My husband and I booked a one night “staycation” at the Residence Inn by Marriott for our 1 year Wedding Anniversary which was completely destroyed. We had made our reservations through the hotel by phone. We did not receive a confirmation e-mail upon booking. The only correspondence we did receive was asking us to check-in online and if we wanted to upgrade. When we arrived and tried checking in we were advised our credit card was declined. We had a set limit of $500 set on our MasterCard for our stay which should have covered a King suite plus $100 security/damage deposit and taxes. The rate of the room with taxes included was $269. Shocked, I demanded a breakdown of the charges they were attempting to charge. The front desk staff member stated there was two transactions, one was $320 which cleared (cost of the room is what we understood but have no idea what the extra $51 was for) and the second attempted transaction of $200 PLUS “room and taxes”. According to the front desk staff the $200 was for security/damage and would be refunded after our stay. We had no idea why there was extra “room and taxes”. I was unaware they were attempting two separate transactions until AFTER both transactions were put through. We then asked, if the $320 was the cost of our room and taxes, why were we being “taxed” a second time on the security/damage deposit. We also exclaimed that the security/damage deposit seemed very high. We had stayed in multiple hotels (4 hotels across Canada) in the past year and none had charged more than $100. The staff member seemed confused and kept repeating that the room plus tax was a total of $269. Which was the cost of the room including all taxes and fees. When we explained that we were not advised that a damage security charge above and beyond the actual cost of the room would be required on booking and could not afford this unreasonable security/damage deposit, the staff member offered to get a Manager. The Manager walked out with an attitude and continued to argue that no hotel charges less than $200 for security/damage and mocked me by making faces. He treated us like second class citizens and didn’t care that our first wedding anniversary was being completely destroyed. He repeatedly called me a liar and looked down on me condescendingly. It’s a day you can’t relive. I walked out in tears adding a few choice words for the “worst hotel EVER!!” Thankfully a better and more classy hotel was willing to do everything to salvage our night. Hilton Hotel at the Winnipeg Airport is not only a 4 star hotel but charged only $100 security/damage. Our total charge for a 1 bedroom king suite WITH taxes AND security came out to less than the $320 the Residence Inn charged on our credit card and they NEVER tried taking out secondary charges equally double the hotel stay cost. On top of that, the Hilton Hotel sent us up a free cake to celebrate. The staff was courteous and room was spotless. The manager at the Residence Inn insisted that the credit card company would automatically reverse the $320 charge if we called them which was completely untrue. We had to take out a temporary increase to book the new hotel and spent over an hour on the phone disputing charges by the Residence Inn. The credit card company said the $320 was at the Residence Inn’s bank and was on hold, they wouldn’t be able to recover it for 5-10 business days. I wonder if Marriott makes some good interest on that held rip off cash?!? This hotel should be investigated! Do NOT stay there. Other negative reviews have stated all kinds of strange “damage security” charges of differing amounts. Nowhere on the hotels website does it state is policy or amount they charge for security. It is also not stated when booking and no confirmation of booking e-mail provided with breakdown of costs. Shady company…shady unprofessional and rude staff!

Hotel location was great. Right by Polo park mall and close to Ikea and Outlet mall. We did not receive any housekeeping services because of covid and we stayed for 3 nights. If we were missing anything we had to go to the front desk and ask. Dirty towels and garbage were asked to be left outside the room. The room we received was not completely clean. Crumbs on the kitchen counter, hair inside the drawers, stains on the curtains, blanket and mattress of the sofa bed. Short hours for free breakfast from 7-9am. Doors are locked after 10pm or 11pm and you need your card key to come in. At the lobby they have an area for free coffee and water. Plenty of parking spaces. It was hard to control the temperature of the room. If we wanted the air conditioning on, the cold air would blow thru the vent pointed at the bed which made it very cold for those sleeping. Without air conditioning the room was too warm.

This hotel seems pretty new and most of the staff was quite friendly. The room we had was large and the location is quiet. The cleanliness of our room was an issue. Upon arrival and using our bathroom it was noticed by my wife and daughter that there were "dark hairs" all over in the bathroom and an hand print on the back of the door, not what we'd expect. A call to the front desk brought for some cleaning brought somebody shortly. They gave a quick once over and were gone. As we retired for the night my wife found gum stuck to the head board. In the morning we found spills on the walls and a sizable dent in the fridge door. We mentioned these items to the front the desk and hoped the cleaning portion would be looked after. Unfortunately not. I cleaned the gum from the headboard. Overall, disappointed in the cleanliness of this hotel.

Not sure what everyone is talking about in past reviews but I would stay away from this hotel unless you plan on moving in like everyone else . This isn’t a hotel but more like a hostel or temporary housing for people . The breakfast is the same everyday . There are spiders and other bugs in the rooms . People eating in their Jammie’s and slippers and walking around like it’s their house . Gym equipment is broken lights turn off in the middle of your workout . Blinds don’t close people can see into your rooms . There is 2 hotels contracted together and everyone shares everything . Not good for a Marriott . Right next to a working train track . There is nothing around here except a super Walmart, a bunch of dollar stores and liquidation centers

The hotel it's self is pretty nice and our room was great. The hotel was completely booked which caused a few problems, the pool is in no way accommodating to the number of people that can be in the hotel at one time. The pool seems to be designed for a hotel half or a third the size of this one. As mentioned the hotel was full, this also led to cars parking on all the Sidewalks, blocking others in and parking against snow banks! This hotel has great potential to be amazing but needs the management to address these issues. For what family's pay to stay here you shouldn't have to park across ellice Ave and walk across to get to the hotel with kids, for that reason I am giving this hotel a 3 with the hopes it gets better.

This was our second stay at the hotel in two weeks and it was much better. The hotel had been cleaned up and our room was wonderful! The staff was super friendly. It is so nice having your own kitchen! I rated it a 4 for the following reason: If you have any packages sent to the hotel ensure you are diligent and have them double check. We asked daily, starting Oct 4, for our package and they continued to state it never arrived. On our second visit as we were checking out (Oct 14) the lady at the front desk advised there was a package left for us and she had placed it in the fridge however they could not locate it and we had to leave. After the shipping company looked at their tracker it was discovered it had been delivered on Oct 4th. They need a better system of recording deliveries and notifying the guests.

This property is located incredibly close to a lot of shops, restaurants and attractions. Service was super friendly & prompt, welcoming us warmly as new visitors to the country. Our king bed suite was very clean and comfortable while affordable in price too. Marriott properties are my preference and this hotel did not let me down at all. Plenty of parking and we felt safe everywhere we went on the property.

Quite possibly the nicest, most modern Residence Inn I’ve stayed in… in the country. This is a return visit after a two-year absence due to Covid. Rooms are modern and clean as is the entire property. Price, very reasonable. They do provide “free breakfast“. And very special recognition to Mr. Turner who went above and beyond to assure my comfort and satisfaction. Professional, courteous, friendly… there aren’t enough adjectives to describe it. Thank you sir! Location is excellent, not far from the airport. This is a duel property, meaning it’s a Fairmont Inn as well as a residence inn. Parking can be a bit of an issue here but other than that, this place scores really high!

Family booked a room here to visit for my Birthday, the rooms are what you would expect. But the front desk is grossly understaffed they can't answer the phone, Huge line up at the desk on Sunday, only one staff member working, the hotel is layed out poorly you have to walk through the entire hotel and lobby to get to the pool (which is under sized for the amount of people.) And Hot Tub is out of order. Not to mention hardly any parking because they dont even remove snow from the parking lot. This is MAJOR disappointment for the "Mariot" brand name. STAY AWAY

The Good: the staff are excellent and the rooms are modern, spacious and were clean. The bad: our sink was clogged, the alarm clock woke us up both mornings at 6 am - thought we had de-programmed it but evidently not. The ugly: parking was an absolute gong show. Nowhere near enough spots and it looked like they hadn't cleared the snow in over a month. Huge nasty ruts, icy walking conditions, no spots available, major congestion trying to get in and out. That alone has me convinced to never return.

I usually enjoy Residence inn, but this one was a bit different. The staff were nice but don't tend listen to you (could the mask). My room was not very clean and when I asked for a cleaning I was told that because of covid-19.. the services are adapted. I spoke to a manager who agreed that they will do a good cleaning for my room so I left the whole morning for that to come back to an unclean room. The washroom was not very clean

Stayed here for 4 days, the room was excellent. Having a kitchen was lovely, being able to save money and cook. Unfortunately the pool was under renovations when we were there though were really sad about it!! It looked awesome, the hotel next door let us use there pool (although I wouldn’t recommend going there) I loved our hotel! Breakfast was good too, beds are all comfy and location was excellent.

Staff was super friendly and informative on everything. Room was great! Clean, spacious, and had all the amenities we needed. Pool was good for Adults, but better for children. They have a late evening adult swim only, so that worked out nice for us. Close to a lot of restaurants, and shopping. We will for sure return in the future.

Very clean and wonderful hotel. Rooms are very large, modern and clean. Excellent staff throughout the entire stay. Everyone is super inviting and helpful. Sabrina and Stephanie did a fantastic job recommending and helping us find things in the area to do. Pool was awesome for us and our son. Slides super fast! Will definetly stay again.

Amazing room in this newly built hotel. Full with modern technology, fully equipped kitchen with couch in living room. My son loved the fact that he can watch YouTube at a hotel room. The general manager came by next morning to see if our breakfast was good. Big and spacious breakfast room with lots of seating. Only issue is the parking.

Friendly staff, managers go above and beyond for people. The hotel was very accommodating. Great prices for the large rooms. Amazing pool area great for kids. This is now going to be our regular hotel. We love it!! A couple with a 3 year old and 2 chihuahuas.

We stayed here for the weekend recently. We needed a pet friendly hotel and picked this one. What a great choice. We loved the setup of the room with the kitchenette, it was really spacious. We stayed as a family here on New Year’s Eve and we had such a great time. The staff was always so accommodating, the rooms were very spacious and we loved that it had a little kitchenette in there. Most of us found the pool to be high in chlorine smell but the kids and grandkids still had a great time.

The stay we had was relaxing however the covid restrictions and crappy pre packaged sandwiches from jimmy dean were horrible and could have been done by staff. The room we had had some stains on the bathroom wall were something that should have been addressed by maintenance prior to our stay.

The staff is 10 stars Amazing location, the rooms are beautiful and clean and has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Morning breakfast was awesome as well. Would love to go back if we are in the neighborhood

An excellent place to stay and we much enjoyed all the amenities that remained open. Room was very clean and the entire hotel was well kept! Kids enjoyed the pool and the staff were great. We only had trouble with the app booking us in, attempting multiple times but never effective.

Not great, elevators were filthy, pool room chemicals were way too potent I couldn’t bring my 6 month old to the pool because it was so bad. 2 security on each level. Didn’t see anyone cleaning other than the rooms. No toilet paper in the pool bathroom. Not a great experience.

Felt unsafe, hallways and stairwells were not cleaned and garbage and food sat in hallways for the entire week. Fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night. Hotel could not control the loud noise and arguing and fighting. Paid premium rate but had an awful experience.

There was no free parking available(cars were even parked on the sidewalk of hotel) and they gave away my room to someone else. I reserved two months out from my stay. First time I have encountered either of those problems at any hotel in all my travels, chain or independent.

Modern rooms, they have limited supplies in the kitchenette. The bathroom is beautiful though. Limited storage areas. The bed is comfortable. The windows aren't truly black out. Staff is friendly and the hotel location is conveniently next to shopping.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. We are a family of 6 and the queen suite had more than enough room for all of us comfortably. Kitchenette and full size fridge definitely came in handy aswell. Would highly recommend this hotel for a family night out.

Great suites, great clean hotel. Has a nice indoor pool with water slide. The slide is dark going down, change the slide panels to a few clear ones to let light in so kids don't panic and hurt themselves. Has a nice gym on 6th floor as well.

Be careful at these hotels! Drug paraphernalia and bags with a white substance have been found in the rooms. I like to take my family to this hotel for birthdays and small getaways but when I came across the drugs in my room where my kids
