"Typical Tesco"
Tesco PLC is a British multinational grocery and general merchandise retailer with headquarters in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom. It is the third largest retailer in the world measured by profit and fifth-largest retailer in the world measured by revenues. It has stores in 12 countries across Asia and Europe and is the grocery market leader in the UK (where it has a market share of around 28.4%), Ireland, Hungary, Malaysia and Thailand. Tesco was founded in 1919 by Jack Cohen as a group of market stalls. The Tesco name first appeared in 1924, after Cohen purchased a shipment of tea from T. E. Stockwell and combined those initials with the first two letters of his surname,[11] and the first Tesco store opened in 1931 (or 1929) in Burnt Oak, Barnet.is business expanded rapidly, and by 1939 he had over 100 Tesco stores across the country.[16] Originally a UK grocery retailer, Tesco has diversified geographically since the early 1990s and into areas such as the retailing of books, clothing, electronics, furniture, toys, petrol and software; financial services; telecoms and internet services. The 1990s saw Tesco reposition itself; it moved from being a down-market high-volume low-cost retailer, to one which appeals across many social groups, by offering products ranging from its "Tesco Value" items (launched 1993[10]) to its "Tesco Finest" range. This broadening of its appeal was successful, and saw the chain grow from 500 stores in the mid-1990s to 2,500 stores fifteen years later. Tesco is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index. It had a market capitalization of approximately £18.1 billion as of 22 April 2015, the 28th-largest of any company with a primary listing on the London Stock Exchange.
My partner went in to this shop last week and was at self check out scanning food when she asked for some backy (which usually they are happy to do and come over and scan it for us) On this day one of the managers decided he wasn't going to do it for her accusing her of trying to steal it. I'm waiting in the car and my partner walks out calmly and gets in the car I turn and look at the door and he's ran out and started hurling abuse at us ( I wasn't even in the store) we go back down today I go to self serve to get some alcahol and am refused point blank as he said he recognised me from yesterday trying to nick it. ( I don't think you did as I'm very sure I live in Shirehampton so this tescos isn't a usual stop for me) the manager then comes over to my partner and says she can't be in here (having rang customer's service and knowing for a fact that she isn't banned) he then goes and gets the store manager who comes out and talks to my partner. I'm still at self serve being refused alcahol then he says he can't sell me these items because there 'glass' the store manager then tells him to serve Me and he refuses so she gets somebody else . Tall, white male long brown hair . Absolutely spot on person every time I go In so friendly. Although the store manager was helpful the store really need to re- think there staffing situations exspecially management I was literally left looking like a fool at self serve because he accused me of something I didn't do. And after all this I go to my local Tescos at Shirehampton were I then grab my backy and drink and was sold it at self service...go figure.
I want to share a kindness above and beyond from Nathan, one of the store managers. He very kindly made sure we had enough rolls/bread for a party we were holding and then because I was unwell he carried the bread to our house with my 84 year old mother. We really, really appreciated his help. Thank you Nathan. Naomi
Was greeted by a devastatingly handsome young gent called Hamish. He located the Knorr Stockpots for me, and he even went on to describe a dish that he described as a : 'very simple, very quick and very delicious' that I must try with these. What an enthusiastic young man. I will definitely return because of Hamish.
Typical Tesco. It's fine, just wanted to call out exceptional work by Dan, a member of staff at this store. This is my local and whenever I go in he is always observant and works hard to ensures customers needs and expectations are met and exceeded. Give this lad a raise.
I came the day before my hen nite to buy some things and I bought: mini cocktail sausages. I eat them with my friends. sadly the marriage was cancelled but lots of goods and prices ok. I think I had a KitKat from there? I think so.
Friendly staff. Range of food is small. Prices of foods are usually more expensive than Metro stores e.g. Eastgate store. But their opening and closing hours are accurate compared to the Co-op's Bishopston branch.
Did its purpose - it was a Tesco express shop as I only needed one item and managed the self service tills It is what is says on the tin - an express store So I was only there a matter of a few minutes
The staff here are always putting stuff that isn't reduced in the reduced section. They do this so frequently that it's clearly not an honest mistake but a rather dishonest attempt to trick people
honestly never felt so safe in a tesco; security man doesn’t speak much, but his actions speak louder than words. Would recommend to anyone wanting to feel safe whilst buying snacks.
No alcohol? Seriously. I know it's Gloucester Road but all I wanted was a few ciders to take home and have never gone into a Tesco where that purchase wasn't easily made.
Wow. Just wow! I haven't had enough time to process my experiences here. It was beyond belief. Thank you so much for everything.
Really good range of items, definitely would recommend if you were looking to buy food and/or drink. They accept cash and card
Amazing service got what I needed nice quick and easy Yasmin was extremely helpful and friendly would recommend this store
Staff are great, friendly and helpful even the security guards help by taking a turn on the check out when necessary
Typical tesco express store filled with the basics and other store products handy for locals and students
Staff dont come to the till to serve you, they mostly just ignore customers who are waiting
The staff are always helpful and welcoming.
Staff were lazy, unfriendly and unhelpful
