This review is in regard with SaveionFood online delivery system. We have made an order on Sunday to deliver on Monday evening. On Monday evening at 9:45pm the driver called us and said that he can not deliver the order at that night and he noted that the order will reschedule for the next day. We accepted the rescheduling and confirmed that we will be available for Tuesday between 7 to 9 pm. The next day they did not show up, they never sent us a message or gave us a call to confirm whether they bring the delivery or not. We tried to call the customer service and their working hour is only until 4 pm!!! On Wednesday morning we were very upset about the situation and called the customer service for the second time to follow up and the lady on the phone said that the driver forgot to deliver your order!!! and they can bring it to us late night. My wife asked her if they can expedite our order and bring it in the morning because this is technically an issue on their end. and the lady refused to reschedule and only gave us the option to cancel and refund the order. Although I am a regularly customer of SOF online delivery system but to be fair this is not the way I would expect to be treated. SaveonFood is responsible for holding the value of our order for three business days and then giving us no option but to cancel and refund. This approach is not respectful of their customer and I would demand a response. Bests
Avoid this location , My wife and I go shopping at this location every 7-10 days and spend between $200-$300 each time, we've been shopping there for over 2 years. Yesterday we went shopping there and spent $240 and went through the cashier at register 16. We paid and we were on our way to our car in their parkade where suddenly we see this security guard running towards us at full speed. She rushes over over to us and makes a huge seen about how our cart has set off their silent alarm and how we have to turn around and go back upstairs and so they can check our bags. We are obviously not happy about this but comply so we don't cause a bigger scene as all other shoppers are looking at us. We are escorted back up to the cashier where they spend 5 minutes going through our bags and checking our receipts while all other customers are walking by us and looking at us. They then figure out that everything is paid for and we went through a cashier and not a self checkout, they tell us it was a false alarm and say we can leave. This was clearly a very humiliating experience as my wife and I are both professionals. We will not be going back there again, clearly Save on food and their management don't care about their customers and how their mistakes humiliates them, maybe have your security check cameras or check with cashiers before running after customers and stopping them.
Shopping experience was good, but parking at this Save-on-Foods is next to impossible! 1. You must take a parking ticket when you arrive 2. Try to find a parking spot in this very crammed and dark underground parkade 3. Remember to present the ticket at the store checkout if you want to have the cost credited off your purchase (that is if you still have the ticket and remember which pocket you put it in) 4. Don’t forget to pay for the parking at these inconspicuous machines in the underground parking area (again, if you can find the ticket - otherwise be prepared to pay $25) 5. Remember to retrieve your ticket from the machine and take it with you 6. Find your car and drive out through the barriers which will only open if you insert a paid parking ticket. And heaven help you if you slipped up on the above procedure - you’ll be trapped in your car at the barrier gates unable to get out with horns honking behind you. On top of this, they have coated the floor of the parking area with this sticky paint that causes car tires to loudly screech on rainy days every time you turn the wheel. When the lot is busy, as it usually is, you need hearing protection to prevent your ears from being blasted with this multi-tire screeching sound that reverberates throughout the room.
I shop at this location pretty regularly. Today I went in. The cashier at the checkout (Harkeet) did not look at me or greet me with a hello. I brought my own bags and put them on the conveyer belt again of my groceries. She put the bags aside and started scanning the items and also putting them to the side. I paid, she handed me my receipt and was about to start helping the next customer, when I asked if she was going to bag my groceries or if I was supposed to. She said, you can or I can. I responded with, it doesn’t matter to me, and the reason I was asking was because some places (like Superstore) require customers to bag their own groceries while every time I’ve been to Save-on, the cashier has bagged them for me. She looked at me and said, ok give me the bag. I gave her one bag and she was basically throwing things inside in anger. Not everything fit into one bag so instead of letting me pass her another one or ask for one, she pushed the remaining items all the way to the side with her arm and started ringing in the next customer. I stood there in shock. I finished bagging the items that she had rudely pushed to the side and left. I don’t know if she was having a bad day, but I left the store today very upset. She was very rude to me.
This was my second time I've been in this store. They validate parking. I went there because I needed to drop my kid at a Skytrain stn and go to WFM, Cdn tire, and HD as well as Save-on - this was the perfect location. After doing my other shopping I went to Save-on. I finished my purchase at and reached into my pocket for my keys only to discover my parking ticket. I turned to the cashier and she saw the ticket. She smiled kindly and said that Custom Service would help me with it. At Customer Service the woman with straight bleach blonde hair did not look like she wanted to be there. I tried a little levity (I was also feeling stupid for forgetting the ticket - both times I've been there), smiled and joked apologetically that I'd remember next time. The woman looked at me with a straight "we are not amused" face and said to me that they "would not be able to validate my ticket after a purchase the next time. I left flattened. Not because I might not be able to get my ticket validated next time but because I felt she took her bad day out on me. Sorry, I can be a little sensitive especially after an early, long, tiring day. My question is: is her statement true? I saw no signage regarding this change of policy but I may have missed it.
Honestly I’m a pretty easy going person. I always come here and go self check out. However today I decided to go thru with the cashier because I’m buying a gift card, thinking it’s better to have someone help me do the purchase. The line ups were long which is fine, I was not in a hurry. FINALLY when it got to me, this cashier clerk tells me if I can just go to the customer service instead because this is her only second day… I’m sorry?!? This is your second day, so wouldn’t it be a perfect opportunity for you to also learn how to do it? Maybe next time actually wear a tag or put a sign that says you are a trainee. Or better yet actually ask someone for help so they can teach you how to do it for future references. I lined up just like everyone else, waited patiently, and then when it comes to my turn I have to go and get it done with another clerk... I work in retail too, so to me that is no excuse for this new person. I didn’t want to make it a big deal so I did go thru to customer service which the clerk there was super helpful and friendly.
I never post anything because im lazy.. but the staff was just so rude. we told that the price we saw on sale was 5.99 and at first she went to check and she came back with the tag and okay ill honour it. and then she kept trying to adjust the price and couldnt so then she turns back to me and say oh its because its not the flavour thats on sale.. and then we told the lady no it does say its on sale and she was like nope. and so i had to run and get the tag that had the correct pricing with correct flavour. and she kept saying because of you guys i should be already home.she had to just keep arguing at us... and then there is overpriced parking ticket that i couldnt even.. because it was literally 1min after 1200 i wasnt able to speak to parking agent so in order for us to come out of the stupid parking lot we had to pay 6 dollars when it said first hour parking 3$. we were stopping here to shop before we go home after our very nice day and they just completely ruined our day at the end. THaNK YoU
The customer service in the deli department at this Save on Foods is awful….every single time I go in there to get deli meat I’m waiting at the counter for 8-10 minutes, no one is there. And if there is a deli employee there they are way off doing dishes, they see customers at the counter and turn their back and ignore. Practically have to raise your voice to get their attention to come over to be served. And when they do eventually come over they are outwardly annoyed. They seem to forget that it is their job in that department to serve customers. Without customers they wouldn’t have a job and I as a customer am not asking for much just to be served quickly. It’s clear they are short staffed and I sympathize. But blatantly ignoring and being rude to the customers is not appropriate. Hope management fixes this issue as I see it’s not only me but other customers waiting and being ignored every time I go in.
There are a few particular cashiers who are quite rude and ruin the experience for me. These two ladies I always try to avoid. As someone who used to be a cashier myself, seeing them act in such a way bothers me. No friendliness or greeting, no smile, not even bothering to read the total to a customer, and sometimes treating customers like absolute garbage...at any of my old jobs they would have been fired a long time ago. It's very unprofessional to have such a clear reluctance to help a customer at a customer-orientated business. You may not like your job, sure, but it's not the customer's fault. We're just here to buy our groceries. It's a shame the awesome, helpful, and friendly floor staff/greeter get overshadowed by such behaviour. They've always been great. But when I see these people treat myself and other customers badly, I just can't give anything better than two stars.
If I could give 0, I would! Bought our groceries, went to self check out, put a $100 bill and the machine spat it out so I tried again, only this time the machine didn’t give it back but showed an orange light. I told one of the ladies what happened and she asked ‘are you sure you put it?’ WOW!!! Only after that she said that she’ll call the supervisor. During this time something on the screen indicated to open the machine as clearly something was wrong. The supervisor came, barely acknowledged us and said he’s going to check the security camera’s, assuming we were lying! Almost 20min passes and another lady came and asked whats going on, she then suggested opening the machine and found that the bill got stuck! The only person who apologized for the situation was the security guard, so thank you to him for being friendly and kind! Probably won’t be returning though!
I love this Save On Foods due to its extremely convenient location right in the heart of the neighborhood, next to a bunch of big box stores like Home Depot, Canadian Tire, Best Buy, across the street from the liquor store and Whole Foods. you can do all your weekend shopping within one block! Costco is just a stones throw away as well! This location is large and well stocked. The produce here is actually very good and fresh and there is a whole variety of prepared foods as well that are of high quality. Overall, the stock is excellent, and the place is very clean and inviting. COVID protocols are being adhered to, and there are a lot of cashiers and self checkout options available so the wait is not too bad for checkout, although this store is always quite busy. Will come again for sure!
If you're expecting, "Go the extra mile" service their tagline promises, you're going to be disappointed. Particularly speaking about the delivery service. I'm not sure what it is about picking out produce that produces such a challenge to the shoppers, but it does! Inevitably, there's always something missing off the shopping list that I've ordered, or there's a problem with the expiry dates on items like dairy, as well as the aforementioned problems with fresh produce being ripe. Periodically, I've received email surveys professing how important my opinion is. I feel them out, send them back, and the same thing continually happens. It defeats the purpose of having the convenience of delivery if I have to go out to get items that are not in stock, are rotten, are expired, etc.
The service was excellent here until I was in my way out of the store. When I left the store I proceeded to the exit, the doors were all locked so I walked through the small exit door. As I was leaving the wheels on the cart locked up I fell and ended up with a very large bruise on my arm as well as a very hurt leg, I struggled to get up when I noticed a security guard who upon seeing me outside the store with the cart yelled at me that I was not supposed to have the cart outside the store and left me there after iij continuously told her I had fallen and was hurt.i stood there in pain trying to figure out how I as to get my groceries to my cab. I walked my groceries to the street where my taxi would probably be pulling up.
Trust, reliability, and professionalism are the main reasons people choose to visit an established business like this one over other grocery stores (it’s certainly not the abominable prices). When you post that you are open until 10pm, people rely on your advertisement. Denying customers access before the listed closing time is the type of unprofessionalism I expect from a struggling small business, not SAVE ON FOODS. My daughter arrived at 9:56pm to pick up a single item, only to find doors locked and a supposed “supervisor” claiming it’s 10pm on “their clock” and denying entry to customers. Next time I urgently need something and have 10 minutes to select a store to rush to, it most definitely will not be Save on Foods.
Pros: - Fresh seafood and meat. Always seem to be well-stocked. The steaks are not bad and fish is delish. Rotisserie chicken can be a hit or miss ...sometimes they are busy and sell out early during the day. - There is paid underground parking and you can get your ticket validated if you spend over a certain amount- I believe it's $10. Cons: - Parking in the area can be a struggle if you don't want to park in the underground lot. There is usually tons of traffic around and pay parking only on the streets nearby. - The self check-out can get super busy and the machines are not the best (you'll often have to call an attendant over multiple times to get a transaction sorted).
The store is OK, prices are middle of the range, and selection is fine, HOWEVER, the CHECKOUT is HORRENDOUS!!! Absolutely and utterly unacceptable! It is the WORST EVER checkout I've experienced in any store and they ALL come down to automatic checkouts that do NOT WORK, always glitchy, don't take your More Card Phone#, have wrong prices, don't scan, have to have an attendant run frantically helping ppl, etc... JUST FOR THIS REASON, I will NOT shop here again! Last 3 times, it took me an insane amount of time, effort to checkout, so never again! They should GET RID OF ALL automatic checkouts for anything above 10 items... it's not workable! WORST EVER CHECKOUT!
I notice people here have some photos of their experiences. I tried to take a photo of an item to show my husband if it was the one he wanted, and was strongly instructed by a staff member that photos are not permitted in the store. What? Since when can you not take a photo of items in a grocery store? There are no signs indicating that it's some new rule. They then watched me to make sure I didn't take a photo anyway, like I was some sort of criminal. So not the experience you want to have when you're just trying to get some groceries. I'm sure it doesn't apply to all employees, but sure makes one feel like Covid is killing any sense of customer service.
I’ve been coming here every week for around 1 1/2 years. Everything about the store is great however I’ve had so many bad experiences with the employees it’s mind blowing. My absolute FAVORITE cashier is Vesna and I always try to go to her checkout when she’s working. She’s so great and always bags our groceries. I’ve had so many experiences at this store where the young women cashiers get so mad and rude when we ask them to bag our groceries while scanning our food. Honestly I thought this was what they were suppose to do? I always help out but would be nice not to have attitude every time I ask a cashier to help bag our groceries as they scan our them.
Saw a cashier berate a woman who had said she was medically exempt from wearing a mask. He made a scene about how she's not exempt and called her "selfish". Didn't know folks in customer service were allowed to call patrons names and behave in such an ill manner. Felt compelled to write this review since I've seen other folks not wearing masks, certainly not treated this way. Couldn't help but feel the skewed reaction may have been because she was a visible minority. Very unsettling and uncomfortable to watch. Unfortunate to see this kind of behaviour from staff of such an established company. Cashier's name was Jamie. Urge management to look into case.
Hi SaveOn, it's me. I am still coming to see you almost weekly, and I would give you guys 5 stars if this review was written last year - for sure. However, lately, it's happened more than a few times that we've come home to find that we've purchased food items beyond the expiry date. Your customer service has always been great and willing to exchange or refund an item. I'm glad you brought back the croissant provider. I guess it's a matter of being on top of rotating the old stock off the shelves (especially milk products). Thank your staff for always being positive and friendly as we live nearby and will continue to shop there.
Keeps getting worse and worse. I think they’re trying to do some renovations and so far it’s been a nightmare. They took out more than half the check outs (which was a nightmare during) to replace with self check out. (I thought oh yay!) BUT self check out doesn’t validate parking, so back to the long line ups I go. The escalators from the parking lot don’t work so you are forced to take the one and only elevator up at the end of the parkade. So make sure if you are wanting to grab a “quick” loaf of bread and butter to give yourself 45 minutes getting up there and checking out. Lost me as a customer that’s for sure!
Pretty good selection of items for your everyday use. Parking is free if you validate it when you're done shopping. Brightly lit and not overly loud with music in background. To "D", who makes it sound like the parking area is as dark as the Batcave and seems to think that getting, keeping, and remembering which pocket your ticket is in, is harder than calculus to a 4 year-old, I would say first get your eyes checked (it ain't dark in there) and then I would suggest just staying home and using their delivery service as you don't sound like you should be out and about on your own without supervision.
Save on Nothing, that's for sure. If you're spending your money here you're spending at least 30% more for your groceries than Superstore or No Frills (which is two blocks away). They have the same food and brands, oftentimes half the price. But, I get it. Some people feel better about themselves spending way more money for the same stuff. Jim Pattison also loves it when you do. One thing good, the staff (or most). Also, open till midnight. I only go here to buy chips or snacks like that. Never do I buy groceries here. Would rather spend my money on clothes and nice shoes, ya know?
employees are great and understanding. manager Karen on the other hand lectured my friend and i for having a reusable bag. 1. i know it’s during a pandemic but other grocery stores like Whole Foods, Kim’s Market, and Sungiven Foods allow it. why can’t you? 2. you dont have a sign stating we cant bring it in or it’s not visible. that’s your fault. 3. don’t lecture us and just say it NICELY. we don’t live in your area and expect to know not to bring a damn reusable bag in your store. your employees don’t have a problem with it. probably never shopping at this location again.
Great location, great selections. Prices a little bit High but certainly some of that has to do with the convenience... And that they have tactical looking security guards going through the front door. Makes you feel a bit strange while going to buy milk and bread. Excellent butcher Department with very good quality meat for the price , good Bakery, good Deli. Only reason that it's not five stars is that a lot of daily items are priced overly high for being the exact same thing as other places. I use it for short grocery lists but for bigger lists, choose other places.
Possibly one of the worst shopping experiences I’ve ever had (Cambie & 7th location). I was waiting in line for awhile. The Clerks told me to move to a different line, and countless ppl took the opportunity to budge ahead of me. It was so inconsiderate from patrons, as well as the staff. I stood there shocked! I ended up leaving without purchasing anything. Clearly the staff are not organized or trying to be quick at the till. The line was backed up. I know they work hard, but they had no rigor to get us all thru. I won’t be shopping here again.
This is your typical Save-On-Foods. The store is quite new so it’s in great shape and clean. The space is limited so I see they struggle to stock items that I have seen in some other stores (e.g. no dark choc chips). This also limit their storage space for stock, which results in them running out of a lot of their sale items (see picture of fridge). Overall though it’s a good store for your basic grocery shopping. A precious reviewer said they don’t have organic bulk items, and that is simply false. The organic bulk is just in the next aisle.
I realize the people working the deli are very busy, especially during lunch, but they should at least remember to put a simple smile on their faces when people are buying product. The only other thing is the lack of individual utensils at the salad bar. If someone has an allergy they literally have no idea where the spoon they're forced to use has been stuck into another bin with something that could actually kill them. When I asked for utensils this morning I was scoffed at... 2 stars for the chicken; -3 stars for the grumpy staff.
Not trying to sound like a Karen but whoever okayed the new pot pie containers needs to have their position reconsidered. The price of the pot pie has stayed pretty consistent over the years, but the new pot pies are no joke 1/4 the size that they used to be. On top of this, they’ve switched to paper containers for the pot pies that fuse to the food making it inedible. Pot pies have always been something save on has pioneered, now as a customer I would have to repackage and walk back into Save-On-Foods to get a refund, insane.
The store is clean; staff is present and responsive. Good selection of bulk nuts. Prices are reasonable provided you have the membership card. The store reimburses parking fees up to $2 but sometimes the wait at the pay machines in the parking level itself is a little long; they should consider adding a third one. Getting a parking spot is also difficult on Saturdays: best to go without the car. I go there once in a while when in the area, most recently just a few days ago. Bag policy: no extra charge, given as needed.
I bought some expensive toilet paper, everywhere you looked it said free toilet paper but that was only if you redeemed $4,600 points. I am really tired of the modern day advertising. The meat was so outrageously priced that when I said something a lady agreed with me and said she couldn't buy any there. I was looking for mild Italian sausage but I noticed that it was unthawed, previously frozen, and I would think there should be something that tells you that. I took my toilet paper 12 equals 24 for $6.99 and left.
Horrible customer service. I had to exchange vitamins that I purchased from another Savon that had been tampered with. I approached the customer service window and there was a curly haired middle aged brunette with her head down intentionally ignoring me as I said 'hello'....then after seeking assistance from another person I returned to the same window to ask for a validation and she said, "we don't validate for an exchange". I paid $3.50 and wasted them on a product that Savon sold that was tampered with.
For a large store the selection isn’t great, specifically the meat department is really lacking. Rarely will there be staples in stock such as ground beef. There are no self serve tills so line ups can be brutal here, avoid if you’re in a hurry! Update: they’ve finally added self serve rolls which has cut down on the line ups but you can’t manually enter your save on points card (and the barcodes wear off pretty quick on them anyways) which is pretty annoying. Better than before but still 2 stars.
Great selection of everything, just like every other Save-On on earth. Well, that is, in *my* experience, and I'm fairly certain I've been to like a billion of them, so there. Their bulk section is so good I actually buy bulk food now. And their organic produce is almost as cheap as their ... "NON"-organic (?) produce ... (INorganic?), forcing me to finally eat almost as healthily as I say I do (UNorganic?) to keep people who care about me off of my back. (Plastic? Synthesized from plastics?)
Great prices, great service. Discovered I had left my wallet at home at the check out and went back almost 6 hours later and all my shopping sans the perishables were still there. The cashier was very mindful of making sure we got everything on the receipt back in the shopping bags. I know it's their job, but we've all had retail experiences where that small detail was insufficient inspiration for the person we interacted with. So high five to the employees at this location.
Decent selection of free-range chicken and AAA beef. Pork products are hormone free and some of the pork are from the local Gelderman Farms. They have great variety of items and prices are a bit more affordable than Whole Foods across the street, so I tend to mix and match between the two stores. Customer service is almost non existent and downright hostile at times though, and there always is a line up at the checkout. Do yourself a big favor and go through a self-checkout.
Underground parking is free for the first hour with a minimum purchase. I some times do a quick grocery shop and then take the elevator in the parking lot up to Winners (3rd Floor) to have a look around. (Winners does NOT validate parking. Home Depot on the 2nd floor does with a minimum purchase). Store is open til midnight for late night shoppers. Good pharmacy and bulk aisle. One aisle of healthy food and personal care item choices - organic, gluten free, vegan, etc.
Great store and great location. Parking is validated when you purchase more than $10. I live the fresh rolls from the bakery. The butcher has the best pork steaks around, and I always look forward to Joe's announcement of the specials for the day. If you have a more rewards card you will be able to save alot of money as there are amazing weekly specials. You must have the card to get the discount. Store is clean and well stocked. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
So I went there because they had some good deals on some meats I needed. Went to the store and got the meats and wanted to get some veggies as well. I needed some Brussel Sprouts and this tall heavy set guy was stocking them and he was blocking the shelf so I grabbed some from the box they are in and was making excuses like how he had not counted them yet (really its Brussel Sprouts dude) or how it's unsanitary. I left everything and just left..Not worth the hassle.
It looks big when you first come in and yet it had a far more limited selection of products. For bulk items, there is no organic bulk area, which I find to be great at the other save on closer to UBC. My issue in general with this supermarket is that to get good deals you have to buy five or more of a certain product which is terrific if you have a big family. There's also an underground parking lot that's a definite plus in a very busy neighborhood of Vancouver
Really bad attitude! Mostly the experiences were nice and with friendly greeting. But today it was a Asian lady , I didn't check her name , looks like from southeastern Asia, helped me to do the cashier. No greeting, not asking for point card, even just drop the pen on the table for me to sign the receipt, and was so hurry to talk to the guy waiting next to me , and it WAS NOT a long line behind. Does talk to guys more important than finish your service?!
I do my weekly morning grocery at this location due to the fact the line ups are normally pretty short when I arrive. My main issue is that the store could still take better measure to respect physical distancing, ie, further limiting the amount of patrons in the store. Even with "crowd control, there are still too many people in the store (IMHO). I do appreciate the line control when paying as this is closely monitored by store employees
It is a grocery store. Quite a big store with a deli and bakery down the side from the entrance to the back row of this market. The food at this deli is a one with plenty of choices. They have underground parking with elevator so as people with disabilities will have no problems. There is a washroom which was taken care of often by the way it looked. It is also wheelchair accessible. Prices for groceries is comparable to most stores.
Very bad customer service and very poor management. Cashiers seem to hate their lives, they might be mistreated by their managers, overworked or underpaid, but at the end it is not the customer problem. The check out lines are a complete mess and the whole process is very long and chaotic. The only reason a customer would put up with this poor quality service is to save on foods, ironically you certainly don't save on any foods here.
Terrible location. Go anywhere on the island or outside of the city and you'll find the save on's have far more variety of quality produce for the same prices if not less. I can't figure it out. The staff are great, friendly, and easy to talk to. Just wish the management would improve what goes on the shelves. At the very least, not charge a fortune for tomatoes that I could substitute for a softball in taste and hardness.
Parking is terrible in this area, so you often have to use the parkade below, which is run like a scam. Instead of living in the 21st century, and have a digital ticketing system, they print paper tickets. If you lose it, they charge you $25 to leave the parkade. The layout of the store itself is a jumbled design to slow shoppers down, so if you just want a quick in and out, you won't get it. I will never shop here again.
Sending out a huge THANK YOU to Mark in the bakery — he made an awesome SpongeBob SquarePants cake (plus another small cake and cupcakes) for my son’s 5th birthday and it was exactly like the photo I emailed him. My son LOVED it and said it made his birthday “amazing!” Highly recommend getting your custom cakes made here: delicious, friendly, and so talented…plus the price was great! Mark: thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
I find this grocery store overall pretty decent, it has everything you need and not be super expensive but it is definitely more expensive then no frills! Every time I go in there I don’t find that when I get snacks from the food bins they are either stale or look a bit off . So I won’t be going to get snacks from the food bins anymore but everything else js pretty good! Maybe need more people on the registers too!
Prices are on average surreal, even when compared to other Save On Foods stores. Long lines, slow cashiers, and you have to pay for parking (unbelievable). There's a sign at the pay station saying that you STILL MUST pay for parking even after purchasing the 7 dollars minimum, which is insulting. Just moved to OL area and was exploring grocer options, definitely not coming back to this store.
Great store, great deals..but you must get your discount "More" card..go to customer service before you shop.. While awaiting your card (Or if you have one but forgotten it or #, a phone #) You can use the managers card..otherwise your paying regular prices. Store has a great layout and super helpful, freindly staff. There is one at Cambie and 7th..Knight and 21st.. Look on line for others.
Online grocery pickup service is very poor right from picking up incorrect items to getting the order accurate and not having it ready on time. The worst part is the staff and service. Employees like Laura not only are not misrepresenting saveonfoods but also leave customers with a very unpleasant experience due to being unprofessional demonstrating poor customer service or lack of it.
Used to come here twice a week for about 5 years, now I can’t possibly shop at this particular location anymore as they made a really bad move changing it to self checkout. Might save them a couple bucks but they will be losing a lot of business, including mine and a stack of my neighbors that were complaining about it in our elevator at home! Real shame, it was wonderful.
Always check the "savings" this seems to be quite common in Vancouver. Artificial price hikes to additional savings and low prices. Very dishonest and does not inspire confidence in running an ethical business. Even more amazing, for the past two years the burritos were priced at 7.49 .. all they have done here is jack up the price to 10.29 and call it savings. Very creative!
The queues are terrible at the best of times. Currently they're doing construction and for 2 Sundays in a row I've waited 25 minutes to be served. See photo. The fact management didn't plan for this and are content to let their customers wait in line this long - over a period of weeks - is disgraceful. I also find it more expensive than some of the downtown grocery stores.
Big nice location on Cambie st close to other stores make things easier to shop around, if you haven't been here before you better sing in on their points card to get some "discounts" true is this placer is expensive as it is the point card is just an illusion to make you think you're saving dollars which you are but not really. Although they have pretty much you need
Veggies are a little overpriced, but it's got a great selection and great bulk section. I wish buying bulk was cheaper per unit than buying branded bags of items, and I wish their restroom wasn't consistently out of service (makes shopping with my daughter a game of Russian Roulette), but it's my go-to grocery store when I just want to get my shopping done quick.
My first time in save on foods. Found a discounted item if I used the membership card. Requested the card from Cathy at the cashier and was asking if I can link the card to my phone number and she gave me the worst attitude I’ve received today to tell me u can’t link it to your phone number. Wasn’t a pleasant visit. I’m the store is nice and has good prices
Lotto Centre inside the store was the worst service I've ever had. The women is more interested in her cell phone than selling me my tickets. I had to repeat that I wanted 2 Quick picks and she kept repeating my order at least 5 times or more. As I was leaving she quickly picked up her cell phone again. Don't waste your time here. They need to replace her.
It is fine. Quite competetive too. Overall, our favourite in the area. There is a very nice and welcoming lady who meets you at the entrance with smiles, and is helpful - if needed. It sets the "tone" of the place for us. Staff are also very nice, so kudos to them. The Lotto people can be a bit grumpy, but there may be a "language barrier" there.
I've been going here for ages and the staff is always very helpful and genuinely care about you. The deli is great and the hot food is amazing and at a great price. The underground parking is great because parking can be a problem in the area. Overall great big location and huge selection of items. Definitely my go to for all my grocery needs!
I like this store because they have a great selection of products at relatively cheap prices. My only complaint is the fact the cashier's are so so slow, I understand they must sanitise the counter after each customer but can you at least do it a reasonable pace?? I like their international food section but they are always low in stock for it.
I like the location since there are a lot of other good stores around so good one-stop-shopping. Parking can be a bit of a pain. There is underground parking, but it's still a pain if it's busy. The store itself is good. A lot of space to move around. Check-out is ok. There is the automatic option, but would only use it if I had a few items.
Save-On-Foods is the poorer cousin to the higher end Whole Food across the road. But S-O-F has a very decent range of products. And it also has a decent and varied cooked food section with sandwiches, pies, sushi and many other choices. There food is affordable and pretty decent for the price paid. Good place for a budget conscious shopper.
Good grocery store, some savings with membership card, very good quality of fresh produce, very little choice of affordable fresh raw halal meat, this is my always go to store, they also reimburse parking for one hour shopping duration, bit of expansive side but save on food carry more or less every thing in a common person shopping list.
RELatively well keep and clean. Regular pricing. Slow on the till and overcharged us for two salads when there's obviously only one box so they like to either rip people off one per bill or they just are that careless and slow on top of it. I would recommend going to another grocery store that doesn't charge you for imaginary items.
Without going into details I will say I had a 5 star experience at this location. I had a dealing with the store manager about a small issue and he really made it MORE than “right” at the end. Knowing he is watching out for customer satisfaction at this location makes me feel very comfortable shopping here again. True professional.
Decent store but they are understaffed - often long lines at the checkout. The checkouts are also antiquated (no self checkouts and individual lines for each cashier rather than a single line for all cashiers). If I only need a few items I often go to the Whole Foods across the street (yes, it is more expensive but time is money)
Great location, competitive prices and fresh produce. A must to visit their bakery. A large selection of tasty pastries and baked goods. Don't forget to join their free shopping card, as members only prices and offers are available each week. Also, points accumulated can get free items. The store is clean and well organized.
Clean and well lit, like most supermarkets. Free Parking is acquired by asking the cashier to validate your ticket. They will give you a discount on your bill. Cashiers are friendly, floor staff don't help much. There are plenty of healthy alternatives here. Great to get some things while you are ducking into Home Depot etc.
Great location if you live in the area but this one seems to be priced a lot higher as well, i guess that comes with the 'hood but it still hurts the wallet a bit. Also because there isn't a lot of options to shop elsewhere that don't include whole foods and no-frills it is more busy and full. Good selection though otherwise
This is a good save on and always lots of options, but I really dislike that you have to pay $8-10 just to park close enough to the store that you don’t have to walk with groceries. Every other super market has free parking and big lots so it’s a bit disappointing to have the extra hassle & cost even if it’s not much extra.
The save on foods location has a good selection of organics, pharmacy and grocery items. Availability of free Wi-Fi is a bonus, is redemption for parking (with min purchase). What this location does not have is the pick-up service, nor the ability to have self checkout units. Lineups can sometimes get unreasonably long.
I live the Charcuterie Boards here and also the Ginger Lime Pork Chops. But sometimes it is hard to find the items I am looking for. I mostly go here because of the convenience for buses and location near Homesense and Canadian tire and Best Buy. London Drugs is also nearby so I can get a lot done in one area!
AWKWARD!! An Odd little cashier started off by telling me about how old people pack their groceries too slow and she gets in trouble when she tells them to hurry up. I thought it was just a random rant but I noticed that she said the same thing to the customer behind me. 1/9/23 12:10 @the Cambie location.
Good quality food/fruits at an affordable price. The lineup at the checkout can be ridiculously long sometimes ... even though they already have self checkout machines ... they seem to be glitchy and staff needs to help the customers with the self checkout process....which results in the long waiting line
I just ordered my groceries from here for the first time and am pleasantly surprised with the fresh produce that was chosen and the packaging standards. We even received a little thank you card and a bar of chocolate. Very pleasant experience and great customer service from Rosita, our personal shopper!
Wait times at the checkout are frequently too long. Have waited over 20 min on several occasions. No self serve check out. Standard Save On prices (ie a bit high). First hour of parking is credited on your purchase, but second hour is $4, so make sure to allow enough time to check out or you get dinged.
I am not a regular customer for monthly grocery shopping. But since this location is in front of a bus stop I am used grabbing produce there. They always have fresh options. I also like ther bakery and deli section. They have sandwiches ready to go, Roasted chicken and my favorite 7 layers nachos dip.
I'm never coming back here again! You don't save anything on foods here -- and -- what really bothers me is the parking. First hour $2 (and you get back $2 on grocery bill, that's all fine and good) -- however the second hour or ANY PART THEREOF is $4. That's why I'm never coming back here again.
Cambie Street is actually pretty good store offers good produce could selection and by Vancouver standards reasonable prices. Remember to get your ticket validated if you use the underground parking. They don't have brown lentils though so if you're looking for those you're out of luck.
Almost on a weekly basis now we find basics not being stocked. Seems like the store can't seem to manage the demand and stock the appropriate products. You've got a fully stocked aisle of nothing but toilet paper and Kleenex but you can't get broccoli or a hot dog bun or crackers.
Really bad staff. I was billing and minding my own business. The girl standing over there literally shouted from the back and when I asked her whats wrong she gave an attitude and said never mind. Lady if you dont like ur job please leave but i am not there for ur attitude …
Great price on everything I bought. New to the area. Found out that you needed a card to get a discount. Customer service let me use theirs. Saturday Evening was busy but still had room to shop. Very clean store and organized well. 2 minute wait was what I liked. I'll be back.
Staff are great and helpful. The lineups are atrocious, there must be a better way to manage the checkout lines. Only other suggestion I have is to the deli, it would be nice to separate the meat slicers so one is only used for slicing pork, another for poultry and/or beef.
Their customer service at deli/on-the-go food section (whatever they are called) is the worst I've ever experienced. There's this lady who wouldn't talk to you, smile, and has the worst facial expression to all customers. It almost makes me not wanna go in because of her.
I wanted to write a review about the wonderful woman named Sylvia who works in the Flower Department. Save on Foods is very luck to have her. Sylvia helped me put together a basket for a grieving family member who needed some cheer. Thank-you for going the extra mile!
I couldn't find any details on the parking, so here is: $3 for the first hour, refundable at checkout with a minimum purchase of $7. They're overpriced compare to Superstore, Costco, etc, but they know they can charge the premium for people living in the neighborhood.
Pharmacy is great, the store is mostly your average decent save ons prices and foods but this location consistently has terribly long queues at the cashiers, whether you're under 15 items or not. Pay extra at whole foods across the street and save some frustration.
Good prices, big butcher shop section, good selection of hot food that you get and eat at a table area. 1. Hour free parking if you bring your parking receipt from the underground parking and present it when making your purchase from the grocery store check out.
I needed their card to buy the large oranges at a member's price of $1.29 / lb!! A cashier gave me a be quick application form that she processed right at her station, within minutes. Another card, but if they have specials like that, I'm a regular from now on.
Cheaper than Whole Foods but not as hip. Prices habe increased dramatically thanks to the NWO. Produce looks good if youre into that kind of thing. Location is pretty good as its right next to Red Burrito and you suddenly need to buy TP and heartburn medicine.
Big, lots of variety, but save on is nearly always a bit more pricey than other grocery stores. Get a card FOR SURE, and then you may be able to get a good deal on occasion. This location is usually pretty busy too so beware, checkout can be a lengthy process.
Great supermarket. The folks at the deli are very helpful. Can always find a great deal here. FYI - if the tag says 5 for $10, 3 for $10, or whatever, you can actually just get one of that item and still pay the sale price, i.e. $2 or $3.33. Where is Homeyra?
Alot of empty shelves and no stock in the frozen food section. Other than that just like any other Save-On foods I suppose. lack of reusable bags extremely small bags for $2 a piece if you don't want the paper bag option, that was kind of disappointing
Thanks goodness they maintain common sense and choice regarding mask wearing and choice as, like my reusable bags I iften forget, i forget a mask but can still shop. The area No Frills means i have to go home as they do not allow you in without a mask.
Our weekly grocery stop. This is a great store with a great selection of fresh food and groceries. They've got a great selection of prepared foods as well as a salad bar. The staff are generally pretty helpful and there is free parking downstairs.
Great location, helpful staff, parking underground is paid, however this store refunds you $3.5 at checkout, so as long as you're parked for under 1 hour it's free (additional hour costs $4.00). Parking is also shared with Winners, and Home Depot.
Good deli selections and SOF has lots of other items; foodware, small appliances, etc. Be aware of prices in other stores so you get the best deal where you spend the most of your money. You'll always find a surprise on something you need.
After many years in Canada I can say this is a very good store where you find high quality foods and affordable prices. I recommend before buying check for deals and reward points this will make more interesting your shopping and savings.
The only negative thing I can think of about this store is actually going there. It is a two bus trip each way that eats up a good hour going and coming. Otherwise this is a terrific store. I love the freshness, selection and variety.
