I initially went to Picton cycles for a repair on my hybrid bike on the 20/4/20. They said they were unable to complete any services/repairs as covid-19, which was understandable. However I was after a new road bike, and also needed a usable bike asap and they were open for new sales. I had researched Cannondale and they had a 2019 Cannondale synapse tigra aluminium disc bike for sale, ready to go. I decided to take this bike. They got the bike ready, new pedals and checked it over in half an hour, and I picked it up for £850 plus bought some lights and inner tubes total £900. They also supplied a water bottle carrier free of charge. This is where the problems started. After riding away from the shop, I noticed the chain rubbing in the highest gear, I went back immediately, and they made adjustments. This happened 3 times within the first hour. Everytime I left the store they never managed to fix problem, until 3rd attempt. And then they left me with a parting comment " well you will hardly use the highest gear anyway"!? Like that makes it ok!?! After having the bike for a week I had noticed there was a constant loud, irritating rattle from the bike over bumps, having never owned a Cannondale, or road bike before I was unsure? I done some online research, and found an online thread relating to this exact bike with similar issues. I called Cannondale to ask their opinion also, and they advised it shouldn't rattle and to take it back to the bike shop. When I took it back I received a totally different service than the service I received when I was prepared to hand over £900 of my money. They first of all said the internal cabling of the bike meant it will rattle, he said he even had a similar bike that rattles with internal cable's. They did however say they would look at some sort of solution to rectify this issue, inserting foam??, however I would have to return after the lockdown!? I left the shop not 100% happy with this decision. When I had time to think about it, I decided that I was unhappy with the bike as it's "not as described" the bike rattles and it should not rattle according to Cannondale. I called them back to advise them of my decision that I was looking to return the bike and purchase another bike, as I needed a bike that worked as described and I wasn't confident with this bike. They said they would ring me back. They never called back, so I had to call them back the next day. When I called them back again the customer service was terrible. They advised me that they had called Cannondale, "and they had no record of my call, I'm not calling you a liar, but.."!? Well thanks for not calling me a liar, but you really were calling me a liar! After back and forth with Cannondale and Picton phone calls and emails, and more online research myself. I fixed the issue myself! The bike is great and doesn't rattle at all now, it was a loose internal gear cable. The whole experience with Picton cycle's has been unsatisfactory and I personally would never use the shop again. They are happy to take your money but the after service is terrible! I understand it is unprecedented times, however I don't expect to be called a liar, and fobbed off. Even when I advised them I had fixed the problem and tried to help them if anyone else has similar issues they were unhappy to take any advice and customer feedback. I have emails from Cannondale, call records to Cannondale and also videos of the issue and current resolved bike. This has been my experience, make your own mind up. Completely unsatisfactory, stay clear!

I went to Picton Cycles for repairs after parts of my bike were stolen - the stem, handle bars, gears and brakes, the chain was also cut. When I got my bike home from Picton Cycles I realised that all the replacement parts were secondhand - everything was badly scratched and the bolts used were rusty. I was not advised that this would be the case prior to the service, as if I would have known this, I would have taken my bike elsewhere. My bike was only approx. 5 months new and was in perfect condition prior to the theft. I sent an email to Picton Cycles to complain and ask for advice, and to be fair, I was asked to come back in with my bike and they'd take a look. All secondhand parts were replaced with new parts, apart from the shifters which were out of stock. I was told that I could take my bike back and that they'd contact me once new shifters arrived. That was September and I still haven't heard anything from them. I have emailed to chase this up, but as I didn't receive a response I've given up and paid myself for another shop to replace my shifters.

What's not to like; a bike shop on my doorstep with friendly staff, quick turnaround and it's well stocked with good bike brands and accessories. It's also reasonably priced. HOWEVER... i won't take my bike there any more. I regularly have to take my commuter bike back to get issues following maintenance and repairs sorted out. A recent example, the straw that broke the camel's back, was the fitting of a new grip shift changer. A simple enough job I hear you say. Well, i received the bike back, rode it home and the next time i took it out for a proper ride discovered the back wheel hadn't been fitted properly. The cones were loose, which made the bike very dangerous to ride. The grip shift hadn't been fitted properly either, and it interfered with the brake lever. If my car goes to get repaired and it comes back with a wobbly wheel, the garage would be in big trouble. Picton Cycles regularly does slapdash work which isn't adequately QC'd before leaving the shop. Hence why i won't be using them in future.

Bike was not fixed to the standard I would have expected for the price charged, the back wheel was not centered and was rubbing against the rear forks. I would of taken it back but I had already queued up for about 30 mins outside in the rain. 06/08/20 While in work I receive a call on a witheld number from a guy who mentions Picton Cycles but won't tell me his name but knows my name as it's on the review and has my number from my customer details. He disputes the details of my review because there is no photograph and then asks why I didn't bring the bike back ? I explain that when I brought the bike in I told the person in the shop I would need it back by Saturday, he seems unconvinced with my version of events and is not happy with the feedback I have left. Now if you own a car and take it in for a service you don't expect it to come out running worse than when it went in !

I have always maintained my own bikes (Moulton AM 14 and Brompton 6 speed) because I did not think anyone else would treat them with the correct amount of love. After a very messy winter and because I was very busy at work, I left the Brompton in to Picton for 'servicing. They did a fantastic job with new chain and a great clean for about £80. Encouraged by this, I asked them to do the same for my AM14. It was not cheap (a little over £100) but after a new chain, new rear block, some cables and the best clean up I have seen (Moultons have more nooks and crannies than any other bike), my bike is running so nicely I had to phone them and thank them. So if you are time poor and are willing to spend some money for someone to treat your bike as you would yourself, and if you enjoy the delightful noise of a happy transmission on a shiny cycle, I recommend Picton.

One of the best bike mechanics in the city. Easily one of the most competitive price wise, too. Good example of this is a recent service. Needed a new headset and bottom bracket, as the headset had a bit of play and the BB was creaking. Ste collected my bike in his van from my home in north Liverpool. All sorted within a few days and for just under £100. Trust me, finding a good spanner is like finding a good car mechanic. You keep hold of them and always go back. This is the second time that I have used Picton Cycles after a recommendation from my good mate, Charlie. Needless to say that they'll now be my permanent go-to cycle shop for any mechanicals. Have tried others elsewhere in Merseyside, but they'll all have all fallen short. Picton are by far the best - and then some. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. Great bunch.

I placed my hybrid mountain cycle with Picton Cycles earlier this month. Now, I have rode this bike for a number of year daily and other than a replacement back axle I have had no professional repairs, so I knew it was in need of a fair bit of TLC. When I took my cycle in I was advised it could be a week or more before it could be looked. To my my surprise it was worked on and repaired with 4 days, just in time for my return to work. I had a lot of repairs completed on the bike and some things that could have been changed were not, and I was advised if they failed I would only pay for the part. Ian, thank you so much for your technical skills on working on my bike and completing the work so quickly. The difference in my ride is fantastic!!!

Rode bike last couple days not felt right . Back wheel bit wobbly . Took it today to be checked , after finishing 50mile ride and asked could they take a look. They did and asked when I needed it for , I explained 09.30am next day . It was 16.15pm :( so I was expecting a lot . They sorted within the hour now my weekend not spoilt I can be out cycling even the bank holiday Monday . They Never take the Mick , always honest reliable and most rapid service . Could not ask for a more professional service for someone in dire straits. Had keep eyes closed to not buy a new one lol ! I have recently got into cycling and was unsure were to go, a friend recommended this shop, and the guys at Picton are just wonderful. They offer good advice to someone who hasnt a clue about bikes , they were so patient with me helping me, they really have gone above and beyond. they told me were the best place's were to go cycling. the staff in the shop put no pressure on me to get me to purchased a bike. An excellent bike shop with superb bike mechanics and workshop advice with first class service. Was in need of a rear light for my mtb. Gave the guys at Picton a call to see if they could help as i needed something compact but bright. They where super helpful and gave me a list of the options they had in stock within my budget. I ended up going with the ‘Moon Ring Rear Light’ as it was perfect for my needs. Within the hour i had this light in my hands and and was using it that evening! This is my Local bike shop and there turnaround is fast and the work they all do is top notch! Even with the pandemic and all the stress that goes with it, these guys work hard to go above and beyond to help you out.

Great service, fair price and quick turn around. Sorted my MTB gears and replaced snapped spokes and straightened my road bike wheel. They called me up to say my bikes were ready and had my gears changing smoothly but they highest gears were still slipping. Once I’d shown their mechanic the slipping, he diagnosed it on the spot and had it sorted that afternoon. Definitely recommended. Update: I took my MTB to LLandegla just a few days after it was repaired. The bike performed brilliantly. I couldn't be happier, its like having a new bike again.

They try to change me £70 for a fox shock service you can do it your self for £16 and they tell me you can't buy fox flot fluid.they must think people are stupid. 10 minutes job o I yeah. £16 way two go.SO ITS NOT £70 FOR A REAR SHOCK SERVICES THEN. HOW MUCH IS IT THEN ?. I CAN DO IT FOR £16 YOU SAYING THAT £54 labour so is that right then.??? SO I CAN DO IT MY SELF FOR £20 AND NOT £ 70 THEN .?? U no i can end of. Rip off £50 labour for a 10 minutes job just for the rear shock.if you ride mtb you no it is.?

I went to buy cassette spacers because i needed them urgently to fix my bike so i can be in time to work , they were so kind they even gave them to me for free which is something unusual because im not their regular client , which means that they are looking after to help people and not to rip them out when fixing their bikes and that is very important because we cannot know how much every part cost and how much bike shops charge us , you can trust those guys there.

Fantastic free assistance, even with a bike I didn't buy from them. Bought a Cannondale from Evans 5 years ago which has since shut down. The frame was cracked, they sent it back to Cannondale for me and dealt with multiple emails and offers from Cannondale for me. Even though Cannondale wouldn't give me a replacement frame, Picton cycles were great and didn't charge me anything for all their time and effort trying to sort it out.

Went in and asked a question about my bike, you know get the "expert" advise. I must have been speaking Spanish. The answer i got was rubbish, i got an awkward blank look as if i was to take what he said as "advise". nothing about my visit was pleasant and I'm no better off. The customer service from the guy behind the till was very poor. Wont be going here again as they clearly don't have a clue.

I bought a bike from Picton Cycles six years ago and even after all this time, they still treat their customers fantastically. I can honestly say that they are the best shop I have ever dealt with and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a new bike or parts and service for a current bike. Dropping by the shop is also a great excuse to look at the beautiful Bianchi bikes there.

What a great bike shop, selling a full range of new bikes for casual cycling and the more serious enthusiasts, as well as a great repairs service. Really helpful staff, and good value too, they never try to sell you something more expensive than what you have asked for or need. I've been a customer for 20 years and wouldn't go anywhere else in Liverpool. Five stars well deserved.

I use Picton for all my servicing needs on my 3 bikes and am extremely happy, both with the level of service and the price. All the staff seem knowledgeable and have answered any questions or concerns I have had. I’m a relative newcomer to cycle maintenance.

Excellent service and great turnaround. I needed a new chain and this was replaced in a few hours and ready later the same day. I was also given some great advice from the mechanic. They also adjusted my gears and the price was very reasonable. A valued and recommended local store and great to have an alternative to the big chain stores (excuse the pun)

Working in Liverpool for two weeks and having sometime for riding.During a ride I had a problem with my gears and noticed Picton Cycles,popped in and the problem was sorted asap..new cable needed fitting. Great mechanic,the staff were really helpful. One guy even showed me cycle routes which I’ve used.very reasonably priced. Highly recommend this shop!

I highly recommend this bike shop. I went to Quinn cycles and halfords and they both couldn't find missing nuts and bolts for my kids bike. I brought it to picton cycles and they found these for me very quickly and without any charge which is so good of them. Local, honest, efficient business that I will definitely be using again in the future.

Amazing service from the team at Picton Cycles. I needed some new tools to fit a new power meter. There were none in stock, but instead they fitted it for me in a matter of minutes! Great little shop, I came in here last year before Christmas looking for a bike for my little nephew. I spoke to a tall chap called Cal who sat him on a few bikes and adjusted his seat handlebars etc. he rode it away with the biggest smile on his face, Cal even thru in a helmet for half the price. Nice one guys ill be back again next year!!

If you're looking to throw your money down the drain whilst being spoken to like you're a complete idiot you could do a lot worse than take your bike to Picton Cycles for a service. After a bill of £63 and loads of hassle my gears are slipping. I'm cutting my losses and taking the bike to someone who knows what they're doing. Never again...

28th December had 2 emergency rear wheel jobs (Broken spokes, truing and bearings) and asked if one wheel could be looked at before the weekend, bearing in mind the festive period I wasn't hopeful. Well, I received a call within 2 hours, all jobs done. £32. Incredible service and value. Sincere thanks to Ian at Picton Cycles.

Picton Cycles have serviced several bikes and parts over the years, always with a fantastic level of service. As a former mechanic myself, I can be very picky with the jobs I don't want to buy the tools for myself, but everything from bartape to gear services and disc brake bleeds was always done to a top quality standard.

Dropped in at closing time when my little girl’s scooter tyres were down. Staff were incredibly generous to take time away from closing down the shop to inflate her tyres (which were very awkward because of their size). Have also had bike services here in the past and the staff have always been very professional.

Not quite sure what that guy is on about, but i've been going to Picton Cycles for years and they are hands down the best around and the cheapest. I get my bike serviced every 12 months and my bike leaves the shop faultless. If you want good guys doing a great job within 24hours go to Picton Cycles.

Always had problems after taking my bike here, staff never listen to you when you explain what's wrong and what needs fixing. Just had a full service and a spoke has broken after works had been done to the wheel. Gears keep skipping also which was the main reason the bike needed a service.

Cyclocross bike had a knackered headset feeling rough and not turning freely. Took it apart and discovered it was a right mess (see photo). Had no idea what was needed to get it sorted so took it in to Picton. Headset replaced and now smooth as butter. Well pleased.

A brilliant local bike shop, their services are excellent and the prices extremely reasonable. They also have a nice selection of bikes on the shop floor and a decent spread of accessories. Customer service is always friendly and down-to-earth. A pleasure to visit.

I went to Picton Cycles for a repair on my Cannondale Supersix and dealt with Ste and Ian. I wanted my bike back as quick as possible and they turned it around in less than 24hours as requested. Great friendly lads and a professional service - Can’t fault them!

These guys have just serviced both my road and hybrid bikes, managed to free up my old seized gears so that I didn't need to replace them. All really good value for money and were done within a few days. Great service and would highly recommend.

A great local bike shop. I've bought three bikes from them over the years and use them for regular servicing and repairs. The staff are always helpful and knowledgable, and they discuss any work that might need doing before carrying it out.

Purchased a Brompton folding cycle on Thursday afternoon phoned up to see if they had what I wanted in stock went to shop after work an bought the Brompton .staff we're friendly and very helpful highly recommend Picton cycles 5 star service

Drove a lomg way to this shop but found a sign saying it w as closed for lunch at 13.45. Waited for 45 minutes and other people arrived expecting it to be open, but it stayed closed. Complete waste of time. Wont be making the trip again.

Have had previous work done with them, which went well. this is a few years ago. I just called up and the guy hung up mid conversation. Will never use them again. Shame because they are missing out on thousands of pounds of future work

Took my daughters brand new bike in to get the brakes adjusted. They didn’t fix the issue and charged £18. Claimed the (brand new) wheel was buckled!?! I took it to another bike shop and the problem was fixed in 10 seconds. Jokers

I've been using Picton Cycles for years and I'd recommend them to anybody. No job is too small or too problematic, and they really take an interest in making sure that what you need is right for you. A fantastic local bike shop.

Needed a replacement shifter quickly as mine had just broke and I was on a multi day bike tour. Amazingly they had the part in and fitted it that day. Helped me out when I really needed it. Great service and really great price.

These guys are not just here to sell bikes, they are here to look after bikes and their customers. They have always shown my bikes love, even when I haven't. I have enjoyed a few decades of great service from them, certainly.

Excellent local bike shop, road bike running like a dream after a full service, even managed to diagnose and sort an annoying creak that had been bugging me for a while when our riding. Wouldn’t take my bikes anywhere else.

Great service and my bike has been brilliant since it was fixed by Picton Cycles. The staff were very knowledgable and managed to repair a bike that had been ruined by a well known bike shop.

Beware, this shop is a rip off. Needed an emergency repair, a nut for my crank and they charged me £4 for a rusty second hand bolt, which I fitted myself. Opportunist and money grabbing.

Excellent turnarounds and quality service by mechanics who want to get you back out on the trails or roads. Great knowledge of local routes as well. Fixed up my YT Capra in a jiffy!

Just got my bike back after having a full service, new tyres, new gears and a few other bits. Charged me minimal and the bike rides better than new. Highly recommended …
