at the front desk kindly answered every question I had prior to coming in so that our visit would be smooth. Again, I HIGHLY recommend these guys!
My dog had to see Dr. Phillips for emergency and a follow up visit. Everyone was very professional and caring. Dr. Phillips took time to explain everything in detail and answered all my questions. Front desk receptionists are very prompt and emailed me all the necessary documents within minutes! Thank you!
I'm very grateful for this place. They have taken care of my dog twice and it's great to have a place that will take your dog in an emergency. They took her in right away. It wasn't crowded. It's really not that expensive for the quality of service. I pay the same when my dog is sick at the regular vet.
My dog gave us a scare in the early morning, thank goodness for the PHX Vet. They took care of her right away. She's ok now. Very reassuring, friendly, helpful and respectful. The clinic is amazingly clean and I was expecting to pay 2d what we paid. Thank goodness for their honesty. Thank you PHX Vet
I am currently still waiting for my dog to be seen. I have been waiting 6 hours. They have told me nothing. No communication what so ever. Would never come here again. If I can rate 0 I would. The doctor is amazing. Just how long the waiting period is for no reason and they have awful communication.
The staff is amazing. I just did not like being blindsided of the $160 fee just for my pet to be seen. You are not told how much it is until after your pet is examined. They do not accept pet insurance here so everything is out of pocket coats. The prices are pocket gouging. Just go somewhere else.
Dr. Rizzo, thank you so much for fixing our beloved cat. Dr. Kanarish was right he told us we needed 'soft tissue surgeon' to remove the mass on her neck. He told us go to Doc Rizzo I wouldn't trust anyone else to operate on my pets. He was right Teeny Tiny is fixed thank you so much Dr. Rizzo! :-)
This place charged me an arm and a leg to take x-rays and give me medicine for my dogs upset stomach. The front office girl must have been in training because she didn't have very good customer service. I am grateful my dog wasn't seriously ill and appreciated the quick service.
The doctor and staff were incredible. They gave me so much information about what was going on with my sweet pup and were so incredibly kind throughout the daunting process of putting my beloved pet down. I highly recommend this emergency vet to anyone who needs their services.
Service was great, everyone tried to provide the best service. Unfortunately my baby has cancer, but the team didn’t push any unnecessary exams or services. Thank you. My only ask is for communication around discharge papers and prescriptions to be a little more organized!
We are super grateful that they accept our 1yr old puppy who got parvo after even though he was fully vaccinated. We got turn away from a lot of places. They are doing everything on their hands to save his life, he’s our little baby and we wish to have him back soon
Kind and compassionate. It wasn't busy so we were seen right away. Clear communication every step of the way. Update 11/28/2023: I can not say enough good things about this place. I brought in a very sick stray cat, and they treated her with kindness and respect.
Phoenix veterinary emergency hospital was able to see me at 5:00 a.m. in the morning on a Sunday. I was very grateful. My dog had eaten something and wasn't doing well. They were very kind and and got me in as soon as possible. My dog is doing great now.
My nurse tonight was Victoria and she was amazing. She is so caring and so loving them all the animals there. She went out of her way to explain everything that was necessary, how much it would cost us, and how long it would take. She's the best.
I took one of my dogs for an emergency and could not be more happy. There was no wait. The staff and doctor were incredibly friendly and had great senses of humor. They induced vomiting, we were in and out in less than an hour and paid less
Tremendous group of professionals with great bedside manner to help us with a traumatic loss. They were compassionate throughout the entire transition. I’m so glad we chose this location. Good group of people from start ti finish. Thank you!
Worst experience ever! After 4 hours of waiting with no communication of what is going on. They finally put us in a room where we spent another 30 minutes staring at the walls, then we’re told that they need to do X-rays which was the first
We took our baby cat Momo here because he had a swollen eye. Everyone there was very friendly, and we were seen right away. For emergency services, the price was pretty reasonable. Definitely keeping their magnet on my fridge, just in case!
Brought my cat in as he was very sick. (Vomiting and diarrhea). The veterinarian was kind and compassionate . We were able to figure out a good plan of action to make him feel better. 2 days later, it is as though that morning didn't exist.
Would recommend this hospital to any pet owner. Had to take my dog in for a leg issue and they were one of the few pet hospitals open 24 hours a day. Nice, clean and well maintained hospital. The staff was super nice and great with my dog.
I thought this vet was just OK. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful. The veterinarian herself was not super warm or friendly both times I’ve been here. My dog came in because she got into a fight. They cleaned her wounds
We took our little Meeshie to this amazing hospital Sunday Morning in a near state of coma. From the moment we walked through the doors we were greeted by warmth and welcoming smiles. Our dog was treated immediately and thoroughly. The
We came in and a state of panic my dog had been attacked they made us feel very comfortable quickly calming us down into care of the injuries I think I'm very much for their patience and their kindness and quick attention to my pet
This clinic has compassionate, caring and professional personnel that really care about the well-being of your pet. They were ready for us when we arrived and immediately took our very sick dog (our family member) into their care.
Dog wasn’t feeling well, we came in without an appointment. They explained everything in simple terms what may have caused the issue. They were caring, efficient, and kind, I would recommend them! Megan was the one who assisted us.
I brought my beloved cat SAM to be cremated, he died at home, his ashes arrived in less than a week, in a wooden box placed in a nice velour bag with a nice note. Staff was very friendly everything went fast.
Amazing staff. My pup swallowed a chunk of rawhide that was too big for her throat and they checked her out for free at 2 am. I was worried sick but they were gentle and very loving to my baby.
At hour 4 of waiting to be seen, I was told that the overnight doctor wasn't coming in for 40 minutes and that 2 dogs were ahead of mine to be seen once the doctor came in.
Waited an hour but i was the only person there. I dont think a vet is there at night but on call. Tech was rude when i decided to leave. 4 24 hr in my area
They were very kind. The surgeon spent a large amount of time answering my questions and discussing my thoughts. Thank you again! See you soon!!
Very kind and caring staff. Took our dog there after a coyote attacked her at 3 am. Gave us the options and were very caring. RIP Hannah Banana!
This group of nurses and doctors are amazing!! I help rescue dogs who get dumped at my work, and I brought a sweet pittie here
My puppy got the best care plan and immediate response medicine and came home a happy puppy.
Brought our dog for an emergency visit. They were very communicative and professional!
