The Semaphore Foreshore Reserve is a large grassy area with ample room to run around and kick a ball. There is a fully fenced undercover playground here next to the kiosk, a skate park, picnic and BBQ facilities and access to the beach and jetty. There are also some great shops, cafes and restaurants on nearby Semaphore Road. There are convenient beachside showers and the path that runs along the foreshore is perfect for a leisurely coastal walk, running or riding bikes and scooters. On the other side of the foreshore are public toilets and if you walk along the path down in front of The Palais you’ll find another playground. Semaphore is the perfect spot to enjoy time outdoors with your family with options to play on or off the sand. The beach itself is great for kids with soft white sand and low, gentle waves.

The Beach is Awesome, with lots of Access points to the Sandy foreshore via generous paths through the Greenery.. There was even a smooth Cement access Suitable for Wheel Chairs, followed at the end with a Hard Plastic floor to get you Right onto the Beach . Barbeque's in Pristine Condition adjacent to Good sized Shelter Shed from Sun with Rows of Tables & Seating... The Train Rides were Very Popular with Adults & Children, not to mention the Great Playground Nearby... We visited on a Public Holiday Weekend , can get very busy , so would Recommend coming a little earlier to obtain a Car Park Close to Amenities.. Toilets are also in Close Proximity ... Cheers Col.. Enjoy your Day..

I do love to take the grandkids down to the foreshore and for the most it is enjoyable. My big gripe is how far away from the playground are the toilets..seriously too far when you have little ones. I believe a second playground is absolutely necessary with different equipment in both areas. Most equipment there now is no good for say under 7s to play by themselves. Build a purpose built play area for under 7s and another for over. And get a toilet block near the playground to help the parents, caregivers out by not having to pack a lunch to get to the toilet block

Semaphore at late sunset is deserted and quiet like a gentle muse. The white sand turns purple-pink in the twilight. The waves play peacefully with each other. Walking on the beach, those waves gently whisper into my soul and remind me of a meaningful and worthy living life, a life in which we live empathetically, respect, and love each other instead of being unkind. Update: Some photos for a beautiful sunny day this Spring. Swimming while taking photos and seeing everyone relax in the warm spring sunshine is truly relaxing.

Lovely seaside natural beauty. Beautiful clean beach, great jetty for walking on and enjoying. Lots of family friendly atmosphere activities - train, shaded picnic areas, toilets, carasel revolving with horses for kids to sit on, nearby shopping, nature walking, vintage large war gun to climb on. Restaurants and pokies.

Like any beach front, your enjoyment is dependent on the weather. The foreshore is popular for families, school class outings and casual or health walkers. Enclosed playground; kiosk; mini train trip; open grass areas; undercover public eating tables next to public bbqs; long jetty; nearby Palais Hotel and Semaphore Rd shops and eateries. Enclosed merry-go-round (psst, manager says rides free for people in wheelchair, including regulation locking for up to four wheelchairs).

Took young son to the fun rudes and very expensive and a very short ride time . Definitely won't be back. The Cafe at the train boarding area, you need to teach your staff that when people are standing at the counter it's their time to ask what they want not keep chatting to each other until people ask if you are serving or talking . Don't employ people with same interests they talk too much always have a senior and good worker as a supervisor.

Just moved here but this is my new spot. The bike trails run for miles in either direction. An amazing picnic spot. Vast expanse of lawned area. An amazing, very shady playground for the little ones, toilets aplenty. Disability toilets catered for. There is a wonderful coffee shop with a full array of food, drinks and ice-cream and very lovely staff. Lots of parking and the smell of the ocean. Perfect

A beautiful beach to visit on hot or cold days! Go kayaking or lazing about on the beach on hot summery spells. Or, when it gets colder, rent a scooter and spend a couple of hours exploring the well maintained walkways that follow the shoreline. You will discover amazing scenery, both out to sea and on land. Find a pub or Cafe on your ride and pop in for something hot or cold! Semaphore is lovely

  • Nicole Louise

Absoloutely gorgeous place. You can go for a stroll down the beach, walk up the jetty, go and get some lunch or dinner nearby. Great through the holidays for the whole family as they have a bunch of show rides and games. Always a great vibe and so many people out and about enjoying themselves any day. Easy access parking available and public bathrooms close by too.

Discover the Beauty of Semaphore Foreshore At the heart of Esplanade, Semaphore SA 5019, I captured the unique charm of this seaside area with my drone. It’s a place where expansive beaches meet the glimmering sea and skies ablaze with sunset colors. Join me in experiencing this natural wonder! #SemaphoreForeshore #DroneAdventures #NatureBeauty

What's not to like.? There are rides for the kids and the big kids. Go karts come to mind. Mini golf is always popular as is the waterslide during summer. There is a miniature steam train ready to take you for a ride next to the kiosk that has some of the best food around at reasonable prices, served by friendly staff.

  • Aiden McIlduff

A great part of the world, plenty of carparking (free) public amenities and bbqs, Aswell as a shared walking path with a variety of fixed gym equipment along it. Dogs permitted but must be on a leash at specified times ( if you do take your dog please keep our beach and foreshore clean by removing its waste :)

  • Sharon Walker

There is so much to see and do at the foreshore and surrounds. The main Street has fabulous restaurants and casual eating places. The beach is always clean and a wonderful place to walk on pristine sand. A wander along the jetty is a must as is lunch at the Palais.

  • Adrian Rutter

The foreshore is a really nice area during the summer time. There is a nice play area for kids, the really long jetty. During the summer there is the carnival and don't forget the mini steam train. Semaphore is definitely one of those must visit spots in Adelaide.

  • Michael Wing-Tang

Great beach for a swim or a walk. The dogs love it here. Pier to the right and rocks with seals to the left. Lots of seaweed after a storm otherwise it's great. If you bring your dogs it's a dogs on leads only between 10am to 8pm daylight savings times.

  • Simon Cas

Really nice beach. Great jetty and a Cafe with other shops nearby. Relaxed atmosphere and a long walk and bike path. Places to eat and get a drink. Lots of parking has a good vibe. Disability access and wheelchair friendly. Great sunsets off the jetty.

Always a break when going to Semaphore whether it be to eat dinner, sit and enjoy the sunset or even just a break away from home for a while. Lots of dogs to see which is my favourite part! And miss Riley loves it too when we go there. …

  • Mark Underwood

A great place to 'hang', beach, cafes, shopping, play spaces, merry-go-rounds, fishing, history and even steam train rides! What's not to like? Then there are dogs, the occasional lizards on a leash and cat on a bike. Whew! Great place....

  • Timothy Warnes

Always a good place to visit especially when there is an event. Multiple playgrounds and areas to eat. The main road can get busy with road traffic but there's plenty of footpath to get to choice of cafe, take away and other shops

  • Holly

Great foreshore. Lots of activities for all ages including small steam train rides, carousel, water slides, mini golf, great playgrounds and public barbequea. Lots of shaded picnic tables and grass for kids to play on too.

  • Annette Anderson

The Steam train cafe is excellent takeaway food and eat at tables there, staff are friendly a great atmosphere, Steam Train during weekends and school holidays, play ground right there and walk to the jetty and beach.

  • Kieran Short

A beautiful spot, heading towards the South end there is a massive sand bar. This means that the water is not more than shin or thigh deep at low tide which makes it awesome for younger kids. Well worth a visit.

  • john mitchell

A great to visit any after noon before sunset and walk out on the jetty. I gets crowded at times ,we usually end up at Semaphore road for fish and chips or the Palau's hotel on the beach for great night out.

  • Amit

It’s a beautiful place for picnic and small gatherings. Kids can enjoy small train ride which makes it different from other beaches in South Australia. Ample parking near the beach and a play area for kids.

  • Phillip J Moritz

I always ♥ Semaphore Beach. Perfect place for fish n chips.. long jetty.. large beach - grounding in the sand.. all the rides, the lights, sideshow alley.. ..and of course - ocean air in the lungs …

  • Vero Tebbitt

It's a very quiet beach with a jetty, with no waves, and very shallow waters. Great for kids but with tons of dried seaweed and others on the beach. White sand. No shops with water views nearby though.

  • JM “HighwaterTrouser87” Asmolo
