Rental experience here! Our initial experience with Satsuma was bumpy (spoiler: now it’s wonderful!). I mention that bumpy start because it really scared us— we’ve had some classic NOLA rental experiences before, so we knew all too well that a bad landlord or management company can make life truly miserable. During that rocky time, management asked us what they could do to make things better. I asked that they be proactive, or at the very least, reactive, to our unit’s problems. I’ll be honest— I asked this with no real belief that management would step up (again, I’m used to classic NOLA rental experiences!). I was, thankfully, SO wrong! Satsuma (and Josh in particular!) have really stepped up for us— they make us feel safe and valued as renters, and really did embrace the ‘be proactive’ request. They worked hard to fix all of our initial issues, and Josh has continued to check in or reach out with any possible worries we might face. In other apartments, I’ve worried that a routine maintenance issue will take ages to be addressed (or worse, will be blamed on the tenant). With Satsuma, I know without a doubt that management will be efficient and effective in addressing any concerns. I would definitely recommend renting through Satsuma— they’re fantastic!

UPDATE!: Joe kept us updated with texts and emails every once in awhile, and then it happened, the perfect house went on the market for us in Algiers. He helped us put in an offer and was working with documents till late into the night so we could get our offer in. After the offer was accepted he helped coordinate inspections, crafted a well thought out response to get repairs/cash at closing, and got us into our house with no drama. an A+ experience overall that I would highly recommend to anyone whether they are ready to buy today or even think it might be years till they might be able to afford their own home. But with grad school came student loans that complicate my financial position. I am from NYC and dabble in the real estate market in NOLA. I needed to find a one stop shop in NOLA for all of my real estate needs -- a firm that I could count on to handle complex matters when I'm out of town. I started working with Korman Gerrity about 6 months ago, and have come to deeply trust them, which is not easy based on all the times I have been burned by other firms. I have had the pleasure of working with both Joe (sold 2 homes) and Shannon (rented one of my properties) from Korman Gerrity. Both of them far exceeded my expectations. Wow! Blair made buying a home such a breeze! We were new to home buying, and we’re lucky to land her. She is professional and personal! She always kept us informed and helped us every step of the way! She explained everything in a way that was easy to understand from the making the offer, to working with the mortgage banker, and the title company. This made it really easy to navigate as first time home owners. Satsuma is the best real estate company. Both the seller’s realtor and Blair were from the same company and never once did we feel like there was communication outside of what was best for each client.
