The worst RAF air show I have EVER been to! it cost £10 to get in. We had to walk miles to get in through the back entrance. There was no where to sit except in front of the stage where a band were playing loud music through a cheap sound system. The queues to get food were each about 50 people deep. The stalls were selling tat. There was nothing worth seeing, just a few hobbyists with their cars, old little planes and a couple of motorbikes. A fairground was there with rides and cheap and nasty food. A couple of old hobbyists jeeps and wartime vehicles and a car that was going to attempt a world record. Almost nothing was related to the RAF, a very disappointing day. There was a chinook that couldn't decide if he was going to take off or not. A complete waste of time, effort and money.
Maggie Jones - perhaps you went with the wrong expectations. This was never meant to be an "airshow" or even an air-day. It was an Open Day to celebrate 100 years of RAF Northolt as an active airfield. Did you not see the B17 "Sally B" or the Spitfire ML407? Both well known in aviation circles and well worth the price of the entry ticket alone I would have thought. If you want to see an airshow I can recommend Old Warden, home of the Shuttleworth Trust, and Duxford - particularly the Flying Legends weekend. Check out their websites for more information and dates - both have several flying displays a year. You won't get in for £10 though - you get what you pay for in the world of historic aviation!
Disappointing - Google and website shows vintage aircraft at RAF, but nothing can see. One spitfire behind fence and no public access. One army guy was friendly and said was civilian airfield....why army there?? Other guy at gate was very unfriendly, shooed me away like I was a foreign intruder. They need to update and say it's Northolt airport, nothing to do with RAF other than fencing and a few guards.
What a great airport! Check in was smooth, what an abundance of passengers! Plane was in shabby state and we had to walk to the aircraft. Only problem is that I boarded the wrong plane and ended up in Syria. Needs improvement in signs and perhaps they should issue boarding passes.
I was born here. My birth certificate states it. I know little. I hope to visit some day. Live in America but do not have connection with family there. So glad to see this. Thanks
I lived next to the base as a kid in the 70s & 80s go back from time to time to watch the planes and helicopters went today and got to see a puma land always worth a visit …
RAF Northolt is a nice site with historical airplanes so I would understand if anything has deteriorated. A nice place to come when you do have free time
RAF NAVY NORTHOLT Base from NATO and UK Navy is very Professional and very good Place for Education`s Military Person.
Mostly civilian and private use the airfield. Worthwhile if you have an invitation to seethe Polish airmens exhibit.
Nice place for a day out. Lots of beautiful pubs and bar to take break in English style.
Jestem polakiem. Tutaj stacjonował dywizjon 303, dlatego te miejsce jest dla mnie ważne.
Fantastic place to visit i would recommend to anyone who is wanting a nice day out
Small airfield with some very interesting transport aircraft are stationed here.
