Booked a van for pickup 16:00 Monday 03/07/2023 When I arrived the van windows were all misted up, when I asked about it I was told not to worry, it had just been cleaned and it would clear as soon as the engine was started. It didn't, and I had to run the cooling full blast on the windscreen to clear it. It's winter, not a good start. On the drive home the seat felt cold, but when I got out I realised that my back and the seat of my pants were wet. By now they were closed, and we were leaving for Mildura at 05:00 the next morning. Started loading the back, only to find the the MDF floor was wet too, not good when loading up furniture, electronics and household goods. I had to put down mats to protect everything, thereby destroying the mats. On leaving at 05:00 Tuesday we put down 3 layers of towels on the seats, but they were soaked through within an hour - of a 7 hour drive. The windscreen constantly misted up, so I was having to swap between heating the cab and running the cooling to clear the screen. Arrived in Mildura, unloaded and parked the van. Left Mildura on Friday 07/07/2023 for the return journey, layers of towels again, soaked through within an hour, again. At 14:42 (Van booked to 16:00) I got a call asking when the van would be returned... Van returned at 15:42. Told the person in the office that the seats were soaked. His response was that they knew, because when his manager had collected it from another depot someone had used a pressure washer in the cab to clean the seats. A Pakenham branch worker had attempted to dry them with paper towels, so they thought it was dry. Obviously as soon as the weight of a person sat in the seat the moisture was squeezed up to the surface. I said to him, as he was apparently the only person there, that I expected a discount, he laughed and said talk to his manager. Called the following Monday and got to speak to the branch manager. Explained the situation, she said she would talk to her manager and get back to me by close of business. No call came. I called on Tuesday, and was told that they would credit me with 200Km. $56.00. I said as I had a wet seat for all of the 848Km (first 400Km free on a 4 day rental, total travelled was 1248Km) I wanted all the excess refunded. She said she would get her manager to call me by close of business that day. No call came. I have called at least 3 more times, and each time she's either in a meeting, off site or unavailable. Each time I'm promised a call-back "By close of business" but I've NEVER been called. Oh, and the offered discount was not taken off. Yesterday I called their main office again and spoke to a very pleasant person. They told me that I would get a call back from the area manager within 45minutes, max one hour. You guessed it - nothing. Customer service? Non-existent. 25/07 Called the head office again and had to explain it all again as there were no notes (after 5 or so calls) for them to refer to. I was asked to hold while the appropriate manager could be located. Then my call was put back into the queue, so I had to explain it all again to the next person. She's put me on hold to find an appropriate area manager. She then put me through to the branch manager! A person who has already said she can't help me any further. She maintained that she had passed this up the chain and upper management had said they would get in touch. So, either she lied to me OR SiXT corporate are happy to hang their branch managers out to dry. Not good either way. She has said that she will get one of her managers to call me today. Let's see what happens. YES! I got a call from the area manager! He was great. Apologised for not getting back sooner (was on leave) and has promised to make good. They have made good and refunded me the excess mileage.

First time with Sixt and I'm giving the Clayton branch 4 stars and Tom at the Pakenham branch 5 big stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Clayton was good but didn't have the little hatchback they said would be available. (I'd flown down from Qld specifically to drive my ill father home from a hospital right in Melb city, after his open heart surgery, and it was a stressful time where I needed a car I was familiar with. I was given a European SUV, which I reluctantly took, as we didn't know when a hatchback would be available. After driving it up Toorak Rd!....omg... never again ..lol... and using opposite sided indicators & wiper levers & finding it too large for driving & parking, I rang Sixt back who said I could transfer to another car if they had one. By the next day I got a call from Tom from Pakenham Sixt, who had a lovely Hyundai i30. Tom answered all my questions and helped me transfer to an easy & comfortable Hyundai i30. His communication & customer service was impeccable. I came in to the office on a terribly rainy windy day but he was still cheery as he took the photos in the rain and finalised the transfer. Thanks Tom for making my driving experience enjoyable and my father feel safe as I drive him to all his appointments Will definitely use you guys again.

PLEASE DON’T RENT A CAR AT SIXT. AFTER THE CAR I RENTED BROKE DOWN ONLY AFTER A WEEK AND REQUIRED TOWING AT MY EXPENSE. THE MANAGER MELISSA AT THE PAKENHAM BRACH WAS RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND CONTINUED TO TELL ME I WAS AT FAULT FOR THE CAR BREAKDOWN. The car I rent broke down while I was driving. Sixt stated I was at fault. Apparently they service the cars every 10,000kms. This MG was at 20,000kms when I received it and it definitely wasn’t serviced at the 20,000 km mark. I did ask the manager Melissa for the receipt of service but Melissa couldn’t show me one. I wonder why? Please don’t rent a car from Sixt you will be blamed if it breaks down and you will have to organise all the towing on your own and a replacement car. After reading many poor reviews, Melissa the manager of Pakenham Sixt and her staff have been rude, unprofessional and difficult to deal with with many customers Please don’t use Sixt and avoid the experience I had. RACV organised a car from just up the road at BUDGET CAR RENTALS ON BALL HILL ROAD.

I possess a valid international driving license and recently moved to Victoria for a period of 6 months. In the past, I have rented cars from well-known companies such as Budget and Herts at Melbourne airport. However, this time I am visiting a friend in Pakenham and have booked a car through an online platform from an unfamiliar rental company. The employee, Melissa, refused to rent me a car based on a supposed policy which she could not prove to me. I explained that I was in the process of converting my license and had a driving test scheduled for the following Monday, and also provided proof from VicRoads that I am legally allowed to drive in the state until June 2022. Despite this, Melissa refused to assist me and instead called other rental companies but was unable to find a car available. She eventually asked me to leave the store, refused to admit she was in the wrong and claimed to be the manager despite her name tag stating "customer associate". I doubts about the longevity of this company.

Had a really bad experience at SIXT Pakenham on 06/07/2023 at 0845am. After making an online reservation when I went to collect my car I was told by rude reception staff that if I am residing in Australia for more than 6 months I have to get an Australian license or else I can not drive. I have clearly mentioned that I am from Queensland, with international driving license and working and driving for one year without any problem. After this horrific news I have checked the law and it only says if you live in Victoria for more than 6 months you have to apply for a license and obviously I came to Victoria only for a short visit for few days.( We don’t have a law like this in Queensland) Luckily I was able to rent a car from Hertz Pakenham without any problem just after 30 minutes of this incident and the staff there was knowledgeable and polite unlike at SIXT. If you are an interstate traveller please avoid this terrible place if you don’t want to cancel your travel plans at the last minute.

Being greeted and referred to as mate and buddy in spite of the service staff having my full details was somewhat off putting. The vehicle has a tailgate and last time I hired came with a cable controller. Not this time. I wasn't informed of this until I came back to ask where it was. I was told that due to customers damaging them they are no longer provided. This makes operating the tailgate impossible for one person. Ridiculous. I was asked to bring the vehicle back 30 minutes earlier than its scheduled time as this would "help the staff" prepare it for re hire. I did this and no indication of gratitude was offered. Overall, not a pleasant experience. I shall be hiring from another company in the future

It is my 5th or 6th experience with SIXT and I can not be more satisfied with their customer service. Rented a truck yesterday from their branch in Pakenham VIC, and I was supposed to deliver the truck by 4:15pm. Realising that I was not able to complete the work I was doing by the time I was supposed to deliver the truck, I called the branch and spoke with Jordan. What an amazing experience. Nothing was to difficult for him to help me out as I needed to stay with the truck until the following day. He got it all sort it with no extra costs to my rental, as I was supposed to have it for 24 hours. I will keep renting with SIXT for as long as their customer service is like this.

A truck rented out by this company hit the front of my car and drove off . I got the plate and witnessed it along with an independent witness . SIXT PAKENHAM have denied any liability yet know exactly who it was hired to . On the phone they even admitted the client was a “difficult “ customer for them . Must be the reason they won’t take responsibility. It’s abhorrent behavior for any business especially this one . I’ll probably receive the usual generic response that other complaints receive. On your response by owner - you already are very aware of this situation. You were informed months ago via phone and numerous emails from Racv .

Picked up a 3 tonne truck from the Pakenham store on the 28/5/2023 I got around 25 klms from the store and the engine oil light came on and the engine temperature was almost over the high mark (outside temperature was 15 degrees) I tried contacting them as I didn’t want to risk driving the truck and the engine blowing up and could only contact the national call centre which is located overseas, their suggestion of driving the truck to Melbourne airport and swapping it over I said now (it’s 2 1/2 hrs drive from where I was) definitely wouldn’t recommend this company if this is how their service schedules are

Not the car that I ordered online but it was still in great condition and drive well. The staff working at Pakenham were great and really helped me out when I left my work bag with work computer in the car by mistake, waiting for me to return after hours to pick it up. Unsure why the company charge a $500 security bond with a debit card when only charging a $200 security bond with a credit card? This almost shows a lack of trust for customers without a credit card even though in real life people are mostly better off without a credit card..

What can I say… the staff are super nice. The truck I hired was perfect for my needs and was super clean and new. My only gripe and the reason for this review not being 5 stars is no hand controller was provided for the tailgate lift, for a person with a disability like myself this makes using the tail lift almost impossible as I am unable to crouch under the truck to use the controls and also makes it difficult for 1 person to safely lift goods as you can’t steady them on the lift. Otherwise a great experience and very affordable.

Awesome experience renting a car from the branch. The guys waited till late because i ended work late, but yet their energy did not waver. Hats off to Tom for the comprehensive explanation of the whole process when i picked up the car, and it only completes the circle that it was him again whom my car was returned to. Lively as always, exemplary to say the least. If all the staff of SIXT shares his energy, then customer service would never be an issue for you guys. Thanks for the excellent rental experience.

Be very CAREFUL as you can’t take any of their cars in WA or NT. Found this out after booking car, I told them on phone when booking, pakenham branch said that we wouldn’t be insured if something happens in those states. Even though I was told this the girl must not have cancelled the car because I’m still receiving confirmation email today and hire was for tomorrow. Apparently It’s in the 16 page fine print that she printed to show me. Who really reads this?? Not good enough really.

Was happy with the service until it came time to return car. There is no allowance for unforeseen circumstances. An accident on the freeway meant that traffic was diabolical and missed the 4.30 close time. Still dropped car off but THERE IS NO ALLOWANCE FOR DROPPING THE KEY OFF AT THE SAME TIME. How about you provide a lock box or a Shute that people can slide the keys into the office. Having to do a second trip or pay for an Uber to drop keys back is ridiculous.

Very welcoming service by the staff at the Pakenham branch, I had a hire car from them via RACV due to my car being in a not at fault accident. There were delays in the repair process for my car and every time there was a delay SIXT had no issue in extending the loan car. My loan car was very clean, modern (almost brand new) efficient to run and comfortable to drive. I highly recommend renting a car from them if you are in the area and in need of a car.

This company doesn't deserve one star worst customer service. Also staff where not wearing mask indoors and not following the covid guidelines set out by the government. Melissa was completely rude and didn't care about anything you have to say they she showed compassion. She also lack empathy. She would rather not tell what you needed to actually hire a car and see you come back so they can be rude to you . Would not recommend this company to anyone

The New Kia Sportage packs some of the best features and technologies. Ample legroom on second row which my family enjoyed during the long trip. Was able to hire a small moving truck at short notice. No other rental company were able to accommodate us except for SIXT. Staff on site were great, gave us a quick rundown of the truck's features and then we were on our way. Truck was nice and clean and easy to drive. Would happily go through SIXT again
