Let me share my tale of woe so no one else has to. It all started because I wanted to get a new eye shadow. I went to Sephora and found one I loved but I waited to buy it. I came back a week later and was nearly mauled by people asking if I needed help. (Read body cues, people!) I ended up getting some other things too. My purchase was a lot for me - over $250. When I went to check out, the associate did not even look at me. She pushed and pushed, manipulated and pressed me about opening a credit card. I didn’t want it. She didn’t care. The person next to me had just opened a card and I heard the associate announce it into the walkie. Everyone was elated. I didn’t want the card though. So my cashier treated me quite differently. I couldn’t use my points (I had over 3000). I didn’t get any free samples. I wasn’t thanked. I was treated so poorly that I filled out the survey and asked to speak to someone if possible about my experience. Well, the GM rang me the very next day. Credit to her. However, the call was rather lack luster. “Yes, all cashiers have to push our credit card.” “Sure, we’ll follow up.” “If you ever come back maybe we can throw you some samples.” It made me feel dirty, grimy. I felt even worse. Like I was yet another check box. I went back on June 27th. I returned what I had purchased. At 10:39 am according to my receipt. The gentleman who assisted me asked if I had used the products. I said I hadn’t (I had just purchased them the day prior.) he said ok and then proceeded to do the most rigorous Inspection I had ever seen. Airport security is no match for him. All the while he was telling me it was new policy. The woman next to me also had a return. She was asked, “was the product not up to standards?” Hear the difference The woman said she just changed her mind. The cashier said, “no problem!” Without a second thought she completed the return and offered the client some samples. All the while my cashier was still inspecting my return. My items were still wrapped in plastic in unopened boxes from one day prior but I clearly did not measure up to what he thought his customer should look like. Some bias It was humiliating and I left feeling like the lowest life form on earth. I made myself a promise there and then to never. Ever. Set foot In the store again. I tried to contact Sephora directly to share my experience but wasn’t able to do so. Well, I guess I’ll do it here.
I'm unfamiliar with the layout of the store and and don't know much about makeup. I was circling around the store a few times looking for a particular makeup brand and about 10-15 min later, someone came and ask if I needed help. She then called for some assistance, after I had explained that I don't know much about makeup and needed some help getting started. After the associate arrived I told her that I didn't know much about makeup but was interested but I wanted to learn more and needed help getting started. She picked one that matched my complexion and asked if I needed anything else. I explained that I had more questions, but being new to this, I didn't know what else I needed, to get started. I was expecting some advice or pointers only to be told, whenever I find out what my questions are, to come look for her. Then she walked away and went back to the other associates that were standing around by the mirrors. A few minutes later I went back to her with a question and was only shown the products and then she told me come look for her if I had anymore questions then she left again and went back to the other associates standing around. I was really surprised by her responses the last two times and I didn't expected that at all, and I was unable to understand why. There wasn't alot of foot traffic at the store seeing how most of the associates were standing around by the mirrors gossiping and I was highly disappointed about this whole experience. But I was highly disappointed with what I experienced that day and it didn't helped that I live out the way and only two stores are available. But this store had the most positive reviews, which was my main reason for coming smh...
Not a customer oriented location. I just drove from Alderwood mall to U Village because the line was going out the door but when I got here they closed an hour early from the smokey air. Really? You can't stay open for an extra hour? How does the air outside affect in the inside of the store? Theres many people walking around U Village. Also, the last time I came here I was looking for mascara without silica, I asked about some products I found and explained what I was looking for but then I was shown a product that had silica in it was told to consider it because it's organic, well just because it's organic doesn't mean it's free of irritants, I chose one I picked up first got home and when I opened it I saw it had a double wand that made my eyelashes very curly, the person "helping" did not mention anything about the special features of the product which would have had me sold on it right away. Edit: I tried going to this location 3 times in row but they kept closing earlier each day from the smoke so I every time I showed up they were closed. When I finally got in the security guy was following me around the store while all the staff were hanging out not helping me.
If I could give this Sephora a 0 rating, I would have. I have been here numerous times during non-busy times (today on a quiet Monday afternoon). Each time, I’ve had to ask different personnel Various questions about what was in stock. Either the personnel were rude or did not give me the time of day. I think today is the straw that broke the camels back that made me write a negative review. I asked one lady and she said to give her a moment and she’d come back to help me. She did not come back within the 15 minutes I stood there in the same aisle waiting. Then I went to ask someone else the question and she answered as if I had immensely offended her by asking her anything. This is why brick and mortar is slowly shutting down businesses one by one. For the amount of money one spends on makeup here, customer service should be better especially when the store is not even busy. I decided to give up and just order stuff online. I can at least do returns here if the product doesn’t work out for me.
I've been a loyal Sephora customer for years. I spend thousands of dollars a year plus refer friends and family to Sephora constantly. I often joke that the only company that could pull me from my current company would be Sephora. However - this changed per my interactions at this store. Not only did I was 25 mins in a store with 5 employees and 2 customers, and asked several times for assistance, but the store manager was working with me on an issue that had happened recently with my order. She told me she would contact the regional director and get back to me in 3 days.. 1 week later, after I've left several messages, I've heard nothing. Ulta's customer service is top notch and would never ignore a customer like this. It's pretty surprising in my book and I cringe daily when I receive Sephora emails now. I'm going to take my business elsewhere for a time. Can't believe $80 is worth my entire business but okay.
Overall, I generally have a good experience in all Sephoras and it was up until today I had a not so great experience. Maybe the employee was just having a bad day, but I asked them about a certain product & if they had it (Cay Skin which is still a pretty new line by Winnie Harlow). And they unfortunately didn’t have it which is totally fine, I wasn’t in a rush to get the product I wanted. The problem wasn’t the product was out of the stock, but the attitude that employee gave me. Condescending, not at all friendly, even after I said, “Thank you,” after they told me they didn’t have it. No response, not even a glance back at me. As I mentioned earlier, could’ve been a bad day & I would totally understand if that was the case, but there’s no need to treat people like that. I will still be going here, but will definitely try to look for things on my own.
It took over 10 minutes of me being in the store for someone to greet me, although there were abundant staff just talking with one another and very few customers. Additionally when I got home I called about one of the products I had seen in the check out aisle and asked for someone to check the label so I could purchase it, was put on hold after telling the clerk exactly where to find it, was told the wrong product and when I told them that it was incorrect was told I was misinformed and that was the only product of that type they had and that I was wrong. Went to a different Sephora today, found the product and purchased it. I will never go to the university village Sephora again and advise others to avoid it as well.
Love the products, could do without the rude & self-centered salespeople. Also their scientifically unfounded policy that cloth face masks don’t work, so they make you wear a blue one upon entering even though every person working in there was wearing a cloth face mask. 3 consultants/employees approached me and when I asked for help with something they said they didn’t know or looked confused. 3 stars is for the awesome Sephora website, this stores location, great selection of products in this store and especially the free birthday gift this month was a mini Laneige sleeping water mask trio. So cute and works wonders overnight. Follow me on IG : @empressofskincare
I was in Need of a Kabuki blush brush so where else but Sephora! As I walk in I was immediately greeted by three beauty advisors and Donna immediately began assisting me. She showed me several brushes but none were what I was looking for. She said that she might have what I needed just give her a moment. She went in the back and came out with exactly what I wanted! Now that’s knowing your inventory! She finished with helping me with a fragrance and hair care items. Great customer service from Donna. Thank you! Cashier had a great personality too! The store is located near Washington University in a beautiful outdoor mall with great Restaurants to boot.
Out of all of the Sephora stores in the greater Seattle area, I love this one the most! While other locations are out of stock of my favorite (and best selling) products, I've had no trouble finding it here. During my most recent visit I was on a time crunch and I was greeted as soon as I came into the store and helped with a specific kind of skincare product that I'm new to trying. Nia immediately helped me get some samples and was VERY knowledgeable. I left excited about trying these product samples and knowing a lot more about some other interesting brands! Thanks Nia; I'll definitely be back!!
There were several service folks who were around but no one came over to help with my queries. I asked them valid questions politely which they answered curtly, but rushed to help other customers who didn't really ask for their help, which was frankly insulting after a while. No one even pretended to be friendly. I wonder if all this snootiness was because I was not wearing any make up that day after a massive breakout. This worst service I have ever received in a Sephora. Will just get stuff online or go to a different one.
Me and my husband were at Sephora University village store yesterday (20/10/2017).We were not planing on buying anything but just looking around. But we came out $300 lighter thanks to Cinthia. If not for her we would have left earlier. She was very patient and took her time on me.I had never been satisfied like yesterday .Thank you so so much cinthia for showing me all the stuff and for taking all your time looking for the right product for me. The 5 stars is for your fantastic customer service you have provided me.
Zeke was super helpful with me today when I came in and was having trouble picking between moisturizer products. They recognized when I was having some trouble, gave great advice, and followed up occasionally when I seemed to be having some confusions. I really appreciated the assistance and care. This thorough intentionality is exactly what makes me want to return and get more from this store. Thanks Zeke, make sure zeke gets a promotion if y’all can give one bc zeke deserves it
I like this location better than the downtown one, though it is a little smaller. I do find it can feel crowded with not too many people just due to the layout, but it's never a huge problem. It can also be hard to find someone to help with specific asks since not everyone seems to be as well versed in all the product categories (skincare/makeup/perfumes) but I'm at least able to usually find what I'm looking for since they keep a solid stock of inventory.
Just want to share that the employees at this store are very honest and helpful! I bought something with cash today and apparently dropped some of my other cash on the ground. The customer behind me turned it in (which is also fantastic!). They looked me up from my transaction and called me to come get the money. Really went above and beyond. I am very grateful and humbled. There are some honest people in this world!
I've been here 3 or 4 times and the ladies there always are very willing to help. I'm still learning about makeup and what works for me so their assistance is much appreciated. I love that they actually care to offer totake the time here to help me try on different products and color match etc so that I get exactly what I need. That can't be said for many other Sephoras I've been to so thank you!
The in-store services are AMAZING. Cliff did an absolutely amazing job with our family member during a makeup application. He was detailed and thorough, and they felt wonderful about themselves after he was done. The store is well stocked and despite being in the middle of a whirlwind of shoppers, everyone working there was really professional, helpful, and attentive.
I decided after decades of using the same method and getting sub par results that it was time to get professional advice. I was super nervous because this is my face we're talking about but Kristine and Claire made me feel at ease and helped me with all my questions. They even tried the makeup on me and showed me proper techniques. I'm So grateful for their help!
They are really helpful but not nice at all, really fussy and rude. No one asked if I needed help until I came to one and ask if she could help me. I was standing there and look for help for 10mins. Thank for helping me getting a suitable foundation and a sample for it but the attitude is definitely a big problem the employees need to pay close attention to.
I've been here twice and the employees are awesome. They always convince me to buy things, although I'm not mad because everything they recommend is exactly what I want and does exactly what it claims it does. It's always much easier for me to just walk up to someone and ask for help (if they don't talk to me first which has happened both times).
Rick was very knowledgeable about the products and knows the art to an awesome experience. He is a great representative of Sephora. Karen was also really nice and funny. Jacks, the store manager exudes good energy and you can understand why all of her employees are the same way.
It’s a more crowded store since it’s in the U-Village but I wish the layout was a bit more open. Instead it can feel somewhat messy- they have cotton pads and lip wands to try on makeup but then no easily available trash cans so people leave makeup samples on the counters.
Ok I hate buying makeup. I had a gift card and so it had to happen....Sephora. Staring at my old middle aged face makes me cringe. However, the lady at Sephora was totally chill. I actually bought 3 things. She was awesome, made sense and I .....kind of...had fun?!
I had a contouring tutorial done and loved it! Sela prepped my skin and she was very informative and kind. Dylan did my make up. He was so amazingly efficient, caring about my concerns, thorough and attentive. Wish I could hire him to be my daily makeup artist :)
Went here right before coming out as trans and I was a bit scared. Was greeted by a trans worker, which fairly quickly put me at ease. They were really helpful in helping me figure out my foundation color and learn what different makeup products are for.
This is my favorite Sephora to shop at. Everyone who works here is always so kind, helpful and friendly. I don't think I've ever had a bad experience here. I live in Edmonds but have no problem making the trip to the U village just to shop at this store.
Probably better for women & young girls selection wise, but their selection of men's fragrances was surprisingly poor. Sephora is part of the Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy group you'd think they'd have a fabulous selection. But no. Won't go
My makeup artist cancelled on my wedding day and I had sephora as plan b. I’m so glad I went there. Stuff are nice helpful and Centhia is very professional she made me super beautiful that day and I couldn’t be happier. Thank you Centhia.
prepare to be racially profiled!!! Many customers around us but we were the only ones asked if we needed anything. They also kept bothering us about leaving stuff at the front without asking anyone else. Seems very suspicious when we are
Shout out to Ava, who helped me find all the products I needed- she has great product knowledge. When I asked for cruelty-free items, she didn't hesitate to point me in the right direction. I've been very happy with her recommendations!!
I’m sad I have to rate this formerly great store (where I have spent thousands of dollars happily!) 1 star today because of one managers poor service and poor attitude. Usually the service here is phenomenal, but when a mini size perfume
Everyone is mostly great but I don’t like how some people are rude, and make me feel dumb when I ask a question. A one girl stood by one girl said don’t come in here with her vibe. And I was like girl, I use to work at Sephora. Thank you
Friendly and helpful staff. Was looking for a good vitamin c serum for someone just starting to build a solid skin care routine. They seemed very knowledgeable and I'm happy with the price and quality of product I left with.
University Village Sephora is such an inviting cosmetics store. The staff here is both friendly and knowledgeable. Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue is my perfect summer foundation and love the fragrance selection here also, )
They have a wide selection of cosmetics for women, but there is a limited selection of mens products; shaving cream, cologne, moisturizers, etc. The stores are always very well organized and prices are competitive.
Go see Claire H!! She will listen to your skincare needs and figure out what will work for you. Was very accommodating to my cruelty free needs and even did a free facial with a mini peel. My skin feels awesome!
They are very helpful and knowledgeable on the product lines! They helped me choose the most appropriate eye liner for my eye shape. They are always around to help with any questions.
Please support your Local Sephora store. Stores are open, shop your favorite products, or if you wish, order from your local store and pick up curbside. Stay well and Happy Holy Days.
Love it here! I walked in beat up and sore after a doctors appointment thinking I'll be judged. They were so kind. I went in for eyebrow help, and I got great help! Jesse, thank you!
Staff is just rude. I went in trying to find a blush and a self tanner and both employees who assisted me just seemed like they did not care and couldn’t wait to be done helping me.
The manager here was incredibly rude and condescending. I’ll be buying my makeup at literally any other location from now on. Would not return, but the rest of the store was great.
Love their new store! I've been a customer and VIB member for years. This location has very friendly staff who are also helpful for finding what you need for hair, skin, etc.
The staff were really friendly especially the one with with long brunette hair with brown eyes(I forgot her name). She helped me find the right moisturizer for me.
Employees are always helpful and kind. As soon as I walk in they as if i need help finding something. Very helpful in finding just the right product.
Very helpful staff! Gina was so helpful and kind and gave us great recommendations on products for people who use Differin. Give her a raise! ;)
No different than other Sephora locations other than the crowd. The strong perfume scent so not great for those sensitive to smells.
Distasteful customer service. Staff stand in arrogance. Like okay you work at Sephora. Big up.
Always a good place to buy your perfumes and cologne in the States
Best experience ever, the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Awesome customer service
