Misleading exam and racked up treatment plan shows desire for profit over patient care: After having an exam at this office, I decided I wanted to go back to my old dentist (Simply Wellness Dental (S.W.D) on Kingsway) to get the 4 new cavities that the Dr. Sonam Sabharwal said I acquired filled. S.W.D requested the exam information but Sunrise Village refused to hand over the findings from my exam. I then personally called Sunrise Village to ask for my exam findings and was denied this information several times. This is illegal. My exam findings are my property. This made me all the more suspicious of Dr. Sonam Sabharwal’s findings because the dentist at S.W.D said they could see no cavities on the new X-rays provided. After a thorough second examination, by the dentist at S.W.D, the dentist completely disagreed with the findings provided by Sonam Sabharwal. Sonam Sabharwal had stated on the treatment plan that I need to get three new cavities filled on my premolars. On the x-rays and in the examination, the S.W.D dentist found no cavities on my premolars at all. The only thing that the S.W.D dentist agreed with from the treatment plan was that one old filling needed to be replaced, as there was a new cavity starting under it. This disparity in findings is rather disturbing to me. Even if there is a bit of calcification on the premolar tooth this can be kept at bay with regular flossing and good hygiene. To do something as invasive as three new fillings when there’s NO CAVITIES PRESENT is really shocking and exploitative. At the most, the fillings could have been suggested as a preventative option. It should have never been framed as an essential procedure when it’s not essential at all. Besides the physical toll, the amount of money that Sonam Sabharwal's treatment plan would’ve set me back is astronomical. Instead of the $825.00 that it would have cost me at Sunrise Village clinic, I was only required to pay 1/4th of that at S.W.D. With such a heavy handed treatment plan and Sonam Sabharwal's refusal to release the documentation about my exam findings, it really seems as though the main motive here was profit over patient care. The other thing I will mention that really struck me in a negative way about this clinic is their overwhelming use of disposable plastic coverings lining almost every surface of the clinic. We are in a climate crisis. The environmental impact of this pollution, solely for convenience purposes, is distressing. Again, it points to the motive of profit over care and ethical decision making. Please reassess your clinic set up and motives for providing treatment.

I’m giving two stars because the dentist was really great and everyone was pleasant. But I’m giving negative three because I’m a wheelchair user and specifically asked, more than once, if the space was wheelchair accessible. I was told it was and to be clear it 100% is not. When I called to inquire the receptionist was nice but her communication on this was extremely poor. The day of my appointment someone called to double check my needs but I just got the nonspecific voicemail so I called back. When I spoke to the same receptionist again she clarified that they wanted to ensure I could navigate the space because “the office is small” and I said that as long as I could get my chair next to the exam chair and X-ray chair I could transfer. She confirmed that was fine and I didn’t even know their were stairs to the X-ray machine until I got to the exam room. No one said anything when I arrived or while I waited. Not a word. To be clear, accessible does not mean my small chair barely fits in the very small room and can’t really turn in the very narrow hallway. It also doesn’t mean there are stairs to get to the X-ray. If I have to be able to get out of my chair (not including transferring to the exam chair) to access a space to access something it’s not accessible. “Yes we’re accessible but there is a few steps” is not accessible. If you don’t understand the meaning of “accessible” and you don’t train your staff to understand “accessible” you stand to make people with disabilities feel disregarded and embarrassed and waste their time. It’s 2021, I shouldn’t need to have my wheelchair sit in the hallway next to your scrub sink and tool processing area while I feel awful that no one understands that how important clear communication is to people with different needs.

I've been having financial and dental issues for some time but it all came to a head and I couldn't wait any longer. Not only did they waste no time in helping me, they also worked with me on how I can best go about the finances towards my dental work. The dentists, assistants and receptionists are very attentive and kind, really unlike any dentist I have ever been to. I have to travel by transit from quite a distance but it's totally worth it. Edit: I forgot to mention! I had to get a root canal done here as well. The dentist best versed in doing these procedures was about an hour away but instead of rescheduling me so that I'd go home, deal with pain for another day or so and then come all the way back they had this dentist come out for me right then and there. Not only that, but he worked on me for well into the night to make absolute sure everything was ready to go and as good as it could possibly be. They went really out of the way for me and I am still so thankful.

When it comes to going to the Dentist I am a complete coward, I've been avoiding my dental needs because of it. Last week I googled a dentist near me and found Sunrise Village. I contacted them immediately and Karen gave an appointment that same week. When I got to the appointment I was super nervous and sitting on the "treatment chair" even worst, I was shaking like a leafe. But as soon as Dr. Cossrow walked in and started talking to me, my heart rate became normal. He's is warm and compassionate. He explained everything and took care of a couple of fillings that same day. I was impressed because I didn't feel the numbing poke at all. I am recommending him to every person I know, family members, co workers, neighbors... I still have to see him a couple more times to finish my treatment and I can't wait to go again.! P.S if you don't have insurance, their prices are reasonable.

I was asked by the front desk if I would move my already made appointment from 1:30 to 12:30 to accommodate for another patient, I said okay - the front desk did not advise me that I’d have to wait 45 mins after my cleaning to get my fillings done,instead it was my fault because I came 10 mins early for my already moved appointment. Common courtesy and having the knowledge/ability to move both appointments or at least tell the patient prior to moving appointments around of a wait time between cleaning and treatment would have been helpful to me the patient and to the business. But the dentists that work here are the best in the business and are very well mannered thus I will be coming back it’s unfortunate I booked this day off and have to book another day off now because of something that was over looked , because of negligence via front desk.

Recent insights: This clinic is the best dental clinic. Dr. Karen and her staff offer the most excellent care, and most fair pricing of any clinic that I have ever been to or researched across Canada. Older review: This clinic has dealt with the Covid-19 pandemic very well, safely and responsibly. As always they provided me with exceptional treatment, compassion and care. I transferred from my past dentist, (who was also excellent) because I had concerns about my gums that I didn't think were being addressed. I was immediately referred to a gum specialist. The care I received was so complete and thoughtful, that I am going to remain a patient at Sunrise Dental Clinic.

I couldn't be happier that I found this office. Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Dhir are both really good dentists. They were patient with me and took the time to explain things to me. I hadn't been to the dentist in years and was starting to have pain. After fixing my teeth they now look and feel good. My assistant was a sweet heart and the receptionists were friendly and on top of things with my insurance. They didn't charge me a cent upfront and were able to collect everything from my insurance. Heard lots of horror stories from my friends about dentists and there billing practices. Very pleased with my experience here. A+++

I just wanted to thank the amazing staff - today our 10 yr old had a tooth pulled and as we were leaving, she realized that she hadn't been given her tooth... for the tooth fairy! Yep. We have a younger son and so we’ve kept the tooth fairy up for both of them. The staff were amazing at going back to look for it, and to make sure it was packaged up just perfectly without giving anything up about the tooth fairy. It's her very last baby tooth, and not long before the jig is up! so just a little extra special. The magic lives on! Thank you again ❤️ you gals are the best!

The doctor I saw was really good. He took into account that I had high BP and would not take a chance to give me local anesthetic as it might cause my BP to go even higher. I will definitely go back once my BP is under control. Update - I went back to this dentist once my BP was under control, he extracted my tooth - I think it took less than 15 minutes (including the time it took for the local anesthetic to kick in) and I had minimal pain/discomfort afterwards. I'm so glad I found this office. I really recommend them. Staff are real friendly and helpful as well.

I had a great experience with the dentist (dr Dhir) but Huyen the receptionist was incredibly rude and extremely condescending - after a negative experience with her and misinformation from dr tan, I decided to find a new dentist and I’m glad I did! All the work that I had done at Sunrise Dental, had to be redone and I was surprised to learn that everything they had advised me on doing, was incorrect - according to a number of other specialist and my new dentist. If you want to save time and $$$ on your dental work, I highly suggest going somewhere else.

I had excellent experience with this clinic. The great service starts at the reception... My first visit was when I was 7 months pregnant. I got the best consultation, care & referral. Later I went there when my baby was 5 days old and 15 days old. We got so much care and flexibility from all the staff. Despite the fact that they are busy (no wonder why) they do treat each patient very individually and carefully. Reception has great knowledge in coverage & insurance plans. I got a perfectly skilled dentist. My teeth got the best care & cure! Thank you!

I came into this dentist office with many fears and now I feel so safe! The whole team makes me feel welcome and provides excellent service. My dentist continuously checks in on me to see if I’m ok throughout my appointments. Not only do they do direct billing; they are also super mindful of staying within the budget of my benefits. I have been hesitant to write this review because the people at Sunrise Village Dental are so nice, including Dr. Nguyen, who I had seen. However, I feel I should at least let others know that I received poor quality work done (that has required re-work multiple times now as a result), in addition to a likely misdiagnosis for cavities. I have seen two other experienced, reputable dentists since, and they have both confirmed that I do not have cavities. Just something to be cautious of.

This is a great place to go take care of your teeth. The team was very professional and provided both exceptional care and service. The place is very clean and bright. Dr. Bin Tan is awesome and did a great job. She explained very well what was going on and provided solutions. She was very gentle, kind and caring. I felt that I was in good hands. Sunrise Dental Centre on Hastings is amazing! I want to give a special shout out to Tiffany Le as she is just exceptional and an absolutely lovely lady. Every time I walk in the door, she has a smile on her face and I can just tell she's a competent staff for the team. A huge asset for this dental clinic. I come here to clean my teeth every 6 months and I highly recommend this dental office for locals and folks in the lower mainland.

I was lucky to find this place, I had bleeding gum issue for many years, I had a different dental clinic for couple of years but the issue remind the same even after couples of cleaning season. However, after visiting Sunrise clinic my problem is completely gone , The doctor was awesome, she explained everything she did on my tooth in very simple language and also tough me how to take care of it. Really happy with there services.

Conveniently close by if you live in the area. Friendly staff. Professionally is somewhat okay. Tongue and cheeks got cut a few times. Their Orthodontist is NOT a licensed practitioner in Canada. That is a warning sign. I would NOT trust an unlicensed Orthodontist in Canada and does not belong to Canadian Association of Orthodontist. If you have insurance, your insurance will not cover an UNLICENSED Dentist or Ortho. Be careful.

Everyone was friendly and professional. Covid protocols made me feel safe, I've been putting off going to the dentist for a while due to worries about the potential for transmission, but they put me at ease. Temperature check at the door, pre-screening and another screening upon arrival, no one in the waiting room, staff sanitizing surfaces, everyone masked or wearing full PPE, it was so reassuring. And my teeth feel so good!

Dr. Tan is amazing! I love her conservative approach: while another clinic I used to go recommended a root canal, when Dr. Tan saw me, she explained that there was no rush for that to happen. She kept my tooth alive for years now. The staff is friendly. Only thing that you should keep in mind is that their online booking service doesn’t work. Reach out by email or phone to confirm your appointment to avoid surprises.

This Dental facility is fantastic. I went in a year ago to see Dr. Karen with 20 years of neglecting my teeth. I walked out today with all the damage fixed and looks great. Came here scared for the bill as much as the pain I was having in my mouth. I was recommended to see Dr.Nguyen and was not disappointed. The staff resolved my dental issues quickly and with a single visit. They also did some preventative care. I can't wait to return, definitely making these guys my go to dental professionals.

Used to be a fine dental clinic. The last time I visited the service was gradually worsening (new receptionist), and the teeth cleaning made the gums hurt a lot, as if the dentists worsened the pain by not operating properly. I have since cancelled all future appointments, and I highly recommend going to somewhere else.

I have never felt judged or rushed when I'm nervous, they have connected me to specialists when needed, and every procedure I have had has been easy and successful. This dentist used to be really good, but my last appointment they randomly booked me a different dentist, she pushed procedures on me and then didn’t do the procedure correctly so I have major sensitivity in a tooth now. Going to find another dentist to fix it. Would not recommend.

Dr Nyuan has always been very good at explaining everything present and future work require. Using mirror so I can see problem areas ...very detail and straight forward.. Consider how many patients she has, she knows my nuances (needle phobia) Makes it as painless as possible...

All the staff I've met here are really great. Receptionist are friendly and have returned phone calls quickly. Dr. Dhir and Sarah the assistant both took time to answer my questions and ensure I understood my options. My impression was they are genuine and trustworthy people.

Honestly the most gentle and stealthy dental care I've ever had. Everyone was very welcoming and friendly. As an indigenous woman I've always had a problem with trusting doctors and such, I needed to switch dentists due to my work hours and they are extremely accommodating!
