This place was recommended by the Lonely Planet guide and we decided to try it out. It certainly delivered on delicious burgers, including the vegetarian one which was impressive (you can tell it is made with love if you know what I mean). Plenty of craft beers to choose from (I tried a stout they used whey from their other business, the cheese factory. Very nice in my opinion) and local Gin. Then you have the nice outdoor area with plenty of benches and bus, yes bus, to sit in. Friendly staff and good music playing in the background. It personally ticks all the boxes to have a great couple of hours eating, drinking and enjoying life.

  • Mark Northcott

Wow. Came here because I saw online that they had a great selection of beer but I was blown away by the layout of the place. Set in what must have been a house at one time, the room become different themed places to drink and eat with a lounge room or a dining room. The bar is in another room. The outside area is divided into smoking and non smoking (good) and has a bus you can sit in and large fireplaces for the cold times. Staff are great and I had a nice chat about craft beers. Quiet during the day I was told it can get very busy with a line for beers going out the front door. All I can say is that it would probably be worth it.

Amazing atmosphere. Great beer. The bus is awesome and the staff are 90% great. One person can ruin everything. Getting up and in the face of a woman and being threatening and aggressive is never acceptable. And when you as their husband defend that woman. To then be told to leave immediately - is intimidatory and not what is to be expected in Hobart, one of my favourite cities. This has never happened before. I don’t know how he was feeling or if he was drinking while working. But I will not go back. He also drove into the venue bringing ice. But had open cans inside his vehicle.

Staff were awesome. Gave us some friendly stick for being from qld about its not cold & then put the heater on for us. Very accommodating with food restrictions, loaded fries & the bryte burger so yummy & filling. Old school looking pub bit with local modern artist on walls. Cute beer garden-was to cold for us northerners. Would definately recommend & come again

What a glorious nook! Just a few blocks from the bustling Salamanca markets, this bar features an ever-changing and broad taplist with a good mix of local and other beers. Wine list is thoughtful and ready to please everyone. The menu is perfect bar food. The real hero here, though, is the three separate spaces: little tables indoors, heaps of outdoor seating and the star of the show- the old bus in the back of the garden! As a professional preacher, this setup gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up.

Burgers were really nice, having a good balance of fresh, with the lettuce and tomato in The Preacher burger. The Lemon Lime and Bitters we ordered came pre-mixed, which was a surprise, but a welcome one, as many other places do not mix the LLB before serving. The heaters that were there were nice and warm, providing plenty of warmth and were easy to turn on. Overall, really good place for a pub feed!

We hadn't been to Preachers since it was our local pub about 5 or 6 years ago. The food has really improved, and I absolutely loved my Halloumi burger! Yuuuuum. The staff member seemed really grumpy, I understand people aren't always smiley and pubs these days are staff with the cool/hip kids, but we actually felt uncomfortable

Great selection of craft beers and ciders on tap displayed on a huge blackboard above the bar. Barman was very knowledgable, offering suggestions and recommendations according to your taste. They also serve mulled wine! The interior is homely and cosy, the outside had plenty of varied seating areas including an old bus. There were woodburning stoves and patio heaters ehich made it a pleasant temperature to be able to sit out in despite being April in Tassie.

Very lovely spot to chill and I had a fantastic burger. Ordered the Nashville burger. Hot, spicy, crunchy, and delicious. Amazing how such a good burger come out of the kitchen so fast. Also had some of the halloumi cheese and chicken bites. I and the other people i was with did feel the chicken bites seem to be too salty though. Otherwise, those would have perfect. Anyway, definitely would love to go again. So go give em a shot. I recommend it.

Some of the best burgers in Tasmania paired with one of the best beer selection ranges out. A nicely spaced beer garden area in a quiet area of Hobart. What to try: The Nashville Fried Chicken burger – packs a small kick if you love spice

Great beer, great food, great service, great vibe. The range of beers available is excellent - plenty of IPAs but could do with a few more stouts. The burgers and chips are great. If you love broccoli (who doesn’t?) you must try the tempura broccoli with wasabi mayo - it is divine!! This place is kid friendly during the day (they can have a blast playing in the bus). Card payment accepted.

Trendy pub with a nice beer garden and some good food options. There are a few choices for vegetarians which is nice. We had a tempura broccoli side that was delicious. Great place to come with friends or a group.

Great pub food with fun, lively vibe, especially the patio which has string lights, heaters and a cool refurbished bus with seating. We tried some vegetarian options - the vegetarian peking duck burger and broccoli tempura which was super tasty! The beer was great too! Service was just ok but it's an order at the counter kinda place so that's fine.

Love Preachers, great everything; however the over zealous door man looking to cause trouble rather than welcome customers was disappointing. What ever his title, his shirt collar was too tight as it had obviously blocked the blood flow to his brain. This was made evident as ridiculous, provactative comments dribbled forth with gay abandonment.

  • Jesse Mavin

Im from Newcastle, here for a couple of days. The bartender (didn’t get his name) was happy to have a chat to me about what to do/what to see whilst I’m here, rather than a lot of other bartenders at other places who wouldn’t care to have a bit of a yarn. Beer garden is nice too, top joint

Good place to get a burger & beer. Solid burgers but nothing amazing or special about them. The chips were a little under cooked making them a bit too floury. It's a unique pub since it's in an old townhouse with a fitted out bus.

What a spread in front of an open fire. Came across this gem whilst strolling through the back streets of the city and it didn't disappoint! Great food, great wine and even better service. The younger man gave us advice on where to go for the remainder of our stay. Couldn't ask for more.

A very nice and cozy place to grab a drink with friends. The outdoor area is breezy and bright and the idoor place is more dim with a warm fireplace. The food is just okay, but I'd understand why it would be so popular among locals for drinks. Prices are affordable too.

  • Eden Steward

Dry old cold chips and small burgers with a bit of lump cheese thrown on top. No love or passion for food whatsoever. The most expensive meal we had while in Hobart and the most disappointing to boot. Bit of a shame. 22 bucks for a tiny loveless burger is a lot. More

This place is so cool! We went on a rainy weekday so there were plenty of seats- we got to sit on the bus all by ourselves. The food was all incredible, and the service was friendly. I'd recommend the buffalo wings and burgers especially, they were the best.

  • berenice oliver

Good beer selection and a nice hippy place to hang out in on weekends. Cheeseburger patty was a bit overcooked, but the Preacher Burger was spot in. Juicy and goes well with sweet potato chips! And of course, best complemented with a pint of craft beer

  • Pam Wright

This place was so cosy, the staff very friendly and happy to answer questions, recommend drinks, and even chat a little. Great tap and bottle list. Average cocktails, but that’s not why you should come here. We didn’t try the food but it smelled great!

  • Scud 01

Loaded fries were excellent and I was helped when I asked for one of the outdoor heaters to be turned on, even though it was out of gas and they got a sudden influx of people. Thank you!

Quirky bar, with different tipples to your average tavern. We sipped on the sours that were on tap, while enjoying the nostalgia of being at the back of the bus again. Staff really friendly, a short walk up the hill from Salamanca shops.

Very good burgers and very good chips. Definitely up there in top 10 burgers we've had (and we've had a lot). Local beer and cider were very good too. Good vibe, friendly staff. We had the $25 classic burger and local beer lunch deal

This place would definitely get 5 stars if it wasn’t for the douche of a bartender working there. Strange & arrogant comments galore which other people found odd also. Nice beers, great food & good vibes otherwise. Thanks ! More

  • Benjamin Neldner

Great atmosphere and good range of beers. We got the Monday special which is 25 for a veggie burger and the house Cider or house lager. Burgers were amazing, would highly recommend the duck burger - a really good smokey taste.

Great little beer garden down a laneway in battery point. We stumbled across this place on an afternoon walk. Great to sit in the sun with one of their many craft beers. Loaded fries were awesome. Good tunes and atmosphere

  • Glen Pearce

Funky bar with a good variety of Tasmanian beers and ciders. You can choose to dine inside, outside in the beer garden or in the decommissioned bus, as we did. We particularly enjoyed the buffalo wings and Frank's Cider.
