This library is located in a very upscale neighborhood 1/2 mile west of the eponymous intersection, close to the Dallas North Tollway. Trees line the small front parking lot and entrance. In fact, trees surround the entire library property, front, back and sides. There's lots more parking in the back lot shared with the church next door but curiously no back or side entrances. There are four small benches just outside the front entrance to relax, enjoy your book, the shade and the library's WiFi. Inside book return is just to the right as you enter. It's a little hard to see but obvious once you've found it. Nice greeting upon arrival with an actual (dare I say sincere?) smile. Unusual computer setup with 10 PCs squeezed into a circular bartop-type area. Two more computers in nice boxy private cubicles next to the bar. Slightly smaller than usual children's section, slightly larger than usual adult fiction section. I was *very* happy with the selection because I was quickly able to find two books I wanted to read. Books written by less popular authors, no less. Small, cramped men's bathroom with one stall and one urinal. A little worn but clean with full supplies. Added bonus - Barnes and Noble is just down the street at the NW corner of Preston/Royal. All in all for me this was one of the better library experiences in the DPL system.
This is the best, most comfortable library❤❤❤! The librarians are all friendly, helpful, and resourceful. The best part about this library is they have a kid section with a Thomas train table, a kid kitchen and lots of kid books. Also, kids are allowed to be kids and they don't have to be silent. One of the main Librarians said it best when he said that the library is for everyone kids and adults. The only issue with this library is it is really difficult to get children to leave, they have so many activities and fun things to do that children never want to leave.❤❤❤
They disappoint too often. On my most recent pick up more than half of the.muskc I had requested and held were still locked. COVID19 has been hard on everyone, but it seems like Preston Royal Library has just given up. The City of Dallas as a whole is a mess and I miss the staff that used to be at Bookmarks. They ALWAYS had a smile and a kind word. Just seems so different.
This library is not where you can study in a quiet environment. This library is a kindergarten!!! Always so many kids are there and front desk speaking very loudly no consideration at all!! Very very noisy if you want to focus and study do ur self a favor don’t go there.
These people are the most paranoid over COVID (I refrain from using the word “lazy”.) They shut down earlier and (briefly) reopened later than everyone else. With the uptick in COVID, they shut down again, without public or email notices,
Library is nice & clean, the staff is very friendly and there is ample space to study. My only complaint is that the cubicles are a little too tiny to fit with both your laptop and a book to write notes
The kids section in this library is amazing! Make sure to plan time to play with the blocks, play kitchen, puzzles, and other toys when you bring your kids. Great picture book selection as well.
This is a very nice library, you can tell the building is a bit on the older side, so the AC units are pretty loud, but the children's area is great and they always have good programs going on.
Friendly staff and great hours, not to mention ideal location. This library never seems to be overcrowded, and has a great space for children.
Wonderful branch of DPL. Staff are always helpful. It would be great if the periodical/magazine section was a little bit larger.
Was able to get a library card very quickly and the librarian offered one to my son as well.
Love it here! Wonderful staff, great community programming and a lovely kids play area.
Cool branch with an interesting entry way. Lots of parking in the back.
Sweet peeps! Small and cozy neighborhood library. Classic
