"Last Friday I met a friend at Ryan's at about 3pm"
"once my favourite place to have drink"
"Food was average, place was dirty"
"People spewing all over the floor, bar staff not acknowledging our existence skipping us for others who are younger or more attractive, almost impossible ability obtaining drinks"
"So many people on Fridays that the line at the bar goes forever and apparently takes 10 to 15 min to change a beer keg"
Last Friday I met a friend at Ryan's at about 3pm. She happened to have her toddler daughter In a pram with her. We were sitting far from the bar and at the next table was a couple with a baby. Everything was fine until after 5 o'clock when the place started to fill up. A young manager TOLD US TO LEAVE BECAUSE CHILDREN WERE NOT ALLOWED. So why was it ok from 3pm to 5pm - but not after 5pm. There is no law that allows kids before 5pm and another that bans them after 5pm. The reality is, babies and small children are allowed in pubs and clubs as long as they are in the control of an adult. My friend's daughter was in her control, well-behaved and in a pram. Yet we were told to leave on the spot - WE WERE NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO FINISH OUR DRINKS AND WE HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG!! We planned to leave anyway after finishing our drinks.and there was no need to throw us out. If the child"'s presence was making the management nervous - none of the other patrons seemed to mind, in fact one couple thought it was quite unreasonable - all they needed to do was to explain, ask us politely to keep my friend's toddler under control In the pram or on her lap and let us least finish our drinks!!
once my favourite place to have drink. Great open area to enjoy the great Sydney weather. Staff were very friendly and made the effort to get to know their patrons. Unfortunately this is no longer the case. The girls behind the bar all have attitude. talk to you like as if you owe them something. To top it off I see one girl sitting there after her shift getting intoxicated and carrying on with the men at the venue. Not a good look and it shows how far they have fallen. Poor class. I would recommend Opera bar which hosts even better views.
Food was average, place was dirty. Staff in the bar needs more training. Management should teach their staff in the bar to acknowledge the waiting customers instead of pretending not to see anyone waiting (at least tell customers that "I see you but I'll get back to you after finishing pouring these drinks"). Suggest to at least keep the place clean, customers won't bother keeping it clean if they see that the restaurant itself doesn't care about cleanliness (stool chairs are stained with drinks or food and rat poop on the table)
People spewing all over the floor, bar staff not acknowledging our existence skipping us for others who are younger or more attractive, almost impossible ability obtaining drinks..... My time at Ryan's bar was terrible.... For the benefit of everyone build another bar... Jesus Christ... Honestly experienced garbage here and wish I never stepped foot into Ryans bar..the Guzman and Gomez was the real MVP here located right next door... They provided us great service and even provided us with drinks without any stress!.
So many people on Fridays that the line at the bar goes forever and apparently takes 10 to 15 min to change a beer keg. I was asked by a security "boy" how much did I drink just outside the toilets. I thought it was funny cause it was my second one. "That didn't answer my question!", he said and he "escorted" me outside. "Which way?" I asked. "Whatever man!". So we had to move a group of people to a venue where I didn't have too much to drink apparently. 18 years old with the superhero syndrome. Good job Ryan's bar
Food was great but on a Friday lunchtime in the CBD I waited over 45 minutes for a steak sandwich, my colleagues who ordered a chicken parmigiana waited 1 whole hour for their order to arrive. No one at the front bar told us of this extended wait which would have been the correct things to do. As a result of the wait they had to take their lunch away in a takeaway container ruining the experience. Avoid on a Friday lunch if you have a busy schedule. Also be aware of the 1.5% surcharge on the eftpos terminals.
Really nice spot with great bar staff, nice open outdoor seating and great value specials for the area. Food was average and was somewhat concerned by the kitchen staff fondling the food in front of us when we picked up our food - made me wonder what they are doing when no one is around however while I probably wouldn't recommend eating there and definitely won't eat there again myself on the basis of that alone, I will definitely return for a drink or two.
I basically went there on a work break with 3 friends and ordered a meal. My friends got their meals pretty quickly, after waiting about half an hour I approached the counter about this and was told my order number did not exist, and they then asked me to re order another meal (which took ages). I find the fact that there was not even a simple apology absolutely appalling, and i would certainly never recommend this place to anyone!
Super busy on a Friday night! All the corporate workers enjoying a drink! But one problem, no one was wearing an mask! So it’s not so safe! It’s easy to catch covid-19! Perfect for days before covid! I used to love going there drinking after work, even had the food there! Very delicious pub kinda food! I recall eating fried chicken and waffle chips. Nice place to sit back and chillax but no social distancing exists anymore.
Terribly run. I've been here once, ordered one drink, gave them my card to tap. All in good trust. Checked my bank statement day after: I had been charged triple the amount(!!). I sent Ryan's bar an email with the print screens of my bank statement and a clear description of the situation in the hope that they might settle this, or at least investigate, but no luck. They took my money and didn't even reply to me.
The beer here is very expensive. Not radically different from anywhere else in the city, but pricey. Of course it's a fabulous place to be on a sunny Sydney afternoon (especially given the dearth of outdoor venues that Sydney sadly offers). Given the location of course it's always full of suits. The food's not bad and reasonably quick at lunch time. Overall a great gathering Place provided you can afford a beer!
Still going after all these years. Not a bad place to have a drink after a hectic day at work. Nice when the weather is good. Has always been a bit of a queue for drinks any time I have been there.

Wheelchair accessibility
Is wheelchair accessible and because outdoors and covers a large area is spacious when it isn't the very peak periods.
Whenever I've been here I've noticed two things: Suits and people scanning the floor. The irony would have been me scanning back at them, noticing them scanning. Surprisingly the bartender made me a really nice drink with Frangelico (and it was only $10). I wouldn't plan a night to go to Ryan's, but it's a good open place to be if your team decides to head there after work.
The staff at this bar are horrible, the blonde lady with short hair said “they don’t usually serve margaritas on a Monday” and said I would have to wait 20mins for the man who makes them to come off his break.. Also had to wait for her to get off her phone to serve me, also looked very sloppy in her clothing. Probably could use some new more intelligent bar staff.
I’m going with a four today, as Ryan’s bar is consistent with the producing a somewhat slightly better than average experience. Food is also a hidden gem. Great hiring policy and staff are attentive. Although, how much more can a cost of a pint of Peroni be before patrons .. dare I say it… drink at the establishment. Food for thought management
After being verbally and physically harassed by a group of men, my friend and I were reprimanded for defending ourselves from their disgusting behaviour. Security barely did anything. I've already warned my friends, but wanted to share this with other women: you will NOT be looked after if something similar happens. Not worth the money.
An outside cbd bar part of a broader food complex. The atmosphere is a quasi sports bar but doesn't really go all out. Drinks are higher than average in terms of price and only a few craft beers on tap. They also apparently don't do pints except for one label. It's a miss from us given its proximity to many other good venues.
Great spot for a beer or wine after work on a summers day. Plenty of space outdoors means your not pumping into people on the way to the bar and you don't fell like your in the next groups conversation. Can get busy as one of the better outdoor bars in the CBD so can take a bit of time to get served but it is worth it.
pretty avarage food. I got the salmon, which was nice, but the quinoa salad it came with was awful, no taste whatsoever. like nothing. there is no service really, cause you order at the bar and pick up your food from the restaurant side. good atmosphere

Appealing to the city worker who wants to have a few drinks on a Friday after a busy week, this establishment does just that. It's tap beers are Sydney priced and there is a good ambiance a mix of live music and after work chatter. It doesn't take long to get served and the staff were very friendly.
Pretty much agree with what everyone else here has said - it's a great place for drinks after work with all the outdoor space and specials, but in and of itself I would not call it a destination. As it does cater to the after-work crowd, it can get quite busy as well. Well G&T was $9.50 at 6PM.
Loved the outdoor scene, great when the weather isn't too cold. Filled with corporates, it's a great place to meet guys with ambitions, intelligence and a witty scene of humor. Go with your girlfriends and dress to impress! Definitely a go-to for Friday night post-word drinks/catch up.
Cool little city bar. Good prices, nice bubbles and fresh outdoor seating. Can be really busy in lunch hours and sometimes hard to find a seat but there's always somewhere to stand until you can find a table and chairs. A great place to relax during the week and people watch... …
Pizza was nice enough but nothing special. The chicken snitz was over cooked, over priced & flavourless and the peppersauce tasted like water. I'd only recommend this place for a social drink.

There are some great looking people on a Thursday or Friday after work especially in summer, especially the bar staff. Dead when it's raining as it's an outdoor bar. Busy from 5pm later in the week with the after work crowd only then dies down about 10pm as people move on.
So disappointed at the food and service. Ordered mine and waited for 45 mins to received the food which was burnt. Then there was a piece of hair stuck in the salad. Went to the counter and received a refund but no apology and an arrogant staff. Would not recommend at all.
Poor time management and customer service 1) google says they're open until 12. Close at 9:30pm 2) sells you food, only to have to refund because kitchen is actually closed 3) last drinks too close to closing so you have to scull or throw it out. Management absent?!
Think open air sports bar in the shadow of Australia Square tower. Standard swill beers and bar staff that varies from friendly to full of themselves. When they get it right it's a magical place. When they don't there are so many better options around the area.
The ultimate in outdoor entertainment. Ryan's bar is an institution. The food is great, the drinks are spot on and the vibe is corporate. Very rare to have such an open outdoor area in the middle of the city. A bar crawl without Ryan's ain't a bar crawl at all
Perfect spot for some house music and drinks after a long day’s work. All is good and you get exactly what you pay for. Staff is always friendly and beer is always cold! Ryan’s can get busy Thursdays and Fridays which is good, right? 5 stars to Ryan’s bar!
Lines for drinks are extremely slow, I waited in line for over 30 minutes for a drink. Definitely not enough staff behind the bar. Lovely location in Australia Square, but not a place to go if you want to spend a decent amount of time talking with friends.
Great place for a few drinks. In door & out door areas as well as reasonable priced drinks. Service was quick & friendly. Would recommend, especially in good weather as it's in an area between buildings but would get a lot of light & have a great vibe.
Great CBD location that gets crazy busy on Fridays.... predominantly outdoor bar with effecient staff. Suits bar extraordinary....dominated by 20 something crowd of " beautiful people" and a fair smattering of crusty older business types (I'm one)
Pretty good spot. A good mix of open air and indoor seats. It was pretty chilly when we went there and decided to sit indoors. The seats were disgusting with a lot of liquid stains. They can try to change that. Bit otherwise everything was good.
This is a great place to meet after work. It is loud, which is a great sign of people having fun. People are approachable, and up for chat. Service is fast. Even food is basic, but very well presented and nice sizes. I will be back
Love the location and the feel of this outdoor bar. However, it can get quite crowded on a Friday and ordering drinks can be difficult. But there is an app enabling you to order your drinks rather than wait in the long lines.
Horrible, unfriendly staff, packed with drunk people, ridiculously unprofessional "security". They sell u the last drinks but don't allow enough time for u to drink it. I'll never go back there again, not for night drinks.
Always good for a lunch with a large or small group. After work, this turns into a busy drinking spot so if you're looking for a table then it's best to arrive early as it gets busy with all of the offices surrounding it.
Went there after Melbourne Cup and as you would expect from this bar and open space on Australia Square packed full of city office workers.Good place to relax and met friends and consider latest male and female fashions.
Standard overpriced city drinks, nothing special for a Sydney bar and so loud is difficult to hold a conversation. There were quite a few people there so obviously it is some popularity but not my cup of tea.
It's a bit of a zoo, never enough bar staff for the sheer volume of customers but not a bad place to have a summer drink. Also can be a little expensive. Food is good, particularly the pizzas
So outdated and overcrowded. They really dont make the most out of seating arrangements out front and the inside feels like an RSL club. So many other, much nicer options these days.
Pretty good place to go for lunch or after work drinks, but man it's cold in winter! Great pizza

A little pricey but a great spot for a cheeky tipple during the working day. Food goes through ebs and flows of incredible, to average. Pretty great with the current kitchen team.
A little bit too crowdy and loud.. the line for the bar is way too long and the staff unfriendly. Just good if y oi u don't know where to go and if you want to meet new people.
Lines are long, seating impossible, the guys are tossers and the girls are plastic... And it gets super hot with little shade... Apart from that it has beer soooooo 2 stars.
Office crowd, lots of room outside and license seems to be it’s ok to stand with a drink out there. No craft beers and some (Peroni) were really expensive, not sure why
Just watched 2023 Melbourne Cup there. Smallest beer garden TV ever and the sound was horrendous. Will never go back there for live events again.

Visited a few times over past 15 years or so. It's ok. Terrible in rain or cold weather as mostly outside. $11.00 for a corona does not bode well for repeat visits.
Cool place to catch up after work, but come on guys you have to make the Service better, one of the rudest bartenders I’ve ever met. Hope you can improve that soon.
Outdoors and open plan bar right behind Australia Square. This place is pumping on a Friday for after work drinks. It's also got 2 bars to keep the lines short.
Good outdoor bar in the CBD. Good spot for lunch too. It can get pretty busy on Friday nights, so get in early if you want a table, however most people stand.
One Asahi for $11.20?! Only noticed this a few days after having 1 drink with some workmates. Very dodgy staff, watch where they take your cards when you pay.
The first place with availabilty without a booking after covid restrictions allowed people to dance (not that this place had any dancing). Plenty of marshals.
Pretty busy and full of suits. A really big outdoor area is great in the warmer/fine weather. Service wasn't bad but when it gets busy good luck ordering!
Nice outdoor space to catch up with your friend over a drink. Food was alright. But the outdoor atmosphere on a beautiful sunny day is really awesome.
A nice open air air in the middle of the Sydney CBD. The skyscrapers which surround the bar is very unique. A downside is the drinks is a bit pricey.
Love Ryan's bar. THE place to be after work and you want to gather around a water feature as you drink a cold beer and talk about the week that was.
Terrible food experience. 24$ for an overcooked chicken schnitzel and tiny burger for lunch after more than 20 mintutes waiting during lunch time.
Here’s a photo of a $14.30 schmiddy for you to admire. Funflation is killing the vibe. It’s a nice spot - but not $30 for two schmiddys nice….
Wonderful ambience, great food....wish the service staff were more welcoming. It almost seemed like they didnt care about repeat clientele.
Worst bar tenders I have ever had. They knew absolutely nothing about a single beer on tap and tried to use a wine decanter as a beer jug.
Popular after work drinks for the surrounding workers, outdoor setting is pretty nice. Average lunch options. Nothing more to it really.
Nice place to be and have a drink but unfortunately the service is terrible and very rude. Hope you guys make it better anytime soon!
Nice spot for after work drinks on a sunny day. Make sure to come early for a table as they go fast towards the end of the workweek.
Brilliant spot, especially with the great DJ's and Music that John has been investing in off late... really makes it a 'Sick Vibe'
Very popular in warmer months as it's entirely outdoors, very popular with smokers. Not cheap and the staff are rarely friendly.
Pretty good place to go after work drinks, get in before 5 to get a table

Fun outdoor pub open mon thru Friday from 10:00am till midnight. Happy hours daily serving house beers and wine for $6 dollars.
Quiet lunch location in an otherwise deafening food court. Barramundi crust was a bit overcooked but still largely enjoyable.
Good for a meet up and a quick drink before heading out somewhere. It is an outside bar, so get a lot of smokers near the bar
A great area in the middle of town. There are a few places to eat here too. Great atmosphere and place for after work drinks.
Go to place for after work drinks on a Friday when the weather is good. Can be very busy and draws a good mix of people
Great atmosphere, good music and loved the Long Island Cocktail. Fantastic place to go to on a Friday night after work
Very professional service from staff who make you feel welcome.

Reasonable open air bar. Good place of the weather is nice. Does get very noisy at peak times like Friday after work.
Good place in the city for pub lunch at a reasonable price. Most places are double the price and not as nice. Points
Meh. Ryan's bar is Ryan's bar. Has been the same for years. I'd swear it was exactly the same suits there from 1998
Drinks were fine and good chilled atmosphere but we were served by THE rudest girl at the bar... so unprofessional
Great spot for a few drinks after work. It gets really busy but the line at the bar is never too long …
Hard to believe anyone could make a smaller burger than McDonalds! $23 for a burnt tiny tasteless burger …
Always love having a drink at this bar, lots of outside seating and spread out to enjoy a drink after the week!
Gets busy from 12.30 for lunch Thursday and Friday in particular. Great meeting spot when the weather is good.
Large open space. Very average service. Gets very busy - especially on Friday. There are better places to go.
Great bar for a large group. Plenty of outdoor space. The crowds can sometimes turn into a bunch of bankers.
Always nice to come here and enjoy a beer with mates in the huge outdoor area. Good times and good vibes.
Good atmosphere and very busy on Friday nights, but they could do with more staff on the bar on Fridays.
Insanely busy on Friday night. If you want a big outdoor bar with 20 & 30 somethingsthis is your place.
Excellent place to enjoy a cold drink after work. Nice environment and the staff very friendly.
I especially loved German craft beer

Cool place, okay food but bar staff (particularly the blonde dude) have horrible attitudes
Noisy, bustly, full of suits and casuals. Good spot for after work drinks or a catch-up.
Good atmosphere with a nice outdoor area Spoilt by having to wait 30 mins + for a drink.
nice place. but chicken shnitty was tough as. calamari was good . probably not go back
Nice place for Friday drinks - nothing bad, but nothing special. Good to check out
I don’t recommend the food, even for a pub it’s a low quality and tasteless food
