There are so many positives to shopping here. The Pick n Pay never gets packed or extremely busy. The restaurants are all good. The Woolworths is a bit small but not bad if you just need a few things. They don't cater well for vegetarians but I guess that is due to lack of demand. The centre is very good about following Covid-19 regulations. There is always parking and I can always park my car in the shaded parking on hot days. The car guards are very relaxed and don't make you feel terrible if you are unable to tip them. They don't usually ask for tips but are very friendly and happy when they get a tip. The toilets are clean and have decent ventilation. The centre is beautifully designed with modern, minimalist touches and beautiful plants growing everywhere. They made an effort to appeal to hipsters and trendy people. I don't love the metal spikes at the entrance and I'm not sure if they are helpful. I think the centre would be more popular if we didn't have to drive over those spikes every time. Do they reduce car theft? I am curious about this.

I drove past the area that. The center is now situated at for several years. It was a great pleasure to see that it had been upgraded to a fancy urban shopping center. Upon visiting it, I discovered that it is easy to turn off into the center parking is free and parking is easily available. The parking and generally safe and security guards are present to monitor their variety of shops, which are both colorful and authentic. And they just cheer up and brighten one's day. Their restaurants have several flavors, which provide interest for every type of person. The environment is beautiful, with clean, neat recently renovated paving, and a little water fountain that runs through the area. All parts of the architecture and modern and fun. And one feels like one is in a different country by being in one of the restaurants. There is a truly global cosmopolitan feel to it.

An excellent local shopping centre with an impressive list of tenants. Highlights include a Pick n Pay, Pick n Pay Liquor, West Pack Lifestyle, Clicks, PostNet and Woolworths. The latter is on the small side but it is always well stocked and in my experience carries a wider variety of products than Woolworths Greenside. Queues at the Pick n Pay Liquor can be long and tedious, especially on weekends. Having more tellers would help. Parking is plentiful and there is also a decent carwash on the premises, which adds to the centre's overall convenience. If you live in the area, Rand Steam is certainly worth a visit.

Would you think of shopping at this centre? Had an incident of an item stolen of my car. Requested footage from centre. Lack of response from initially the manager and then actual owners of the centre Moolman Group complaining about manager shows the lack of commitment to the people that give them their bread and butter. 2 months later the marketing director Cornel Papenfus still investigating and doesn't even bother getting back with an update. DON'T BOTHER SHOPPING HERE IF THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS

  • Ansaaf Sarlie

My absolute favorite shopping center. Park your car at the car wash and do a quick grocery run to Pick n Pay or Woolies, grab your essentials at clicks, or go for a quick mani or pedi at Sorbet. Go have a chat with the friendliest guy, Byron, at Manzi and try their flavored water. It's amazing! Also, I love that there's a Westpack close to me now and I absolutely love the new Cilantro Cafe for all your Indian cooking needs. Always enough parking at the center and car park staff are always friendly.

The Centre is nice, Do daily shopping here. A little annoyed with the FixTech store in the centre. Dropped off my ladys phone for screen replacement & when we got the phone back .It had multiple issues to the point that we had to disconnect any accounts from the phone as it looked to be tampered with & overall lost a working phone due to the store. Also they only take cash & there's no way of holding the store accountable for poor services. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

A little centre based around its two major tenants, but that makes life much easier for those that live in the area. It is also at the intersection of two major routes East-West and North-South through the city, which much also draw many workers en route home. I love their curry shop, but I doubt I will ever pop into the art gallery... ??? I also love that they have preserved some of Joburg's history, such as the original steam room and the oldest pepper corn tree in the city.

  • Tatenda Chidora

Modern designed shopping mall. It’s really really beautiful, spacious and has a wide variety of contemporary stores. The mall houses Woolworths Food and Pick and Pay store. There are a lot of boutique stores that sell furniture, artwork and many more house accessories. The mall houses Bootleggers, Cowfish and Col’cachino the restaurants. There is enough parking and a secure entrance and exit system.

  • Andrew Tyler

very visually attractive shopping centre. got lunch from the PnP. Unfortunately the till was not disinfected and the cling wrap around the credit card machine had not been changed recently. patrons were walking around with with masks half on. Nobody really monitoring this in store. even staff had their noses sticking out of their masks. very poor regard for the pandemic blowing up in gauteng

  • Miss Jack

This is my go to, although not the nearest shopping centre near me. It's small but has all that I need for weekly essentials. Good service & friendly faces at most of their stores. They have a coffee cafe & a bomb burger joint right as you drive in at the entrance by the Seniors home and all other cool restaurants to try our PLUS there's a Sorbet salon that I'm yet to try out.

  • Liz Finnie

Liked this sympathetic development very much. It's architecture harks back to the original protected buildings that were torn down by a developer that thought it could get away with it. I knew the original buildings where artisans practised their crafts with excellence. Now it is a small centre which serves the community in the form of restaurants, supermarkets and shops.

  • ERROL BAIRD

That PNP is so badly managed! There must have been 50 ppl with full trollies in the queues, but they had THREE tills open! I've complained previously to managers about there queing system. As the response was today from a manager, they just couldn't be bothered. I cannot understand why they can't have one queue open to all the tills as Woolworths and Spar do.

  • Yaasirah Choonara

I love how easily accessible it is. Easy to find parking, safe, and no having to run around for cash because of a parking ticket. I always stop here on my way home from work to get whatever I need. Grocery stuff, kids stuff for school from crazy store and now with the pick and pay clothing. I can even get stuff for kids without having to run to a mall nidweek

  • Jabulani Dlamini

The cleanest and the most intimate shopping centers in the North of Johannesburg. Boosting the best shopping experience with Woolies, Pick n Pay, Mozambik restaurant and many more other stores for variety and total bliss to enhance shopping experience. It is within reach from main freeways and byways. The epitome of shopping starts at Randsteam Centre

  • Samantha L. Jack

Has good anchor stores like woolworths, pick n pay and clicks. Has a liquor store. A few niche hipster stores on furniture, home decor and clothing. An optometrist and pet store also has a home here. Best for practical shops and for the restaurant quarter. Fantastic places to eat. Also the restaurants and cafes have a good vibe.

  • Mary Fezeka

One of the malls that doesn't give back to the community it is friendly and approachable to shop at but they need to give back to the community and make this mall an exciting mall like having competitions, charity work and do surveys about the mall how we feel about it for me it is boring compare to the malls that give back

  • Londeka Dlamuka

If you are going to Rand Steam please be careful with your belongings, it has unfortunately become a hotspot for snatchers and security isn’t armed for this. Our phone was snatched by the woolworths door and there was a number of securities on guard who weren’t able to assist. Rand steam should tighten the security.

  • Ilhaam S

This quaint little area is unique if you sentimental and obsessed with original style... It has some interesting history engraved in the walls and linked this with modern upbeat style... It has some lovely interesting shops and curries even tho it's still new I see potential for it to become. A hotspot …

  • Kopano Kholopane

Really convenient for quick shopping. There’s a pick n pay, clicks, crazy store, sorbet, an art gallery, a restaurant, Woolworths food etc so I go here if I’m only looking for a few items. Good location as well, not too far from laborie village, Delheim village, UJ bunting road campus, Milpark hospital

  • Susi Koch

Classy little new suburban shopping center with 4 great restaurants serving something for everyone! All have outdoor seating. Woollies, Clicks, Pick n Pay and Sorbet plus a variety of stunning home decor boutique shops with unique upmarket items. ABSA, FNB and Standard Bank ATMs. Lots of easy parking.

  • David Crouch

Great new shopping centre with a good varied choice of tenants. The design and architecture is super with an interesting history - rebuilt on the ( illegally) demolished site of Johannesburg 1st steam laundry. Woollies ans picknpay as well as some wonderful restaurants. Pleanty safe secure parking

  • Joy Tupholme

Love this centre, such a fabulous design and tenant mix and perfectly located - been in the area for years and we really needed a centre like this. Well done to the owners and management for a superb property, very impressive. Been there 3 weekends in a row and really loved my experiences!

  • Kerry Wilson

I love the convienince of this little centre park and walk straight into the shop you need. A nice mix of grocery ( Woolies and PnP) and decor and gift shops. I was particularly pleased to find Rain who do refills of a nice simple natural hand soap, so my recycling is better.

  • DangerDog Productions

A new shopping centre at time of this review. It has a number of trendy restaurants with key tenants Pick n Pay and Woolies Food. All your needs will be catered for at this shopping center. Check out Soul Souvlaki in the water tower for delicious Greek street food.

  • Rapelo Rakobela

Great compact, chilled and clean shopping centre. It’s very convenient to many people and you can quickly walk/drive in and get pretty much whatever you want without delay, even after 7pm. Good variety of sotores. Not many restaurants but people seem to like them.

  • Gary Pitt

Unique in the Johannesburg Heritage location, this is an unusual and slightly quirky shopping centre. Some unusual businesses make for a pleasant stroll on a lazy day. All shops and public areas are clean and well maintained. A good first impression! …

  • Chidozie C

The shop is very good. The level of architecture in the area is amazing. I could be doing my regular shopping in Pick n Pay to sitting the cosy Cocachio restaurant drinking a cup of Latté. I love the area and it's close to my work, so I go there regularly.

  • Ernest Jacobs

Love stopping at Rand Steam Shopping Centre Not as fast-paced as some other Centers there is this relaxed vibe making it a good place for ppl that suffer from anxiety, From washing your car to buying Art make sure you grab a burger on your way out enjoy.

  • Mc Glory Shezi

Love it. Pick N Pay clean. Postnet staff very helpful. Toilets are small but very clean and classy old style. Small complex and every store you go to the staff is friendly and helpful. I would of loved to see more South African citizen as parking staff.

  • sekgathe faith

The shopping center is amazing. It is safe and not always packed like other shopping centers. The Clicks store is quite big and I also love that they have a pharmacy. The shopping center also has interesting stores for pets, skincare and restaurants

  • Abi Hollow

Love this shopping center. It is kind of a mix between urban and organic design, which gives a slight Steampunk vibe. Just wish there was a local clothing store there. Otherwise good selection of shops and restaurants, which will suit your needs.

  • Vi Mi Charnley

The grounds are clean not just tidy. Nothing i saw as i entered, forced me to leave. I appreciate the true security on the premise and not the "car guards". All shops look smart. Little disappointed by PicknPay. It needs a deep spring cleaning.

  • Leonore Verster

Very pleasant shopping experience. Interesting history that was kept alive by the architecture and pictures. Excellent food court. Time will tell of the quaint homeware and artisanal outlets will be viable, as the prices are rather steep.

  • John T. Liabara

Rand Steam is a vibrant marketplace, offering a diverse range of products. The lively atmosphere and friendly vendors create an enjoyable shopping experience. It's a great spot for discovering unique items and enjoying local culture.

  • Audrey Anthony

Small and convenient shopping, especially after work. Secure parking with helpful car gaurds who use hand sanitizer before assisting with your shopping bags. Woolworths is clean but the stock levels are running low by 4:30.

  • D. K.

This was my first visit to this centre. Loved the quiet and calm vibe. Extremely neat and secured. Ample parking space and no parking fee. Clicks, Sorbet, Pick n Pay, Woolworths, Postnet, Re-Trend to name a few stores.

  • Ansaaf Sarlie

Love this little shopping center and never have to go anywhere else for anything. Woolworths and pnp offering is a bit limited but always get the essentials. Also, this center is never full and parking is a breeze.

  • Annette Meklis

This has become my go-to shopping centre. High street shopping vibe with convenience. Great tenants: Woolies, Pick 'n Pay, Clicks. Good restaurants & stunning one-of-a-kind boutique shops. Not 'malled' to death!

  • Lynette Penny

Great smaller mall. Super easy to park and access all the shops. Has all the basic shops needed for most requirements. Woolworths, PickPay, Clicks plus extra specialised shops, barber, boutique clothing store.

  • Marié Beytell

Lovely improvement to this area which was soooo ugly before, with mostly building operations for very long. Perfect combination of stores to satisfy most discerning shoppers in an intimate, secure complex.

  • Zoe Hinis

Lovely jewel of restored history, with sparkling and beautiful new stores, from homeware to beauty. Grab a coffee at Bootleggers, and take in the vibe. Hope this lasts and that people discover it soon!

  • Thomas Meyer

Amazing addition to the area, since there was nothing similar for a long time. Shops are limited in their variety, but have all the basics. Love the feel of the old buildings that has been preserved.

  • adin

I see they closed the cow fish restaurant and changed to mozambik. cant wait to eat there. I love the small Greek place soul souvlaki, got my meal in under 10 minutes!!! the woolies is nice as well.

  • Melissa Eisner

Nice shopping center. Came here for the Rielheim but found lots of other neat little shops selling all sorts of home goods. Plus they have a Bootlegger coffee shop. Makes for a nice morning out.

  • Susan Smith

Such a trendy new spot! Great eating houses, lovely gift shops to browse around, overall a good looking shopping centre.... Went to Cowfish, I recommend the crab salad, good value for money too!

  • Tshebi Tess

The place caters for your everyday needs, it's a relatively small place where you can relax and lay back. It has a few ATMs though. Other than that, you can find almost anything you want there

  • Brenda Dorren

Only issue was lack of gluten free items on offer, I did order quiche but only ate the topping scraped off the base!! Coffee was nice decor quirky, I already posted photos of coffee mugs etc

  • Tasneem Mosam

One doesnt have to walk miles ...shops , restaurants , ATMs are all within close distance. There are unique, independently owned stores. A welcome change to a traditional mall. Safe parking.

  • Zimkita Sogoni

I'm obsessed with this shopping centre. it's one of the few that really caters for people who leave the office late. The atmosphere is just relaxing and it's do scenic for a shopping mall.

  • Roland Gregorio

Pick & pay the best branch in JHB caters for vegans and vegetarians too. Woolworths doesn't cater much for vegans. Overall a pleasant place to shop. The only negative are the car guards.

  • Laura Wingrove

I love this store. I pop-in at every opportunity I get. Good restoration of carefully selected second hand furniture. Class, quality and authenticity. Just an inspiration design space.

  • Ntokozo Dhlamini

It is situated in a nice and quiet neighborhood, it is in a safe and secure area. It is by far the cleanest shopping center I have ever visited with the ground looking as good as new.

  • Amanda Schwarz

Lifestyle Shopping Centre with lovely space where restaurants are situated. Shops like NAP, Rain, Rialheim, art gallery. I like Boho Cafe and Bootleggers. A pleasant surprise.

  • Erika Fahn

Lovely, clean, safe with all the necessary shops, sadly lacking restaurants since Mocambique, Curry up, Colcaccio and Bootleggers where replaced, nothing for a vegan.

  • Michael Bond

As with many shopping centers or malls, no dedicated motorcycle parking. Nearly had my bike knocked over by someone swinging into what they thought was an empty bay.

  • William Lehlogonolo Lekgau

Nice location. Very convenient especially for people working around Parktown. The area is always clean and some of the convenient facilities are available

  • Jabulile Zondo

Small pnp for quick shopping. Not much because they cater mainly for students so you can't do groceries for a family of 6. Rather go to bigger stores.

  • Raquel Ballester

Fish zone could smell better. Old fish? I like fresh meat. Had to returned Karam beef due to being off when opened pack at home. Too much loose blood

  • Matete Payc

What a beautiful place. We need more centres like these. The design definitely suits the location it's in and caters for its demographic. Nice one

  • Mpho Lekone

Very Convenient, close to empire road, around Richmond in Johannesburg, there's a car wash, Clicks, westpack, PNP liquor, Pnp supermarket and etc

  • Bulelani Baqwa

Please open a Caltex/Astron Station and a Fresh stop here, it would be very conveniently placed for people that live in Richmond and Milpark

  • Nicole N Makasi

Strip mall. Free parking, there is Clicks, Woolies, PnP, Crazy store, 4 Atms from major banks, DHl, Sorbet and other very useful stores.

  • Dr. U. Hira

Ok for students who reside at Wits. But definitely not for your entire month end shopping to take place under one roof or at one place.

  • Fatima Vaid

Woolies Food Market have a very limited range - Pick 'n Pay stocks better. I prefer Campus Square which is 5 mins away from Rand Steam

  • Lulu Jardine

Shopping center with woolworths food, pick n pay, Clicks, sorbet and westpac, unfortunately there's zero coffee shops which is a shame

  • Barry Barnard

My favourite place to shop, as it's conveniently located. Good mix of stores and the car wash is a bonus. Plenty of parking.
