Their Patient Billing department really did me dirty. As a non-Native English speaker I really appreciate to have my answers short and clear. One of the female operators just kept giving me long and repetitive answers that don’t have a conclusion. It was really confusing and misguiding. The worst thing is that, once the operator found out that I (but definitely she) had trouble making things clear, she gave me the WORST response I could EVER imagined any service industry can do. She PRETENDED not hearing me for a few seconds although nothing ever went wrong in my communication device. And she just HANG UP LIKE THAT. What a brilliant and clever way to get rid of a “troublesome” customer. I felt extremely offended by this act. But at the same time I must applaud for her cleverness to did me dirty like this. If you have trouble explaining things to me, feel free to switch to another competent operator. Don’t get me wrong the hospital is good, but they have some really questionable phone-line operators. For those who questions what I’ve asked. I just want to know how many bills that I need to pay and how much I own them. Such simple questions took her 200 words to explain. I only need numbers.

The hospital is hit miss like all of NSW Health. The nurses have mental health issues so depending on which nurse you get, either you will receive good care or be subjected to abuse like having your meds not given, information not provided, details not passed to your doctors (who often review remotely so you don’t see them every day). The outsourced food is not relevant to your needs and not replaced with adequate nutrition if you have allergies etc. I saw one new father deliberately kept outside because the nurses didn’t like him then watched them laugh at the struggling new mum who was doing things without support and the nurses just watched, didn’t help her. Same with trying to get information from Doctors, they simply don’t talk to you. The information provided by the nurses is often half-truths designed to placate people not be honest with them.

I spend two times in at RPA in August 23 with broken Toe and in October/November 23 with a Yeast/Fungus infection whereof 7 days in ICU and 7 days in recovery at 7 East Wing where Kathrine our Florence Nightingale shined every night ....and I have nothing but praise and thanks for all the support I received starting with the care off the Ambulance Staff - Emergency Unit Staff - ICU Staff and Doctors - Nurses - Physio - Dietitian ....you been amazing ....THANK YOU...it has been an eyeopener for me seeing how well Multiculturalism works at RPA in particular in the ICU Unit where its flat out 24 / 7 every day and you see how well it works in particular amongst the Asian Staff Member pulling together as a Team .....I HOPE YOU GET THE RECOGNITIAN YOU DESERVE.....YOU'RE CHAMPIONS ALL OFF YOU... THANK YOU.....THAN YOU

Never will I EVER go back to this hospital What ever happened to privacy Everyone needs to hear what is wrong with you, instead of going into a room they come to the waiting area to discuss the reason your there !!!! to the triage nurse that was on this evening who was so rude… listen, you don’t like your job, do something else, because you really are miserable and you take it out on patients. This poor lady who did not understand much English sitting next to me, had been there for 7 HOURS. When she approached the rude nurse, who’s name I will not mention, she told her to sit down and wait her turn lol 7hrs!!!!! So we got up and left after waiting for 3 hrs RPA Emergency - you need help

I absolutely hate hospitals, I suffer from anxiety so it can be patronising for someone like myself to be emursed in an environmentas such as this). But as soon as soon as I walked through the door at the Emergancy Department I had a gentleman who escorted me to the recipition in a warmly amd genuine manner, without any judgement to assure I was secure. I would like to thank all the team at the gynaecologist section, the nurses who attended me for my screening, and the doctors. All of them went above and beyond with their duty of care without judgement to ensure extra precautions were taken. They are very professional, clean, and very caring at this hospital.

I endured a frustrating ordeal today at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, spending a total of four hours seeking assistance for my ear infection. Initially, I waited for half an hour in the general ER, followed by an additional hour in the pediatric ER, where I was weighed and questioned about my condition. Unfortunately, after investing an additional two and a half hours, all I received was ad hoc advice, with no concrete solution. My request for additional nasal spray, which I hoped would alleviate my ear discomfort, was met with promises that were never fulfilled. This experience was reminiscent of the challenges often associated with public hospitals.

The worse hospital, we went there in emergency ward and waiting for 2 hours without any treatment done yet. My husband got diarrhea, vomiting and high fever for almost 4 days. He not even have power for sit down or walk after been diarrhea and vomiting without any food for couple days but the nurse still asking him to wait. And she said they need to taking care more worse patients and I don’t know how could more worse my husband will be? Maybe till he die cause lack of fluids then they will taking care of him. He paid higher tax every year, is just so hard to get something to stop his diarrhea and vomiting in that hospital.

The best experience ever at RPA Emergency. I have been to RPA ED more times than I can remember. Usually the ED staff are overworked, under-resourced and really stretched. Waiting times are usually 5+ hours. This time we came in by ambulance. My daughter had dislocated her knee and was in awful pain. The ED was unusually quiet. Nursing staff were great as per usual. The Registrar Zoe Lambert was thorough and a very clear communicator. Pain relief was given and the Xray happened quickly. Discharge plan for MRI and breakthrough endone with 2 weeks off work was completed and we were were home within 2.5 hours. AMAZING!

Children's Ward- the team has been superb! Well done!!! We have been to this hospital multiple times and the team always delivers including the nurses. We felt the love/care and they kept us up to date at all times. The follow up phone call was a nice touched as well. Many, many thanks everyone! ❤️ Unfortunately, kitchen staff needs some upgrading! I wonder if they even try the food before serving. See attached photo, would you eat this? Didn't smell good at all. I'm sure there are a lot of food wastage. I kept seeing the trays being sent back to the kitchen untouched.

My experience today at RPA hospital was a very positive one. I visited outpatients and could not fault any of the services I received today. Wonderful caring staff and very kind care for a minor problem. The staff were very committed to their jobs and provided a very personal service nothing was too much trouble. Staff were genuine and n kind could not do enough for me. It was the first time I had been there but I would recommend this hospital capable and efficient staff They worked well together. Their kind manner and focus on each patient was a credit to all at RPA. Well done!

This is for TPU day surgery service. I needed to do a thumb tendon surgery and they asked me to do fasting since the day before. I came on time at 8AM as scheduled, and they kept me waiting for almost half day now. (8am-6pm) and no ETA announced until everyone else left... Nothing!!! Keep me waiting and waiting in vain. I am extremely disappointed by the service of one of top public hospital in NSW. Update 14-03-2023: I am still waiting in vain and no sign they will do the procedure for me today. Has been two day no food no drink... And continuously almost 24 hours now

Bad experience of whom seeking for the emergency medical treatment service. I am much more depressed after visiting this hospital. I have experiences in uk emergency hospitals and they won’t question the patient why they are here ( as I mentioned in other comments) . There’s song playing in the waiting area however the reception isn’t nice and being meanly to non-native speakers. I would say it’s a particularly discriminate of non- natives speakers hospital. Anyway, if foreigners or nonresidents went here, there might be terrible experience ruining the whole day

If this place worried more about patients (customers) rather than gay pride they might be able to lower ridiculous wait times, if nurses saw patients as people not numbers there may be some level of "care" instead they are too worried about doing Their hair in the mirror and wearing their rainbow lanyard, rather than taking their job with pride. Seems they are only happy to sit at a desk for a pay check while avoiding work with patients. Most appealing experience, they need a lot of work before calling this place a hospital.

Called regarding one of my family members, and was transferred to the paediatric ward, the phone rang and rang and when finally answered: no one was there! They answered the phone to stop it ringing, I could hear them speaking to each other about other patients and what was going on but no one would answer me. Horrible way to treat people who are enquiring about their family and wellbeing. I stayed on the phone for almost five minutes trying to get someone’s attention and talking to myself and no one ever answered me.

I hurt my ankle over the long weekend and visited RPA on Monday for an X-ray. I was blown away by how amazing all the staff in the ER were. As it was a public holiday, it was pretty busy but I was tended to almost immediately with great care and compassion. A big thank you to Steph, Megan, the lovely ladies who took my blood pressure and did my X-ray (I wish I remembered their names) and Dr Freya. Hospitals make me anxious but you were all so great and made me very comfortable.

Typical public hospital from our government. Trash! Emergency nurses were good but good luck getting any treatment. Drs think they're demi-gods & will continually speak over you and not listen. Junkies fighting each other in emergency while they're chasing pills. Wanted to get out of that trash hole so fast I left without taking the catheter out. Never again going there! Tax dollars at work at its finest.

I recently went to the ED for treatment of a miscarriage with symptoms that were distressing for me and I was on my own. From the 000 operator to the ambulance team, the nurses and DR J who treated me, I can only say my experience was nothing but positive. I felt my wait time and care was appropriate for what I was going through. The team I interacted with were caring and empathetic.

I don’t know if they will see it but thank you so much to Maddie, Lisa, Eva, Greg, Todd and all of the other overworked nurses and drs who looked after me whose names I didn’t catch or couldn’t remember. I just had my appendix out and it was my first ever hospital visit and everyone was so kind and attentive. I really appreciate how hard you all work. Thank you so much ♥️

Appalling care All round! Fast track we’re rude and disrespectful to me and as a 66 year old woman who suffered a severe pinched nerve in my back I was discharged without any assistance! Left outside the hospital unable to carry my belongings while they argued with me about using their “precious “ wheelchair??? Disgusting personal to say the least!!!!

Well it's now 4,04 in the morning and having the words of the doctor repeating in my head with a baseline of throbbing pain to help me wonder , pain comes in many forms and some say can be overcome mentally!each to their own I wanna reap the benefits of research and studies so gimme some drugs

Just had call back and investigations from breast screen people after mammogram. Exceptional, empathic and highly efficient service. Thankyou ladies - Sumi and Liana, Dr Miriam and Marnie in reception for making every patient feel so loved and special The way medicine should be

Yesterday, I had to have an operation at RPA. It was amazing service, and the staff were wonderful. All the nurses and doctors were fantastic, and I would like to commend them on their work and thank them again very much. Great job. Thank you …

  • Christopher Tucker

Medical assistance was good; the six-hour discharge process for two bits of paper (prescription and certificate) was ridiculous and unnecessary. It would’ve been much faster to fly to my GP in Melbourne to get to the bits of paper!

  • Jenni Courtney

Procedure policies desperately need an overhaul. VERY slow in responding to EVERYTHING. Staff are lovely and hard working and kind. But procedural delays in getting admitted, getting seen to, getting discharged etc are UNBELIEVABLE

  • SUDIP K C

I was at RPA Hospital and received their excellent treatment. Underwent a successful stem cell transplant in July. Feeling much better after leaving the hospital. All doctors, nurses and other professionals were nice and caring.

  • Inner Westie

I am sitting in the waiting room of the Intensive Care Unit. My husband was admitted for a pulmonary embolism and he has been waiting for hours for treatment. In the meantime people with sprained ankles are getting priority.

  • Alphabet Soup

Very advanced hospital - don’t get fooled from the outside. They are able to treat a wide range of diseases and quite an advanced teaching hospital. World and Australian famous for their robotic surgery!

  • p p

Exceptional service from the midwifes (Henna specially), doctors & all in delivery ward, prenatal & postnatal wards. We definitely felt the care from all. Thank you so much :)

  • Janet Thompson

Staff were calm & kind with a full waiting room behind them. Gave clear information with sensitivity. Much appreciated in both Admission & Wards.
