Did not meet our expectations. We had to buy the pricey entry fee to be at the bar with a bottle of champagne (a couple's package) ! Initially we thought it was a good deal because we had heard that people get turned away at the door if they don't have a reservation. We were there mainly to see the performances that start at 1:30 a.m. We were the only couple at the bar with a champagne bottle!!! The place filled up by midnight and everyone was buying just their own drinks. We wish we had that option. We were stuck with our champagne that we could hardly finish! But, as I said we had to reserve with that option because wanted to get in and not get turned away at the door. But, then all the others who got in, we wondered how much they paid at the door!!! Because they were young kids wearing t-shirts, with no sense of clothing, did not look wealthy enough to be able to pay an exorbitant entry fee. We looked kinda out of place with our fancy attire! Either way, being at the bar is not always necessarily a bad place to see a show! But, it IS at the Box. Now, let me move on to the performance. Pretty awful and off the wall. I can imagine why they have such acts, because that's the only thing that will call for attention from the drunken crowd. Any good act will be completely ignored! We had a much much higher expectation of this place. But, now we have done it and it was our first and last. We prefer, by any means, Slipper Room in the LES, 100% better than this place. In Slipper Room, you can have the booze and see a really quality variety show, kinky and off the wall and full of talents and you spend nothing close to the couple's package price at the Box! So, I hope you will make a wiser choice for your entertainment, after reading my review. Learn from other's mistakes, that's what I always say!!!

The Box... where do you begin? Similar to other reviews I've read, The Box is the sort of place you have on your Life List. I knew I needed to go, I just don't know if I need to go back. I would never have been able to get in had I not known a promoter. With that being said, I got in past a line and a velvet rope with no problem; major confidence booster. As soon as we entered the club, we had to pass another check-point to get upstairs. We made our way to stage right and were dangling right over the performers. The first act wasn't announced by the MC, so he seemed to have some trouble clearing the stage from drunkards. Once the MC appeared I saw a handful of acts; a woman hanging in a Cirqu-du-soleil type hammock in her panties, a genetic male with implants spurting blood and liquor from his mouth (who later peed on the audience - fake urine I presume), a woman who removed something (a fetus?) from her lady-bits and then bit into it (yes, folks, full frontal), and an impressive magic duo. Honestly, at 25 years old, and someone who thinks of herself as very liberal, I was still shocked at some of the acts. The show doesn't move that quickly, but perhaps if you are drunker than I it does. The venue encourages drugs and drinks, so feel free to do what you wish, carefully. Overall it was a night to remember for sure. The space is small and unique. Go with no expectations and full pockets and you'll have a good time.

I was out with a group of friends for my birthday and thought going to the Box might be a good idea. There were about 10 of us in the group (mixed race - Asian, Latino and black, all educated professionals (ivy-league Phd grads, lawyers, bankers, entrepreneurs etc...) who live and work in NYC). We lined up as directed and when it was our turn, the bouncer eyed the group, pointed at us and said "This is not happening" and shoved us off. We are appalled by the way we were turned away for not apparent reason. There may be reasons why we were turned away - either the club is at its full capacity; some of us are not dressed appropriately, or there is a minimum spend for the group etc... We were not given any explanation but simply bounced. It may not be outright racism but the bouncer's action certainly came across as racist and repugnant. You can turn people away at your club, but you can do so with courtesy and respect. This is especially infuriating when we were ready to drop a couple thousand dollars. This is 2019 in New York City, let's recognize this wildly disrespectful behavior that is pervasive among bouncers at these "popular" establishments in the city and do something about it - Behavior like this needs to be called out and condemned. As customers, we should not have to accept that bouncers have the right to treat you poorly. As a matter a fact, no one should be treated with such disrespect, period.

One of the black male bouncers at the door (not sure his name, maybe around early 40s, very short haircut) was EXTREMELY rude to me the second I walked up. He just stood there staring me down, glaring at me, saying nothing...so that thoroughly confused me and then I asked him, "Do you work here?" He got really mad and responded, "Are you serious?!" In a very mean disrespectful tone. He didn't try to help me and seemed like he couldn't spare a minute to talk to me when he was just standing there. (Being from a very friendly liberal city in the south, I was not used to a worker not greeting customers and asking what he could help with, so despite his uniform it was hard for me to comprehend he was actually working - that's why I stood there in disbelief and politely asked him if he worked there.) I had a private invitation, was put on the guest list, and well-dressed. I had to go through numerous employees in order to finally get myself and my two guests in despite being on the private list. It was extremely crowded and impossible to see the show. People were standing on the sofa blocking the view completely. Most of the time was spent on "intermission" and barely any spent on actual performance. Staff needs customer service training ASAP. Some of them are terrible people, ruining the entire experience.

The place itself was very unique. Cabaret show was entertaining and a little racy. Found the place to be way to warm and was sweating towards the end. Unfortunately, the reason why I gave this place such a low rating is that they scam you big time for drinks. Ordered 2 vodka sodas for my friend and I from the bar upstairs. Was expecting speed rack liquor since that was what I asked for...wasn't paying attention and noticed she was pouring Belvedere vodka into the 2nd drink...probably the highest premium they sell. I said whatever, how much more could it be...ahhh how wrong I was...19$ per drink! Ok fine, it's NYC and some places can charge these ridiculous amounts. problem was, when I gave my credit card and received the bill, it looked like every other standard check I've ever gotten. Found out the next day, they AUTOMATICALLY add 20% to your drink tab!! And the normal line for tips says, "additional tip"!! Normally I would see this, but they keep this place so dark, you don't see it! So I ended up tipping an additional 2$ and ended up tipping her almost 10$ and spent 46$ for 2 vodka sodas...total scam!! My advice...buy beer...they were only 7$, and pay cash!!

The short bald man running the door needs to be fired immediately. When we first arrived in line I heard him tell one of his employees that he should go jump off the roof of the building. Next he looks over at us, points at me (white looking male) goes ok I like you, then points at the rest of the guests I’m with and does that very condescending and disrespectful wagging of his hand as to say they weren’t good enough (mind you in with 3 beautiful woman and a young Asian man, all dressed up very nice, ready to join our Table inside). After these two appalling behaviors, I blurted out the question “do you work the door or are you just a drunk club goer trying to mess with us?” He immediately goes into the most ridiculous powertrip saying that I ruined it for all of us, that he wasn’t drunk (which he clearly was) and goes to run inside when I tried to confront him about his absurd behavior. I feel the worst for his cronies, who saw exactly what happened but were forced to insist that we were being disrespectful, when it was clearly the other way around. Until he’s gone, avoid this place at all costs.

Awful place! I came with my friend who is from the UK and they asked for ID for which she showed her UK driving licence. The host guys at the entrance Did Not Know how to read a UK ID and kept asking her to provide ID for which she was trying to explain that that was a driving licence. The hosts were extremely rude and dismissive asking her to leave. Funnily enough a girl before us showed them a digital version of her passport (on her phone) and they let her in; when my friend asked to provide a digital copy of her passport they said no dismissively - to this I asked why that was not possible if the girl before did it and one of the guys responded 'this is different by case'. I want to mention that I did get in with a US driving licence which happily they managed to read but had to then leave as I couldn't let my friend out. This is the worst place I ever went to and for the 'exclusive' standard that they advertise for their club they should hire Professionals and not any rude and ignorants. Terrible, I couldn't care less about the show since this is the welcome that I received.

  • Mikal Din

i was there last night and the downstairs female bartender was dissmissive and obnoxious and did not make very good nor strong drinks. She totally ignored me and my friend at the bar and, treating us as if we were invisible and only responded when i got a bit rude and yelled and thats when she acted rude back. At that point I advised her to close the check because I dont suffer rudeness. NOT AT THESE PRICES!!! She dismissivly put the check on the bar , still being passively aggresivly rude and i didnt understand how someone working for tips could act this way until I looked at the check and gratuity was included. I dont use the word RASCIST with any degree of frequency but that situation bore a mighty strong resemblence. I WIll not be frequenting nor recommending that venue to anyone and when THE BOX is mentioned I will tell this very strong and discourage anyone from attending. Im not the kindve person who holds grudges but that female bartender needs to be checked.

Incredibly rude staff- we were told to wait in a line and did so for over 20 minutes. A friend politely asked when the doors would open and the guy in front pretended not to hear her. It was so awkward other people were nervously laughing in line. It was the very first time someone asked him a questions and his response was so hostile and rude, so petulant and really inappropriate. Once inside it became clear the whole staff all had the same attitude problem. I just cannot understand businesses where exclusivity is confused with hostility towards people trying to hang out at their place. We all arrived at the bar excited for a really fun night and they just took the entire night down and kinda ruined the whole night . We just went to a place across the street and had drinks and tried to joke about it but what a buzzkill. You guys really need to work on your attitude. This bar is just really trashy.

I have been wanting to experience the box for a while now so going in today was super exciting for me until I got there. They dismissed my passport because it was a older picture of me (which I completely understand) but what really dumbfounded me was when “thai” came out and told the man that was vouching for me that he was not allowed in because he was vouching for us... that literally doesn’t make sense, especially because they let me in!!! This whole experience has left me super confused and I definitely don’t want to go back, considering the awful customer service from Thai. If you’re not letting someone in, at least give them a valid reason instead of feeling entitled just because you work there. Sad, because I’ve heard so many great things about the box but I didn’t want to stay there after seeing another customer being treated so poorly.

This place tries really hard to be trendy and new but fails drastically and the management is horrible. They had problems with their credit card machines and accused me of not having sufficient funds to settle the bill. They put a bouncer on my back and kept my drivers licence. I had to go to an atm and withdraw the money. Later the manager Nenad tried to apologize After he realized that all mastercards were not working in his establishment he even confessed to me saying that he didnt know what he was going to do.....but the harm and shame i went through was already done. I will never go back. Very disrespectful. Stay away if you want to keep your dignity. All they care about is getting their share. About the show?? Who wants to watch another man taking a dump in the middle of the show??? Literally!! I left early!

  • Nicole Alfonso

Reserved a booth for our group approximately a week prior to going, so our night out was definitely planned. Service was absolutely horrible as was the booth given. Booth had dried vomit spread out on the base of the sill and reeked, for a supposed "fully sold night out" we were given a booth with dried vomit? Server and the rest of management were dismissive and negligent of our concerns and requests--completely, ludicrously undeserving of the thousands of dollars they have charged our group with. They had also double charged our group for an unwarranted transaction. Completely egregious and unprofessional behavior. There are better places to go spend a night in NYC. Do not ruin any of yours here.

Very interesting spot. I usually have a fun time... bar is always great service.. shows were very entertaining... HOWEVER, the door is extremely pretentious... I tried going recently without my usual friend who gets me in... and they essentially treated me and my party like we were diseased. It was embarrassing to say the least.. to have them lie to our face and say it was full but then proceeded let in at least 10-12 people while we stood there in the freezing cold. Not sure I'll be back... I'm not a newbie, I know you have to be in the cool crowd to get in anywhere... but have the decency to say "hey look if you don't have a connection or a reservation, you wont be getting in" don't make us stand there in the freezing cold.

  • Alyx Flournoy

I wish I could give a review about the inside of this place, but unfortunately we never got in. Waited over 30 minutes on a night where it was completely DEAD inside. We even asked the bouncers about how long it would take to get in, first they said it would be an "undetermined" amount of time because we didn't have a reservation. Later, they told us we just needed to be okay with waiting and we might never get in. Then, they offered to let us in if we paid $500 for a bottle. Not table service, but just for 1 bottle. The line was over 25 people long - it was clear they were just looking for status and a crowd. I would never try to go here again!

  • Chris Ross

"Small and cramped, but fun and lively" That's how I'd describe The Box, home to good enough cocktails and live music. The bar area is pretty cramped and the layout is like a railroad style apartment. The biggest issue is the transition area between the bar and the stage -- it's literally the size of a small doorway. Yea, imagine the cramp, it's insane! I'll never understand the hype around this place, it's like waiting to get into the book boom room. Money talks and unless you are getting bottle service, the only other real reliable way to get in is knowing someone at the door. I'd recommend trying to go at least once... And then never again.

  • Nigel Lake

Rude and uninspiring - stay away! Well, the comments about rude and peremptory service are born out by my own experience tonight. Indeed I was almost put off by other reviews in thre first place. So. I swung by "The Box" for an afterparty hosted by a friend The staff on the door were so rude that I decided to call it quits and head home. A really disappointing end to an otherwise great evening. Life is too short for lack of service, especially when there are so many other clubs and bars offering much more. Listen to all the others on here who've said the same - go somewhere else. Or home!

  • Kayla Peterson

The men at the door at very rude and disrespectful. I simply asked what the fee to enter the club would be and the man looked at me and said 5k then shortly later changed it to 12k. The guy had no manners at all. I would’ve been willing to make a RSVP for a different day, but not now based on the way the men disrespected me. They are so stuck up and obviously do not enjoy working there or their lives are miserable enough. LMFAO!! By the way, I don't normally write reviews but I had to this time to warn others about this place. It’s not worth it. Don’t waste your time or money.

  • Ben Weiss

Very rude and obnoxious staff! Can let you wait in the cold for hours, while knowing the whole time they ain't planning on letting you in. We were just 2 guys, (minorities) dressed normal, not drunk. They didn't even bother bs'ing us "it's for reservations only" . Not even the decency of telling us outright we're not welcome. No, they just kept us waiting and waiting, skipping over us on the line to let others in, using us as a prop, it should seem from the street lika "major party" . Giza. Not cool. Save your time and money and go to "The slipper room" or "Nurse Betty"

  • Andrea Huhndorf

The Box has a great venue and great customer service. It does however lack Burlesque. Naked is not Burlesque! The "show", which by the way had an amazingly talented MC, first set lasted all of 15 minutes, and then it became an anything goes club for the next hour. Plus the whole idea of booking a table with a one bottle minimum, is to have exclusivity, privilege. What I got was my table blocked in, and I was stepped on by a intoxicated neighbor. All for over $2000.00. This could be an amazing place, and some probably think it is, but it is not Burlesque.

  • Jamie Legg

Bouncers and the promoter are total douches. I waited outside with my husband and a girlfriend for over an hour. When I finally tried to find out why they weren't letting us in, the promoter was dismissive and smug, and ignored me. I had been chatting with some French girls outside, and when I called attention to the bouncer that they had also been waiting a while, he brought the girls inside and kept us waiting. We finally decided to leave. I couldn't stand such blatant disrespect, especially when we were so patient and willing potential customers.

  • Jonathan McKenna

TL;DR: AVOID. There are way better burlesque shows (see: Slipper Room). The staff here is impolite, disinterested, impressed with themselves and decidedly rude. They force you to stand in a line for standing in a line's sake ("look how popular we are!"), and while I (needlessly) waited to get in, I watched a bouncer in a tux (how fancy!) repeatedly manhandle both men and women for no reason. Once I was in (and months older), the show was mediocre at best. What a joke of a "sexy night out". Don't waste your time or discretionary income. AVOID.

  • Ken Ostrovsky

Overpriced and amateurish. I am not sure how they are able to survive in NYC given the level of competition. Perhaps, the acts were better back in the day and they are still riding the wave. I think if you were to pull 10 random people off the street and give them an hour to come up with four “sexy” cabaret acts you would get better quality performances than what the box currently puts up. If you want to see a proper burlesque show there is a place at Jefferson st station in Bushwick.

A cool exclusive lounge that will make you feel almost VIP if you are lucky enough to get in. The best way to get in is to know someone or to throw some $ at the bouncer. Once you're in, you'll be hit by the music that will carry you away onto the dance floor. Not a surprise that the place is overpriced and over rated, but the exclusivity still attracts many including some celebs. On big nights, dancers will light up the crowd and it will get pretty packed, but have no fear, there's always enough room to dance.

  • Courtney Anne

Staff was nice but the performances were genuinely lack luster. If you don’t know someone like I did, you aren’t getting in, just being honest. Crazy enough, I wish they were stricter in their occupancy limit bc the layout makes it impossible for a crowd to safely manage. They should sell exactly 200 tickets a night and that’s it. Any more people it’s literally dangerous for the crowding. That’d take care of the line issue too

This is a very interesting cabaret style bar. You basically have a two floor bar with a main stage on the first floor which you can see from parts of ur 1st and 2nd floor. The shows here are not for the faint of heart with a ton of nudity and coarse subject matters def not suitable for minors or those who are easily offended.. I personally had a great time and would def say this is a must visit if ur in NYC... Sleep No More, is the other must see show imo.

  • Ashley Hendrix

Had an amazing time at The Box. The dancing, the energy, the entertainment- A1! If someone were to say "I went to the club" when referring to The Box, then they said it wrong... I had an experience! I am not from New York, but when I go back home there wouldn't be a way to explain it other than get your ass on a plane ✈️ and go! Totally worth the hangover I have and this IV drip from the hangover doctor

  • Maile Hays

2 words: "shock" & "awe"! As a regular patron over the past year, I can honestly say the Box never fails to deliver either. I've regularly brought friends & coworkers just to watch their faces go through a rainbow of expressions as they marvel at the talent on display. Of course my favorite performers will always be the aerialists; I never tire of their strength & elegance. Fyi: This place totally rocks! <3

  • Olivia Ryan

The black bouncer with glasses is on a high horse and a someone needs to humble him. He was very disrespectful to me almost as if it was bc I was a black woman and referred to me as a reject for attempting to get into this club two nights in a row. I was just on vacation and not from here trying to have a good time! Wont be returning!

Why would Anyone give a business one star because they can’t do more than google(Millennials). There were social media outlets that indicated this business has indeed been closed since COVID-along with every other dance/club bar venue in NYC. In any event: What a beautifully designed space that reminds me of what this great city is all about. ☮️☮️☮️

  • Alice Breding

I thought that the place was wonderful. I was with someone who wasn't all dressed up. I was dressed nicely for a cocktail party. We got in within 10 minutes. I made my way all the way to the front and met some amazing people. The show was wonderful. The guests were amazing and the staff was average and normal for what I've grown to expect in NYC for the most part.

  • Danny Mann

This was one of the most unique nights out I've had in a long time. The performances on stage were all original and sexy (or weird depending on your disposition). The service was on point and made sure everyone was properly seated during performances so that we could see the stage clearly. The space was intimate and had a speakeasy feel to it.

  • April Q

I’ve been to many bars in ny but the box is one of a kind! If you like to experience or surprise your friend to some exotic, eye-opening late night performance, this is the place to be. No spoilers here but all I can say is it takes some to create what they put on the stage. And no photos allowed-pay your respect and don’t get kicked out :)

  • Pat Menez

Too cool for school Food no so ok Tables expensive and everyone is pushing you and in your table. For that prices no no no. If you can get in as a walk in worse you can’t breath, move around and wait forever for a extremely expensive drink. Not worth it.

Interesting place, very similar to house of yes but with a different crowd. A little bit more upscale (maybe too much). Recommend getting there much earlier than the show starts to make to a good spot to see the show. Also keep in mind a long line, where the staff lets in pretty girls before other groups.

  • Hannah C

An eccentric spot in the city with shows you can't find anywhere else. It starts late though, 1am, 2am etc so if you're an early bird you might want to grab some coffee. They try and keep an edgy crowd in the front to balance out all the wealthy white bankers who get tables with bottle service.‍♀️ …

  • Michael Sumbs

this might be my least favorite place in NYC. the patrons are low class and trashtastic. the door guys are RUDE. even for NYC. c'mon guys this isnt soho house the food was so so at best. and the girls on stage didn't make it taste any better. avoid the box if youre looking for any real fun whatsoever.

  • Omri Haim

Poor attitude in the entrance. Made people wait in line for an hour, with the selector busy picking up a girl. A huge amount of people, including beautiful girls, have in and went to different place instead. I recommend people to go to a better place as their time is too precious for waiting on them.

  • Kalle Westerling

This place is (allegedly) not what it used to be. Run over by white, rich folks who pay excessive amounts of money for table service ($1,000+) just to show off. The variety entertainment is amazing, however. Showtime is around 1am every night, and the quality of the performers is just incredible.

  • Sam T

Don’t leave New York City without visiting this ensemble of a joint. The doorman will make you feel like you’re in another country with his boorish attitude but once you enter the fun pops off and so might your clothes. Enjoy the performances and be sure to mingle with the crowd!!

  • They Love My Splash

I like the old school fashion decor this a great space to enjoy date night. On the upper level there are tables set for 2 people and if you want further privacy you have the option of closing the curtain. The shpws are very eccentric, creative and one to experience at least once.

  • Wall Fish

Quite an evening to be had here! The team does a great job here, bouncers/staff/managers - everything ran smoothly and they really put on a show. Definitely have to cross this off the NYC night out bucket list at least once!

Great organizer manager Geezer Met me at the door Very accommodating I walked through the place was amazingly archetevually beautiful. . The show was interesting the bartender sge was professional and experience .. I enjoyed a newly experienced place I'll be bavk with friends

  • Andrea Fjeld

Can I afford it? No. Did I enjoy it? Of course! The place is overly hyped, but the show is definitely a spectacle. My first time I asked the waitress, "Can they really smoke in here?" Her response: "I don't care if they do lines off the table." I was new to New York.

  • Neil Simmons

Total pretentious trash. Got to the door just after opening to find a small crowd, waited around to be shouted at by the bouncer, and then finally told that only bottle service was available for $$$$. I thought that this was a serious theatre, but it is total trash!

  • Wayne Lin

Rude door staff. After waiting with minimal acknowledgement we were offered a table with bottles starting at $700 USD. I get that's it's NYC but being polite costs nothing. Maybe go for a meal at Eleven Madison park and see what customer service really looks like.

  • Derek Martin

I dress in late 1800s suits so I never have a problem getting in (plus, I know a few people that work there)..I hear the cover is usually high. Girls usually have no problem, especially if they are dressed sultry.. but guys, break out your wallet...

  • Eli Happy

Unfairly and rudely dealt with! Was there Thursday night waiting online to get in, they had no rules of first come first serve. We were skipped over a whole night and they did Not even say why we are kept in the cold waiting. Rude rude Bouncer!

  • A

Go here if you want to have the worst time of your life lol. I went inside expecting a really cool, fun time and the place was filled with 18 year old children dancing to S Club 7 and T pain. Enter at your own risk haha - so embarrassingly bad

  • Julia Saluck

The bouncers are sad sack wannabes who are rude to people solely to make themselves feel better. A true power trip for them. Even though the acts are cool this place isn’t worth your time. Better off going somewhere with actual cool people.

  • Olivier LA

Clearly - definitively - ridiculously overpriced. Regarding the couple of absurd disgusting performances: I get it, "it's original", but why do you conclude the show with that?! It leaves a real bad aftertaste. Finish with something nicer!

  • John Os

This club is unique in NYC. The club requires you to have good manners. In order to get inside you have to dress to impress. The shows are amazing and very surprising. People are nice and very sweet if you know how to interact with them.

  • Liezel Oosthuizen

Arrived at 11:50 and while we the first three girls in line, we waited 30 minutes without getting let in so we had to leave. If you have time to waste, feel free to stand in line otherwise best to drop money on a reservation for a table.

  • Ziad Iskandar

Glad to have been once, however that proved enough. The music was good and the show was a mix of talent and cringe inflicting moments. Lucky to have been invited as a guest otherwise $$$$$$. If you get the chance go to tick that box.

  • Tom Carpino

This place is not for the light hearted. (If you're able to get in, that is). The only way you can easily get in is if you know someone or are someone important. Though, the entertainment is out of this world. Crazy expensive though.

  • Fabiola Jean-Louis

Absolutely fantastic! If you want authentic burlesque, and a beautiful & mysterious environment - The Box is all of that and more. Go dressed with style, because entry at the front is more like Studio 54. I can't wait to go back!

  • Maryte Alvarez

Very bad night club the workers not have education I coming to miami florida and I make a reservation for a month before wen I there not have the correct table HORRIBLE NOT COMING TO THIS PLACE BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD

One of the best, popular, decadent nightclubs in NYC. It's #tuesdaynightatthebox party looks to be one of it's most popular and legendary nights. Very hard to get In due to VIP doorman (feel free to contact me for assistance).

This is coming from a New Yorker. This place is trash .You’re better off literally going 300 feet next door to outer heaven .You’ll actually go in and have a good night .If you’re depressed and want to end it , you come here .

  • Amy J

EXTREMELY RUDE ARROGANT DOORMAN! I can't believe the way they interact with their customers! Truly despicable. And very overrated place trying to be something it's not.

I was treated so badly by a bouncer by the name of Denis. I wanted to buy a bottle tonight, yet he turned me down because I asked about the age group of the club. I am in my late 20s!!! How can someone act this rude?!!!

  • Marina Papadimitriou

Theatre Club of NYC varieties which worths to visit at least once! Dont get stressed of the doorman, just be confident and classy ;) Get well dressed and enjoy unique cabaret perfomances while dancing all night long...

  • Ximeng Zhu

Terrible host who just let people in randomly regardless of line. Forget about this place they called out my friend’s shorts and then let other people wearing shorts in. Stupid bougie place that is full of themselves

  • Michael Collins

Had an amazing time at The Box. Great atmosphere, like if Studio 54 and Westworld had a baby with David Bowie and Mick Jagger. Great bartenders and performers. Highly recommend for groups of open minded friends.

  • Jack Barnheider

Staff is openly disrespectful. "Giza" specifically is the worst. The place was dead with no one else in line and he refused to admit us. A group of doctors. 3 guys and 2 girls on a Wednesday night. Pathetic.

  • Felix Cadieu

Fun place with potential, better during the week to avoid the weekend rich kid finance crowds. Coktails are ok, but not good enough for the price (can be rushed if they are backed up) The shows are worth it

  • Nyima CHAMpion

Different and unique burlesque show at the Box. Not what I thought it would be. And a big surprise on the second act that made me cringe xD a place that needs to be visited when you're in New York for sure!

  • Richard Alagoa

Great show and even more interesting crowd. Stephanie the aerial artist was the best part of the show. She danced in the air with Kanye West's Fade playing in the background and the whole show was HOT!!!

  • Anant Vinjamoori

Unlike anything else you've ever experienced, and likely will ever experience again. Take heed of the other reviews and decide for yourself if you're up to it. One of the toughest doors to crack in NYC.

  • Matthew Gold

Wild place, extremely difficult to get in and incredibly expensive, has a sexual variety show different from any other NYC venue. Don't sit in front of the stage if you don't want to risk getting messy.

  • Sherlyn Boyce

Kayla is amazing with customer serve, she let us know all the options and went in with the sweetest smile, if you visit this place please see her!

You are not actually allowed to take pics inside, so... The place is great, people are fun and the shows are incredible - loved the concept. Definitely not the usual club! Will def go again if in NY

  • The Corcoran Group

Once you've gotten past the doorman (with a reservation or a little creativity) you'll be treated to some of the most entertaining, and unbelievably naughty acts. Dressing up is highly encouraged!

  • Milan Petrovic

Worst experience ever! They stole cash inside of my bag on the coat check! They open everything inside of my bad!!! I will never recommend this place! They should be ashamed! You can’t trust them

  • cl ci

to ilili box since that's where I've headed the first few times I've been. I get the chicken over rice box as well as the Phonecian fries. I'm very much a sauce person - for those of… read more

Hate that you get a table and they take the shots away when you are not looking. The head security guard was the best! Show, DJ and the MC were awesome.

Went for a work event so the performances were very tame. But it was so fun. The host was amazing and had a great voice. The venue itself is cool with lots of little corners to sit

  • Sidalia Aguilar

You just have to experience it for yourself. Been a couple of times and each time is a whole new experience. The bouncers can be hit or miss, but it’s worth the trouble to get in!

  • sandy aldrich

The show is great and there's nothing to compare it to in nyc.. It has a sister location in London but I haven't been. If you can get in the box is the experience of a lifetime

  • Patrice C

Much smaller space than I expected, definitely not for larger groups. Drinks were a bit overpriced for the quality. Definitely Megaclub elements but in a small cabaret setting.

  • Breanna Thomas

Was there last night & had a great time until the end of the night when I found out someone stole my jacket. No one in the place acted like they cared which pissed me off.

  • Joel Rudzinski

The venue is cool (albeit very dark) and the performances were amazing. Drinks are a little expensive, but it's a great time. Go with a group and get a table if you can.

  • Zachary K

I hate pretentious clubs who don't let people in. Just saw everyone get in except my group. Never coming back

We were for the first time on New York and we were rejected when we were two, it's unacceptable, it's really a bad place to go out again with bouncers not smart

  • Attila Vidra

We tried to enter very first time from Europe but we were declined without a reasonable explanation.

Rude staff that behaves like customers need them. Save your time and money and go elsewhere where you are appreciated and respected as a paying customer.

  • sam lee

Over-rated, over-priced, overcrowded. I guess the girls get excited from a stupid show, if you want to party go to a regular club don't wast your money

  • Jonah Goldman

Nothing I can write in this review will accurately capture the experience I had at the box. Really all I can say is you need to see it to believe it.

  • Siobhán Ortiz

They should call it the hot box lol it’s so crowded you can’t move this place is garbage.

  • Gada “Gotcha”

Fun place, everyone is super cool and chill no drama. Great show and vibes. We love juan the bouncer. True class act …

  • Jon Arnold

Probably one of the coolest places in Manhattan even after all these years. Good luck getting in though. No photography is allowed.

  • Viviana Rubino

The decorations is really lowbrow, the show was resulting too aggressive to me...the Dj wasnt bad.... I had much more expectation..

  • Lachlan Knowles

You guys should make sure on the website that your closing times are correct, just ruined 6 people’s nights. Thanks for nothing

  • Lorenzo Curti

The manager at the door is not able to do his work and talk with a certain type of customers that the place would like to have.

  • DroneFanatic

Is this place open?! I thought I heard music playing the other night when I walked by. It gets 5 stars for possibly being open.
