To primary MD reponse: Negative zero rating: Family member was never given the proper screening for colon cancer- no FIT, no colonoscopy, no referral to specialist. Only an expensive blood allergy test , prescribed sleeping pills, and told to buy some sketchy herbs from her clinic- that’s a medical violation btw…. Later after all this nonsense, patient told me the ‘doc’ had never examined her without clothing. The nurse was doing all the communication and work, and because of this, she finally quit working there. Patient rarely could get an appt. With the “Doc’, so patient would phone the nurse, then nurse would get the prescription from the doctor. “Doc” rarely if ever directly talked to or saw the patient. Lab test showed very high white blood cell count—that means infection!!! (Not an allergy to cucumbers or meat, etc). So ‘Doc” sold her a blood allergy test, gave sleeping pills and told to stop eating cucumbers, meat and bread. patient lost 10 lbs in 1 month believing in the doc’s advice. This is not good for a slim 73 year old to lose this weight so fast. “Dr” told me after that because she was 73 years old, she doesn’t meet the age limit cutoff, and was too old to take the Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT)!! I have a record of this in her emails. The last colonoscopy she had was >5 years ago where polyps were found and removed. After a few weeks the pain in her lower abdomen increased. ”Doc” tells her to do pelvic floor exercises, for a fee of course, and sells her more herbs. She is losing more weight on this restricted “allergy” diet, is extremel tired, so drove herself to the rocky view ER where they gave and found a positive FIT, and thus performed a colonoscopy finding stage 3 colon cancer spread into her some of her lymph nodes. The surgeon said if she had waited any longer it would have quickly moved to stage 4 and chemo would not help. She started chemo then 2 weeks later returned to hospital with a twisted bowel, a side effect of the chemo. No word or communication with her Doc. The Doc then tells her nurse to tell her to start taking cumin and eat Indian food. I am serious, this is true! Patient trusts in doctors so follows their advice. I told her to get the H out of there, but she liked the nurse and was afraid to leave and start over with a new doctor. “Doc “ never sees her in hospital or calls her through any of this.Too busy with her spa clinic, I guess.. It took for the nurse to leave the clinic for her to finally get out of there to go to real medical doctor. Look up possible legal issues in S. Alberta….. I’m sure the spa and botox are fab though!!!! And an awesome quilter. I would give this “doctor” a negative 10 if I could. Steer clear. Her priorities are spa treatments, not medical care. Mother was put on a phony allergy diet, prescribed turmeric and other herbs that she sells at her clinic, instead of timely colon cancer screening, and proper basic medical care. The missed diagnosis went to stage 3, needing chemo etc. Was Charged extra for unnecessary phony nutrition testing. Was prescribed herbs from her clinic which was a conflict and dangerous combined with real medication. (I had this confirmed by a real doctor). “Dr.” was rarely available to be seen and prescribed medication over the phone instead of actually seeing mother in person. This was before CoVid. Her nurse was the only good thing there, doing most of her medical work, and she has now left. Mother was paying $10,000/year., which did not include the herbs. (The money is used from older patients to fund clinic I guess??) Couldn’t convince mother to leave because she liked the nurse! This needs to be told.
Terrible service. I got a treatment done 4 months ago (wich I pay myself) that didn't work. Went back to add more of the medication and they called me 2 hours before my appointment to cancel it. I travel from Edmonton for this treatment and they didn't even care that I spent in hotel and everything. They don't return calls or emails unless you call them million of times. Won't recommend this place. Very unprofessional. Patients are not important to this place or Dr. Dundas. Not happy at all. I will not remove my review. Im not the only 1 start review Dr Dundas has. The practice has very low patient care. I understand family emergencies I also have a family. The lack of care and communication with me. I called, email several times every time before i even got a response. Not happy at all. Im glad this practice is not my the one I go for my general health. I asked many times if I was able to communicate with Dr Dundas and she was never available, so please don't make it look like she talked to me (she never did)
I found in the public health care system doctors would dismiss my symptoms and it seemed like they were doing the bare minimum. For years I had doctors telling me it was just anxiety etc. but with Dr. Dundas' vast knowledge she was able to identify several conditions that I was then tested for and nevertheless it turns out what I was told was an anxiety issue was actually an auto immune circulatory disorder which she was able to provide me with extensive resources for treatment. She was very welcoming and not dismissive to my concerns as other doctors have been. I agree basic health care should be free but in this system the public health care doctors don't really have the ability to give each patient their full attention and constantly research new conditions and Dr. Dundas provides above and beyond health care and I couldn't put a price on that.
Horrible. Dr. Kathryn Dundas told my mother when I was severely depressed at nine that "it was just puberty" because kids don't get depressed. Dr. Dundas's irresponsible and scientifically unfounded approach cost me early mental health intervention which would have prevented years of misery and permanent health issues from untreated mental health issues. Dr. Dundas should be ashamed of herself. Utterly inexcusable.
