Purchased a truck in March 2023 as a secondary vehicle with plans to give to my son for his 18th birthday. Appearance is great iTnside and out, there was a service engine light on during the test drive. Mr. Ross had one of his "workers" take the truck to have the light checked and inspection performed as I did paperwork. Upon his worker returning stated it was due for an oil change and they had it done during the inspection. (which should have been completed prior to us coming in as we had an appointment) I had to remind the owner that it is illegal to sell me a vehicle that has hard plates and a sticker on it as it is not registered in my name, said worker removed both immediately. As I am waiting on completion of paperwork I was informed the truck was going be detailed.....this was not accurate and Mr. Ross gave me $40 to get it detailed myself as I pointed out there was trash in the bed still and the inside was still extremely dirty. I should have taken that as a HUGE RED FLAG, but I understand people get busy so I had it cleaned myself. 36 Days into owning the truck it stops running, won't even turn over. I contacted the owner he states the mechanic he trust and works closely with is out of town but will be back next week and can get it towed there as "he's not in the business to sell bad vehicles" 9 days later still haven't heard anything back, no response from vm or text sent to the owner I had it checked out on my own and the FICM had to be replaced as well as a major coolant leak that had gone into the electrical box. Mr. Ross was notified no response back once again. I had the truck repaired it ran for about a week until the ICP sensor went out, we had that repaired. Two weeks later the truck won't turn over, the batteries will not detect a charge. Remove both take them to Auto Zone to be charged they will not hold a charge. Manager stated it appears used batteries were put in as they were not the same brand and had build up on them. Purchased two new batteries, the truck is running but feels as if it's slipping. The following Monday I come outside to a flat tire, assume there's a nail in it and have it removed put the spare on get the truck to a tire shop where I am shown all 4 tires are dry rotted inside. There is plenty of tread and the tires appear from the outside to look fairly new, at Ross' Rides I was told the tires are new. Had to replace all 4 tires. August 23rd truck once again will not turn over have a mechanic come and look at it diagnosis bad injectors. ALL 8 OF THEM. I have contacted Mr. Ross he did call me back the following day with his same "I'm not in the business to sell bad vehicles" and "my shop is being audited I'll get with you in two day and we will get this handled" I explained my frustration and in detail what I had to replace and the value amounts. NEVER HEARD BACK AGAIN FROM HIM. I sent a text and left a vm with the receipts of what had been purchased. I had to put down 4k on a truck that I have paid in more on at this point to even drive it. In 6 months it has ran a total of 2.5 months combined. I contacted the lender two weeks ago they took a formal complaint on my behalf and luckily have refinanced the vehicle to a much lower payment and interest rate and assisted with the injectors. They have not been put on yet as it is a process and has to be towed into a shop. I also was informed that the 4k did not go towards my balance it went to Ross' Rides and they did not make the decision on what the down payment is. I was advised to file a report with Texas Department of Transportation against the establishment as well, which I have. I was sold a truck that has more mechanic issues than the value of it, and am stuck paying a payment on it for something that is sitting taking up space. I am so disgusted over the fact that someone practically stole money from me and has not a care that he sold me this truck. Next step small claims court I will get my down payment back. Everyone will know not to business at Ross Rides Auto Sales.

Poor Management with no awareness, consideration or empthaty for customers with disabilities. Mental or physical. Where the manager clearly and blatantly disregarded my condition by saying even if I was in a wheelchair they would roll up the small flight of stairs just so I can sign the papers in a tiny room of an office. Literally hearing these words being said was beyong my wildest imaginations. Worse still with the owner sitting pompously watching and validation all this with little ot no concern. It wouldn't seen so childish if this wasn't regarding a business transaction with middle-aged men. But considering it was, I'm appalled. All this for a vehicle I arrive with cash to pay for outrightly with the accommodation that I sign the documentation outside due to my mental health issues as some suffering from chronic anxiety which I clearly expressed and pleaded for reason. Cash in hand. Please take your money where you are valued as a customer and treated with empathy regardless of your condition, limitations or disabilities rather than where you would be treated as nothing more than a transaction to be inputed into the system. As a fellow business owner, I am disappointed and concerned such poor business models are still in practice in 2022. My review; DONT BUY OR DO BUSINESS HERE. These guys are clutch, no pun intended. The whole crew - Ross himself helped me greatly and spent a lot of time on a car situation for me, as he was about to walk out the door for the day. These are the last of the local urban -- in town, community used car dealerships -- where you have an Austin born & raised operator. Location - right in the middle of every important thoroughfare in Austin; easy to get in and out of. Across the street is Cindy's snow cones, (also Tyson Tacos a block away) been there for possibly over 20 years. So - killer old school local Austin experience. Recommended. #100

We messaged Dexton from Ross Rides, he said he would stay late to show us a car. We arrived a little earlier than planned, but after the place was closed. The owner Mr. Ross let us inside, where we had a good chat about the grandkids and before you know it…we worked out a very favorable cash deal on a good used car. It’s nice to work with someone who has been around Austin for a long time. As another reviewer said “the place has an old school feel”! Great experience, great service, would definitely purchase from Ross again.

Sold me a lemon. they sent the car to their friend who passed the inspection without looking at the car! just signed and gave the papers. The dealership said the car was HIGHLY ILLEGAL AND UNSAFE. they stole 19k from me. They say you have a 30 day return policy but i went back after 8 days just to make them give me a fair car and fix ALL the destructive problems and they pushed it to the side. Im so mad i cant even write a review. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE? I wish i saw these reviews before I bought from them.

We LOVE our new ride! Our 2008 Range Rover HSE L322 is a great pre-owned vehicle. Sure, there are things that need to be fixed but it's a used vehicle, it's gonna happen. We were treated very fairly and given a fair price as well. Thanks to Roy and Dexton we are now riding in a luxurious and reliable vehicle.

Roy Ross ripped me off with a bad Accord Hybrid. They told me I was on my own. Talking with others, I have learned that they have a history of selling auction hybrids with known bad hybrid batteries and sticking it to their customers. Stay clear of this place if you don't want to be ripped off!

Sells cars to kids and takes advantage of them. Sold car to my daughter who had 5,000 he told her the car was worth 5,500 knowing that it wasn’t worth that much it was listed for less. Just cause his bald self saw my daughters cash. Two days later the car won’t turn on and he won’t refund it.

This place is wack tried to sell me a car that was already broke on arrival and even told lies to get me to buy it no care here just want your money can’t believe they claim Austin as home time to go if you ask me Ross rides please more like Mr steal your money!!!

Purchased a car for my son here. He was very limited on funds and needed a reliable car for work. They sold us a complete lemon. Car lasted less than 6 months. He’s been without a vehicle since.

I bought a car and it came out with a problem and besides the air did not work for the days of buying and other problems and since they make you sign a non-guarantee paper nothing can be done
