My daughter is a former employee of the Sugarloaf animal clinic. She had a continuously negative experience, but that's not what I’m here to discuss as that is her business if she would like to report on that it's up to her. I'm here to talk about my experience with Sugarloaf Animal Clinic. About a week ago my pup was going to be seen at another animal clinic for GI upset. I won’t go into detail. I contacted Dr. Rai's office multiple times on different days to get records. I understand that clinics get busy especially with COVID - 19 present. They knew my pup had an appointment elsewhere. However, it took Sugarloaf 4 days to get my records submitted to a different clinic. Unfortunately, I had to have my current clinic call Sugarloaf after I reached out numerous times. Finally, Sugarloaf sent the records over to my current hospital so that my pup could finally attend her appointment. Since my daughter previously worked here they know how fragile a state my dog was in, but halted the process of us seeing another vet anyways. Uncertain if it was due to actually negligence or if they forgot, but it held up the ability for my pup to be cared for sooner and made her wait for medical intervention. I was extremely disappointed with how they cared for my pup after my daughter left. I never did get an apology or explanation as to why records were never sent. When I asked for my pup’s records I also asked for my cat’s records and still haven’t received those. It’s been a week. Edit to PM - We did not get records prior to the appointment. Sugarloaf unfortunately caused a lack in care to my pup. As for records for my cats I didn't get them in a reasonable time frame and asked for them a week prior to receiving them.
My husband and I found this place on a whim we had been to many other animal clinics each experience seemed to get worse and worse. My first visit at sugar loaf did not feel like that, it was completely opposite. There small office is decorated and feels homey and I've met every one of the front counter/assistant lady's they are all very welcoming and treat your pets like there own. Dr rai came off very sweet as well, but not affraid to tell you the truth and best course of action for your pet. My cat is a 7 year old Siamese he is my baby and he needed a ton of dental work done 7 teeth removed to be exact. She set us up a week early on antibiotics very easy to give pills his checkups were included after the procedure. She wanted him back once a week for 2 weeks (this is what I mean when I say they treat your pets like there own) and he is due back for one more checkup 2 weeks after that. He is doing great now I don't think I would have wanted it done any other way at any other place I felt comfortable leaving him there that day and its hard to find that in a vet. There a small but amazing place & i like a small hands on place that knows what there doing. My cat coudlnt be happier I see it in his behavior everyday and I couldn't be more great full for what Dr. Rai and her team did for him. I know he can live another 7 years now and as for Dr. Rai and her team, they have 3 more furry baby's that will be coming in for checkups (: my new go to vet for all our little family members. I highly reccomend this place, you won't regret it!
Not very caring! We found a 4 week stray kitten by our home. She was wandering in the street totally blind from a severe eye infection, wobbly, barley able to walk from severe dehydrated & malnutrition. We actually thought it would die on the spot she was in such bad shape, so we took it to the closest vet to our home Sugarloaf. We explained the situation and that we couldn't just leave her in that condition! They charged us a $51.00 exam fee and presented a bill for $378.00 to give it fluids under the skin, antibiotic & steroid shots, antibiotic eye drops and an HIV test ($99). They would not help us help the kitten by giving us any discount. (not even emergency fluids) The help they offered was suggesting we take her to the shelter. I was so distressed I could not afford that much and I refused to take her to a shelter! I was pretty sure in that condition they would just put her down. So I took the kitten to another vet who helped us help her and charged us $65.00 for everything the other vet was going to do, less the HIV test (she's to young to take the test). They also fed, bathed and kept her to watch her for a few hours. I had to do a couple days around the clock care, but she pulled through and is doing well now. Sugarloaf sent us a Thank you / Welcome to our family card, that is what prompted this review. You can see pictures of her on my Yelp review.
I took my little Jenna (puppy) into Sugarloaf today for the first time. This is my first puppy and my first trip to a veterinarian. I wanted to get her examined and see what else I needed for her. I was shocked when I was seeing everything that she needed and was nervous about the cost. To my surprise, they had everything wrapped up in a "puppy package" that covered everything she needed at a discounted rate including being chipped. Dr Rai was very meticulous in her exam and her staff were wonderful. They explained what everything was and why it was needed. They originally helped me plan the treatments and shot according to my budget, but then I was approved for one of their financial assistance programs and was able to get the puppy package covered. I took her in for an examination and left with medication, her first round of shots, her being microchipped and sample of some recommended puppy food. Oh, yeah, let's not forget, I also left with the next appointment scheduled. I now have the peace of mind that my little Jenna is in great hands. Thank you to Dr. Rai and her staff (sorry to the wonderful nurse who helped us too, i did not get your name) for a great job. I highly recommend Sugarloaf to anyone!
Recently moving to Arizona with my 18 year old cat, Puffy, from Idaho, I knew I would shorty after have to put her down. The day came and I made the appointment. Even though this was my first and only appointment at Sugarloaf, the staff was so very welcoming, kind, and made me feel as if I’d been going there for years. They gave me multiple options for going about putting her down, such as if I wanted to be in the room or not and if I wanted to see her afterwards for closure. They also gave me a clay circle with her paw print free of charge. Throughout the appointment, the doctor told me how good of an owner I had been to Puffy and I could see how much they genuinely cared about how hard of a day this was for me. After giving me lots of alone time with Puffy after she had passed, I left heartbroken but feeling as if I felt like I did the right thing and the staff gave me all the closure and kind words I needed to get through the day. I couldn’t have chosen a better vet. Thank you so much Sugarloaf <3
My pup was having GI symptoms and I couldn’t get into my normal vet. After calling literally every vet in the valley, sugarloaf had a slot open. After I left my dog there for 5 hours, the only conclusion they gave me was that he either had parvo or he just stopped eating because he smelled a female dog in heat. That’s it. Those were the two possibilities. Didn’t even mention he could have a parasite. They wanted me to pay $850 in tests, medications, food, etc. oh and she said the vaccines were illegitimate because they were given by the breeder (who I personally know). Luckily I went somewhere else for only $50 to get a fecal test to find out he has 2 parasites. Not parvo. And not because he smelled a dog in heat. If you want to spend all your money on your dog I guess you could go here. 2 stars for being able to get me in soon but now I wonder why they’re the only clinic with availability
Very happy to have found Dr Rai just down the street from our house. Using a new vet is a bit nerve-wracking. We were thankful Dr Rai was able to get Wrigley in the next day to check out a wound on his leg after the vets we used before didn't have any availability. I like how she has pictures on the walls of patients dating back 20 years. She has a good bedside manner with pet guardians as well and is gentle in explaining her findings and recommendations. Our first visit was the only kind of semi-emergent care with Wrigley. I was nervous about what she would charge. The price seemed to be reasonable and included a follow up visit as well. The staff seemed to adore Wrigley as well. I also like how they took a picture of him and communicated via text. I hope Dr Rai keeps practicing for at least as long as Wrigley is on this side of the rainbow bridge.
Dr. Rai and her staff are excellent. From the great care and knowledge, to the ease in which the information is communicated to us. I have been going to this clinic with my dogs for nearly 20 years. When it was time for my Sadie to be put to sleep Dr. Rai and her staff could not be more gentle or caring. They let us spend as much time with her at the end as we needed, provided some of her fur and a paw print and the procedure went quietly and painlessly. Afterwords we received a heartfelt sympathy card from the clinic. They went above and beyond. With our new puppy, we are using one of the puppy packages and it has been a relief to not have to worry about our new family edition getting the care she needs so she can be strong and healthy. I would recommend Sugarloaf to all of my friends with furkids :)
Just took our cat to this vet and after care was given and services provided they tell you that they charge a service fee to use credit. I haven’t heard of this in years! This place is definitely in the dark ages when it comes to marketing to new clients and keeping their business. We should have been more alarmed when a person in the parking lot told us to stay away from this place when we arrived for the appointment. The staff are nice enough, but the DR doesn’t take responsibility for her own small business. She said she doesn’t handle the finances even though she was the one to make the decision to charge a service fee if paying by credit. I would definitely NOT RECOMMEND this small business for your pet care needs!
Needed ONE parvo shot for my puppy , first they said the appointment was at 9 30 then didn't tell me the vet wouldnt be there until 10 . Then it took them 2 hours to exam my puppy and another hour for me to come pick him up and we weren't allowed to be inside . Told us the two in one Parvo shots from tractor supply are bad for them which is not true at all . Then tryed pushing dewormer on him and a stool sample when I've already had tablets ordered from Amazon. Also they say their parvo shot is two different shots not just a combined when I talked to the girl on the phone she said it was only one shot . Never going here again total con place .
Dr. Rai saved my dog's life. I adopted my dog from the humane society in Flagstaff and it turned out he was actually really sick, I just didn't know it. 12 days in, I realized something was wrong and did some research on local vets and decided to take him to Dr. Rai at Sugarloaf Animal Clinic. He was very sick but only 1 year old and Dr. Rai worked really hard to save his life. I won't post any of his pictures from his treatment because they are a little graphic but here he is now, a happy, healthy boy. Dr. Rai has my business for life. We take all 4 of our dogs to see her.
Dr. Rai Greeted me at the door with a beautiful smile. I felt at ease immediately. She examined my baby (dog) and gave me a full evaluation of his health. She explained carefully and knowledgably in laymen terms about my dogs situation. She made some other unrelated recommendations. My dog is now on a diet. LOL I absolutely think the price for the service was very fair. I have paid so much more at other offices for so much less. I highly recommend you make her your family pet doctor. Thank you Dr. Rai for healing my baby! Your the best! Your staff rocks too!
I have been taking my dog daisy to Sugarloaf Animal Clinic for about a year and half. They take incredible care of my Daisy. After 6 years of her battling stomach issues and flare ups every couple months, Dr Rai gave her the proper diagnosis, which prior vets have not done. After getting prescribed the right diet and medication, she has not had one flare up for over a year. I am sooo thankful! You can tell they genuinely care and want to help your pet over their lifetime. Overall, I am so happy with the care they have provided. I highly recommend!
Dr.Rai misdiagnosed 2 of my dogs..I must say...I'm glad I did not listen to her diagnosis...She stated my dog's left frontal lobe was damaged...and the dog wouldn't react to everyday activities...I found our later that the conditions was from a toad. Another vet diagnosed the situation...I'm sorry Dr. rai.. you should take more instruction to become a qualified veterinarian I read your response...now I consider you or your employee. Whoever is responding, a liar. I have receipts to prove my accusations....I DO NOT recommend this Vet.!
Excellent, professional service with great communication, wonderful care and PETS LOVING CREW. They all are patient, understanding, supporting in hard moments and also take their time to explain all details regarding your beloved pet, options and suggestions. They have just saved our little cutie Boy DEOGI, who suffered acute pain . Today he is back to normal, happy playing and running around. Thank you Dr. RAI and Thank you everyone at Sugarloaf Animal Clinic. Dariusz, Keith & Deogi. You all are Angels!!
I was new to the area and my Oliver, 15 year old Siamese was having some issues with eating. He wanted to eat all the time. Found out through blood work that he had hyperthyroidism and kidney disease. Got him on meds for the hyperthyroidism and Hills KD cat food for kidneys. I also was shown by the staff how to do IV’s of fluid as that is needed for his kidneys to. The Dr, staff, so comforting and kind to both me and Ollie. Oliver doing good, I figure he will let me know when he has had enough. ❤️
Just moved to AZ and was looking for a local vet. The staff was so patience and friendly. My kitty was having issues but when I explained a bit more of the situation, they wanted to see him ASAP. They were able to squeeze me into the current schedule and help my little guy out. The tests were expensive but the vet did an awesome job providing a diagnosis and treatment plans. I found this vet based on google reviews and they didn’t lie. They are great to work with!
Dr Rai and her staff always seem to know just what’s wrong with my cat. She rebounds in a day of being seen. They are all very caring and loving. You can see that they love what they are doing. Snuggles and I will continue to go there as long as needed. Dr Rai really knows what she is doing and she even takes the time to call you herself to let you know what’s going on. I would recommend Sugarloaf to anyone who will listen.
Hi, I just wanted to thank Dr. Rai for her help with a dog that we found. She checked to see if the dog was micro chipped and then gave me the info...thanks to her and the phone numbers ,we found the owners...and we also found a vet for our dog. We just moved in this area 5 months ago and hadn't found a vet for our dog, until now..So thanks again....
Dr Rai was my vet till it was evident that she HATES any pit bull breeds I rescue pit bulls that need help every puppy I brought to her she wanted to put down saying “o this is a pit bull”I would bring them home and they were fine so if you want to go to a vet that has hate for any animal it’s your choice just don’t bring pit bulls to her for care
The staff and Dr. Rai are amazing! They were close to closing and I felt that I wasn't being rushed so they could leave. They came up with the best treatment plan for my new puppy, and this was an hour after office hours. Convenient location and can't say enough about the staff. Great place to take your furbaby for quality treatment.
Dr. Rai and her technicians genuinely care about my pets, offering options and explaining thoroughly what I need to know. Dr. Rai answers questions in a way we can understand. They are very good about protecting our pets and us during this time of Covid 19, also! I would highly recommend Sugarloaf Animal Clinic for pet care needs!
I’ve taken my puppy here a few times now and I love the service they provide! They always answer all my questions thoroughly, and work around my schedule as best as possible to get my puppy in for her shots on time! They help to make everything affordable for my budget. Thank you so much sugarloaf for taking care of Astrid!!
So thankful for the caring staff at Sugarloaf! My sensitive, shy rescue dog needs special care & they have always taken the time to help put her at ease. I very much appreciate the genuine kindness of all staff members I have encountered. My dog's needs have always been very well taken care of. Thank you, Sugarloaf!
I’m so impressed with the level of care we receive from Sugarloaf! We moved recently and when my pup was sick, Dr Rai was so thorough and caring. I found out I’d received bad instructions from my previous vet, and am so thankful I’ve found a place that really cares about the quality of life of the pets they treat.
We got a new puppy from Craigslist and poor little Reaper was covered in ticks! We got what we could but found them in his ears too! We took him to Dr Rai and she was amazing. They took great care of him! Got all his shots started, nails trimmed, and de-ticked in no time! Thank you ladies for all your help!
Dr. Rai has been extremely Informative in the process of taking care of my furbaby! You can tell they truly care about your pets health and want nothing but the best, the entire team is great! Your pet will definitely be in good hands. From Rawsco & I , Thank you all so much !!
I worked with this clinic to prepare for my dog traveling overseas. They helped me with everything, as well as preparing my pet for in cabin travel. They are professional, compassionate, and friendly. If I need help in the future I will go to them. Highly recommend.
This isn’t my usual vet place but mine was closed. I called Sugarloaf, I was in a bind and needed something same day for my dog. They got me in same day, called me with updates, most importantly they treated my dog with care. Will be coming back to them every time.
I have been going to Sugarloaf Animal Clinic for 7 years and have always been so pleased with the friendly, loving care they have provided to our pets and to us. Dr. Rai and her staff are wonderful! I would recommend Sugarloaf Animal Clinic without any hesitation.
Sugarloaf Animal Clinic is awesome! I took my new Aussie Zipp for his wellness check to them for the first time. The whole process was smooth and they answered all questions. I love this clinic and will be bringing Zipp here from now on. Thank you very much!!!
We just moved to the area and we needed to have our pup seen as he was having an issue, Dr. Rai and staff got us right in and took excellent care of Ryder. They were all very friendly and attentive, thank you. We now have a new vet for our fur family members.
Thank you again Dr. Rai and Jody for taking best care of my girl with her dental. She is doing great! We love all you gals at Sugarloaf animal clinic. Thank You Sabrina for all the phone calls checking up on my baby " You guys Rock"
Find another Veterinarian would be my suggestion to anyone thinking of coming here. Dr. Rai treated my wife in a very disrespectful manner and had a very condescending attitude. If I could give this place ZERO STARS I would.
Dr. Rai and her staff are extremely kind and professional in providing exceptional diagnostic and treatment care for our pets. We have rescued dogs for many years and have used many veterinarians. Dr. Rai is very best.
Dr. Rai, you were amazing! We are truly hoping we can find a clinic in Denver with a vet and vet techs who care as much as you and your team have for our little Golden girl, Nala. Thank you so much for everything!!
Dr. Rai and her staff are miracle workers! Both our 13 year old dogs have advanced heart disease, but Dr. Rai has had them romping like 2 year olds the past year and a half. They haven’t been this happy in years!
I did a wellness check with a litter of pups. All the employees were so happy and friendly. Loved the pups. The dr called and sounded so happy to be around our pups. I'd definitely go here again. …
Very nice and caring staff we are traveling with our cat and they're helping us make sure our kitty can fly with us with no issues all the way to Portugal. Definitely am going back before we fly
Dr Rai and her staff are extremely compassionate and friendly. Dr Rai is an outstanding veterinarian and has taken care of my Golden Retriever for nearly 9 years now. Highly recommended.
They have always been accommodating and help me take a care of my cats most of which have had significant health issues and help me through some difficult times with ones I had to let go
Dr rai plus every single staff member who was there for the end of life moments with my love ms belle dog, thank you for all that you did & continue to do. You are an amazing team.
This is a great place for our fur babies. They are all so sweet and caring. They understand when you feel your baby needs to be checked out and will squeeze them in when they can.
Trust your dog when pulling up to this place. Its as bad inside as it looks from outside. The negative reviews are accurate. Bad attitudes, bad energy, arrogant, and ignorant.
I'm not sure what exactly I paid for. She has not yet fully explained what I've paid for. After an additional $300 the verdict is still out. Please see photos for reference.
It’s all excellent! No complaints. I’ve been taking my animals (rescues, fosters, and my own fur babies) here for years and have always been very pleased with the service.
Always excellent vet services with caring support staff. Covid response is strong in precautions, without loss of service , professionalism, and genuine caring interest.
We have been bringing our two cats and dog to Sugarloaf for about 13 years. The entire staff at Sugarloaf Animal Clinic has been lovingly taking care of our babies.
I was driving by this place a few years ago and saw two people with a single liner walking to the dumpster, the one with the liner seems to do all the work there.
We adore Dr. Rai and her team! Very happy to get to know Melissa as an assistant, on our last visit! Thank you for all that you do for Sherlock and Bon Bon!
Abby is always well taken care of and I am always kept up to date on what she needs. Highly recommend Sugarloaf Animal Clinic and all who work there.
Dr. Rai and Julie and all the staff at this clinic are the best! They truly love what they do and help animals to feel better. Amazing service!
This family has been relying on Dr. Rai and Sugarloaf for better than 15 years. That loyalty in and of itself speaks for itself.
Dr. Rei and her staff are wonderful caring loving people! I've been taking my babies here for over twenty years!! …
Not a good experience, sorry. And yes my cat was a patient there. I read other reviews and the clinic denies seeing people.
I took my sister’s cat peaches for her shots and a checkup. The doctor and her staff were most cordial and professional.
Took very good care of my 20 yr old kitty, was sensitive to her needs & called to check in on her, very caring staff!!
Not happy with most recent experience. Please I don’t want to give any review anymore please delete my review.
You will be very happy with the service you receive at Sugarloaf. Dr. Rai and her staff are the best.
Dr Rai and staff are wonderful. I trust them and they treat our pets as if they were their own.
I picked up medicine for my pupper and they brought it outside within a reasonable timeframe.
