This happened a couple weeks ago. In the past although wait times have been long triage staff used to take their job seriously and were quite considerate of what people were going through. When I came in, after they were done triaging someone, someone came up and because he was in distress and swearing, rather than anyone attempting to de-escalate him, they told security to kick him out the next time he swore. Which did not seem like a reason to kick someone out of an ER waiting room. Even other waiting room patients were thrown off by this. And they asked me why I was there and I told them I was just waiting to be triaged. Then they were gone for 45 minutes, no one at triage for 45 minutes and it started setting in that this was not like it has ever been. Usually triage would triage. Then after 45 mins they came back laughing hysterically with each other even when they started to triage me. It really all seemed like a joke to them. I wanted to share my story further but I could tell these people did not feel like the type you'd feel safe sharing medical issues with. I was very thrown off by this level of not caring about their job AT ALL. I told them I was going to go to a different ER (I have never seen this level of unprofessionalism at the St. B ER in the past). They seemed quite relieved to get rid of me. They could have at least pretended to care. I went to another ER and triage saw me very quickly and I'm not sure if they cared but they at least treated it like a real job, rather than a joke.

I was there last night with a fractured foot... nothing really special about it. Was taken care of in timely matter, professionally. My review and very special recognition is to ALL the staff members of the ER unit... the things and mostly , the people they have to deal with... during my brief “visit” I witnessed a couple of “patients” being blatantly rude, disrespectful and beyond stupid with the nurses and security staff... cursing, name calling... you get the idea... and they were getting help from them!... nevertheless, the staff were the better and civilized grown person every time... I had no idea who this people were, since you’re on a bed, with drapes all around you... all you can hear is those people being just stupid at the staff... once again, my respect and admiration for the nurses and security staff at the ER unit... you guys have the thickest customer-service core I’ve ever witnessed. Thanks for all you do.

After arriving by ambulance at 1:30 pm I waited 7 hours in ER waiting room on a stretch. No water, no food, no check up by nurse. When seeing a doctor 7.5 hr later it was realized that I better have my matter expedited. Had CT and Xray along with results in 40 mins. Make sure when you are waiting someone is checking on you as I did with Paramedics. Paramedic's in Manitoba do an incredible job! 5 Stars to the team that took me in on the 4th. One other note it's a hospital it should be sanitary.... this place is filthy. In addition to the dirt were the holes in the wall and TP holders off the wall - how does a person in wheel chair reach for paper. WE ARE NOT A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY PEOPLE WITH OUR HEALTH CARE SYSTEM. WE PAY ALLOT OF TAXES. MAKE SURE THE FED'S STARTS PUTTING IN THEIR 50% SHARE VS 25%. LETS FINE THE PEOPLE WE NEED TO CARE OF US WHO PAY INTO THE SYSTEM.

An idea at an emergency would be to treat it like it's important. No one asks what is wrong which they should do. Just sit. Whether you are having a heart attack a stab wound or a hang nail everyone sits amd waits without checking on any o e waiting g for severity. I understand waiting but serious cases should be seen fast!!!! A guy having severe chest pains had to leave left after waiting half an hour with out anyone asking what's wrong. He took a cab to go to hsc!!!!! This is how law suits happen. They dont even let you talk to them, if you try to talk to them to tell them hey I have been shot they will cut you off and say sit!!!! Is this how an emergency room works? Do you have to come in an am ulence to be treated properly?

most of the people here were really nice which i know isn’t always a priority but i felt okay talking to them. i also got to see my heart on an ultrasound which was REALLY cool i got all emotional like it was my baby or something. but i also got super lost trying to get there which i feel is important to be able to do when you’re having an emergency. and there were a few mean people, sorry. i get that your job is hard but also i am only asking you for another naproxen since i’ve been here for eight hours and the one you gave me then has worn off you do not need to be so condescending. i hope you heal from the compassion fatigue because i really do get it.

My husband had a cut in his hand at his job, and we went to emergency because all medical clinic and walk ins have been closed at 8:00pm. And he is diabetic and he was reached there at 8:30 pm and he have to wait uptill 2:00 am in the morning for the stitches. This is not emergency for those people. So so poor experience and service. Is this called emergency services they are providing to patients. When you have to wait 6 hours for stitches. I will give 0 ratings for services. What they people consider in emergency situation. The person hand is bleeding and still he have to wait for 6 hours.. so disappointed.

I wish I can give zero star. I went in at 11 am on sat. Male Nurses were extremely concerning and caring. waited for 7 hours just to hear from the doctor " We cant do anything everything is done by your specialist from diagnosis, treatment to prescribing medicine I was there because I have some serious emergency problem not to hear this .She was so rude and racist towards me. Please If you cannot treat at least show some sympathy or talk nicely fake it up, because we are there in emergency department already going through a lot mentally physically & internally. (BEWARE OF THIIS DOC SHE HAS CURLY HAIR)

i was having issues with my gallbladder and they were not listening to me at all. they only information they took was that i smoked a bit of weed 8 hours before going to the hospital and wrongly diagnosed me. only pumped me with morphine to stop the pain and sent me on my way after i woke up. how pathetic. no one’s issues are taken seriously and are stigmatized. also when i was crying out in excruciating pain, maybe having the new trainee nurse attempt 5 times to stick an iv in someone isn’t the best idea. do better.

It was already worst day of my life and then i decided to go to emergency, only to witness myself having my miscarriage in the waiting area washroom. And still expect to wait until they call you. Only taken inside when I pass out on chair from heavy bleeding and of-course waiting. I told them I was bleeding heavily when the nurse asked me to change and wait in the waiting area.

Certainly one of the worst days of my life. They call it an emergency unit but kept me waiting for my emergency for 11+ hours with no sign of a doctor. No food, had to ask for water. They weren’t even kind enough to call me a cab this late at night. I had to leave without getting any help. Absolutely disgusted.

I want to thank everyone who helped us today, especially Dr. Holly. My husband's shoulder was dislocated. We were accepted fairly quickly, everything was explained, rengen was done before and after, and recommendations were given for further rehabilitation. In general, we stayed in the hospital for 3 hours.

I went there late night for kidney stone pain in my lower right and nurse told me that you came to an emergency ward and your problem is not an emergency. She even told me that she has 40-50 patients waiting in line as if I went there for fun. I have worse experience with Canadian Medical system.

  • Lea-Ann

Went to emergency this morning with some alarming symptoms. What a great team. Right from the covid screeners at the door to the doctors and X-ray techs. They were efficient, fast and beyond professional. Thank you doctors and team for giving me piece of mind and a clean bill of health. ❤️

Accompanied my Mother to the emergency room, we arrived at 8 and ultimately didn’t leave until 1 am. Unfortunately they treated my Mother poorly and brushed off her issues as nothing of concern. Also with construction it’s really hard to find the emergency care entrance.

So after hours (11pm) u make ppl walk around entire building because u close the front doors. Then I have to take my 74 yr old mom all the way to visit her bests friend losing her husband. Then I find out u let some ppl in thru front door after we left.. crappy service

Waited 10 hours in an unpleasant environment before finally being connected with a doctor. Doctor was fine but the wait time was intolerable. Something needs to be done about this. Someone could die while waiting around!

  • Deborah Johnson (Humbaleena Jay)

I go there by ambulance blood pressure way to high 200/118 I sat in the disgusting waiting room for 5 hours then they told me that I have to wait another 9 hours Never again . I bused it home at night

  • Hannah Brown

Just went to get a cast for my foot waited for 6-7 hours and left my sister who is a nurse said that doctor were just sitting around no care in health care system

  • Christopher Simmonite

Fast friendly people who really love to help, but the only thing is the emergency room is disgusting, but I had to go by ambulance so was very fast to get a room!

  • James Beauchamp

Had to be treated in the ER during Covid. The (over-worked) nurses were attentive and caring. I had attended other ERs, and my experience at St B was very good.

  • Dan Pfiefer

Classic manitoba waitcare… this however isnt the fault of the hospital or its staff; doctor we spoke to was great once we sat through the wait.

  • Inder Sangha

  • Nate Golas

  • pi pi

Way, way way too slow, 2 person in front of me and it cost me more than 3 hrs waiting now. Still waiting.

  • Sylvia Cook

When we were there it was jam packed very scary wall to wall patients every thing was full.

  • Jane D'Arcangelo

The nurses care more about respectful work place then victims of crime. No empathy at all

  • Canaan Lowe

Great place for cardio issues they certainly help me out in the past I can tell u!

  • Karen Backman
