The Mingei museum is a must-see in Balboa Park. And the Mingei Shop is a wonderful exploration just after you finish viewing an exhibit. The shop features curated affordable items that carry on the theme of the current museum exhibit. That's what makes this store a worthy place to visit. Books, coffee mugs, art projects, and greeting cards are staple offerings. Many of the items offered are not easily found elsewhere, and some you wouldn't know existed unless you came here. Some are creative projects for kids that are both fun and educational. Most items are aimed for adults and are very enriching and tempting to bring home.

This is a nice place but slightly pricey. I would like to see some local artists' works for sale. It is disappointing as an educator the lack of discounts available to educators for our local venues.

If all the balayaged Instagramers owned a shop together, this would be the result.
