My husband was medivac’d to Rush from Guatemala with heart failure, a heart attack, kidney failure, & diabetes. Diabetes care-nonexistent- they believe 250 is okay. It screwed up my husband’s A1c and did not help his kidneys. They also had him on the wrong diet for the first three days despite copious records from Hospital Universitario Esperanza’s doctor, Edward Lopez, who had gotten his degree from the Cleveland Clinic and saved my husband’s life after his heart attack. Dietitians often brought the wrong meal. Even after correcting the menu slip-up. They did not count carbs, and insulin admin was hit or miss-usually miss. Cardiology- they knew what neeeed to be done, and they were aware of the problems with an angiogram or angioplasty. They tri d a beta blocker, and he nearly died, but the very next day they put in a pacemaker/defibrillator, which I believ kept him alive until he could have stints put in. For that I am grateful. They did do an angiogram and found extreme blockage, but decided to aim for perfection and heart bypass surgery. After 3 weeks in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit, we were sent home to “get a second opinion” (basically to die). As we left (literally), the head Cardiologist that week said that stints might be an option. The surgery team refused to do bypass surgery because of the downstream blockage. We went to Northwestern hospital for he second opinion. They concurred about no bypass surgery, but their cardiac interventionist thought stints might be possible. Our new cardiologist, Dr. Mark Ottolin, had worked miracles for us and gotten us in early to see Dr. Ricciardi. Kidneys-Our new nephrologist, Dr. Rasa Kedainis, noted that Rush had prescribed two drugs that were contraindicated and took my husband off of them. She worked with Dr. Ricciardi, and they were going to do pre-emptive dialysis, but pneumonia intervened. Thankfully. We rushed my husband to Edwards Hospital, and Dr. Ottolin orchestrated everything. Within a week, the pneumonia cleared, and Dr. Ulrich Luft was able to put in 3 stints. Without dialysis. My husband’s creatinine level has gone down from 4.3 to 2.7 so far. Edwards also kept his diabetes under control. I can’t say enough about how good Edward Hospital was when compared to Rush University.
I was picking up someone that had orthopaedic surgery. Drop off was easy because it was before 8a. So it was basically pull up and drop off. Picking up though I had to keep circling because she was not downstairs yet. It was hard because Valet had cars here and there and there were the medical buses also parked. I was told to watch as I circled till I saw her. It was hard to see inside. So finally I want down the block and called her to let me know when she was downstairs. Well just then she was. So I double back a little and she knew I was coming so she watched for my car. They brought her right out and told the gentleman directing traffic that I was her ride. They let me stop and helped her into the car and on our way we went. It was not as bad as I thought it would be but if I ever have to do it again I know a btter way to pick the person up. You let them know your on your way and when they are downstairs they call and then watch for your car. Stay safe everyone!!
This has to be the worst health care facility that I have ever used services from. The doctors that I worked with were great. But when it Came to being open and honest about cost and payments this is where they fell short. Before most of my appointments I asked how much would they cost. I got a different answer completely from what was billed to me. They coded one of my appointments wrong resulting in my insurance no longer covering it. When I tried to fight it and have them re-code it so that it will be covered with my insurance, they gave me a letter saying that they cannot do so. The amounts that they charged me are so off-base from what they told me that I will never go there again. I’ve had three separate appointments to where this has happened. If you decide to use this facility please make sure you get documentation about how much your visit will be before you leave. And do be surprised if they charge you triple what they told you.
I cannot say enough great things about the “RUSH” experience. The employees at this facility are amazing humans and always make us feel welcome and comfortable. This opinion comes from years of experiences over the last 19 years. There is a reason that we drive past many facilities to get to this very capable medical institution. The communication between the patients and Drs are Barr none the best we have ever experienced. They care for you and your family here and it shows with every one we come across. No wonder they are now ranked #1 in the nation for Quality. They are also Joint Commission accreted and this matters! Trust me. Update: Another successful surgery by the RUSH team. Wonderful bedside manners by the nurses, anesthesiologist and surgeons. They made you feel like you matter from registration to the end. 2/19/21 : I had great care from start to finish for my recent sinus surgery.
A wonderful experience everyone was very gracious I'm going through something that a lot of people don't want to go through but they have made it extraordinarily wonderful to go through it can ask for better oncology team pathology team nursing staff everyone is just made me feel so special and I think God everyday for them I look forward to my healing process I walking into a Victorious 2021 I especially want to thank the nurses team everywhere from Donna Ashley Kelly even all the way down to the EVS service that I was provided for me they make coming into the new year so much easier I was brought in on the 23rd of December released on the 31st I never missed the fact that it was the holiday season I look forward to the process that I have to go through to get my tumor out but I know I'm in the most capable hands I can be in
Dr. Batra and his team have been a blessing to me. I have had 2 previous sinus surgeries at a different hospital and I felt much, much worse afterwards. I keep telling my loved ones how amazing my Rush experience has been. Obviously, I wasn't awake when they did it, but I don't know how they were able to make it feel as if they were "gentle" while clearing out bone and such. I'm in disbelief that I can feel so close to normal immediately after a surgery. I'm also extremely grateful that Rush has been so successful at helping my aunt overcome cancer throughout this last year. I would definitely recommend Rush University Medical Center to anyone who needs expert care. I keep wanting to cry happy tears because of how wonderful everything has been and how pleasant everyone was to me.
My family took me to the Rush Emergency on Sunday morning by 11.30am for my Urine blockage issue from which I had been struggling from excruciating pain for about 10hrs. It took more than 4 hours before they took me to an examination room. I need to admit from that point onwards, it was absolutely amazing experience until I was discharged on Wednesday evening! If you ask me if I would go there again, my answer will be an empatic YES! Hope they could reduce the waiting time at the Emergency!!
After being here yesterday unable to breath chest pain, not sure what was wrong. Getting tested for covid-19. Feeling relieved when the doctor told me the results were negative. The nurses and doctors were beyond helpful and humble. I'm beyond grateful to be home. To the Nurses, doctors and first responders I cannot begin to thank you for your service.
Best hospital I've ever been to. That includes Northwestern. The staff is professional and not stuck up. I feel more like I'm in a Hyatt than a hospital. I had emergency surgery on my eye there once. Dr. Brown saved my eye. Ppl from all around the country come to Rush to see him. Go to Rush!
Awesome hospital / awesome staff..i couldn't remember all their names but my family member was on the 11th floor ICU n everyone i came in contact with from surgeon (all docs) had great bedside manners to the cleaning crew were amazing / nice n professional! ☺
Most NPA's were really into their assignments, a couple were just going through the motions, with no bedside manners. Those that take their program seriously will go far in the field. Saturday's experience was different than Fridays. Over all ❤.
Very clean and staff are very polite and they go above and beyond to make you comfortable and always look for answers won't stop till they do find the answers, I wouldn't go anywhere else if I can help it. Best team I ever known.
If you need to go to a hospital, you're fortunate if you're going to Rush - very good medical care, provided by the wonderful people working there (from doctors & nurses to the assistants that push you in a wheelchair).
I've been a patient of Rush for over 15 years and the care and respect that I received made me want to work here. Been employed with them for over 8 years. Great place for healthcare and employment!
With all of the procedures I have had at Rush. They are outstanding and professional. I still have one left and have the utmost confidence the doctors will handle this with the. Best possible care.
The best hospital that I've been to in the City of Chicago take care they are concerned they are concerned And I felt like the nurses treated me like I was wanted their own family that was sick
Amazing doctors and staff. Rush doctors are caring and really do listen and work alongside the patient. My primary physician is excellent and the nurse and staff are always ready to assist.
The doctors and nurses are truly the best. My Doctor and his nurses treat me like a person, and really hunt for ways to help me. Rush is always clean and orderly.
Very friendly knowledgeable and courteous a little too good looking made the rest of us look bad. The bar of Excellence which Rush always shows. Thank you Jeff
