Was there last night, and here is a recap of my experience. At the door unless you are part of a private party, it’s $20 cover for guys and $10 for girls to get in. The music was actually really good (props to the dj for the music selection and mixing). What gives this place 3 stars in my opinion is that there are many other bars around this area that offer the same, if not exact experience (without any cover charge). This place does go out of its way to make itself seem luxurious or exclusive, but to me there was nothing “special” to go out of my way to go here. That’s not to say I didn’t have a good time, but just stating that as 3 stars in my rating scale constitutes an “average” spot. Not great, not bad just mainly indifferent. I could definitely see myself coming back or considering this place for a private event (the back of the bar is a private area and they do have security to make sure no stragglers migrate/mix Into the back. **UPDATE: since the owner took it personal that I reviewed Panda Express and Chipotle and have them 5 stars** #1: that was just one of my couple of experiences at 310 Bowery. That has nothing to do with my experience here. #2: Chipotle and Panda Express are really good, and consistent. not sure who runs the Rumpus Google business account but if you’re not young you must not understand that lol #3: I gave an honest review, and I feel that your thorough “audit” of places I have been to also has no place on this review, so for that I’m removing another star due to your need to “justify” an ok review. It is quite unprofessional.

We went to Rumpus Room to celebrate my fiancee's 30th Birthday on the Saturday before Halloween. When I was reaching out to numerous venues to find a place that felt right, Gabriel, the owner of Rumpus Room, was the most communicative of the bunch and seemed genuinely interested in making the process simple and low pressure. He answered any questions I had along the way and we were texting the night of so he knew our ETA etc. We got table service for around 12 people, and they set us up with two tables, priority entrance, and lots of fun extras. The bottle service manager was amazing too, with great energy and really made my fiancee's birthday exceptional. They brought over the bottles with style each time and it never felt pretentious or over done, just honest fun and energy. Rumpus Room is definitely not an EDM club or a more typical NYC club in that it's a very eclectic crowd and truly isn't stuck up or anything. Playlist was hip hop, pop, some fun throwbacks and everything in between. We got there at about 10:30pm (they open at 10pm) and it took about an hour or so for the room to fill. Bathroom lines got long but it moved quickly and was better than many other places I've seen. I'd highly recommend Rumpus Room for anyone looking for a memorable night out, and I'd very much recommend emailing them and talking with Gabriel about getting a table ahead of time to really make it awesome. Thank you to the RR team for engineering a night for us that we'll never forget!

I loved this place. Even recommended it to everyone I knew who was looking for a good night out in NYC. Something changed when I visited a few weeks ago. I don't want to be presumptuous, but this place may have profiling issues of the racial variety. I was going to meet friends there, and was first to get there. I went up to the bouncer and he told me there was a $20 cover. Which was weird to me, since they didn't even have a line to get in. The manager came out and confirmed that price. I didn't have $20 in cash, so i left to go to an ATM. I told my friends about the $20 cover. They messaged me back, saying the four of them only paid $5 each. I got money from the ATM, went back expecting to also pay $5 like my friends did. Nope. They again told me it was going to be $20. I had to call my friend, and she had to ask them to please allow me to pay the same amount as she and my other friends paid. They finally relented and I paid the $5 to get in. I don't know why I was asked to pay 400% more than my friends did. The fact that I am black and my friends are white has been a fact that I really haven't been able to shake regarding this situation. No matter the rationalization, it was embarrassing and hurtful to be treated with less respect than my friends. I don't think I can set foot in here ever again because of it.

There is 5 star customer service, and then there is Gabriel (owner) @ Rumpus Room... he deserves 10 stars!! I can not say enough good things about our experience hosting a joint 25th birthday party here. From the initial inquiry all the way through the next day follow up with a iCloud sharing album of professional pictures he took, everything about hosting my birthday party at Rumpus was 100% perfect. Gabriel and his team went above and beyond to ensure we had a great night- Some highlights: - Free VIP table + bottle - Marquee sign with birthday shout out + sparklers - Balloons (including a big "25") - Custom photobooth logo - Customized drink specials named after us - Music requests to accommodate disco theme - Seamless VIP check-in process (for all 150 of our guests) - Custom drink menu with specials named after us - VIP cut the line bathroom cards - Professional pictures sent real time / full album follow up ...the list goes on! A member of his team was around and attentive all night long to ensure there were 0 issues. I want to host every birthday here for the rest of my life!! Thank you Gabriel and team for such a memorable night! We will be back time and time again for a guaranteed fun night of dancing and good vibes at Rumpus.

I don’t normally post reviews but was compelled to when I saw the bill. The drinks were overpriced, I ordered a Jack and Coke (only 1 shot worth of Jack plus coke) which somehow amounted to more than 20 dollars and a Modello on tap was 10 dollars. My friend ordered a vodka soda which also amounted to a little of 20 dollars, and we are not talking about top shelf liquor like grey goose. On the bill it stated both drinks were “top shelf premium”. Way to knock people over the head especially with an a 10 dollar cover charge just to get in. The bartenders were quick to tend to our orders however appeared irritated. Overall the lighting and ambiance of the place is not bad, and the place has a small area to dance which is nice. The music choice is ok however I was not a fan of how the DJ mixes the music. My suggestion is to let people know the price of drinks before pouring them out so it’s not such a surprise.

I was on Friday (visitor),the line was out of order and people came in from all directions of but relatively fast, the bouncer at the entrance was patient and cool. The ratio of ladies and man is good . The place is way too crowded relatively to the space and it is not possible to dance! The bar/drinks is at mediocre level. The lady bartender was kind, The bartender guy was full of attitude. The music is simple and not special, there is no theme behind it and the sound is at a low quality , so there is no reason to charge for admission (boys 20 girls and 10). There is an impossible line for the bathroom. The owner / manager of the place is patient and speaks politely, I personally do not recommend the place if you are looking for a place with good music and good drinks that you can dance and enjoy . Was contemplating on visiting this establishment but after reading the owners “comebacks” he or she lacks customer service skills. How are you getting mad over someone’s review or experience? It looks like you need to tighten up as an “owner”, accept constructive criticism and if it’s not constructive criticism take the review for what it is and move on. A simple I’m sorry you weren’t satisfied would do lol thank God for reviews. Update: Once again sir or ma’am the clap back isn’t necessary lol take the constructive criticism and do better! Update: And this is how a “business owner” (and i use that term loosely) talks to potential customers? Lol you’re only hurting yourself.

Owner was fantastic I got a table for the night as it was my friends birthday: bottle service girl was amazing in terms of asking for what we wanted as well as being attentive as to what we wanted. Bartenders are great as well. Our night took a turn when some random kid claimed to be the owner and said they would throw us out. Fortunately we had already met the owner so we quickly reached out to security and they handled our problem for us. Price was reasonable. Not cheap but well worth its price and was taken care of very well. Wish that kid never ruined our night however staff made up for any issues, hope to go back soon

I had the most amazing birthday at Rumpus Room. Gabriel and Athena provided the greatest service through out the whole planning and execution of the event. Planning was so seamless with their team and everyone had a fantastic experience. This spot was the perfect venue/vibe for a disco/70s themed bday. Open bar option was a complete success for our party with literally no issues all night. Bartenders were extremely attentive and quick with getting new drinks to guests. They really know how to make you feel special and celebrated on your birthday with some surprise perks. Def going to recommend to all my friends!!

It was alright. Take the reviews with a grain of salt because you get a free shot if you leave one. Cover was $10 when we went. It was pretty empty and not filling fast so we left and went elsewhere. The venue inside is quite small but they have 2 bars and the staff seemed to be friendly. I could see this place being fun if it was packed, might have to come back another night. Per the owner’s rude and false response (yes, they offer free shots if you leave a good review and show the bar, hence why they have a suspiciously high number of 5 star reviews), I am changing my review to 1 star. Unprofessional.

Went on a Saturday night with a squad and the place met all of my expectations. The cover was $10. We were in the back by the seats that anyone could post up at. The music was indeed diverse: hip hop, pop, classics, and a little bit of everything else. People were dancing but if you’re not dancing don’t expect other people to either! The energy was unmatched, the security even let us dance on furniture as long as people weren’t a threat to themselves/others. I did not end up buying drinks so I don’t know the prices, just pregame heavy. Would definitely come again.

Don’t want to sound like an old grumpy dude, but the audience of this club looked very underage (not implying that nobody checked IDs)… I’m just sharing my view on the crowd for people who wanna go here. However, 3 stars because quality of speakers was very bad - noticeably bad. Drinks were a bit overpriced too, as many mentioned here. And this despite $10 cover? A lot of clubs/bars have no cover in NYC - for reference. And after paying $10 - the bar was half empty on a Friday night at 1am

Me and some friends went yesterday and they do not have the infrastructure to support the amount of people that was there, music and drinks were acceptable but the thing that I hated was that the line for the bathroom was so long and some people with “special cards” were skipping and the line and went I went to the security guys he just replied “ talk with the owner if you don’t like it” if you were going to treat costumers like that please post a sing outside your bar so regular people like me can save their time and money going to that place.

Rumpus Room Owner- WE are big fans. Fav quote “the customer is not right when the customer is a liar”. You ATE with that. We may be too young to get into your club but TRUST we will be there as soon as the clock strikes 12 on our 21st birthdays. This time next years pls reserve 2 spots in the club. To quote the powerful Queen of Daytime Television, Wendy Williams, “She’s got a point. He’s an icon. He’s a legend. And he IS the moment, NOW come on”.

The worst place I went to. Stayed there for 20 minutes (max) and walked out. The owner took $20 bucks from me and was so rude when I confronted him about the horrible experience my wife and I had even after I Talked to him before I went in. He lied to my face.. If it wasn’t for the bouncer I would’ve made a scene. Hey owner- replying back to you: don’t lie to peoples face and give false statements when asked “how is it inside tonight? “ I am only giving my experience out to the public for awareness. The Rumpus Room was an absolute highlight of our recent weekend trip to New York from London. The manager and staff were super friendly, the service was second to none and the music created a great atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned for a second night, once again a great night. The manger and and staff recognised us from the previous night and were amazing hosts once again. The owner introduced himself to us and couldn’t have been more welcoming.... all in all a place you must visit and have a great time.

They said that they will give us a table with an amount of beer for $150, they made us sign the bill and keep the credit card account opened. At the end the amount was more because they select the 20% gratuity in the bills and they didn’t let us choose the amount of gratuity that we wanted to give. At the end they were really rude with us. I don’t recommend this place at all. They sell it like the best bar in the world, and its a really small pub with only 4 tables and bad service.

The name says it all.. Rumpus Room, yes, it is just a room! If you walk in expecting a big club , this is not the place. They charge a cover at the entrance , around $10-$20,it feels like they do that so they make money even if ppl do not stay longer or walk out soon. Having said that the music is great and fun place to hang out, but wasn't as busy on a Saturday night as we expected at almost 11.30pm so we decided to move on.

Drinks were over-the-top overpriced - even for LES standards. Ended up getting charged $32 for a well drink and the price was not advertised beforehand anywhere. Most bars don't list their prices but most bars also don't charge $32 for a simple well drink. To make it even worse, bartenders were rude. Also had to pay a $10 cover on a Friday evening when the bar was mostly empty. Do not bring your business here!

Drinks were overpriced with built in 20% tip so it was 19 per drink. Music was top 40. Ambiance was ok. 5 dollar cover for ladies. Younger crowd. Venue responded that drinks are not overpriced (see below) and then accused me of not being factual (ie lying) when I listed the actual price of the drink in my review. If patrons read my review and think that 19 is fair, then go for it. It is obvious that what one is willing to pay for a drink is an opinion.

I just hosted a birthday party with a guest list of 100+ people and had a great time with all my friends. The owner, Gabriel, was a pleasure to work with and was accommodative of all my requests. He was also great to work with - responding to every request quickly and being very organized throughout the whole process. Also, the drinks and music were great. Whether hosting an event or showing up on a given night, I cannot recommend this place enough!

Rumpus Room hosted my boyfriends birthday and it was such an amazing night!! Athena was our bartender and was so sweet and accommodating and kept the drinks coming during our open bar!! She helped me plan everything and it took away all the stress— cannot thank her enough! Chai brought out a birthday sign/sparkler/champagne for my boyfriend and he loved it! They were both so so fun! Everyone had such a great time!!! Thank you Rumpus Room❤️

We went here because our morrissey night moved to this location. I like the atmosphere better here and it feels cleaner and more inviting. I've only gone on morrissey night, which doesn't really get busy until very late. Don't know if the other prime nights are busier, but I'd like to check it out sometime. They offer Miller High Life as a decent cheap beer. Good place to go with friends, or just to meet random new people. They will talk to you.

This place is straight garbage. I was with a group of 30+ people and 5 of our phones were stolen out of our purses which were WRAPPED AROUND OUR BODIES. When we informed the employees and bouncers of what happened, they did not try to help us at all. This place is grimy, scummy and attracts a terrible crowd. I highly recommend that you DO NOT GO HERE. And if you do make sure to keep all your valuable belongings in your hands at all times.

Just celebrated my birthday here!!! We had the most amazing night and Gabriel took such good care of us and our group! We didn’t have to stress at all, he made sure everything went extremely smoothly and everyone had the best time! He organized the photo booth for us, complementary bottle of champagne and sparklers, and made sure we even got professional photos of our group too. Would highly recommend doing an event here! We’ll be back!!

Takeaway: Way too noisy, terrible bar service. Expect to wait forever for your drink, dirty glasses everywhere, and spills all over the floors. I would never come back here. If you're looking for a good time, go elsewhere. NYC is filled with bars that offer a better experience. Also, management deciding to correct my grammar in this review instead of taking ownership or maintaining basic hygiene... you're the problem.

Went here for Halloween and had a great time! I had never been before and wasn’t sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a fun spot with great music and a friendly vibe, with the right amount of people where it felt crowded enough but had plenty of space to move around. Even ran into the owner who was taking photos of guests and sent them to us right away. I’d definitely recommend coming here!

$10 (cash only) to get in, drinks were moderate in size and price. Staff were friendly and attentive. Super fun, they play eclectic music you'll actually know and want to dance to. Fun crowd and a great atmosphere. No strict dress code, some people were dressed up and some were dressed comfy and everyone was chill. Stayed until they closed at 4 because we were having such a great time.

Drinks were not very good and VERY expensive. More expensive (and worse, remember) than even at 230 fifth, the kinda touristey rooftop bar we went to. Energy was fine at rumpus but we thought the music was pretty meh... basically only 2000s hip hop. and don't get me wrong, i like 2000s hip hop, but get some variety in there. A disappointment for sure, would not come back.

they charge a cover because anyone who goes in is going to want to leave instantly. this is one of the lamest places in nyc and u can tell from the owners responses to negative reviews. all the positive reviews are fake and they all have the same prompt about “having a great birthday” there. save yourself from having a terrible birthday and avoid this place at all costs.

At rumpus right now and the music is amazing !! Dj.disciple is dope !! His music is good and the staff is amazing and very friendly ! The bartender was a gentleman & very sweet and made sure i was good as far as drinks , the bouncer was very nice & greeting i would definitely recommend the place to all my friends ! Rumpus Room hosted my birthday this past weekend and made it my most special birthday to date!! The staff was incredibly nice and warm towards my friends and I. The owner, Gabe, took pictures of us all night and gave me a free champagne/sparkler/birthday sign. Can’t forget to mention that I got my full deposit back! Greatest time spending my birthday at this bar!!!!

I don’t get the rating this place has, it was pretty lame, terrible atmosphere, small place with 10 dollar cover (they’re not worth $1 cover). On top of that they like to be sneaky with what they are charging, got two drinks and was poured regular tequila but got charged for premium tequila plus 20% gratuity? We left this place after the 5th Drake song in a row.

Rumpus Room is a newly renovated lounge/club with some quirky black statues, velvet circular booths and some spooky art on the walls. It's a fun crowd with young professionals and really awesome bartenders. The ambiance is nice, the drinks are strong and the music is great with live DJ's playing diverse sets. Go with your girlfriends or for a guys night out.

Good tunes. Sick jams. Depeche mode. Clean, well kept environment. Friendly staff. Creative bartender... Decent location, if you're a hipster, but also somewhat off the beaten path. It's also really cool with an 80's vibe and a disco ball with some awesome lights. We went on off hours, Thursday night, and it was pretty awesome.

Had an absolute amazing experience here for my sisters 21st Birthday. Gabriel was so wonderful in helping me plan everything and he went above and beyond to make it special for her! He gave us the best service we could have asked for. Everyone had such a great time. And we will all definitely be coming back again. ☺️

It was my first ever time to visit a club and it was amazing. The people inside are kind and helpful and really cool. The staff is really good with good service. It was so crowdy so people mostly stand there to drink n never leave the counter but dj was good he played some good songs. Overall it's a good experience.

I went into the chat to ask if this club was 18 and over because I was goin to take my son out and surprise him on his bday. Gabriel was the ruddest nastiest troll ever. Bartenders have been super cool each time I came here, which is always a highlight. Not always the best crowd but I do have fun coming here, and I’ve always enjoyed the music and had a good time with friends! The club was fine and played decent music. 2 star rating because I asked the bartender for a shot of tequila and she poured me a shot of simple syrup. I questioned her and she only then poured me a tequila shot with a different bottle from the original. Shots are $13 so be keep an eye on your drinks.

Held my birthday event here for 60 guests and had the most amazing time. Gabriel the owner was very attentive and allowed for the entire night to run smoothly. We had access to the back room with our own bar and photo booth. My guests keep saying how much fun they had! Will definitely visit again.

Everything that's gone wrong with the East Village in 1 room. $10 cover (+ $5 card fee) for a small place playing the most basic music possible. Charged me $12 for two water bottles when I asked for two cups of water. Please close. Bad vibes.

Celebrated my 30th birthday here, and it was absolutely perfect. Intimate venue with friendly staff and great music all night. It is ideal for private parties and events, and we could not get enough of the 'Birthday Cake Shots' from Athena at the bar. Definitely planning on coming back again.

Really lame spot. Just packed. DJ was just running down a playlist. No one dancing. So packed you couldn't move. Can't get drinks. They lie about the cover and charge half of your group $10, then once they're inside insist it's $20. Then threaten you if you complain. Frankly an unsafe venue

As a 20 something year old, it’s kinda difficult to find a place with both good music and dancing scene. I’d say Rumpus nailed the music and DJ, but the night I went with friends, it was definitely packed with people, but no one was dancing really. But a good place to come nevertheless!

Honestly this place sucks. The song selection is only early 2000’s pop. The DJ keeps switching song every 15 seconds. The drinks are highly over priced with minimal alcohol. I’m literally writing this while I’m sitting down at this place lol. Not worth it. Half of the facility is full

Overrated. Too cramped and within 1 hr 3 fights broke out. The security guy was such a sweet heart, but other than that over rated and over priced. $30 for 2 shots is crazy. There are so many other gems in NY, spending your money at this place is a crime. Try other places than this.

my roommate and I had our 24th birthday party here and rented out the VIP space for 70 people. we had the BEST time, sooooo worth the price. Gabriel was so nice and so helpful leading up to the event, no stress at all! highly recommend hosting a private event here, no complaints!!!

Rumpus Room NYC is an amazing venue for all types of parties. The location is amazing and the venue itself is phenomenal! The scenery and artwork scattered throughout the room create a fantastic vibe for all people who want to party. Will definitely be coming back here again!

I haven’t posted a review in a long time but my bad experience compelled me to write one. If you are willing to listen to sub par music (someone just going through a Spotify playlist), pay for overpriced drinks and a tiny cramped dance floor, I highly recommend rumpus room.

Does this location pay for its reviews?! Absolutely abysmal experience. Horrible music, terrible lighting, bad drinks, subpar all around. Was really led astray by the reviews…worst part of all, have to pay a cover to even enter. Easy F as far as dance clubs go

Ugh I thought to just say YUCK but there’s a liiiiiiiiiittle part of me that prays for this place. The bar tenders are sweet and the big door guys are super funny... ugh I hate having a soft spot for this place. But that doesn’t mean I’d EVER go there again.

I booked Rumpus Room for my boyfriends 25th birthday party and had an incredible night. Music was great, the private bartender was awesome, and it was overall a really fun time. I invited about 30 people and thought the back section was perfect for us.

Rumpus is a great all around spot. Exactly what I expected when I came to the city for clubbing. Great music, good drinks, and plenty of space when you need it. Love having a bathroom attendant, makes things very safe.

Senseless money grab. Very small dance floor, can't move around even with 20- 30 people on the main floor. Expensive drinks with automatic 18% tip. Complete waste of time and money.

The staff is friendly and give you recommendations based on what you tell them for alcohol, music is enjoyable, and overall a fun experience. I would definitely come here again!

Rumpus room is the best place I've ever been to! Two suns was playing the night I went and they made Thursdays even thirstier!!!!!

They advertise an eclectic vibe but went on a Friday night and it was really basic radio music and bro-ey vibes.
