I am very impressed with the service and responsiveness of Sanderson Roofing. I asked for an estimate from 8 different roofing companies in Ottawa / Gatineau, many of them had been referred by coworkers and neighbors. However Sanderson stood out. They came to see the roof the next day after I submitted for a quote online. Unlike other companies, the technician who came, brought two series of actual sample catalogues with all the different colors samples (not just the prints), and then they emailed the quote. The price was quite competitive and less than most of the others quotes I received these days, but still $1000 more than 2 quotes. Sanderson was generous enough to offer 10% discount for their 125th anniversary! They further lowered the price so their quote became the most competitive one possible in the market. Not to mention that other companies had only 10 or 15 years free workmanship warranty, but Sanderson has 25 years (and of course 50 years for the shingles they use, as they are the top quality ones from IKO or GAF Timberline HDZ products which are the leading brand and quality shingles currently in the industry. They started the job the next business day after the price was fixed. The roofer team (3 people) were very professional and worked very clean and quick. They could have finished the whole job in one day, but were required to stop at noon due to High Temperature warning. So in two half days they finished and indeed cleaned very well the entire site, including the eaves through, deck, grass, everywhere. Their invoicing and method of payment (cheque - Retransfer - Credit Card with no fee) was more than other companies can offer, and the administrative services of office (in registering the factory warranty 50 years and providing the company 25 year certificate of labor) was super fast and professional and great experience.... Something you can not really expect from this industry.... But Sanderson are in business for 125 years and you can feel relaxed that they will be around again within decades if indeed your roof had problem during the warranty period. This, you are not sure with other small or less known companies, even if they offer very low price..... Thank you Sanderson for such great service... I cannot be happier than this!

In May 2023 we contracted Sanderson to replace the roof on our house. Without informing us, Sanderson sub-contracted this job to another company who were sloppy, unprofessional, belligerent, and left a mess around the house when they departed. (Six weeks after they left, there was still debris on the roof and eavestrough covers and we were still picking up roofing nails from our driveway and lawn.) When removing shingles from the porch this crew broke and splintered some of the fascia along the edge of the roof. The sub-contractor neglected to re-roof one part of our porch and in another area of the shingles left gaps which exposed wood underneath. After we pointed out these problems, a Sanderson crew came and fixed these issues although the broken fascia was only repaired with caulking. There seemed to be little or no communication between the Sanderson person who had prepared the estimate and the people who did the work. The sub-contractor that Sanderson sent was not good at client relations, and we were far from happy in the way we were treated. While the roofing work was underway, we asked the crew to do a few things : - to move one of their vehicles which was blocking a neighbour’s driveway -to avoid stepping in the flower beds when they were doing clean up at the end of the day (we were willing to retrieve debris from flower beds ourselves) - to turn down the volume of the loud rock music that was blasting from the roof of our house, and was bothering one of our neighbours. Unfortunately the responses from the crew to each of these requests were very defensive, negative, and at times belligerent. And while they did eventually accommodate (to some degree) each request, confrontational interactions and foul language from the team leader were nonetheless quite upsetting for us and totally unnecessary. E-mails to Sanderson about these problems were not answered or acknowledged. Sanderson staff never inspected the roofing work done by the sub-contractor on the main part of our roof. If I was ever to contract Sanderson again, I would confirm in writing that the work will not be contracted to another firm.

Edit: After leaving this review of my bad experience I was contacted by Craig at Sanderson roofing and he apologized for the miscommunication and mishandling of the problem with my roof. He offered to expedite a reroofing with proper compensation. His crew dropped their other job and show up a week later to do the work. That day Martin the foreman answered my questions and patiently explained the whole process to me. I went up and took a look afterwards and the work appeared to be very well done. The also crew cleaned up well afterwards. Thank you Craig and the Sanderson roofing team. Definitely not impressed with Sanderson roofing. They installed a roof on my house in June of 2009. This spring I developed a leak. I called them right away and explained the situation even though I was out of warranty I figured I would get them back to look at the issue. Steve came out the next day to quote the repair. Great guy. After about 2 weeks, three rain events, three phone calls, I went into the office to beg them to come. I was assured it would get done next day. I phones back and spoke to Craig to ask if they could also add a piece of snow stop to the metal veranda roof. He agreed. The work was performed. 2000$ was the price tag. I waited for the snow guard but it never appeared. 4 months later I get another leak in around the same spot. I call back upset but not abusive. I think I spoke to Craig again. He agrees to send someone out. Steve comes the next day and says he'll look at the job. After that I never heard back from them. Called twice during business hours with my name and number. All this to find out from a friend in the business who came to look at it afterwards that the whole roof is toast and should be replaced!!! So I'm left wondering why Sanderson didn't say anything about this in the spring. Now I'm stuck at the end of the season paying again to have work done to my roof. And with a partially destroyed ceiling. Thanks Craig Great customer service.

I would recommend Sanderson Roofing for all roofing services required for your home or commercial building. I have only first hand experience for my home but have heard many positive stories for commercial properties as well. Dealing with Eric directly was an extremely positive experience. He is very knowledgeable and explained the complete process involved in protecting my home from the elements. He even provided a guided tour around my neighborhood identifying what is important in installing a roof and what common mistakes or short-cuts that are made by other installers that usually compete only on price. The visual examples were very helpful. The saying, "you get what you pay for!", couldn't be more true. With the experience of their installers, quality of expected work, and efficiency of the time line stated - to say that I was satisfied with the quote would be an understatement. I feel that I received more than I paid for - which is a great feeling as a customer. The value and workmanship received from Sanderson is second to none!

This is simply a massive thank you for a very quick and professional service. These are difficult times for any company during COVID but Sanderson lived up to its reputation and dealt with our emergency in an extremely timely manner. From the day the large tree branch was removed leaving a hole in our roof after a severe thunderstorm to the finished repair by Sanderson the total time elapsed was less than 2 days. Several of our neighbours expressed surprise at how quickly and efficiently everything went. And the replacement shingles look no different than the 20 year old ones they replaced i.e. no fading/discolouration due to age. The fact that there was no evidence of any repairs - sawdust, wood chips, no damage to our garden, gutters etc. - also are attributes to the skill and attention to detail that we valued when Sanderson first installed the original shingles so many years ago. So great service and a great product! Much appreciated and extend our thanks to the 3 employees who were involved.

We had our roof replaced by Sanderson Roofing and we were thoroughly impressed. From the moment we contacted their office, we had great service. They gave us a very good price for our roof, they explained all the details as to how and when they were going to do the work and they did a fantastic job of cleaning up. We left for work in the morning and when we came home, we had a new roof and there was no evidence of the workers being on-site. We were so happy that we told our neighbors, friends and family members and they all went with Sanderson Roofing. My parents came over to see the new roof and since they had a house that was the same age as our house, they ordered a new roof right away from Sanderson Roofing. Not surprising, that led to the neighbors in my parent's area getting their roofs done by Sanderson Roofing. Everyone was happy with the service and the excellent warranty. I never hesitate to recommend Sanderson Roofing.

They were recommended to me by a friend who used to work for them. Said the work was thorough and the crew was hard working. I called, they came by and checked the roof (no one was home but I didn't mind I liked they seemed to want to get the job done). I was told our roof was good another couple years and didn't need replacing right away, but that we could get an estimate if we chose to go ahead with it. Appreciating the honesty, we decided to hold off. Ottawa then had a windstorm not long after and hubby realized we had a small trace of water coming in along our main floor ceiling along the top of a wall, and along an exhaust pipe in the basement. I called and emailed Sanderson for an estimate. Emailed got no answer and when I called the receptionist said she'll have the owner get back to us later in the day, that he was out. It's over a month still no response. We are no longer wasting our time with this company. Shame.

Excellent service and workmanship! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company to anyone. A couple of years ago, they replaced two of the flat roofs of our 120-year-old centretown three-storey row house, which only has a narrow lane at the back and a very busy street in the front (so NOT an easy environment to work in), and they removed a chimney and sealed it off for us more recently as well. The quality of the work was excellent, everyone from the estimator to the service department (shout-out to Craig!) to the roofers on site were so pleasant and professional despite the challenges our property put them through, and any issue that arose (I can think of one) was dealt with immediately, carefully, and to the standards that we were looking for. How can you ask for more than that? Thank you, Sanderson Roofing, for your high level of professionalism on all fronts!

I live in a townhouse (end unit). My roof was looking rough, and so did my neighbor's roof. We looked around for quotes on replacing our roofs. We chose Sanderson Roofing not because of the price, but because of the quality. Sanderson wasn't the cheapest, but it certainly wasn't the most expensive either. What made us choose them was the speed with which they could do the job, and the quality of the service during installation and after. They offered a 25 year warranty on their labour, which was nowhere near what was offered by other companies in our price-range. They started work within a week of agreeing on the work and finished the next day. The staff was curteous and thourough. They did a great job of cleaning up, and we all in all a very pleasant group of individuals. I feel that Sanderson Roofing is worth every penny.

I contracted with Sanderson to redo the roof of my house in tandem with another contractor whose work was to install insulation in the roof cavity. So the two projects needed to be coordinated. Our house has a complicated roof with a mansard and attached flat portions which had given me many problems in the past. I chose Sanderson because of its long experience in the business. They came on time and with an army of roofers, with specialists for each of the various portions of the job. They knew what they were doing and they were polite and professional. The result is a beautiful roof with a 50 year material warranty and 25 year workmanship warranty. I have substantially improved the value of my house. After many, not-so-happy experiences with roofers, this one with Sanderson went extremely well.

I second all the positive reviews posted here. Our roofing installation was very professional, and the minor wind damage more than 2 years later was quickly and readily covered under warranty. Steve (the warranty repair person) was very personable, found and repaired shingles we didn't even know were damaged. To top it off, he had already taken down his equipment and was ready to leave when I mentioned that our gutters another company had installed had separated from the house causing significant dripping below so he voluntarily went back up and repaired them for us! We've had no issues at all, only reat product and service, thanks very much guys!!

The company went above and beyond to right a wrong and next time I need any roofing done I will definitely be calling Sanderson! A mishap occurred when I parked my car unto compensate me for my time der a Sanderson roofing job and it became covered inside and out with a thick layer of soot. I called and left a voicemail to describe what had occurred. Craig called me back and promised to compensate me. The following week a gift card was left in my mailbox. I was so grateful that they had made an unpleasant surprise turn into a very pleasant one! Thanks to Craig and staff!

My experience with Sanderson Roofing was short and sweet, the best kind of experience when dealing with a leak in your roof. I had been waiting to hear back from other companies, but they took so long to get back to me that I started looking elsewhere. Sanderson Roofing got back to me very quickly with a appointment window the same week, and they performed the repairs the same day they came for the inspection. Very quick response and turnaround, friendly staff. Will be my go to for any further roof related needs!

Sanderson provided the most reasonable quote out of four proposals. My son had his roof replaced by them a few years ago with excellent results. Everyone at Sanderson had great people skills and the crew working on my roof became like family over the two-day project. There were some unknown site conditions and much of the plywood decking had to be replaced due to storm damage. Pricing for extras was fair and reasonable. Sanderson has a long history in Ottawa, and they exemplify good Canadian values.

Had a re-shingling done on my detached single home and the quality was great. Ran into a bit of an issue where the attic vents were placed incorrectly by the team, and wire mesh wasn't installed around the chimney top (which was something I had asked for), but upon noting those two (relatively minor) issues to Sanderson, Eric and his team came back the very next morning and took care of both issues. Price was competitive, work was fantastic, and the service was great. Highly recommend.

Horrible. I wish I could give zero stars. They showed up unannounced three times over the course of several days, one of which they just put a ladder up and accessed the roof without telling us (illegal and extremely dangerous and scary). The lead worker was extremely rude to us and his staff, screaming at him the entire day. They left behind a mess on our property and the common space of our complex. Overall Very unprofessional, unreliable, and rude. Go somewhere else.

We had Anderson Roofing quote on a flat roof replacement on our century home in the Glebe in Ottawa. They came out promptly, dealt with us professionally, and provided a quote quickly. I had asked for samples of the roofing which they provided right away, and answered all my questions as they came up. We agreed to the work and they came out as promised, were very professional, and did the work in one day. I am very happy with their service.

This company did a roof for the house I rent. They were a mess. They left the job site a disaster for two days, including overnight. Ladders out without being blocked off, all of the garbage from the roof my son and I had to climb over to get into our home. To boot, they still have not finished the job, there is still flashing sitting to the side that they never put up (they "finished" about a month ago). I would find another company.

We’ve had Sanderson’s do roofing for us in the last year and in the past. Their work has always been done competently and professionally. Staff are friendly and courteous. They followed CoVid protocols. We have multiple roofs (flat, over eves, porches and garage). I would hesitate to recommend this firm. The roofing work was decent, but they left roofing nails all over the porch, damaged the railing, removed the eavestrough meshing but didn’t replace it, and most inexplicably of all, walked off with a tarp from our garden and refused to bring it back. If you hire this company, be sure to check everything before finalizing payment.

Sanderson quoted our job within 2 days of our request. Their quote was very competitive. They executed our job one week after we approved the quote. Their team was prompt, professional, very polite and easy to accommodate. They completed our job in 1 day and left the job site cleaner than they found it. Absolutely no attention to detail. The roof itself looks okay, but when it came to the finishing touches.. not good. Fascia looks horrible. Sloppy work and left a mess all over the decks and lawn (nails/garbage/etc.). Unprofessional, Id recommend going elsewhere if you're looking for top quality work.

Sanderson installed our roof some years ago and have responded over the years to both wind and ice damage to portions of it. 2022 visit was to remove deep drifts of snow on a low-slope roof. They came earlier than scheduled (in the area), worked energetically in bitter cold and got the job done!

Extremely disappointed. Got our roof installed by them and already leaking in just a year. Called the company to come fix it and they are blaming the winter like we never had a winter before. Try to stay away from them and save yourself from the hassle of dealing with them.

I had problems with a flat roof pooling water Sanderson suggested a tappered roof insulation to provide a slope for water to run off. Sanderson did an amazing job for us, and provide ememplary work and customer service. I can't recommened them highly enought 10 stars.

This company was good up front in terms of service, but there work and clean up was sub-par. Sloppy caulking and poor cleanup. Called 3 times for post work cleanup to be done, ended up cleaning debris from my gutters myself out of frustration. Not recommended.

Spotted this company working on Capital drive. Safety is VERY low on this crews list of priorities..... no harnesses connected to tie offs or lanyards. Harness leg straps just dangling and not connected. Caution tape and floppy pilons are code railings yes?

Sandersons did a great job on replacing our roof. The crew ( foreman Cory) was competent and courteous. Their price was competitive compared to others. I would recommend them.

We had them do our roof and they did a wonderful job. I had so much trouble picking a shingle and they put up with me. I think we had shingles dropped off three times. :-)
