"First of all PDSA DO NOT even deserve a one star rating"
"The worst experience I’ve ever had"
"This PDSA is really disappointing, no care or concern shown for my cat even though she’s been suffering for so long and been in multiple times with the same issue, no investigations were made, no blood tests, nothing, just get sent away and made to buy temporary relief meds also I don’t appreciate being blamed for the cause of my cats problem when my cat is treated like the queen she is and I’ve always made her health and life a priority"
"DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF ANIMALS! I called the emergency out of hours service because my cat was vomiting, unable to eat and drink and was bleeding"
"My baby pippa was really sick turned out she needed a operation, I've never known such a lovely place in my life they're so kind and caring for animals my baby was well looked after here and is now recovering well, she only had the op yesterday and yet is up and about and slowly getting back to her old self her wound is perfectly done I cant imagine it'll scar much at all, I'm ever so grateful for this pdsa its abit far from me but definitely going to be using them from now on for my fur babies highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a brilliant veterinary hospital, I'll be giving donations as soon as I can to this place and recommend other people do the same as they need more pet food blankets etc"
First of all PDSA DO NOT even deserve a one star rating. I wish I could give them a zero star instead! Our Yorkshire terrier Ben of 12 years sadly passed away on the 23rd February 2020. He was diagnosed with a collapse trachea. Although treatment of antibiotics was offered, this caused more issues for e.g. Sore/dry/red itching of the skin and the need to eat more than usual. The doctor did mention that this would be a side effect but thinking back now, I wish I did not put my poor baby through even more pain. :( I personally feel they should not even prescribe these types of medications that create more harm than good! Our first experience of visiting Thamesmead PDSA Pet Hospital was absolutely disgusting! We had an appointment and waited half an hour to be seen after our original appointment time. A receptionist did apologize for the wait but this was still unacceptable as this was an emergency appointment! When were called in, we were in the room for about a minute or two. The doctor was a trainee but can not remember his name, unfortunately. Our dog Ben was given an injection as he was continuously vomiting and this helped to stop it. Coming near to the end of his life our poor baby stopped eating, drinking and did not not even have the strength to stand! This was going on for about 2-3 days. He was refused further more treatment for e.g. The drip. We called numerous times asking for advice and requesting for him to be put on the drip but they responded in saying something on the lines of "we do not know how he will respond or if he will get through it." At our second appointment, we were turned away because the staff did not know how to handle his behavior because when Ben was in a sensitive situation or stressful environment; he unfortunately became snappy when examined. For this reason they felt he was "well" but in actual fact he was very very ill and not taken seriously! We feel the staff are very unprofessional and not enough training is given especially when dealing with certain types of behaviours and stressful situations with animals in their care. Sadly our beautiful baby passed away around 10pm in my bedroom. Afterwards, we phoned Thamesmead Hospital and told them the very sad news and the receptionist literally replied in a light/happy tone of voice "Do you want to bring him in? And we'll have a look at him." We were all distraught! and I was very angry because they did not want to see Ben when he was alive and all of a sudden we get asked to "Bring him in and we'll have a look at him" after he passed. No words of sympathy and empathy were given and I find that absolutely terrible. The night we brought Ben to the hospital, my mother asked if she can come back the next day to see our baby and was told no. I would most definitely not recommend taking your pet to this hospital or any PDSA branch. I know this is a charity organisation but all they care about is your voluntary donations and if you decide not to donate, your pet will not be treated or seen by a doctor. I feel all of these five star ratings are either people whom are loaded with cash to give a very good contribution everytime they hit the place or are just simply lucky to actually see a very professional doctor that actually cares about the animals welfare! I will also like to complain about the waiting times. Customers are not seen to on time but I just find it strange that if a customer is late then they will get turned away or have to wait longer for your appointment especially the branch at New Cross. Finally, we put forward a compliant (last year) in writing in very long/detailed email to customer service to the PDSA team and waited for quite some time due to the covid-19 pandemic. This I personally felt was an excuse and to keep us holding on. When we finally received a response they basically put the blame on our beautiful baby Ben as they were unable to treat him because he was "snappy." They did not take any responsibility what so ever! I can not stress this enough but please do not register your pets with PDSA.
The worst experience I’ve ever had. After taking my rabbit Roo to the emergency vets this morning for a potential blockage/gi stasis the vet did one glucose test and decided she instantly needed to be put down. No consideration or thought went behind her words… no thought of “this is someone’s beloved pet” just cold and bitter. I’m so grateful that I didn’t listen and took my rabbit straight home and waited for her normal vets to open she’s now being treated PROPERLY we were given many courses of treatments to try with euthanasia not even being a mention. Never again. I have never felt so speechless and distraught. How can you decide in less than 5 minutes that you have no other option than to put her down. You didn’t care to try a single treatment plan to help her. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING the vet in question should not be a veterinarian! I understand that she still after treatment may need to be put to sleep but that is a last resort after doing EVERYTHING THEY POSSIBLY CAN. The vet in question should NOT be allowed to deliver the harsh news as she had not an ounce of sympathy in her words. Disgusted. UPDATE: 15/03/2023 Roo is alive & well. After being told by this practice she had a blockage and needed to be put down I can confirm Roo does not/did not have a blockage. Did not need to be put down. And is alive, well & thriving. The vet who “treated” Roo should NOT have a license. To think if we’d of listened to her Roo wouldn’t be here. Absolutely disgraceful we bring our pets to you with trust. Trusting that you know what your doing. I knew the signs that Roo were giving me were point to early gi stasis and I was RIGHT. She went to her usual vets @ vets4pets they took her in for the day giving her emeprid, fibreplex, intravenous drip, scans & pain meds & she’s now home like nothing happened. Do not bring your pets here for misdiagnosis because I cannot tell you the heart ache, devastation and anxiety we have felt since this happened. So to the vet in question… thanks for nothing.
This PDSA is really disappointing, no care or concern shown for my cat even though she’s been suffering for so long and been in multiple times with the same issue, no investigations were made, no blood tests, nothing, just get sent away and made to buy temporary relief meds also I don’t appreciate being blamed for the cause of my cats problem when my cat is treated like the queen she is and I’ve always made her health and life a priority. The flea treatment are just cheaper versions of the proper ones like prinocate instead of advocate, and the when my cat tried that she had a really bad reaction to it, she’s had stomach issues which no one has bothered to look into but because I’m on benefits this is the best service I can expect so as soon as I can get the money together I’ll be removing my cat from here as I assume most of the great reviews on here are for more simple straight forward procedures or people who have more money to donate. I will also say every time I go I never get seen on time, one of the vets is just miserable and stinks and the reception staff just seem ti be talking amongst themselves constantly and don’t seem the friendliest so a lot of improvements need to be made even if it is a charity
DISGUSTING TREATMENT OF ANIMALS! I called the emergency out of hours service because my cat was vomiting, unable to eat and drink and was bleeding. I was told it wasn’t an emergency and that I should ring back in the morning. First thing I called just to get this pathetic new system whereby you don’t get to speak to anyone, you have to go online to request a call back. I’m unable to go online so I’m given another number to call. I was on hold for 44 minutes just to get through to someone who took the details and said I would be called back with an appointment within 5 days!!! I explained my cat was in pain and unable to eat or drink and is bleeding, and all they said was it might be quicker than 5 days! DISGUSTING! I immediately went to a private vet who diagnosed a blockage in the urethra! If left any longer she would have died! 2 days later and my cat is on the mend but I’ve STILL not had the call back! Appealing system, disgusting neglectful organisation. You should be ashamed of yourselves!
My baby pippa was really sick turned out she needed a operation, I've never known such a lovely place in my life they're so kind and caring for animals my baby was well looked after here and is now recovering well, she only had the op yesterday and yet is up and about and slowly getting back to her old self her wound is perfectly done I cant imagine it'll scar much at all, I'm ever so grateful for this pdsa its abit far from me but definitely going to be using them from now on for my fur babies highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a brilliant veterinary hospital, I'll be giving donations as soon as I can to this place and recommend other people do the same as they need more pet food blankets etc. Thank you so much
Usually okay, people on reception are sometimes not very friendly. But this week I have been completely left in the dark about getting my dogs necessary medication in. Have made every attempt at communicating about it but have been ignored and left to worry like crazy. They are a good charity for those that can’t afford to go elsewhere but the vets aren’t very chirpy either, overall could improve in many ways. But I still donate every time I require their help because of my love for animals. They could improve on their willingness to turn away helpless pedestrians with injured wildlife too. At least take them in until a wildlife rescue can get them. As an animal charity, welfare of animals should be number one priority
I don’t care if this is a charity it’s absolutely disgusting how these animals are treated and the reviews says it all!! P.D.S.A apparently haven’t got time to scan the animals that people bring in to them. Telling them a pack of lies. When the animal isn’t even theirs and the animal is put down is disgusting. This says it all about the P.D.S.A Thamesmead. If people have got animals and they can’t afford private vet fees then they should not have an animal!! You tell me you can trust people that walk through your doors. How do you know if the person brings in an animal into you, you have never seen before? If you don’t scan the animals and ask for their ID, that animal could have been stolen!!!
So I had to rush a dog in as an emergency early evening time suspected posisioning within minutes she was seen and and admitted I also had to bring in another dog who suffered the same. They were very quick I'm getting both in and stabilising both dogs. One was free other we paid for found the care was very quick vets were very friendly and helpful towards us. Luckily both girls have survived so worth every penny. For those who have said the practice needs painting and decorating. The main thing is that they save animals on need when they need it. Can't thank the vets themselves and a few of the receptionist enough. Honey and missy very lucky to be seen so quickly and saved much appreciated.
First experience of using the PDSA. I have to say I cannot fault the service. My initial contact was via the emergency service and the female who dealt with my call was brilliant. I was driving at the time and she waited for me to find somewhere safe to talk. When attending my appointment the receptionist was dealing with another client who was having issues. I was impressed with her polite assertiveness, seeing that i was waiting she requested that the gentleman take a seat. I feel extremely lucky and privileged that this service is available to those who are on low incomes or benefits. Thank you so much for seeing my beloved Kevin so quickly.
words cannot describe how thankful we are to the pdsa. our dog quickly become dangerously ill with bladder stones and unfortunately the first surgery they did was unsuccessful, it was very touch and go and we thought we might lose him but they seemed so determined and seemed to care so much that they agreed to operate on him again and thankfully they were able to remove all stones and we were able to bring him home. The team there really do seem to care and be compassionate and I know my family will always speak highly of them
I took my cat to the pdsa for urgent treatment. Miscommunication happened about when to bring him in but they were awesome and saw him immediately. His injury was fully explained (huge abscess on his tailbone from a bite, which then burst on the way to vet) and prognosis was given. He had to have an anaesthetic prior to treatment as he was aggressive through the pain but he was all good by lunchtime. Will take about 2 weeks to heal but I feared the worst not knowing what was wrong in the days leading up to it.
I found them polite, helpful and relatively cheerful as they can be too already upset owners, they took my dog in and has had her all night in agony and I cannot say a a bad word they have been amazing,,didn't even look at my paperwork till they had got my dog stable they didn't care about bit paper they cared about my dog first,,,and I'm glad to say so far my baby girl is pulling thro so far,,,
Went in today at half four to euthanise our beloved pet rat who was four and a half he had cancer. The vet that did the euthanization was disgusting no compassion or empathy handled him with no care and didn’t want to know did not speak to me at all not even a hello or a how are you. He picked up our beloved pet like he was picking up his phone completely manhandled our little man
They helped in an emergency with my new pup. Can't thank them enough. The only issue I have is that it's hard to contact anyone unless it's an emergency and it gets so busy with the dogs and animals (some owners lack control with their pets). However, this is not the vets fault. They provide an essential service that needs extra funding and resources.
Had to.take my puppy there. She was looked after well there and treated. I was always kept in the loop as to what was happening which was good. I only gave two stars because the cost was very dear. My dog was in there for less than 24 hours and it costs us almost £600. Despite that the staff was friendly and they seemed to know what they were doing.
Dr Collazo was so kind, attentive and informative. She was compassionate and accommodating and having discussed our family pet's issues with the follow up vet today, we have learnt that her notes are also extremely detailed and comprehensive. Thank you for seeing us.
Saved my dogs life infected uterus temp 107 a mass in her tummy 1st pic when she come home to now I could never of afforded the treatment I can't stress enough get your female dogs neutered early as possible this could of saved a lot of pain and stress
We went late Saturday night unexpectedly and everyone was polite. The staff are attentive and friendly. There's a faulty door that needs fixing, it should open on command from reception but the staff had to keep running out to open it.
The vet was lovely and kind to my puppy who had swallowed a sock. Swift service, quick resolution, and my puppy was able to come straight home. Only reason I have not given a 5 is because the practice could really do with a makeover.
I would to say they are wonderful people. They took great care of my dog in her last few minutes. Talked me through everything what was going to happen and supported me on this hard time. Thank you so much.
The staff at the pdsa thamesmead saved my 11 year old cats life ,I brought him in fitting and nearly lifeless ,5 days later he was home again..I have nothing but praise for all the staff who saved Mr tibbs
Dropped our cat over here for overnight observation after this afternoons operation. Staff team are very thorough and friendly. Hope for a good night for our dear loved cat and a safe collection tomorrow.
We have been so impressed by the professionalism and great care of the vets here. They are caring, loving and very friendly. I would recommend them. Thank you so much for your help. From Charlie and Lola
Fantastic service, helpful from the outset. Customer service is second to none. Truly appreciate all the help and support given by all staff. Thank you so much for everything you did for our cat Tahmei.
Thank you to all the staff for saving my pet's life. I really appreciate your work and commitment. Always me and my friends, when we're around, I'll donate to your hospital. You are the best!!!
My pooch had two major surgeries over the last 3 years, just fabulous & so very grateful for giving my dog the ability to move himself around again. Thank you PDSA Thamesmead, your the best!!

Took a stray cat here and they were very helpful. Friendly out of hours vet. Have been here before in less fortunate circumstances and the staff have always been helpful and patient.
They never answer phone calls when I need to book an appointment how disappointing. I’ve been on hold for 25mins and they still don’t answer. You surely can’t be that busy. …
Reception staff sent us away and told us to book an appointment online, went to another vet my cat had to be put down that evening due to a broken tail that affected its spine.
The vets there are so good and compassionate I don’t know what I would do without them my kitten hurt his leg and they saw him ASAP and have sorted him out they are angels x
Very rude receptionist talked down to me my cat had kidney failure I had brought her in 3weeks beforehand and they told me she just had an infection it was a different vet
We brought our dog Ralph with sore paw and was seen by Poppy who is a first class vet and has a lot compassion for animals she gave Ralph a proper check over
Lovely place, lovely people, treatment good, prices sometimes a bit steep but it's all for PDSA charity and I have one happy cat!
Brilliant staff and dealt with my cats illness with care and customer service brilliant
I would give no stars if I could, both times I’ve been here the vets have been rude
Very helpful, and they took amazing care of my dog when he went in for surgery
