UPDATE: The response to my initial review that I was offered to go to a nearby hairdresser or to have the cut for free, is simply false. When I called, your initial response did not mention any health reasons, it was: "you have an appointment? Are you sure it's this Monday? I am sorry but I am far now, I can cut it another day", then you called my cell phone number and started with: "Are you ok? This is not nice what you did". What is not nice is for me to take time off, head to the salon, just to find it CLOSED. This is the truth and sometimes the truth isn't nice. Changes in schedule happen, people get sick, but you have to take accountability and let customers know at least 2 hours in advance (like the policy you have for cancellation). I have scheduled an appointment a couple of weeks prior to have my hair cut before my travel later this week. I take the time to schedule time off work to ensure I am there on time, only to find that the place is closed! I then call the salon in awe, then the person who answers who I believe is Adem, says something along the lines of: "I am sorry, it slipped my mind, I am now far but can cut your hair another day". That's extremely inconsiderate of people's time -- the first time I experience this lack of professionalism in Amsterdam. I had the reviews of this salon prior to making the appointment and did notice the cancellations, it looks like this is not a rare occurance. Being late, having little time, is understandable, but simply not opening the doors during hours of operation and not adhering to appointments is on a whole next level.

My experience today was not so nice. Upon arrival, 10 minutes earlier, my appointment was already being cancelled with an asumption that I was not going to come. Without further good morning or anything like a welcoming, I was told my haircut appointment could not go through becuase they don't cut curly hair, which I found stange because I booked a lady's wash, cut & blow and I even wrote a short message on the appointment website about my curly hair. Pity because it is a nice place and my previous visit a few years ago went very well. Today was just a very weird encounter.

I had half head highlights done at Singel hair, and Adem did a terrific job as you can see in the pictures. I am very happy with the highlights and toner treatment. On the plus side Adem is a beautiful human being and very friendly. I enjoyed the service a lot and will definitely come back again. I will recommend this salon to anyone in the Singel area. I have been coming to Adem regularly for over two years to get my hair cut and highlights done. He reliably does a fantastic job with my hair - I wouldn't trust anyone else with the highlights - and also offers a great service: friendly chats, nice drinks and a pleasant atmosphere. The salon is clean, quite and yet located very centrally.

Adem is a great professional who knows what he is doing when it comes to coloring and cutting hair. He took the time to color my damaged hair properly and styled and cut it beautifully. Not only does he give good haircuts and coloring, he is an overall nice guy who is fun to talk with at the hair salon. See you soon!

I have long blond hair with grey roots and Singel Hair did an excellent and beautiful job of helping integrate the grey with full highlights. Such attention to detail and really experienced hair artist, Adem is an artist, and a lovely person. I highly recommend!
