"I wouldn't consider this a park but rather an urban resting area"
"This is labelled as a park, but it’s not your typical park with a field and grass and all"
"Decent spot and pleasant enough, but the poodle statue"
"This "park" is one of Vancouver's lamest excuses for a "park" a handful of trees and a grass hill are barely enough to deem this a spot to stop and jam what ever snacks your desperately munching from the shoppers"
"The only drawback might be the limited parking space, which can be a challenge during peak hours"
I wouldn't consider this a park but rather an urban resting area. There are a few tables and chairs, some permanent stools and a little grassy knoll. There are three art installations that compliment Sun Hop Park. The white poodle by Gisele Amaniea unveiled in 2012 sits perched on a pole high above the park, and the large orange metal installation adds some character. Although the Love, Peace, and Knowledge mural is not part of the park, it does add some extra color to this corner. Mural created by Steve Smith. Two businesses that are noteworthy in this immediate area are Neptune Records and Slickity Jim's Chat 'N Chew.
This is labelled as a park, but it’s not your typical park with a field and grass and all. This is an urban city park with a beautiful red steel structure on the corner and some patio seating and benches along the edge facing a small grassy knoll. I imagine that as the Vancouver cityscape changes that these types of urban structures and “parks” will be more common. It’s still a great resting spot and a great place to bring kids to run around as you wait for a spot at Anh and Chi ;)
Decent spot and pleasant enough, but the poodle statue... why? It takes away from an otherwise attractive place. With the golden spray painted tree stump at the top of Cambie, golden spray painted rocks part way up Cambie (same uninspired artist, or just lazy contractors?), the headless rust statues on Lonsdale, and the numerous other questionable installations around the GVRD, I'm beginning to seriously question Vancouver's tastes in what I can only assume is art.
This "park" is one of Vancouver's lamest excuses for a "park" a handful of trees and a grass hill are barely enough to deem this a spot to stop and jam what ever snacks your desperately munching from the shoppers... I wouldn't bring children to play here and it's definitely lacking in the nature that I have come to expect at a real park... give me a fricken playground and grsss, maybe a water fountain.
The only drawback might be the limited parking space, which can be a challenge during peak hours. However, this minor inconvenience is overshadowed by the park's tranquility, cleanliness, and the warm atmosphere created by its regular visitors. In conclusion, Sun Hop Park is a charming and inviting space that enriches the city's landscape, providing a peaceful retreat and a community hub for all age.
The proper name from this place is Sun Hop Park which is on the lastest version of the city park map. This is a small concrete park with a poodle on a pole. There is some landscaping and a small grass area. It looks like the park was created and paid for by the new development. There is also an orange public art piece. It is nice place to sit and rest when walking by the area.
More of a courtyard than a park, this mostly concrete area has a small patch of grass and is perfect for locals taking a coffee break or snacking on takeout. Seating includes a long concrete bench and several bright orange stools that complement the orange tubular sculpture. Not a quiet or particularly restful spot as it’s right on busy Main Street.
Sun Hop Park serves as a cultural hub, hosting various events and exhibitions that add to its dynamic atmosphere. Whether it's outdoor concerts, art displays, or community gatherings, there's always something happening here.
Cute little park. Sometimes a lot of litter around from people passing through. Lots of dogs around also because of the neighborhood.
The skateboarders love it though. That's right the city built a $450000 skate board park.
Too many dogs popping and seeing here that I wouldn't let my kids play at this park
There is a pokastop, other than that, completely insignificant
Pleasant place to hang out with a friend or exploration
Never seen skaters .. just young parents and kids.
A charming little spot to stop.. and rest awhile.
Odd place. Weird street people there yesterday
Its not real park its just a wider sidewalk
Nice little park in Mount Pleasant
This is not a park...
Good place to chill
Nice and quiet
Awful
