I took my sick kitten here as a walk in and I am so regretful. Not only was my baby was prescribed medications that didn’t help and made her symptoms worse, upon bringing it to the vets attention he disregarded it and stated she just needed time to get better. I got a new kitten last week, a day after bringing her home I noticed her eye was swelling up and she was sneezing. I am new to the Jacksonville area so I did a quick Google search and found Sunshine Animal Clinic and took my fur baby in. The vet did a very quick exam and told me my kitten had a URI and conjunctivitis. He prescribed two medications. I went home and did all meds as prescribed. 3 days into treatment I started noticing her symptoms were worsening (eye was way more swollen, more frequent sneezing, trouble breathing through nose, lethargy, etc.), so I decided to call them and ask if this was normal. I was told to bring her back in. When I brought her back in a very quick exam was done and the vet said she is fine and he was not concerned, as it is a virus and it is just going to take time to get better. And I was charged a f/u visit and sent on my way. After another two days of worsening symptoms and seeing my poor fur baby suffering I decided to ask for recommendations on Facebook for another vet to get a second opinion. Someone recommended Pet Angels Animal Hospital (I am so thankful she did). My fur baby was diagnosed with feline herpes. The vet stated that due to the swelling in her eye, she may have permanent damage (only time will tell). My kitten was prescribed 3 new medications and I would like to say that after ONE dose of the new medications and about 7 hours, I have already seen some improvement in the swelling in my kittens eye. When I returned for follow up and stated that my kitten was worsening, medications should have been changed and further action should have been taken.. now my fur baby may have permanent damage.

I first came to Sunshine Animal Clinic in 2020. So glad I did. That Other Place down the street was causing my 2 cats to be traumatized by the excessive noise and overly long waits (in spite of having an appointment). Both cats are much calmer now about going to the vet at Sunshine Animal Clinic. There is not a lot of confusion going on behind the scenes in this office. The employees are all friendly and love the animals. I have not experienced any long waits. I find Dr. Patel to be very caring with his patients. One of my cats is older and experiencing a chronic medical problem, so I am in there more often than I want to be. Dr. Patel always explains what he feels is going on and gives me options. He has never charged me anything without first presenting me with a written estimate. I find his prices to be in line with any of the other veterinarian offices in the area. His equipment is of good quality and he is very knowledgeable. Someone said, in a negative review, how they didn't feel Dr. Patel communicated well & his accent was too thick. I disagree. Our having to wear masks over the last couple years make understanding anybody a bit more difficult. I simply let him know I didn't understand him and he is very kind and patient to either rephrase or repeat what he said until I do. Recently, I was there awaiting test results from the Doctor's care with my cat. Someone else was in there with a litter of puppies for him to check out. They did not speak English. After examining each puppy (I think there were 6), Dr. Patel found an app on his cell phone that translated each side of their conversation in order to be able to communicate with them. I consider that to be an above and beyond example of good customer relations. I highly recommend Dr. Patel and Sunshine Animal Clinic. Clean, Caring, Reasonable.

I am still sitting in the parking lot but before I left, I HAD to write this review. I noticed a lump on my dog, Riley’s, leg and needed an affordable vet to check it out (because money is so tight rn!!) I found Sunshine Animal Clinic and made a same day appointment. I brought my other dog, Joey, with us for support lol. (Never again because he was a big goofball the entire time) But they still treated Joey with the same love as they did Riley! The assistants were so friendly and welcoming. The doctor was also great! He answered all of my questions and even answered some questions I had about Joey, who did not have an appointment. It turns out Joey needs some minor surgery and the doctor gladly gave me an estimate. He said that Riley’s lump on his leg wasn’t of much concern, but to keep an eye on it. He didn’t try to stack on a bunch of charges, like most vets do. Since I was a new client, I did not have to pay anything for the visit! I walked out of there paying absolutely nothing and got the BEST service. I don’t think that has ever happened after a vet visit. I’m usually prepared to spend hundreds of dollars. I will recommend this vet to anyone and everyone! & I will definitely be making an appointment for Joey’s surgery. Thank you guys!!

At first I thought It was a great place to bring in my dog with broken leg......he wanted surgery right away and I couldn't afford it. Needless to say SHILO healed well and I had a good feeling in my heart even though initially he said dog needed metal plate. Second leg break Italian Greyhound. He wouldn't give antibiotics and when we went for follow up there was a wound into the leg you could see the bone. He didn't clean the dog properly and said it had to go to orthopedic for a metal plate. Brought the dog there and they said xray he took was dated wrong and not taken correctly. They also said that the wound was due to the way he put the cast on the dog. The specialist said the cast created the wound. Our visit to the office was bed bugs everywhere in the bathroom treatment room and waiting room. No metal plate needed but antibiotics pain medication and their own xrays showed my dog healing was already healing the bones were knotting. Because the wound was caused by Sunshine's Cast this means 3 day bandage changes and antibiotics pain meds but that he should be okay. After 3 - 5 weeks then the only surgery will be stitches. His assistant is nice his wife is nice he has no compassion or communication skill. Never again!

Dr. Patel is a true professional. He cares and does what is best. I had a magnificent experience with him and all of his staff. He's a hidden gem in Jax. More than fair pricing and excellent quality care. Thank you for taking such fantastic care of my Copper and thank you for excellent explanations, calm demeanor, and time efficient treatment! UPDATE: had to take my Charlie to Dr. Patel on Monday (my oldest dog). Charlie ended up needing surgery and special treatment because we found out he has a clotting problem the hard way. He unexpectedly had to spend the night, and I was terrified because Charlie is old and has lived beyond expectancy. I can't begin to express the professionalism, care and huge heart of Dr. Patel. He saved Charlie's life and did it with love and generosity. I am forever grateful for the extra time (that he refused to bill me for), care, and effort to make sure Charlie was ok and happy. Charlie is now home, eating like a horse and on his way to a full recovery❤️. Thank you, Dr. Patel. You are now a part of our family.❤️

I can't tell you how happy I am with this staff. Everyone was so sweet and complimented my baby's appearance, her bow collar, and they were very patient with her. She's my world, so it's crucial to have a wonderful vet. Finally found one...thank you thank you thank you!!! Drew didn't force anything on me which has previously occured; instead, he gave me options for flea/heartworm/tick medicine. He also used a flea comb and showed me how to administer her flea medicine just to ensure she's healthy and happy. Dr. Patil was thorough, quick, and efficient. I'm so happy, because they put the 2 shots in one in the PROPER place. She can actually walk and is herself. My fur baby, Marceline, immediately wanted out of the kennel, ate wet food and treats when she got home. They know what they're doing here!!! I appreciate it and will see you in October for her 3-year rabies shot if at all possible! I can't thank you enough for taking care of her and letting my entire family join us.

I had a really bad experience with this clinic. I purchased a dog and the store told me that I needed to go there and do a wellness checkup, and they would pay for it. Once I picked up my dog from the store since then she was sneezing and having reverse sneezing, the same as having fluids on her nose. I told to the vet that he didn't check on her, he just said she is healthy and had allergies. 2 days after the appointment, my dog, wasn't giving any reaction, and didn't want to eat or drink. I needed to take her to urgent care, and figure out that she had no allergies, she was with an infection. That really broke my heart, and once I called them the next day, the girl said that my dog was healthy on time and didn't have a fever (since when not having a fever means that you are healthy). She still didn't have her last dose of vaccine, and she could be a lot worse. All that because the veterinarian stayed 2 minutes inside the room, and told me that she has JUST an allergy.

Brought my terrier basset hound mix of 18 yrs in due to an unexpected mass that developed overnight. Was the only place last minute that would see her. Front desk staff was incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same level of comfort with the doc. After a 5 min physical exame $500 worth of expenses were recommended, and the explanations to my questions were short and unempathetic. I get the doc knew me from Adam but when you're relatively confident the diagnosis is cancer, as a startled patient it would have made me feel better to ensure I was comfortable and understanding of next steps, which was not the case. I don't want to talk too harsh as these opinions are strictly subjective and I don't doubt the medical advice i received was inaccurate. Would recommend for a routine check up, shots or preventive care...not so much for more serious testing or problems.

Used to come in here for help all the time and recently found out they charge 20$ for processing fee to solely release an order for prescription to chewy.... I didn't know the labor was worth 20$ in effort to hit send on an email... I used to love this place due to their PRICES however, don't try to approach using an outside service or looking for sympathy because sympathy does not live at this location and further, they're happy to mention they don't have time to even TAKE your money and place you on hold until they feel better about talking to you and explaining their policies. Furthermore, don't try to ask about shipping times on their online service they'll sway you to because they will tell you their service is better online and not know the info to back it up like shipping time frames or processes. Honestly. Hurting for money. Watch your TS and dot your eyes.

After breaking her arm couple of months ago at 8 weeks old Mylee was given a grim diagnosis by two other Veterinarians which both included amputation of the arm. We decided on Sunshine first out of convenience being much closer to home but noticed immediately a different vibe from previous clinics and they didn’t immediately start trying to cut her arm off but instead started a different plan with bracing and bandaging that eventually led to where she is now zooming everywhere and all over every thing. Of course the arm isn’t a hundred percent but at least she has it and able to use it for various things. Sunshine Animal Clinic is the absolute best as far as we are concerned and will definitely go above and beyond for you and your pet.

Absolutely horrible experience. Got my cat off the street and brought them in to get everything checked out a while ago and they scolded me for not knowing the cat's gender or age yet never told me their age or any information that I asked for. I've had my cat for months now and still know absolutely nothing besides their gender. To make matters worse, and the reason I'm now writing this is, I brought them to get neutered elsewhere and, had to get another vet to tell me their age, but have now had to pay for my cat to get their rabies shot 2x in the span on a few months because the paperwork I received from here wasn't correct. Had the wrong name, (my fault) wrong gender, and wrong address.

I recently switched to Sunshine Animal Clinic from a vet we adored after moving to the Southside. While Sunshine is a bit different than what we are used to, it is a great place. I have had no trouble getting quick appt when I need, we never have to wait very long and the office is very clean and well kept. The prices are very reasonable compared to the corporate, large business vet offices. They have only one vet and at times, there is no vet tech so when you walk in, the place seems empty. But I am sure the lack of a large staff allows the pricing to be reasonable. My pets haven't needed much other than routine care but so far, I can certainly recommend Dr Patel and Sunshine.

Sunshine vet helped me tremendously today. My dog broke his nail pretty bad last night, and since it's Sunday nobody could get us in. Max is not an easy dog to bring in to the vet. Upon check in, the lady (sorry I forgot her name) was very sweet, welcoming and accommodating. As we were discussing Max's behaviors, Dr. Patel came out to the waiting room and talked with me. Max got sedation, his nails trimmed and the one treated and cauterized, all his shots updated, heart worm and flea and tick meds, pain meds and antibiotics all for $400. I was very grateful that we stumbled upon this place and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a vet! Thanks for helping us out!!

Took my 10 year old boxer after he could walk this morning. The assistant was wonderful and kind. The doctor was very nice. A little hard I stand especially with a mask but he did a thorough exam.. gave a price list with high and low amount within no pressure . We choose to do it all xrays and blood work. Unfortunately we were left with horrible news. But they were kind compassionate and gave us time with our baby till we ready. Please go to this place if you are in need of any type of care. Thank you from the bottom of heart for your kindness and expert opinions. We will also be getting a paw print made up of our sweet boy instead of paying for ashes.

Thanks to Sunshine Animal Clinic Dr. Patel came in as a hero to help Diamond . When other veterinarian clinics and hospitals were suggesting we euthanize her, Dr. Patel saw a chance of hope. We knew the risks going for the surgery. He was open and honest and sympathetic. We have no doubt that we did all we could for Diamonds best chance of living. Dr. Patel also went the extra mile to deduct costs from the procedure. Something he was not obligated to do. He showed sympathy and took the human approach to ease our situation. This validated my outlook that there are still doctors out here that are for the patient and not in the business for profit.

I feel like they asked for way too much of my personal identifying information for a simple vet visit. They stated that this was needed in case they need to prescribe controlled substances. I explained that my dog wouldn’t need controlled medicine and that if it came to that I would happily provide that info to them, until then I wanted to decline providing certain information. They refused to see my dog because I wouldn’t give my drivers license number. I just find it odd that they need so much of my personal info for a simple pet visit, never had that, seemed a little sketch.

Still here now, They got me in right away very friendly and caring.Update my dog had Stones in her Urethra and was not peeing or able to have a bowel movement. Dr Patel saw me right away on Sunday, Tried to perform a emergency Catheter on Sunday but Was not able to because of the size of the stones. Monday morning had us ready for surgery. He is a great Dr and really cares. I was Charged $1140 for emergency help and I fell that was very fair. I'm very grateful for Dr Patel and his staff friendly and professional. Thank you

Dr. Patel and staff were awesome. They handled my girlies with TLC. I can't express how much I appreciated the time, effort, and understanding they provided me and my dogs. It was so refreshing to experience a vet that was more concerned about my fur babies than dollar signs. The pricing was very reasonable, the care was off the charts. They treated us like friends from the moment we walked in. I will definitely refer everyone who has a pet to them. Just OUTSTANDING care!!! Thanks a million to them!!!

I went in to get a 2nd opinion after my previous vet didn’t really help much. The vet is very friendly and caring. Super informative and will help with whatever they can. My husky was losing chunks of fur and had severe hot spots as well as bloody stool/vomiting. After coming here the following day my Husky Jenna was feeling like her old self and running around not hiding under the bed anymore. Her under belly is not red or irritated and she isn’t whimpering like she’s in stress. Highly recommend.

Disappointed when I express my concern last visit and he just brush me off. Had a visit for shot on a Friday and 2 days later my dog had warm. Called to see if I need another visit since I was just there. I was told yes. I spend 135 last visit and now you want me to returned for another $120 visit. Most vet CHARGES 30 dollars for a visit. At sunshine $60. Do my dog get good care ? NO. If my dog received good care, money wouldn't be an option. Now I just think they need to make money.

They charge $5 per med, per dog for pet prevention med Rxs to be sent to 3rd party providers like 1800 Pet Meds. For example two meds for 2 dogs, I paid $20. They said they would send a years rx to 1800PetMeds, but has since told me that they want a six month appointment to get more Rxs. They also used a digital thermometer to check my dog's rectal temp. Additionally, they charged more than what I was quoted on the phone for the same services. Something odd is going on here.

took my sick dog to this vet on a monday, 500 dollar later he gave told us what was wrong with my dog which were several things. He never agve us that info in writting only the bill. He show no compassion and was giving unclear responses when ask for a clear plan of action. money was the only thing on his mind. He did not ever tell us that even with treatment my dog would not survive. Well 700 dollars LATER SHE DIED.DONT TRUST TO VET WITH YOUR DOG'S LIFFE. i REGRETTED IT

Brought in my sick dog in three times and was given different medications every single time that seemed to be making her worse. After leaving her with them for one day she died and all dr Patel could give me was his guesses after numerous x rays and blood work and somehow did not know that her glucose was five times higher then normal until I asked him to double check the results. Please Save your animals and go somewhere else.

Dr. Patel is very kind and caring. He had a firm but relaxed attitude and I feel comfortable taking my dog here. They have been quick with responses and pricing seems fair. We previously went to the humane society and their offers here were much lower. Was concerned about masses I found in my dogs mouth and they took care of them cleanly and efficiently, my dog was comfortable and healed well. Will remain in their care!

Malpractice and fraud. One look at my poor cat and he knew she had cancer in her mouth - but I paid whatever he charged to get her back and watch her try and eat and then die. He KNEW! He even said when I called to tell him she still couldn’t eat “oh she might have cancer and we can help you put her down” She is dead less than a month - didn’t need those vaccinations huh? Or case of food! He knew but didn’t care.

We brought our dog in for a last minute emergency after he had a uti- they got us into the schedule for the same hour! Everyone there was so sweet and very professional. They treated our dog with so much love and care. Best part was- it didn’t cost us an arm and a leg! It was so affordable that I verified twice that I had the right amount! I highly recommend sunshine animal clinic. Thank you Dr. Patel!

It was a little confusing for me when I went there because they had a low package and a high price package and I wasn’t really sure what was necessary. My dog is an indoor dog never goes outside among other dogs, so therefore a lot of the things that they offered that I paid for I do not feel like I really need it but the next time I go, I will make sure that I look a little better at the package.

I have to recommend Dr. Shailesh Patel as I have a lot of cats and he went above and beyond to help my cats. A true animal lover and very reasonable, and follows up on them as well. He just opened his new clinic not too long ago. He worked at First Coast No More Homeless pets. He is so nice that I had to share for other animal lovers if they ever need a vet or urgent care :)

Took my 14 year shihtzu mix for check up and have a Dermal mass drained. Was pleased with there service and attention to my pets best care and they considered I was a senior citizen and they gave me a discount. Will continue to use Sunshine Animal clinic for my pets. I have 3 dogs and will be taking my other pets for them to take care of as well. Great, and friendly staff.

I went on a Sat. Not sure if they are ran by only 2 people, the Tech assistant and the doc. However would have liked better communication in regards to how long you would have to wait to see the doc. But once we did it we were done fast. Just have an Open communication! 2nd Review Went in again on a Sat as a walk-in. I got in and out. only spend maybe 30 mins.

I had to take my pet for a check up as she had pain in her leg and was limping after using stairs. Dr. Patel explained the health of my pet and bones after taking radiology images. She is being treated for the condition. I am happy we found Dr. Patel and this vet clinic. I highly recommend Sunshine Animal clinic to all the pet parents out there.

Very kind and thorough care. They explained everything to me better than any vet I've ever visited before. They are very popular/busy so do not be in a rush when you go there. I was there for two hours with my cat. They are worth the wait. Thank you for taking such good care of my cat. I will be back for all my pets' needs.

I initially visited this office because I found a stray dog that appeared to have an owner. Luckily the dog was microchipped and this office assisted me with returning the pup to it's owner. I then began to bring my dog to this Vet. The office was very professional and I appreciated the follow up call after our visit. :)

Place is the worse. When you start asking question on thing he gets rude with you. Charges something your pet don't need but then gets mad at you. And refuses your buisness bc your concern for your pets health and not profit making

Man... Have been looking for a good vet since I moved here last May... Dr Patel checks your animal... No vet tech or assistant... Recommended the best cure but didn't push any product... Seemed like he really cares for the animals

Absolutely would recommend to anyone who needs an annual vet or has a small emergency. They don’t break the bank and are very fast and upfront about the care for your pet. I really appreciate the staff and Drs who make it great!

I was about to put a cat to sleep before I called Dr. Patel. He saved Soldierboy’s life—literally. He stayed during hurricane Ian and made sure surgery was done. He calls with regular updates and is tech friendly.
