The Shish Gumbad monument is a stunning architectural wonder located in the heart of South Delhi. It is a true testament to the incredible craftsmanship of the period and its namesake, the blue-tiled dome, is an impressive sight. The monument is located in a beautiful setting within the premises of Madrasa Khairul Manazil, a religious school that has been in operation for over 150 years. Shish Gumbad is a part of the school's complex and is one of the few remaining structures from that era. The monument is located in a peaceful and serene setting and is surrounded by well-manicured lawns and gardens. The stunning blue-tiled dome of Shish Gumbad is a true masterpiece of Mughal architecture. The delicate floral designs and skilled calligraphy on the tiles create a stunning contrast against the red sandstone of the structure. The dome is supported by a square base, which is also decorated with intricate patterns and designs. The Shish Gumbad dome is a true showpiece of Mughal architecture, and is a must-see for anyone visiting Agra. The stunning interiors of Shish Gumbad are just as impressive as the exterior. The walls are adorned with stunning calligraphy and floral patterns, which are a testament to the artistic and architectural brilliance of the Mughal period. The monument is relatively small in size, but its intricate details and impressive design make it an impressive sight to behold. The monument is a beautiful and easily accessible place to visit, with plenty of space inside to appreciate its artistry and architecture from the period. It's a must-see for anyone interested in Indian history and architecture, and is sure to leave visitors in awe of its beauty and sophistication. Overall, Shish Gumbad is a beautiful monument that showcases the incredible craftsmanship of the Mughal period. The blue-tiled dome and intricate designs are a must-see for anyone interested in Indian history and architecture, and whether you're a local or tourist, Shish Gumbad is worth a visit.

Situated in lodhi garden , Experience the mixed architecture of lodhi vansh and after mughal, tomb from the lodhi dynastyThe Shish Gumbad (glass dome) houses graves, whose occupants are not unequivocally identifiable. Historians have suggested, the structure might have been dedicated either to an unknown family, which was part of lodhi family and Sikandar lodhi's court or to bahul lodhi himself who was the chief of afghan lodhi tribe founder of and sultan of the lodhi dynasty of the Delhi sultanate Initially all the monuments were built independently and were not one confine In early 20th century a park was developed which was inaugurated by lady Willingdon on 9 Apr 1936 bringing the four monument in one confine The Shish Gumbad is located in and is a part of the Lodhi Gardens in Delhi India. The village, where the monument stands was earlier called Khairpur. The garden is bounded by Amrita shergil marg  in the West, North-West and North, Max MuellerMarg on the East and lodhi road on the South Side. Safdarjang Tomb is situated on South-West corner of the Lodhi Garden

The Shish Gumbad is a tomb built during the time of the Lodi dynasty of the Delhi Sultanates. The building is a highly symmetric square shaped structure topped with a islamic dome. The building is an early example of fusing of regional style of North India with the newly arrived Islamic style of the Lodi conquerers to form Indo-Islamic style. The exterior of the building is highly influenced by the style of architecture of Hindu temples such as columns, capitals, brackets and lintel beams. While the interior is unmistakably islamic with niches, floral patterns and Arabic inscriptions. Also inside are tombs of unknown persons. The building is located inside Lodi Gardens and looks very pretty thanks in part to the well tended gardens, lush location and that it stands on a low hill. So pretty that it’s a popular location for photos for locals and wedding couples alike. Worth visiting along with all the order architectural ensemble of Lodi monuments in the gardens.

Along with Qutub Minar and Akshardham, the Lodi Gardens was one of my favorite things to do in Delhi. There is located ShihGumbad. It’s similar to Hauz Khas Complex, but on a much grander and more impressive scale. The Lodi Gardens is a public park that’s scattered with ancient Mughal tombs and structures. Kids run around, people enjoy picnics, and artists become inspired by walking and sitting in these gardens. The park is large, and it’s easy to walk around for a few hours indulging in a breath of fresh air and exploring the 500 year old tombs. I found it very interesting and hard to believe that such ancient and important buildings are just a normal part of everyday life in Delhi, really cool! How to get there: I took the Metro to Khan Market station and from there it was about a 30 minute walk to Lodi Gardens. If you don’t want to walk, take the metro to Khan Market station and then jump in an auto rickshaw. Hours: Daylight hours Price: Free

Shish Gumbad is a magnificent tomb located in the Lodi Gardens of Delhi, India. Built during the early 15th century, the tomb is a perfect fusion of Islamic architectural styles. The square-shaped structure is covered with blue tiles and has a dome made entirely of glass, which gives it its name. The monument is surrounded by a beautiful garden and is adorned with intricate designs and carvings on its walls and ceilings. The courtyard of the tomb is adorned with a fountain, adding to the overall beauty of the monument. The inside of the dome is covered with beautiful artwork depicting scenes from the life of the person buried in the tomb. Overall, the Shish Gumbad is a true masterpiece of architecture, showcasing the cultural diversity of India and is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in history or architecture.

Lodi Garden is one of the most adventurous places to visit in Delhi for free. It's is build after the Sikander Lodi, second Emperor of the Lodi dynasty. Sikander Lodi Tomb is here and Bda Gumbad is also here. Lodhi Garden has many other attraction too like Rose Garden... Herbal Garden and Bonsai Garden... It has its bird Century too where you can see ducks, cranes and other birds. It has big lake too where you can sit and enjoy fountains. It's such a beautiful experience to sit there and watching fountains flowing. You can watch fish flocks too in the lake. There is Sheesh Mahal too. Overall the place is a must visit and The best time to visit is early in the morning or evening after 3 PM

Shish Gumbad (Tomb made of Glass): Is located in the Lodhi Gardens & the place where it is located is called Village Khairpur. It is situated near to Bara Gumbad. It is perhaps the last lineage of Lodhi Dynasty & was possibly constructed between 1489 & 1517. It houses tomb of unknown family. Shish Gumbad is constructed in square shape & is a blend of Islamic and Hindu architectures. Western wall of the Gumbad was served as masjid. Ceiling of tomb is beautiful & is decorated with plaster work that contains floral designs. Tomb was originally decorated with blue enamelled tiles that shined like glass that is why it is name as Shish Gumbad. Tomb today is not well maintained & left to one Security Person. It is being maintained by NDMC & ASI. ASI must impose entrance fee which can be used for its better maintenance.

Exact date of construction of Shish Gumbad is not known. There are four monuments (tombs) in the Lodhi Gardens including the Shish Gumbad. The oldest of the four tombs is the tomb of Muhammad Shah (who belonged to the Sayyid dynasty). Shah's tomb was constructed in 1444 CE by Ala-ud-din Alam Shah. During the rule of Sikander Lodhi, the Bara Gumbad and adjacent mosque were constructed. Sikander Lodhi's tomb was built by Ibrahim Lodhi in 1517. The Shish Gumbad is said to have been constructed between 1489-1517 CE by Ibrahim Lodhi. Although some historians believe that the Gumbad is a tomb of Bahlul Lodi, who was the Sultan of the Lodi dynasty of the Delhi Sultanate, the Shish Gumbad houses tombsof an unknown family that may have been a part of the  Lodhi family and a part of Sikandar Lodi's court

Shish Gumbad or Glazed Dome is one of the monuments inside the Lodhi Garden. There is no charge, neither to enter the garden nor to visit the monuments inside. As a matter of fact, on any given day, there is at least one photoshoot or pre-wedding shoot going on here. The stone with the legend about the monument is itself not sure about it's provenance, the reason for its construction, nor its importance!! It however suggests that one of the graves might be that of Sultan Bahlol Lodi, the first of the dynasty. There are several graves inside, so it probably has the tombs of some other important dignitaries of the court of Sikandar Lodi.

The Sikandar Lodi Tomb complex is a beautiful park with a lot of old ruins. It is a lovely place to come picnicking and/or escape the hustle and bustle of Delhi. There many old tombs around - some of them almost in their original state and others are just an indistinguishable pile of stones. It is a beautiful place for a stroll. It usually gets quite busy on the weekends and it is a good idea to come here on a weekday. The Sikandar Lodi Tomb complex is definitely one of the places to visit if you are in Delhi.

  • mubashir kumail

Shish Gumbad(glass dome) located in Lodhi Gardens opposite Bada Gumad looks similar to it but is different in orientation. It has ceramic tiles outside which gives it its name. You will find some unnamed graves inside this tomb. The architecture is appealing and there are always birds chirping and singing inside which make you feel they are singing inside yoir head with the echoes. But like the Bada Gumbad this place is also in ruins. I wish government took measures and save these gems in the city.

  • Amar Jeet

One of the best places in Delhi for family picnic, pre-wedding photo shoot, morning walk and evening walk. One can simply spend time with their family or friends on the lush green lawns. The tombs, the trees and the greenery all around will give a relaxing feeling. There is no entry fee and photography is allowed.

I was here couple years ago. In February, the cold season. Shish Gumbad is situated in the Lodhi Gardens in Delhi and the area where the tomb is situated was formally called village Khairpur. This place is is a tomv from the last lineage of the Lodhi family and is thought to have possibly been constructed between 1489 and 1517. All the structures are loveable. It's the wonderful historical place I've ever saw

Tranquil, joyful and beautiful is how one can describe the beautiful Lodhi gardens. Any time of year, any time of day it is a panacea to the soul. Shish Gumbad is one of the 3 ASI- protected tombs that are in the gardens. It gets its name due to the blue tiles which are used on the dome which glisten like glass in the sunlight. Remnants of these blue tiles are still there, though most have gone.

  • Sandeep Saneja

Shish Gumbad is a Historical Dome structure situated in the middle of Lodhi Garden. No one is sure whose tombs it houses. Really worn out stone sin the approach path - so be careful there. Surrounded by the lush greenery of Lodhi Gardens. Even in the middle of summer it is cooler than outside - though the guards there will not let you sit there for long!!

Good place. But the only problem are the Transgenders. Their harrassment is next level. I wish they don't go around giving shrap to every other person for not given them money. They are not satisfied with 20-30 rs...ask for 100/- rs

Also one of the good to see monuments in new delhi. If you like history and you are not dissapointed if something is not perfectly maintained and you can see the tooth of the time working on the elements or stones then this place will be fine for you. Its not so much visited by tourists or at least when we have been there it was mostly local people.

Sheesh Gumbad got its name from the turquoise & cobalt-blue glazed tiles that shined like glass on the monument. Only traces of the glazed tiles can now be seen on the outside. This square tomb topped with a dome was built between 1489-1517 & it houses the tombs of the unknown family belonging to the Lodhi dynasty.
