Fantastic experience treating a cat with urinary obstruction/FLUTD/PU surgery. Thank you to the entire team for helping my cat Maximus! Backstory: My cat was required a catheter and inpatient stay twice within a week at another vet hospital due to urinary obstruction. The second time he was blocked, the previous vets were not forthcoming or clear about what the problem was but recommended PU surgery (and were strongly hinting at euthanasia, citing how sad and stressful this disease is for both the cat and owner). I became frustrated with substandard service at this other vet and questioned if they had the skills and knowledge to help my cat. I had started to grieve as it seemed hopeless and never ending. I sent a bunch of emails to various surgical veterinarians in Melbourne. Tamara from Southern Animal Health called me shortly after with a quote and surgical availability in a couple of days. The receptionist was very friendly, as was the initial vet Dr Daniel that I consulted with. It was clear that the vet had familiarised himself with notes and history from the previous animal hospital. Before surgery I received a call from the Dr Marcus expressing some concerns and theories based off the reports from the other vet. He was highly knowledgeable and forthright that surgical risk/risk of complications post surgery/cost could potentially be avoided as he may recover with a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatories, and other medications. He gave me some time to think it through but I opted to proceed with the PU surgery as I believed it would improve his overall quality of life and reduce his psychological distress - resulting in lowered overall stress in a multi cat household and lowered risk of future large vet bills associated with blockages. They respected and supported my decision. After surgery they provided me with regular telephone updates about my cat and his recovery. I felt 100% confident that the vet nurses, veterinarians, and surgeons were highly educated, trained, and competent at their jobs. Despite the travel distance, I will continue to take my cats here for treatment and routine care as I fully trust their expertise and level of care. Not once did I feel as though they were trying to gouge me for money - quite the opposite, they were extremely generous with their time and treatment. I am very thankful for that. They went above and beyond to treat my cat, I feel as though they actually cared and were invested in him recovering. Their surgical fees for the PU were less than 50% of those at a large not for profit animal hospital in North Melbourne. The quote for a potential cystotomy was also significantly cheaper. I would highly recommend them as a regular vet, but also in an emergency or when looking for a skilled but affordable surgeons. The whole team is wonderful and I cannot thank them enough.
SAH have always provided the utmost care for our beloved pets and I have always felt safe leaving them there when they have needed to go under sedation. We have been going to SAH 6 years now when we moved to the area and wouldn't dream to take them elsewhere unless referred by SAH. A year and 4 months ago our little Callie one night didn't want to go for a walk and stopped eating, as always SAH squeezed us in the next day and recommended an ultrasound as it sounded like a heart murmur. The ultrasound was two days later and the wonderful surgeons found a mass in her stomach and gave me a call as they could arrange to do the surgery then and there which we opted to do. The surgeons Dr Nick Huton and Dr Karin Davids did such an incredible job, considering the state Callie was in the surgery was performed with clean margins, perfect stitching that she bounced back almost immediately at home. Along with help from Oncology and the monitoring from the vets it took 1 year and 2 months for the cancer to spread from the metastatic lymph node. In that year she had an incredible time pain free, happy, eating and lots of tail wags and the cancer wasn't spreading. I see a few negative comments about pricing and I find the pricing is very fair considering they can perform complex life saving surgeries in house, ultrasounds in house and so on. I am sure the all the equipment in house is incredibly expensive to purchase and maintain, vets are not subsidized by the government health care that is the reality. All of the vets I have met it is obvious their priority is their patients and providing the best standard of care. I appreciate how empathetically all the vets communicate bad prognosis to clients as I am sure it is such a difficult thing to do and they do it well. Dr Amelia was so great with us and allowed Callie's sister in the room for euthanasia. I can't imagine how hard it would be to put clients pets to sleep peacefully in such an emotional situation and we appreciate it. Dr Nick Huton and Dr Nathan Fitzgerald have been so compassionate and helpful in the last month. All the vets including Dr Daniel and Dr Mike thank you too. Thank you to all the lovely nurses and receptionists that answered my emails/phone calls with care regarding medications and appointments. You all do wonderful compassionate work which we are SO grateful to have the level of care available. I always receive a follow up call from the nurses after visits for both my dogs. It is not an easy thing to do as I see how busy it is with nation wide vet shortage and can only imagine each call adds more to the plate. so. 5 stars from me :) love Lauren and Colin
As the organiser of an animal rescue charity I've had many dealings with veterinary practices, both in Australia and the UK and without doubt 'Southern Animal Health' is one of the best I have ever come across. Not only are all of its staff a credit to both the profession and the practice itself but they genuinely care about the animals. We have had numerous dealings with them, all of which have been examples of a team that go above and beyond but the reason for this review is due to one of the most compassionate experiences I have ever experienced from a practice. We recently took in a senior chihuahua who's life has been plagued with heath problems, of which, with the help of Southern Animal Health, we have managed to get him through each one. His latest episode though, see him go down hill very quickly, with us being within minutes of losing him. I have never seen a team rally together in such unison, all working at getting this 10year old, 1kg chihuahua back on his feet, with the main focus being on his comfort and well being. Over two weeks later and no more nails or tears left, we have a very happy feisty little guy, that is certainly not ready for his story to end. I honestly believe that without the experience, time, effort, compassion and sheer determination of Marcus and his team, this little guy would not be here today. I am always grateful every time we visit but for this I and the rest of the team will always be eternally grateful. If you and your fur kid are lucky enough to be a client here, then you know what I mean, if not, I cannot stress enough what the the difference between your usual vet practice and these guys is. Just go and visit them, you'll soon see what I mean. In the meantime, from me personally, thank you Marcus, Mike, Tim, Geraldine, Tseung, Evie, Shannon, Stephanie, Hannah, Rachel and Natalie. I am sure I have forgotten somebody but thank you again for the care and compassion you show to all of our fur kids but especially for going so far above and beyond for Pablo. He will return the thanks with a nip no doubt!
My pug visited the clinic multiple times and was prescribed a combination of different medications of which did not help. He was inevitably hospitalised and kept overnight. Four days after discharge I have received no follow up on his condition. Communication was extremely poor throughout the entire process and I felt the care factor was minimal considering the ongoing issues we were experiencing. We still have no concrete diagnosis and I will be going elsewhere if the issue continues. I don't often write reviews but would like to warn people so they do not have the same stressful and disappointing experience, especially in relation to their much loved pets. EDIT: we ended up seeking a second opinion and within 2 hours the new clinic diagnosed our pug with terminal cancer. The cancer had spread everywhere. We had to put him to sleep. It is mind-blowing that this was not picked up upon hospital admission to Southern Animal Health. I also received several highly distressing emails following this review from the clinic, which placed blame on me for the failings of the clinic. Very much in line with the responses you see on the other critical reviews. Despite my many attempts to call and speak with a senior staff member I have received no return call and eventually received an email which terminated service with me. I informed the clinic manager that my dog was terminal and have not received any response whatsoever. I strongly urge anyone to reconsider attending this practice as I am completely traumatized and heartbroken from the experience.
In response to your comment the attitude and behavior of your vet was appalling. I had 2 appointments and arrived at 15:44 as per my check in with prior notice to reception I was running late. I had essentially an hour appointment reduced to 45 minutes. but still refused to treat. At the time of booking I informed them of the reasons for the appointment and there was no mention of a need for extended appointments (from experience now at other vets they were not complex issues requiring extended appointments).I was in no way rude just stunned by the absolute disregard for the welfare of my dogs by the vet in question Nathan. On the day after I left I did receive a call from yourself informing me had not been handled well by the vet and offering additional appointments however my preference moving forward is to have my animals treated by professionals with a focus on animal welfare and customer service not money. To see them denied vet care due to arrogance was heartbreaking, with the vet refusing to even treat one dog despite me essentially arriving early for that appointment. I want my animals to be treated with respect and dignity. Please be honest in your responses- I was in no way rude but chose to leave the clinic due to the appalling unprofessional interactions I had with the vet in question.
I have to say that this is the best Vet in Melbourne. I cannot express my gratitude enough for the way in which they have cared for my greyhound through major surgery and supported us as concerned owners. Between the initial visit to the Vet on this occasion, to the Surgery that took place, everything occurred seamlessly and without the stress of having to wait. Post Surgery, they went above and beyond the call of duty, ringing me up with updates on how my dog was progressing several times a day. Once my dog was discharged from the Vet (2 days after Surgery) they continued to call me to follow up how he was progressing. They are always available when we ring them with updates and concerns and they continue to give us the reassurance we need to get through our ordeal. My partner and I would highly recommended them to pet owners searching for a reputable Vet and highly value their expertise and their genuine love of animals. From the Vet Nurses to the Veterinary Surgeon's and everyone in between, thank you for the positive experience thus far. Whilst we still have a little way to go, we know that we are in very capable hands. Thank you for your kindness and support. Couldn't have made it through without falling to pieces if it weren't for having you there every step of the way.
I just don’t understand the people who are taking down notes about the animals and such. One time I came in for my cats first vaccination and when I got my forms back, they had put her down as a Canine. May not sound like a big deal but nonetheless if the receptionists can’t tell between a cat and a dog, I’d be concerned. They have also previously gotten my cats breed and colour wrong on a form, which once again not a super big deal but again, you can clearly see what colour my cat is. But today I received a letter in the mail (addressed to me) telling me that my “male cat Oompa is due for their vaccine”…. My cat is a Female named Nugget…. I don’t know how so many admin mistakes can be made?? A couple of weeks ago I accidentally missed an appointment (my fault) however they never called me on the day to let me know that I didn’t show up to the appointment (which i would have if they called) and instead of contacting me over the phone, i received a letter TWO WEEKS later saying I missed the appointment. Wouldn’t you call your patients as a courtesy if they did happen to forget or miss an appointment?
It says a lot about a company when they spend so much effort to argue against any and every bad review instead of taking notice of customers concerns and getting better. Their replies to the reviews should give you a good understanding of who you’re dealing with. Our experience of this place is horrendous. This is the first time in all my years of pet ownership that I’ve left a bad review on a vet. Usually vets are caring. Usually I’m thanking them profusely for all they did to help my pet. Southern Animal Health fees are more than the emergency vet in Moorabbin and this is because they do a lot of unnecessary work. My little dog was shaking when I picked them up and I don’t think they were given any kindness during their time there. There is so much they did wrong. The thousands of dollars they charged us is more than we’ve even been charged for so little work by any vet in the past. I wrote this review because I still feel sick at the thought of what happened there and hope to save someone else from the same heartache. These guys want profit. They don’t care about you or your pet.
My experience with Southern Animal Health started off great, but has quickly deteriorated. Whenever we went to the vet we were prescribed Prednisone for him. Every single time. For a bloodshot eye, for a tail graze, everything. And a simple Google search states that this drug shouldn’t be used sparingly. It culminated in a vet again prescribing the drug, this time without even giving my dog a taper off course. Again, a quick Google search strongly suggests this should be done. Many articles online go as far as to say it MUST be done to avoid dangerous withdrawal symptoms. This has resulted in my dog being lethargic, not drinking and seriously unwell from withdrawals - something that could have been completely avoided and caused a lot of unnecessary stress. And what made matters worse, when I called the clinic to ask to speak to a vet, they said they’d call me back. Never called back and I had to basically harass them to speak to a vet. Really disappointed. Won’t be returning.
Unfortunately we had a bad experience here. It was a Sunday followed by a public holiday but still the cost of $2700 to treat our dog for gastro seemed like a lot! We had no choice but to go on a Sunday due to a death in the family on the Thursday and delaying the visit. They only offered us one treatment plan. We trusted them. When we were leaving they charged us twice for the consultation fee and I had to show them my receipt to get a refund. Honest mistake I’m sure but still played into the very money-money experience of going to Southern Animal Health. They didn’t seem very concerned for anything but money TBH Apparently, we paid for antibiotics but they forgot to give them to us. We only found out three days later when we got the blood results and they said, ‘by the way the medication is here for you.’ Why didn’t someone call us straight away? I bet if we hadn’t paid they would have. Anyway, for us, this was an extra horrible event in a very bad week. Never again.
Always had a great experience with all the vets and team at SAH, I have been taking my pets here for just over a year now. Last year my bulldog had a couple of lumps and I went to my regular vet who was just trying to get more money out of me than find the real reason to diagnose my bulldog, I had put a post in bulldog group i follow on fb and Dr Marcus Hayes respond and I called him for a quick chat the next morning we were booked in for a free consult and my bulldog was taken in for surgery the same day. The whole process was easy and stress free and I knew my bulldog was in great hands, the follow up and check in calls were amazing this vet actually cares and not just in it for the money like alot of other vets out there! I have also taken my cat here as she had been limping around and was told she had arthritis. The team were very good with her and treatment has been a success for the last 9 months! Thanks for being such a wonderful caring Vet centre! :)
Paint themselves as Bulldog Experts, they are far from it. They are a sales machine trying to drain as many $ out of each person who walks through the door, this is not about animal care, its about numbers and profits! Went in to get a boas consult on my French bulldog, pressure upsell to 5 surgeries that aren't necessary, talk down to by "head surgeon" even though I've owned bulldogs for 20 years and this isn't my first rodeo....couldn't answer direct and hard questions as to their practice, instead said they were offended and that they only take "submissive" clients who will "work well" with their surgeons. totally dismissed my concerns and wishes for my dog including my own vets recommendation. Was told that my line of questioning was offensive! was booked in for a consult that wasn't needed, was told by a supposed vet that an actual Boas consult would need to be done under a general aesthetic! Goes on and on DODGY UNSCRUPULOUS AVOID AT ALL COSTS
10/10 we were referred to Southern Animal Health Veterinary from our local vet for the BAOS ( soft pallet ) surgery for our chow chow. Words cannot express the happiness seeing our gorgeous girl breathe normally for the first time. Her overall health after the surgery has been incredible. Her eyes are fully open and clear, her coat is shinier, no more ear/eye infections and no heavy breathing. Within the 2 weeks post surgery she is more active and appears to be so much happier. Her snoring has stopped and her personality is so at ease. SERIOUSLY THE BEST MONEY WE HAVE SPENT. to see your family member healthy and thriving. From the results we are seeing even in such a short period of time we would highly recommend this surgery for any dog with airway/soft pallet issues. The team at S.A.H were fantastic! Words can’t say thank you enough for literally chAnging our gorgeous girls quality of life. Yours sincerely Jason and Gary, Opal and Rupert.
Money hungry and careless, do not recommend this clinic at all. I was made to wait with my cancer stricken paralysed crying in pain cat that needed to be seen and put to sleep urgently in waiting room for an hour because I had no appointment! Other non urgent customers went through to see vet while I was made to wait! The other customers looked at me in disbelief that my cat was crying in pain while they were ushered into their appointments. Trying to do what’s humanly right by my cat and yet the staff have no respect for this. I am so traumatised by what happened and to add insult to injury they wanted payment upfront so I did not leave without paying!! Disgusting end to a beautiful life. The vet was wonderful however front desk dark haired you know who you are stay away from her and this clinic!!! Disgusting front desk, disrespectful and rude with no understanding or compassion for life
We have been attending SAH since we got our lil fur baby, Noodle, since 2009. She has had a few battles along the way. Two operations for removal of bladder stones & found out she has two heart murmurs a few years ago. Every single time we've attended SAH we, the parents & our baby girl have been looked after with the utmost care & compassion! Even during covid I was blown away by their attention to all pets & owners. Due to your care & the information given our fur baby, although 13, is as cheeky & gorgeous as ever!! Thank you for everything that you all do. From the wonderful receptionists, caring nurses & amazing vets, THANK YOU! I am saddened that hours have been reduced, but I completely understand that there's been a shortage of vets & to keep up your amazing efforts you need to look after yourselves. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas & we will see you in the New Year
I had to make the heart wrenching decision to have my dogs leg amputated as he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Where most vets would have taken any owner for a ride, selling them on multiple scans, specialists etc (all of which could have totalled $20k) Marcus did not. He’s empathetic but super strategic and a straight shooter. I spoke to three vets before Marcus & none were anywhere near on his level or gave me the right advice, which he did. The operation was seamless, the nurse Steph Locandro is the best in the game. She cares, she loves animal and she’s a brilliant nurse. All in all, I will never trust any animals I own with any other vet. These guys are a cut above the rest.
Always lovely to interact with. Have been helping me care for my cat with ongoing check ups and by dispensing medication after becoming ill in 2019. Was told by another vet that he wouldn't make it, and they refused to teach me how to administer fluids from home. I read up on his condition, and although his outcome seemed bleak, there was information on ways to manage it, or at least help him feel better. I'm very glad to have gone to Southern Animal Health for a second opinion after being home and seeming brighter, and thankfully my cat is still here today, healthy and happy and doing normal cat stuff. Thank you all so much!
Southern Animal Health reached out to me to provide valuable information on assessing my dogs appropriateness for surgery when I was considering euthanasia. I am extremely grateful for them reaching out and providing such instrumental information that my dog would be a good surgical candidate even at 13 years of age. I’m also very thankful for the free consultation that was provided on her in assessing her suitability for surgery, the different tumour types, success rates and costs for different types of surgery. If I had not seen them I may not have considered surgery. Thanks SAH for your compassion and thoroughness.
Amazing care for our gorgeous little girl Minka who destroyed her cruciate ligament at nearly 15yo. Marcus was our initial contact and gave us the knowledge and plan Minka needed. He explained step by step which was so appreciated. Our regular vet hadn't given us any real guidance. Karin performed her surgery and she did an incredible job. Highly recommend her as a top class surgeon. 12 weeks after her TPLO surgery she is back living her best life, walking and running and we are so grateful. So hoping we get a few more years with her. Thankyou so much Karin, Marcus, Mike and team From the Jennings family
My darling kitty had a reaction to a bite and needed assistance. The vets were very busy but managed to squeeze me in. Staff were super friendly, helpful and the kitty cubby relaxed my tiger before his diagnosis. Cats and dogs are separated into different spaces in the waiting room to reduce anxiety for all animals. The vet did not waste time during diagnosis and knew exactly the options for Tora (*boy cat).. He is improving daily. Best of all I was given options for future treatment and worked out a plan for his recovery with the vet. I believe that they genuinely care for the welfare of all animals.
Marcus and his team are the best vets I've dealt with since getting my pup Harlow. They're extremely reliable, professional, and best of all, they tell you how it is including making sure you won't have to pay for any unnecessary treatment. They tell you approximately how much it's going to cost upfront and why they're recommending that course of treatment so you can make an informed decision, also giving you confidence to focus on your pets health rather than worrying how much it's going to cost and whether the treatment is necessary. I recommend Southern Animal Health to all my friends and family!
Always professional & caring with all of my animals. Taking time to explain issues and comfortable with treatment plan with compassion. From my cat who had to have a leg amputated & the vet calling to let me know she would be fine with 3 legs. Treating my dog for cancer and finding the most non invasive wat for an older dog which gave us 4 more years, then to help us see her over the rainbow bridge when the time came during Covid. Along with other ailments that my 2 cats & 2 dogs have had over the years, also find that their prices are reasonable compared to other clinics.
The staff are very friendly and helpful but am most impressed with the vets professionalism and genuine concern for animal welfare rather than over treatment for the sake of services. We brought our cat here for a second opinion after seeing a different vet who was less than transparent about a treatment plan that would have subjected our cat to stressful procedures. The vets here took a different approach and cat only had to have 2 visits with the second one just to follow up. Brilliant vets, discusses what they see in the animal and explains treatment well.
My dog Lola recently had surgery to remove a bone fragment from her intestines. She stayed at the clinic for 2 days and during that time the updates and communication that i got from the team was exceptional. They took care of her like she was their own and were extremely loving and professional. Over the course of the following week i took Lola in for a checkup and no matter which vet i saw, they were all well informed about her case. I felt 100% comfortable at all times and the entire team are wonderful. Big Thankyou to the Southern Animal Health Team.
Marcus and his team are truly amazing. The staff are warm and welcoming and make you feel at home. we all love our pets like family and i can honestly say i feel safe leaving my 14 year old dog 'midge' there in their safe hands. the pricing is very reasonable and the quality of care is A grade. We have been using southern animal health for years now and could not imagine going anywhere else. The new state of the art clinic is amazing!!!! I would highly recommended this clinic to anyone.
I am so glad I found about SAH, I will not bring my pet dog Tofu anywhere else. They will not take advantage of you, as prices were half compared to other vets and everything was explained with no hidden costs. Marcus and his team are the most genuine animal lovers, they have a number of specialists that have rich knowledge and equipment all in one place. They even went the extra mile and sent videos and updates after hours/weekends of how my pet was doing keeping my mind at ease.
Just took my dog to the vet to get her stitches out, which they did in no time at all. She had a minor operation and her teeth cleaned. What an awesome job they did. She is fully healed. And even her breathe doesn't smell anymore as well as her teeth being pearly white. I highly recommend and as Ive been using them for a few years now, I know they are consistent in affordable prices, very helpful, very friendly and very experienced at what they do. Awesome job, thank you again
Look no further for knowledgeable and compassionate vets. My family have unfortunately had to use their services a few times for urgent pet health matters over the years and they provided exceptional care to both animal patients and their humans. Reasonably priced for their high standards of service too and they have great extended hours allowing appointments well beyond normal business hours. Even though I have moved out of the area, I still travel to take my dog here.
After contacting pet medical crisis for help I was referred here. It was my first time and everybody was so lovely and informative. While I was waiting for Sasha my 15yr old chi-pom to have a tooth extracted I was very anxious as this is the first time we have been seperated. The girls at the front made me feel at ease and dr dan kept me in the loop at all times and the after care from everyone was great. This vet is the gold standard of how all other vets should be.
I love Southern Animal Health and all the friendly staff that work there. They are all very attentive, professional and experienced. Dr Marcus Hayes goes above and beyond for his clients and their beloved pets. I've see it with my own dogs and also with family friends pets. There has never been a time I've gone in, that I haven't felt happy and completely content with their level of care and service. I'd recommend this clinic again and again and again.
2 stars as they were able to identify the issue with our dog and assist with his care. However the charge for the service they provided was astronomical compared to other vets we've used in the past (there was also some double charging that had to be sorted out, just as well we were paying attention to everything). I'd recommend going here if you can't get an appointment elsewhere & it's an emergency, but if you do scrutinise your bill very closely.
Have seen a few different vets here and the service each time is different but we have found we are most happy with Dr Mike. Their knowledge and understanding for French bulldogs is great and we wouldn’t take our frenchie anywhere else! The last few times we have come in though with a skin issue has resulted in lots of test which have been done multiple times and still we haven’t been given a diagnosis for our dog over $700 later.
This is a really wonderful clinic. It's clean, things run on time, and there is a general vibe of professionalism about the place. There are a lot of vets, so it can be tricky to get continuity, but the follow up and support we've received while working through a chronic health issue for our dog has been fantastic - daily phone calls, reviews of evidence, and lots of support for me while I learn to best prepare for what's ahead.
Personally, I think this Vet is brilliant. We currently go to a different one for all of our animals and have mostly used this one for after hours services and they have been very accommodating. We have now decided to change as we feel we get more information from these guys when taking our pets there and they always tend to follow up the next day leaving us confident they actually care. Highly recommend for your furr babies
The Only Reason I went there was due to an Animal Rescue that was given Reduced Neutering prices. I then entrusted them to be able to help with health issues I have with my Assistance Dog Not only was the Vet 'Terrified' of my Bull Arab X, he has exacerbated one of his skin problems!!! I also had to pay a $92 Pre-appointment Fee, but they had to be 'reminded' of said Fee at Checkout
The service we received in the care of our very sick dog was excellent. We had been to another vet first that was outrageously expensive and our dog got sicker following their advice. Dr. Mitchell was so professional and the fees were very reasonable for the time spent examining and running tests. Our options were explained well. Happy to report our doggie is healthy and happy again.
I did have 3 stars and think the vet is good. But it's money up front before the booking is confirmed. But when you pay its all good. The reason I removed a star is the girl that rings you and rings you to talk too you about your Star rating. It's our vote on stars its a democracy freedom of speech. Let your paying patrons rate you as they see fit. Thank you. Pls don't call me.
Very impressed with excellent care and knowledge that all the staff had. I took my dog here who had been lame for a long time and no other vet could work out why. Three vets came together to look over my dog, and found the cause of the lameness, without the need of expensive CT scans. Very affordable and genuine care for animals. Would highly recommend Southern Animal Health.
We've been going to SAH for a few years for all of our foster dogs and they have always been wonderful. We now have an adopted rescue and he loves the vet! The vets have been efficient, honest and friendly, and the reception staff have always been friendly as well. We are moving away from the area next year, but we will definitely continue coming to SAH!
Basically an animal hospital. I take my dog to this premises as its 24 hours and has two or more vets on duty. They also have a satellite facility on Center Dandenong Rd in Dingley Village. Its well staffed with nurses, good sized waitin.g room. They have toilet facilities, onsite car parking. They are a bit expensive but are very accessible
Overly impressed with the opening hours and quick/kind service. Having never been there before I called in an emergency with my cat today(on a Sunday when most vets are closed) and got in within the hour. The staff were all great and caring and knowledgeable. They were super upfront any costs which I found reasonably priced as well
Took our 16 month old Frenchy here after being recommended by our local vet. Issues with snoring, shortness of breath and vomiting after exercise. Had BOAS surgery after thorough examination and detailed explanation of the procedure. Results were outstanding and he is a different dog. Great communication and very experienced vets.
My frenchie Bark Knight had his BOAS surgery through this clinic and Karen did a fantastic job. Marcus has been amazingly supportive both before and after in giving guidance and advice. Could not be more pleased with how everything has turned out and would not hesitate in recommending them to all squish faced breeds.
What an excellent care team. We had a sick Burmese and they saw us very quickly. Dr Dan was thorough and patient with our cat, giving him a full review. Their nurse staff also did a follow up call the next day to make sure he was doing better. Prices are very reasonable compared to other vets that maybe charge more.
The vets and staff here were very caring of our little cat Freya and gave clear, informative, and honest advice on how to treat her. Sadly, there was nothing we could do to fix her chronic renal failure and was forced to say goodbye but I felt that the vets here did everything to help her in her final days.
Very informative and helpful. I’d been going to a few over the last 5 years and seemed to get no where with skin issue on my kelpie. Pills, creams, return visits $$$$ etc until this vet tells me there’s a safe injection that lasts 8 weeks for $140. Dog stopped scratching the next day. Will be going back.
Took our dog here last night after he ate a full block of chocolate. They were able to squeeze him in straight away, even though they were really busy, were incredibly kind, especially to our dog and we're very reasonably priced. Overall, great experience given the circumstances. Would highly recommend.
Very modern clean premises. As you would expect the receptionist and vet nurses were very friendly and helpful to both animals and humans alike! Definitely go there if you want your pet to receive fast professional care. Only slight downside is that the carpark is a little small and awkward to get to.
Poor communication. Surgery that wasnt required. Incorrect stitches. We would never ever set foot here again. Our dog is still limping 2 months later. Based on several other vet opinions the surgery wasnt required and was done poorly. We were warned about this vet and regret taking our dog there
What a fabulous caring vet clinic! I have taken 3 foster cats here and every time I get the same great service and follow up calls not matter who I talk to. They always seem to have availability and I love that they take such good care of my cats. I cannot recommend them enough!
Fabulous vet clinic. Very caring and professional assistance provided for our two dogs. If ever I am concerned about one of the pups, I can always get an appointment quickly. Very happy with their service. High quality of care combined with very convenient opening hours.
This practice is amazing ! They go above and beyond to give pets the best of care and the communication from the Vets to owners is just incredible . The nurses are compassionate and caring, nothing is too much trouble and I can not recommend SAH highly enough!
The team at SAH are thorough, professional and really know their stuff. I always walk away knowing our girl is in great hands and really appreciate their process and honesty. I highly recommend - you won't be disappointed. Keep up the good work guys!
Thank you for looking after my 2 boys Archie & Sam today. All the team at Southern Health have always provided my pets with the best care, support & advice for many years now & I know they’re in the best of hands. Very grateful for all that you do.
Exceptionally poor customer service...seemingly no care for animal's welfare. Very rude response when I advised had selected another vet to perform operation after waiting weeks for a response. Was rudely advised I should call not email...I
Southern animal health has always been so helpful to me and my animals. They are exceptional when it comes to the care of our furbabies and always gives the best advice suited to your situation. I would highly recommend the vet team at sah.
I visited Southern Animal Health in 2021 with my 13-year-old pugalier, who's had chronic ear yeast infections. After paying for tests, fees, and medications, they assured us we could just call for future medication. However, when the issue
They are hands down the best clinic in the south eastern suburbs. From the friendly reception staff to the professional vets with tailored service, I know my pets are in safe hands. They always give you writen, easy to follow instructions
The staff are extremely professional and have an excellent bedside manner. Some Vet clinics really place an emphasis on profit rather than care, this is certainly not the case with Southern Animal Health. I have had vets from this clinic
My poor JR pup Fergus this year has had the misfortune to be diagnosed with a generic hip disorder. The first (right) was investigated in December by Southern Vets …. after a series of X-rays and ant inflammatories the problems was not
I went to this vets for an urgent second opinion on my 16 year old Maltese's dental health. I felt really supported in my concern and received great advice and proactive help. The staff and vets were wonderful caring and knowledgeable.
Can't speak or recommend Southern Animal Health highly enough. They were amazing in treating my cat Violet for an emergency and their care was above par. Friendly staff who went out of their way to ensure Violet was well taken care of.
The best vet. Helped our pup in a huge crisis. Could not have been more kind, caring and helpful. Straight away I was able to bring my dog down to be attended to with his emergency. They even rang back the next day to check in on him.
Dr Marcus Hayes is one of the best Veterinarians around. Affable, knowledgeable and understanding. If you have bulldogs, I recommend him as someone to take your dog to and know that he will do the utmost for you and your dog.
Southern animal health helped us out with our lovely cat after another vet had no leads. We have now swapped over and will be taking our dog there as well. Lovely staff and always go beyond. Highly recommend!!
We took our cat here today and I can't recommend the vet we had highly enough. She took the time to calm him and make him feel at ease. Its the first time he has been at the vets and not tried to hide.
I cannot thank Marcus enough for his advice and guidance. We are based in the UK but Marcus has been an incredibly valuable source of information and has always been happy to answer my questions.
Thank you to the amazing staff who helped our dog who fractured her toe. Thanks for being there for our precious animals. Minnie is resting now and comfortable. THANKS SO MUCH - such lovely staff!
The vets n vet nurses are fantastic service and very friendly and caring. They are very helpful. My dog normally only eat at home, she ate chicken after her surgery. Give them 100/100!!!!
Overall good, kept my dogs in good health for 10 years but decided to move on because of turnover of staff, every time we visit we got a different vet, making it feel impersonal.
My dog was sent home and passed away 14 hours later. He was only 8. The veterinarians don’t show the appropriate care at this practice. Please avoid it for the sake of your pet.
Dr karin and the lovely nurses looked after my little chloe after she had major surgery, thank you just doesn't cover as to how amazing you all are Thank you all ❤️ Chloe ward..
Very, very, very good. I got calls twice a day from the Vets after returning home and then following up on cat's health thereafter. Really thorough in treatment and diagnosis.
Went here after my dog ripped one of his tendons. Reliable veterinarians. Price for surgery was steeper than others but meh, that's the life of a pet owner.
Dr Marcus is amazing, when so many other vets only cared about the money he cared about my girl. I cant thank you enough.
Jock is usually so scared to come in. He was so calm as Ur vet was awesome with him. Made our visit a positive one.
Wonderful and caring people that work here! Thank you SO much for the support you gave me
Great service with my Abbie. Good check on her health. Would recommend them to everyone
