It was incredibly sad to hear of Otto's passing on his trip to Hawaii with his family now more than a year ago. Otto is such an incredibly kind and honest human being, as well as a great mechanic, so how could anyone with his values and acumen for fixing automobiles take over his and his lovely wife Lenke's business? Shawn and Kristy to the rescue! Shawn is an excellent mechanic and honest to the core, so will tell you exactly what you need fixed and nothing else. I had a 17 year old Audi that I bought used through a customer of Otto's about 7 years ago that was starting to result in a lot of repairs; but instead of just keeping repairing it and costing me more money, Shawn advised me to go out and get a less expensive car to repair i.e. a used Honda or a Toyota and he would check it over for me before I bought it. Thanks to Shawn I found a Honda I'm super pleased with and am very grateful for his guidance and honesty in helping me make this purchase; and his right hand Office Manager, Kristy, carries the same great values, so you're in great hands at Raybern Motors!

I would like to thank Raybern Motors for their professionalism and diligence while diagnosing and repairing my brothers Volkswagen. I shopped around for a business that specializes in European vehicles and I was not disappointed. Due to my brothers job and practicum for school, he was very busy so I dealt with the vehicle repair for him (mainly over the phone with the receptionist and the technicians). I thought it would be quite difficult dealing with something like this over the phone, but everyone at Raybern Motors made it easy, keeping me updated along the way. The care and transparency with the issues and repair gave me peace of mind that the car was in excellent hands and that me and my brother were getting an honest deal. I went in because my wipers no longer worked and when all other places were closed due to the holidays or just not taking people in for more than a week, Otto was available to me immediately. Within an hour I had brought my vehicle in and he diagnosed and had the part ordered for same day. I brought it back in the next business day and he had it fixed (for cheaper than what he had originally quoted for the part) in a timely manner. Otto even took the time to show me the defective part which I could now see the actual problem myself and was informative. I will be using Otto in the future as well as plan on bringing my wifes vehicle in as well from now on.

Suspicious of Otto. Had a 2006 saab 9-5 and I had issues with the DIC which he changed. Later I found he used an aftermarked one and charged me $500 for it, had to replace it again which I knew it was that part, he wanted to change another assembly for $1000.00, I found the SAAB DIC online for $400 but I also found the aftermarket DIC he used to $200.00. Also there is a ton of info on these aftermarket parts that fail after a year (like the one he used). Now he doesnt seem dishonest and his service is quick, but I cant support those kind of mark ups on non quality parts. Ended up changing the DIC myself in 10 min, no problems since.

Terrible!! I had a coolant leak and we took it in and they charged us $500 for a new water pump which was on other side of the leak. I ha to take it in the next day because try didn't tighten a nut and there was a squeak. Within a matter of days the leak was back same spot (or ha never left I just wasn't looking for it thinking it was fixed). When I went in he got defensive and began waving his finger at me accusing me of saying he is a scam artist and got extremely confrontational even when I tried to calm him does not know what he is doing , overcharges you for everything, and takes months to fix minor problems

While Shawn looked over my car and found the problem that other mechanics have missed over the past two years (and a leak introduced by the last mechanic!), Kristy gave me some excellent practical suggestions for other things that were important for me about life in Calgary -- dating, where to find certain kinds of foods, and things like that. It's so great to have good car doctors who make you feel like family while they help keep your car healthy. I used to count on Otto and his wife who used to run Raybern, but Kristy and Shawn are just as wonderful. So glad they're here.

Otto is a great guy who will give you a straight deal with no BS. We've known Otto for a few years now. He's not the cheapest mechanic but his prices are way better than any dealership. He's been a mechanic for about 43 years and he knows European cars (and domestic cars too) like nobody else. I would not hesitate to recommend Otto to anyone. He's honest, reliable, and affordable. You can be assured that when you take your vehicle to Otto that you will be treated honestly, truthfully, and with respect.

This guy is the absolute best in Calgary. I can't say enough. We have a few new Mercedes and new VW's. I wouldn't dare ever take my car back to the stealership. He is completely honest and probably has the best rate in Calgary. I highly recommend that anyone with a European car take it to Otto! He uses imported oil specific for German OEM Motors and his shot rates are amazing! VW charged me 220 for a oil change in my Touareg. Otta... 108.. He is THE BEST!

Shawn did an absolute satisfactory job working on my engine and fixed everything professionally and very timely. I brought it in as an emergency case and he had it troubleshot and fixed the same day. I’m very impressed and happy with the results. The office staff was very friendly, helpful and professional as well! All of the info was very transparent and easy! He will take your car in even if you messed up your own DIY job. I didn't bring my engine to top dead center and I bent some valves when doing some engine work. He was able to fix my car within a week. With tunedub I couldn't get an appointment tell a month later and Tony's wouldn't take my car because I messed it up myself which is totally understandable. The price is reasonable and probably the same as most other places

Otto was very helpful. My rabbit broke a camshaft because it did not like cheap oil. Otto sourced and fitted a replacement engine for me and really tried to fit me in to his busy schedule. I would second all the comments about his honesty and add that he is an all round good guy. A mechanic that can be trusted with a depth of knowledge second to none. Do not go the VW stealership! Disappointing. I am also suspicious of Otto. He left my car outside in a hail storm during a service. When I asked him about it he said that there was no hail there (I live ten blocks away so I knew that wasn't true) and the damage must have occurred before I brought it in. It was actually my fault as I picked my car up late but the explanation left me with little trust in him.

Otto and Tamas are both excellent. They are very reasonable and honest, which can be a rare thing in their field. I have seen them a few times now for some work on my Mercedes and they have always been fantastic in service, pricing and letting me know whats important. I highly recommend them if you drive a German car and don't want to fork over all your money at the dealer.

Love Otto at Raybern! I would not trust anyone else with my VW. He is absolutely the best! I even drive from Edmonton to go to him.. They are by far the best mechanic I have been too. They don't fix what is not broken. I have been told by others vw mechanics something needed to be done, but Otto checked it and said nothing was wrong . No doubt about it, he is amazing!!

Otto and his wife run a great, honest shop. Very kind people and work with you to solve any of your car issues. They specialize in Foreign Euro cars, but can handle anything that comes through their doors. He is one of the few SAAB specialists in the city and knows the cars very well. He will not rip you off, and goes above and beyond on many occasions.

Otto is a fantastic mechanic. He has kept my '99 Saab 9-3 running despite its best efforts to die. Otto is an honest, fair, and really nice guy. Once lent me his personal car when my car took longer than expected to fix (parts delivery delay). I would recommend Otto and Raybern Motors to anyone. A true gem in a nasty industry.

As usual, enjoyed the great, friendly, and personable service of Otto and his team. If you have a European automobile, cannot recommend this place enough. Great shop…..quoted me 2 hours for the repair to my van but it took longer and I wasn’t charged any additional fees. I appreciate a shop that stands by its quote. I was in quickly and out by the time they had promised. I would recommend them for work on your Mercedes.
