"Excellent wide variety of selection in the health section for plant based protein powders which I buy to the bakery, for those who like a treat here and there Safeway makes delicious Apple Pie, but I do try to eat healthy most of the time"
"it is a great store, You can find the lowest price in vancover for all items when they runing sale, even less than Walmart or Costco"

"Utterly dishonest, bait-and-switch experience"
Edit: Originally we gave five stars, but an experience happened that made us change our mind. We had an unfortunate incident with a cashier, Sim*n, who tossed paper bags our way when we asked for them and left us to bag our products ourselves. But she then enthusiastically made conversation with the next customer in line and helped with her bags. This cashier doesn’t seem quite fit for this retail business, and hopefully if she reads this, she will understand that architecture is also a field in which cooperation and civility is very important if she ever decides to make good on her college degree. —————————————————————————- Safeway is a renowned chain of supermarkets in Vancouver, offering a wide range of products and a convenient shopping experience. It excels in providing fresh food and everyday essentials, particularly in terms of the quality and variety of its fruits, vegetables, and meats. Additionally, Safeway offers various organic and healthy food options to cater to diverse customer needs. The store layout of this chain is tidy, with well-organized shelves that make it easy for customers to find what they're looking for. Furthermore, Safeway's staff members are generally friendly and helpful, providing excellent customer service that makes patrons feel valued. (Edit: This will largely depend on your luck.) In my opinion, Safeway is a reliable supermarkets in Vancouver, providing a wide range of product choices, a convenient shopping experience, and excellent customer service. If you are seeking everyday essentials and fresh food, Safeway is a solid option.
Excellent wide variety of selection in the health section for plant based protein powders which I buy to the bakery, for those who like a treat here and there Safeway makes delicious Apple Pie, but I do try to eat healthy most of the time. Chris a long time cashier manager is warm, friendly and welcoming to everyone. The store does need to do something about the hygiene of the underground parking area, where it smells like urine. I realize some people don't want to live in a home for those that do I hope everyone can receive housing via gov't affordable housing options, I don't mind my taxes going for this purposes. There are many people who live in the parking lots, perhaps set up portable washrooms in there as it smells terrible and urine is all over the pavement. Otherwise once you get upstairs via the elevator excellent wide variety of store items. I usually give Safeway 5 stars but this one four just due to the situation in the underground parking lot, it is the liquor stores responsibility too and the bank all of whose customers use this lot.
it is a great store, You can find the lowest price in vancover for all items when they runing sale, even less than Walmart or Costco. The regular price is reasonable too. I do not like all store brands' products, but I do like their brand and have always had good experiences with "compliments" products. I was really disappointed when they changed Airmiles to a new point system; not a big fan of the Scene point system, and it affected my choice to go to Safeway; I had a great experience with their Airmiles with Safeway, especially when they gave you double or triple points on dome event. I hope to back to Airmiles, which I doubt it! I never able to get a good withdrawal from the Scene point system so far, I have been a member of both point systems for over ten years. Anyway this location is excellent store and clean, super helpful staff; free parking is huge deal in downtown. They offer warm food , and soups, and there is Starbucks stands. Thank you, keep up the good work
I’ve never really understood why I dislike this place so much, but more importantly why I keep going back. I’ve got to stop. Safeway only has one thing going for it and in my opinion that is a lot of selection and consistency of availability. It’s way too expensive, the store is not welcoming in any way, and it’s much more pleasant to shop elsewhere. Today I went because there was a big flyer deal at the meat section but none of the items were actually there. I was told by the person working it was because of the snow storm we’re having right now in Vancouver so things didn’t get delivered. That is more than fine, and it’s nice to get an explanation. What isn’t so great is to then basically be treated like you’re being unreasonable by even asking, and listening to a litany of complaints about how everyone doesn’t seem to understand that it’s not that person’s fault. I just get the same attitude and feeling about the Safeway every time I go. I really need to stop going here.
Utterly dishonest, bait-and-switch experience. Their online flyer said SILK PROTEIN products were $4.99 but at the checkout they said there was no discount. The service desk man first claimed the discount only applied to Oatly products, not SILK, then, when I showed him the online flyer explicitly saying in English text SILK PROTEIN he said soy wasn't included as it isn't protein(!), then, when I explained what protein means, shifted to acknowledge it was protein but wasn't discounted as the checkout computer didn't include it for some reason. They were once honest at this Safeway but those days are gone. Expect to be craftily cheated.
The “Customer service” counter is suffering, if it’s open. I’ve never seen an employee behind this counter smile & as a Safeway customer, feel like a burden to the disgruntled employee when I’ve approached the counter for a refund or lottery. Most recently an employee rolled their eyes at me in the queue holding lottery tickets then slammed the ‘Next Cashier’ sign in front of me. Safeway, you can do all the remodeling you like, but if customers aren’t at minimum treated politely & made to feel welcome (& the products, particularly the bakery, are still outdated) you’ll never make any overhaul a success. Recommend: the self checkout.
Went on Sunday, August 9th at around 1PM and was helped by Tim at the seafood counter who provided exceptional customer service!! Tim was helpful, super friendly, informative. He went way above and beyond provided the perfect packaging and well as tips for storing for the dozen Raspberry Point oysters I bought. I’ve been going to this location for 6 years now and he stood out so much that I just had to leave a review! Location has decent selection for produce and seafood too. :) Update: was just helped by him again and he is super consistent - always ever so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable. Just the best. Thanks Tim!
"Safeway Robson is a great grocery store conveniently located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. The store is well-stocked with a wide variety of fresh produce, meats, and other groceries, as well as a large selection of prepared foods and baked goods. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the store is clean and well-organized. Parking can be a bit tricky, but the location is easily accessible by public transportation. Overall, a great option for grocery shopping in the downtown area."
Bad experience with Tracy at cash. She lost patience with me asking like 2 or 3 questions about the info inside the scene pamphlet, snapped at me, then *threw* my scene card on my groceries. Nasty, absolutely unacceptable behavior. I'm sorry if you are having a bad day, we all do, but all I ask is for a neutral shopping experience, not outright hostile. Especially given the cost of everything. Spent hundreds of dollars to be treated like garbage.
I am missing a tooth still from eating expired chips form the Safeway from Davie, the chips I bought at the other shop were expired and left on the isle, I have photos and they do not care. I am going to post it everywhere where Safeway is, because I am a customer and they do not care. NO CORPORATION SHOULD PUT EXPIRED PRODUCTS ON THEIR ISLE AND SELL THEM!!! IF YOU HAD FRESH CHIPS THEN MAYBE I WOULD HAVE MY TOOTH!!!
Close and convenient, and friendly staff but rarely has the fresh ingredients and produce you’d hope the find. Lack of employees around if you are looking for something, or they don't know where things are. The pre packaged berries on display always seem to be past their freshest point and have gone sour or limp. The dates on the container don’t seem to line up with the quality of fruit at the point of purchase.
Probably the nicest (modern, clean, organized, inviting) Safeway I've been in, and I've been in many. But the reason for the extra twinkle was definitely because of the manager and cashier that helped me when I had a bit of a health spell (I'm too old). They showed genuine concern and offered great kindness. It is my neighborhood grocery store and will be getting most of my business.
I find this store to very clean. They have a great selection though pricey. I only go and purchase sale items and most of my meat. They have an onsite butcher so you do not have to buy pre packed meat. They have a Starbucks and a pharmacy. Free wifi as well. They also have automated check outs to beat the line ups.The staff is generally pleasant and knowledgeable.
I am writing this review for the absolutely fantastic customer service I received at this place. Emma, was helping me at checkout. She had the biggest smile, and the nicest personality and she made an effort to genuinely connect with me in the one minute interaction we had. Emma, thankyou for making feel valued not only as a customer but also as a human being!
Since the revamp, this is by far one of the best supermarkets in the downtown Vancouver area. The so called premium grocers do not even have as many products that this newly renovated Safeway carries. Also, this particular safeway has one of the best meat departments anywhere. The seafood department is also very good.
Update! Someone cut the opening area for the birds to go in and out. They trapped pigeons inside their garage and refusing to release them. I spoke with the manager but she thinks that somehow they do get out. Which is not true. I went there today again and they’re still trapped there without any food and water.
horrible, they sell moldy bread, and leave their expired items for sale at 1-4$ discounts, usually they discount foods that are almost expired but the. would not recommend, walk half a kilometer up to nofrills or shoppers, do not waste money on this place, everything is also 15-35% over priced even after sales.
Good store with great deals time to time! Service is always good and efficient. Parking lot to be monitored for safety due to homeless people are being settled there, please help them to be in a real home, sometimes they are rude to people around who is going to elevator from parking lot
Bought this fried chicken from Safeway Robson yesterday. The tag shows it’s packed on Jul 29th (Yesterday) but the chicken doesn’t look and taste fresh (taste dry and burnt)They either over cooked or re-fried and put it on a new label. Other than this the store isn’t bad.
They have great value meals so I eat there alot. I would say it's only once that I had my chicken not done well completely but otherwise you will have 2 large drumsticks fries and a drink for 6 dollars. I guarantee you there is no other value eatery along Robson
Had my 2nd booster shot at Safeway pharmacy . I was called the next day by the pharmacist the very next day to check up on me to ask how I was doing . Thanks to everyone at Safeway and Pharmacy on Robson-Denman Vancouver. This location Safeway Rocks
This Safeway is easy to shop in. The employees are very helpful and friendly. The foods they sell are of good quality and fresh when it come to baked goods! The reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because this Safeway is not open 24 hours.
It's a nice looking store and the variety of goods is huge since it's a big store but the prices are just so outrageous compared to No Frills up the street or Walmart further away that I only buy things on sale. It does have a well stocked
This is hands down the best staff I’ve encountered at any Safeway location. I asked to speak with the assistant manager last time I was in there to commend them. Literally from the Starbucks to the pharmacy( they went above and beyond for
Having to pack my own groceries after we also purchased a bag seems a bit unfair for an already over priced grocery store. We chose to not do self checkout but we were still expected to pack it ourselves - terrible customer service!
The crew in the meat department were really kind and helpful. However, the staff in self-checkout was not professional and discriminating different colour when we tried to ask her help on scanning an item without label.
Love the late hours. Staff has been always to determined to help me find some abstract ingredients ♥️. Produce is better than I would expect from a chain grocerer (not perfect). Great meat selection and import goods.
Not too expensive and the seafood is fresh enough. I can usually find good produce. The way the aisles are organized is dumb, so if you’re looking for something a bit more unusual just ask an employee immediately.
Popped in recently and was delighted to see a bright, freshly renovated store that has improved pretty much everything. The finishing touches are still underway, but it's largely finished. Nice improvements!
A really impressive array of fruit and produce. Good bakery and general groceries. Modest pharmacy offering. Bright, clean space and helpful staff. Most of what I wanted in one space at acceptable prices.
Back as a wee yute I was already knee deep in responsibility- cooking for a family of 19 would have never been possible without Safeway. Bargains, friends, and most importantly, a safe clean entryway!
Big beautiful store with lots to choose from... They need more bakery staff, there is never anyone there when I go and I hate having to walk all the way to customer service so they can page somebody.
The service to help me find a product was fantastic! And even though they didn't have the product on the shelf, they suggested other places I could look. Thank you for all your help.
so so expensive and the customer service is almost non-existent. What are they charging all these prices for?! And I'd like to know who can afford enough money to shop here
Excellent groceries store with a great selection of products and fresh vegetables and all sorts of meat. The pharmacy is well equipped and the team is nice and gentle.
Very clean, wide variety of food, and friendly and helpful staff. We were at the Westin Hotel (Bayshore) in Vancouver 05.23, and walked there for food supplies. …
Usually refill my water bottle here for a fair price. For the grossery not so cheap, trying to catch some discount. Overall store is always clean, staff is friendly.
The girl/staff with christmas earing will not suppose to do customee servive coz shes so rude at doesnt know how to do deal nicely.i feel bad when i went there
Nice store. They've been remolding for awhile but almost done. It looks very nice. The Deli is nice. Try the take home and bake flat bread pizza. Very nice.
Long story short I just bought their chicken skewers for dinner and it's disgusting!!! I did throw it away so I have no pictures . Disgusting
Well known place, with lots of different choices for every food on sale. Just be aware of the expiration dates, some food last for a week.
Nice Safeway on robson. The store is clean and makes me feel good walking around checking out all the products. Staff were also friendly.
We've had two recent accidents where the pineapple purchased was bad and we had to toss more than half of it away. Same with cucumbers.
I always buy my stuff from here. Everything is reasonable, but the only issue is that they are always low on cashiers and carts.
Nice ambience and good place to shop your favourite groceries . However, the waiting time for counter gets too long sometimes..
Bring back meatballs and gravy! that's my oldest sons fav. parking d.s! Elevator to get to amd fr the store!! …
A bit of a hunt for items as it has the entrance at one end. Has a great deli for prepared items and specialty items
Great to see more plant based options coming into the store! Especially local brands such as The Very Good Butchers!
Nice clean Store. Had prepared food which was good. A nice little balcony outside above street level to eat outside.
Good supermarket with good brands and product options. I am happy to see that Goiabada is being sold here …
Store is clean well organized. Bakery, dairy and produce areas were well stocked and looked good.
An average supermarket but it is being renovated. The Safeway on Davis is much nicer at present.
There are so many stuff . I just went to there for browsing . But I bought so many stuff …
Very well stocked with wide isles. Very nice shopping experience except fpr the price.
Good people. Staff always helpful. Cashiers at checkout are sooo friendly
Decent size, free parking, but super expensive.
Love the fresh bakery at this location. Yummy!
Nice, clean, well stocked and good staff.
One of the best food stores in west end
