I have been coming here for years, my mother came here first before she died and I kept coming because I knew these people and they treated us fairly. However after today I'm not certain I will go back next year. It would be too long to explain everything but the gist of things is I went and got my taxes done and everything was fine. The old man in charge sat down quickly went through my taxes and showed how much I was probably going to get this year and everything and told me it would be 75 dollars to get it done. Fine I paid and left got my copy of the return and it was sent off. However I didn't know I was going to have to send in some more forms this year becuase of circumstances and niether did they but when I went back three weeks later it was busier and there was a line of people wanting to do their taxes. I waited patiently for my turn and when I talked to the man I told him I needed some more forms and I was able to get one of them myself but I needed him to get the other one. Now I think I might have been throwing too much information at him at once and so he just said let me take this and redo it and I'll get in touch with you. I call back 3 days later and am told that the tax return has been redone so I go in on Friday and they recharge me 75 dollars. Now I get that if you do a job you should pay for it but I also believe that if I am going to charge someone for a job I tell them what it's going to cost before I do it. I felt like I was rushed because he had other people in line and he didn't give me the time I really needed or tell me he was going to recharge me the price to redo the whole thing when really all I needed was two forms. I have to wonder if I had just gotten the forms would I have been charged the whole amount. I could have made an argument but I could tell I was getting angry and I didn't want to yell at a man who, well to be frank, looks like he should be retired or close to it. Like I said these people have been good to me so I would normally have given them 5 stars but after this experience I am giving them 3 if you go here in the future be sure to know how much your paying for when you get your taxes done and that you have all the information. It might be best to wait a month and not go super early to get them done like I did.

Well, most reviews you read often start with I never wrote a review before but because of the service I received bad or good I just had to tell people. I recently read the reviews on South Austin Tax Service its a shame that we use the reverse of that old saying reward in public correct in private. We start to correct in public and reward in private. Anyone can say thank you, but to send a card, write a positive letter of any sort is unheard of today. However the minute a less than great experience happens we let the world know about it. In reading the less pleasant reviews about South Austin Tax Service. We forget to give a little respect toward the hard work and dedication South Austin Tax Service provides for our community. Individuals who say they been going to this company for years and then write about the unpleasant experience they had on maybe the 3rd years. I did not notice any positive feedback the prior years that they supposedly had service rendered with South Austin Tax Service. This company is dedicated to provide great service to any customer who needs returns completed at a fair price. I have never experienced anything less than kindness and generosity from Kristen. I am positive if any concerns ever came up because of an error or service I received Kristen would resolve it as quickly as possible. My fathers returns and my returns along with my family's returns have always been completed here for years. I as well should have wrote a review years ago. I thank you for the great service you provide for your community. If you had your returns done here more than once than you liked it. Don't let the big companies run out the small company who are here for us.

Kristen might be the worst person I have every dealt with from any kind of professional service. She did my taxes and afterwards, I had a few questions on how my income was calculated as it showed way more income than I have actually received along with a few other things that I don't know where the numbers came from. I asked a question through their web portal and got back a cryptic document with scribbles all over that were not easy to follow and made absolutely no sense. I kept asking for time to talk through the web portal and leaving messages for weeks that went completely ignored. I finally stopped into the office one day thinking I would get clarity as I had a couple of other questions to ask that were not in her previous unintelligible response. She almost immediately became rude and argumentative and acted like a crazy person. I guess you have to take what she gives you and you are not allowed to questions. She said that she spent her hour on me and wasn't going to spend more. At one point she even said "I'm not explaining the tax code to a cave man." - I guess referring to my beard? Knowing that I was not going to get clarity from her, I asked for a refund (never pay until the job is done), as I was going to have to go to another tax professional to have them redone. She refused and said that I would have to file a dispute with my credit card company. The whole experience was absolutely insane and in some ways was a little traumatic. NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GO HERE

3 days ago i walk into this place an older man gave me an estimate on my tax return. And said he could do my taxes for $50 . I said great but wanted to check some other places before making a decision on which place to go to . Today i go back and i told him if he could do my taxes and he said sure after calculating my tax return he said ill so your taxes for $75. I asked him : "Just 3 days ago you said it was going to be $50?" He said that must of been earlier this tax season. I said okay thats fine go ahead and do them. He staked all my papers together and said no theres a place that will file your taxes for free on stassney and westgate ...... & handed me my papers I said ummm its okay, you can go ahead and do them ill pay the 75 dollars . He said " NO THEY'LL DO THEM FOR FREE" i looked at my fiance and we were in shock of how ugly this man was being to me. I took my papers and left . I went to the place he had mentioned and wow i met the most nicest people ... And they sure did help me file my taxes and for free .

If I weren’t so mad, I could laugh about this. Maybe I will one day. I submitted my taxes in mid April and was told my tax return should be submitted by end of April. It is now mid June and I’ve heard nothing. I sent an email mid May about the status and never received a response. You try to call and get no answer and there is no option to leave a voicemail. I sent another email. Nothing. Another email. Finally someone answered and gave me some excuse like there’s a “merger” but wouldn’t answer any questions about the status of my taxes. I set up an appointment through the client portal for today at 3. Well; what do you know? I show up and the doors are locked! And of course no one is answering the phone. For the love of God, don’t go here. I was also told they filed an extension for me but doubt that happened either. These people are liars and frauds. I’m just hoping I’m not penalized by the IRS for their laziness and incompetence.

Do not go to this place! They're rude, incompetent and you'll never hear from them. They think because they charge people $75 they can treat people like total garbage, this place you get exactly what you pay for. They had my documents for two weeks and didn't even look at them they kept stringing me along telling me they would call me in a week. One week came and went, never heard from them went there to check on the status of my tax return they said they needed a couple more days. Went back, on the day that they promised. Still haven't looked at my taxes. I demanded my documents back and they told me to get lost. Unbelievable. The old man is extremely rude if you try to ask for any tax advice and his daughter is even more rude. I made the mistake of recommending this place to some friends and they more or less got the same treatment.

I came here from 2014 to 2019 to get my income taxes paperwork done, but in 2019 they submitted my tax return wrongly and for the amendment they charged me and extra $50 (in addition to the initial $120), then I got a letter from ISR indicating my paperwork was not accurate, hence I have to go back and ask these people to review and ammend again and I guess they will want to charge me once more. I have to pay for their mistakes. I will just get my paperwork to be well done this time, After that I will never be back to this place again. Jerry is so rude when you ask questions, definitely he is not anymore in good attitude to provide a good service. I will never come back to this place, this guy is done, not able to keep up his business.

I tried calling their office multiple times, leaving messages, to make an appt. to get my taxes done and she never responded and the website was not available for a long time. When I was finally able to access the website to make an appt. there weren't any available. I went to the office to try and get a walk in appt, since they have state on the website that those are welcome. The office was closed and I called to see if they were going to open soon and she gave me such attitude about just showing up 2 days before taxes were due. I have gone to South Austin Tax Service for years, but I will no longer be going and would not recommend them to anyone. She was very unprofessional and rude!

These folks have been helping three generations of my family and I love their services. First off the recognized me even though they hadn’t seen me since I was a kid, they remembered my parents and asked if they were liking New Mexico, how my Dad’s health was and how my mom was doing. They also asked how my grand parents were doing(see? Three generations). I loved that they remembered my family and me so well. At the time my taxes were complicated because of some stuff from my college and they not only filed it and made sure I got as much money back as possible, but they ALSO explained what they were doing so that I would be able to understand it better in the future. Great service.

It’s been over a month now & they still haven’t emailed me any details on my tax return. Not organized at all. No one in that office doors locked. Update*** it’s been 5 weeks they just now called me back to tell me it hasn’t even been filed. A week ago the same guy said yes I see you are getting a check..i said no I chose direct deposit. He continued to play along saying oh yes I see that. Now he said he didn’t file them yet. They also lost my sons social security card or claim they did. The lady asked me to drop it off because they were so busy & claimed it was in a (safe) when I gave it to them.

My husband and I have been loyal customers for years. We called earlier in the week and asked if we could walk in this weekend. We were told yes, but when we came in (drove all the way from dripping springs), were told that must have been a mistake and they were booked for the season, so couldn't help us. You would think that a family run business would value their loyal customers, but they obviously do not. We won't be returning.

I called in today to get some general questions answered since this will be my first time filing taxes on my own. Kristen answered and was able to consult me over the phone on my next steps, and it felt like I was talking to a friend. She was so helpful and knowledgable. I highly recommend working with these experts! Looking forward to growing our working relationship together.

Submitted my taxes 2 months ago, left a message for a call back month and a half ago. Kept calling and voice not set up anymore. Finally came by in person today and the office is closed. This is very disappointing to me since I have used them in the past and were great. I don’t know what happened but Just by the look at the past 4 month reviews they all had similar experience.

Since Keith left the place has been falling apart. Kristen is very rude to the customers and her schedule is really messed up. Don't expect your appointment to be at the right time. You got to wait for 2 hours. According to her walk-in's are a big mistake. If you enjoy getting treated rudely , be my guest and visit her.

I have been going here for three years..Kristen and Gordon are great.. They are fast and courteous and she even gave me a discount...Ridiculously low rate compared to H&R block across the street..Five years ago I stuck for over 200.00 for 1 page return...avoid those big chains like the plague.

I've been going to South Austin Tax for a few years now but previously they were called Heston Tax and I have been going to them for over 11 years. They are kind, professional, affordable and are able to explain and answer any of your tax related questions. They have my highest recommendation.

Kristen is amazing! I work in real estate and my taxes are a handful but she did an amazing job and she was super fast and efficient and charged me half of what the monopoly H&R BLOCK would. She is such a sweetheart and I can’t say enough good things about this place!

The lady I spoke with this morning was so rude and hang up on me. I was just making a follow up on my tax filing. Left all my paper works with them last Tuesday. I understand that she's busy and I appreciate them. But being rude is just unacceptable.

They stole my child’s social security card! Do not go here the lady upfront asked me to leave it and that they will keep it in a safe ..they pretended to look for it and NEVER GOT BACK with me about it disappearing inside a safe!!!
