Tanya Shelton-Council the manager is the rudest most insensitive person I've ever met. My daughter was crying because she hit her head. To add to that she's getting over an ear infection. So my daughter crying hysterically and all I was doing was faxing 1 document. And am a PAYING customer. As I'm on the phone confirming the fax number, Tanya snatches my paperwork from my hands while I'm writing! I tell her there's no reason for her to do that. Also to quit treating me like a criminal. She said I had to go outside until my daughter calmed down. No please, no respect whatsoever. It was pouring outside I'm not going out there. So my daughter and I, the heathens wait at the entrance. In case you're unaware of how to file a complaint you can by calling 311. Thanks to a passing customer she told me. Tanya you need to learn some people skills.
Beautiful building. Not sure how well the "check-in" process is manned. Make sure your materials are checked in by hand or you get some sort of confirmation. I checked out a DVD of Seinfeld before the pandemic hit in 2020, like a few days before everything was shut down. I returned it on the due date, maybe even a few days before. I didn't know they were implementing extension, so my husband and I dropped it in the drop box... Well, when everything opened again and resumed, I got a notice saying I owed $20 or return the DVD. I called to let them know that I did. They said they would remove the charge and that "if I found it to return it." Insisted that I didn't have it... They insisted that I would find it. Either take video of you returning your items or get a printed confirmation of some kind. My goodness.
The Library is amazing but don't ask for help. Tanya the manager and her staff have a different story for the purpose of the patio. I have been to some great summer learning activities, new years events, & 3D printing class but have never once have seen the patio utilized. I have been given the running around for the purpose of the patio. The City and the public library and community center need to learn to adapt to the trends of today, by starting to make these space available for neighbors to gather and collaborate. Let make it easy for our neighbors in Taylor Ranch to gather in public space, meant to be used and paid for with tax dollars. Allow it to be easy to pop in and have the neighborhood little league to use the patio for the afternoon. Its up to us to make our City better place to live and enjoy.
I am a huge supporter of public libraries. I go here about once a week to print out my homework and pick out a book. But last time I went, I had to engage with a hostile employee and it has made me apprehensive to return. I don’t have my library card, so I have to read off the number, and I go by my middle name instead of my first, so I read that name off when she asked me about the name associated with my library card. She was very short with me and I got the feeling she thought I was using someone else’s card. I love libraries and will be returning, but for someone who is unfamiliar with libraries and might be reaching out for help for the first time, this employee could discourage them from ever returning.
What I really like about this Library is it is it is extremely quiet. It's a great place to get some serious studying or work done. Storytime there is pretty fun and there usually is a good orator. I have yet to fully explore their selection, but it seems pretty fair. You can tell it's an older library, but it is kept tidy. It's a smaller library, but as mentioned, it's quiet. They have some fun stuff like a cool Star Wars display. On a sidebar they do like to give me hard time about getting my card replaced (I've had to do it a few times in a few years); I mean, it don't know if it's a hassle or that's just the temperament of this branch. Otherwise I have no beef with the Librarians.
Employees seemed nice enough prepandemic, we were frequent visitors. Now they seem to lie in wait to yell at small children who have trouble wearing masks for long periods of time. My 26 month old was loudly told to leave the library. The kindergartners across the street were embarrassed and told to leave and put their books in an outside drop bin because their masks weren't on properly. I know at least 3 other children who were yelled at by these employees. You'd think in a state fighting for last place in education librarians would be encouraging kids to read and helping with problems. Instead these librarians are humiliating children and turning them off the library.
Though it is a drive from any other part of the city, Taylor Ranch library branch had a great section for kids books. Lots of shelves, computers for the kiddies, and space to sit and read. I will warn you - community groups (e.g. clucking hens and their knitting) like to use the kiddie spaces too. So when adults are in the back, don't expect any quiet. The adults can be louder than children sometimes! Good selection of magazines. Fiction side for adults was a bit thin, but most of the adult side was taken up by computers. Outside is right across the parking lot from an outdoor park, and doggie park.
Really a nice, quiet place with a friendly staff who more than happy to help. Lots of computers and tables to study or work. They have a really nice children's section, with lots of books, and activities through out the year. My mother told me this question years ago that 9 out of 10 people don't know, and I didn't believe her, so I started asking people, and I have asked hundreds of people, and she was right; "Who did we fight in our revolutionary war, the war for our independence." The only group of people that knew the answer are librarians.
I liked this library and often study there. But today a clerk was talking to a customer quite a while in the QUIET zone in front of the sign, right next to me who is obviously studying. I chose to sit in the QUIET zone for a reason. I should've said something but I didn't want to waste my time complaining because I really wanted to study. I don't know why an employee can chat in the QUIET zone and they hush customers including kids when they talk. What's the purpose of the QUIET zone? The clerk had zero considerations to others. Sad!
Bring my clients here all the time. Great and helpful staff. came in today 2/27/23 @4pm and witnessed a "OLD LADY KAREN" complaining and insulting the manager because she couldn't move a couch to her own liking and the Manager Lily was so sweet and patient and still tried to be helpful and friendly even when faced with such ugly behavior and insults to her face, which no one deserves to be treated like that for doing thier job. Definitely one our favorite libraries ^-^
I'm new in the city and needed a library to visit nearby, Taylor ranch library is the place to go if you need resources like books, videos & internet. Went there to use internet and they help me out with a library card to get settle in as a member of the library. The white lady there at the front desk was really nice and helpful. Although the computers run slow and so as the internet but I'm glad I can come to this library for information.
Pleasant surroundings. Clean and bright. Plenty of library computers available most of the time. However, if you bring your own laptop, the WiFi speed appears to be throttled at around 500K. Adequate for most usage, but if you need to access a streaming video, it gets very choppy. Most of the other library locations have WiFi connection speeds around 2MB. But, it is a very nice library and perfect for studying.
I go that library because it is the closest to my house. I like the library overall. The thing that bothers me is that is always to warm in there. I went today to study and I couldn't stop yawning, I took my light jacket off and still was too warm. The thermostat said 77 degrees! I reviewing now because I remember that I thought that a few times before. They keep it too warm in the winter.
First time I have been in this wonderful out of the way library! I was met by someone as cheerful and bubbly as I am, Ms. Jennifer! She was quite helpful and I even obtained my new library card! Thank you for being a happy, bubbly person in an otherwise cold world! Lots of sunlight, many computers to choose from, printing made easy! I shall return here!
Not one employee was very friendly any of the times we have been here. In fact, on Several occasions employees have been rude. The entire library is sad and dark, and the children's section leaves much to be desired. Its the closest to our house but we dont go here anymore. There are much better selections elsewhere as well as more helpful librarians.
A recent visit to the North Valley Library really brought into sharp relief how disappointing the staff is at the Taylor Ranch branch. Rude, abrupt & completely unhelpful when you ask for assistance. Of particular note is one of the children's librarians, Ms. Wilmont. I cannot believe this woman is allowed to work with children! Awful, simply awful.
Great staff but gosh really? I think Ester Boone Library is best of all my library... everything is free, free printing, copies and faxing... this was a Hassel just for 5 mins... oh, you need cash? We need your card? And the printer gave me a faded out sheets for .15cents (stressful) luckily it was just today.
The staff at this location is friendly and accommodating. The manager, Lily, helped me solve a problem with books that my elderly father had accidentally damaged. She was wonderful and very understanding. She demonstrated exemplary customer service which I greatly appreciated. I recommend this library highly!
I was just at Taylor Ranch looking for a specific book which had apparently been misshelved. Julie spent a good deal of time looking for it and finally found it.I really appreciate how friendly and helpful Julie was-- as well as everyone else who helped me while I was there. Thank you all!
Nice branch. Friendly and helpful librarians. I went to check out a museum pass but was told they had stopped issuing them since COVID hit. They don't know if they will be getting them again, but are hopeful they will sooner or later.
Sad to see a public library so empty. I'll be so happy to have things back to normal. Now it will be closed for at least two weeks too. It's not the employees fault though. They're always friendly and helpful .
Nothing more sad then seeing the tall skinny librarian ignore and closee the doors on a kid who needs the restroom and is crying. Good to know you have a careless person! Even the lady leave thought how mean.
You need to update your hours on the website. It is very frustrating to drive across town and find the library closed. The website says it's open today until 6pm. I arrived at noon and it was closed.
This library feels clean and safe overall. The children's section is big but not very many books. There are no train tables or fun things to play with, even before the pandemic. Lots of empty space.
Their attitudes are ridiculous. You guys are there because of tax payer money. You should be providing masks for people that need them. Also telling someone to put a dirty mask on makes no sense.
The staff was rude. They gave a quick glance up but didn't speak. One perspn spoke to me and she made me feel very unwelcome. So.... even though it's a lot farther, I will use a different branch.
This is the nearest branch of the Albuquerque Library to my home. I am new to Albuquerque and visited primarily to obtain a library card. The staff were helpful, professional and friendly.
The only friendly person was the girl @ the checkout when my pin didn't work. No hello or friendly smiles as I walked around like the one on Coors/Central no offer of help either
Very nice library. Good selection, lots of computers, lots of different media. The people with children need to understand that it is a public library and not a daycare center.
Location is convenient to where I live but many times I go to Rio Rancho library instead. Albuquerque Taylor Ranch has a very limited large print section and not much variety.
Nice neighborhood library. They are doing a good job of cleaning and keeping staff and customers socially distanced during the public health emergency.
This was the safest place I have step foot in to since the pandemic began. Very proud of our local public library for how they are handling things!
Not a good selection of books. Whenever I go to see if they have a book I want or even an author, they don’t have it. Very disappointing.
They said it was open but I checked and now it says that its closed......its rather sad....been wanting to go in.....its a pity....
One of the better branches for the public library system for the city of Albuquerque, NM. I visit this library often.
I have been going to this branch for over 20 years. The staff here is really friendly and always willing to help.
Wonderful, helpful, friendly staff here at this library located at a large park with playground and dog park.
Small selection for both children and adults. One of the staff members was unpleasant and confrontational.
Access to the computer is awesome for our needs for those that don't or want a computer when needed indeed
One of my favorite libraries in the city. Lots to sort through. Nearby parks and plenty of parking.
Comfortable place to work or study, with plenty of free parking space unlike the downtown options.
This library actively discriminated against the disabled and should lose all government funding.
I loved going to read their when i needed or wanted a book. They were organized, fast and easy.
This is my favorite place to spend some quiet reading and research time..great, helpful staff.
This is an awesome library. They are quite helpful and your can self check out your books
Clean. Nice staff. Lots of tables and chairs to use. I will be back here again soon.
Friendly staff, neighborly people, just wish their selection was a little better.
I love the ABQ Public Library. Helpful staff, Libby app, great place to study.
Very nice library, good location, plenty enough of computers that you can use.
Some of the friendliest and most helpful city employees you will find in ABQ.
Openly discriminating based on medical conditions is a violation of the ADA
This place had a excellent variety of books and made for a great library
