Came to watch the Husker game. Not crowded when we arrived. No acknowledgment from staff well after sitting down. Finally a nice gentleman said the gal running around had our table and would be with us soon. She was a waitress/bartender served 2 new tables before taking our drink order. I explained to our group of 8 that clearly they are short staffed and to be patient. However, waitress behaved annoyed when we politely asked about missing drinks and food. Lunch delivered very very late, we almost left without eating and other patrons had left without food. Instead of an apology of any kind the waitress stood at the computer and complained about patrons checking with her on when they could expect their orders. Nothing was discounted for such poor service. We thought for sure she the Shirley Temple for my 10 year old that took an hour and a half to get would be taken off. The obnoxious attitude is why we reviewed (this is maybe my second review of my entire life) Being understaffed is just something we have to be understanding of - being mocked when asking about drinks and food missing into an hour and longer - ridiculous. At the very end she was apologetic. Waitress/bartender would benefit from stress coaching and learn to communicate to patrons. Most people would wait patiently if treated politely. Ending on a good note- the food was super super good! Good food was a nice surprise to an awful experience.

Tried to enjoy brunch and watch the NFL championship game. When we walked in a server greeted us and I informed her we were a party of 2. She stated there were no tables available as they have all been reserved. When I looked around there were multiple tables and booths empty. I called the location in mission and also the location in Shawnee and asked if a reservation was needed. Both locations told me they do NOT do reservations. So i was curious as to why the plaza location told me all the open tables have been reserved. I checked online on OpenTable and also the bar website prior to arriving to make sure a reservation was not needed. I’m not sure why there were plenty of open tables yet we could not dine there. The plaza location is a 2 min drive from my home and it was also my first time there. Not a good experience or first impression.

Every bit of food we had was average. Not good, not bad. The mozzarella sticks were obviously previously frozen sticks that came out of a bag from Cisco, Buffalo chicken sandwich was okay, chicken fried steak, pork tenderloin and funnel cake desert were all just middle of the road, nothing to write home. The service was very unwelcoming and unhelpful, sort of just “Whatcha want”. To the point where we didn’t even get a name of the bartender whose bar we sat at. When we asked about the dinner special, she just looked at us and goes “Steak.” That really suns it up for me! Again, very middle of the road. Guess that’s what you should expect with a place with a name like “The Bar”. Cant recommend this place enough if you just want something that will have you say, “Yeah that was alright, I guess.”

Burgers (pictured with fries and tots) and Impossible burger (pictured with sweet potato waffle fries), were good, large beef patties! I personally don't care for that type of French fry (limp/soggy). The tots and sweet potato were good. Service was very friendly. Went on a Wednesday during noon hour, they weren't busy. Lots of TVs in this place, I bet it's good during sporting events. Oh, I heard their BLTs are excellent.

THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE ESPN+!!! We waited 40 minutes to order and the waitress acted like we inconvenienced her. We had a big group, and were excited to come to a bar and eat and drink, but this was by far the worst service I have ever experienced. She rolled her eyes and after we ordered, came back and was mad that we ordered something with chicken, even though they were out of it!! She also was wearing shorts that were not meant for her body, but that’s another story. Horrible horrible service and out of a lot of food. Very disappointed.

This is a sports bar. So it can get a bit noisy. That being said every time we've gone it's been great. If you're trying to watch a game there is a TV within view of every seat. The prices aren't bad at all the service is casual and pleasant, the food, being standard sports bar stuff is good.

We really like this place, BUT it's hard to come here to watch sports because they REFUSE to play sound to the games. It's frustrating because they market themselves as a sports bar. :( Other than that, and the fact that the music they play in place of the games is trash, it's a good little bar! Good food, and the waitresses we have are fantastic, totally on it, and very friendly. We just really, really wish the bartender would agree to play games instead of his music.

I live across the street. Of course, I have grown to love the people here and atmosphere. Now I'm here at least twice a week. One thing that sits with me though, is that after one time of visiting, upon my return, everyone remembered my name, drink, and the way I wanted my wings lol. I'm all about service and the Bar takes the cake - or the wings? Lol no seriously. Get the wings and tots. Your favorite beer. And say hi if you come in because I'm probably there too

We really like this place. It's not the best bar, and it doesn't have the best specials. But it's pretty good. The staff is fantastic. They remember us and will come and say hi. Food is good and for the area it does have pretty good prices. One thing I really like is they have a daily specials. So there is always a cheap option. It's a really good neighborhood bar. Really fun for a chiefs game. Stop by get the Thai lettuce wrap. You will have a good time.

First off: great place. My personal downside: I was looking for a French Dip that didn't cost thirty-four million dollars, and I got a good one here...However; they did not have Au Jous the following five times I came by....I called today, as I move away, and not only did they have my sandwich, they accommodated me forgetting my wallet. This is a great spot. Decent Happy Hour deals and a no-frills but nice enough spot to grab a decent selection of good beers and drinks. 5-stars for being exactly what it needs to be. No more, no less. And competent, friendly service is another plus.

Potatoes were the part of my experience. The rest of my food was cold. The waitress came to our table once to take my order then I had to flag her down after she never returned to give us a check. I thought she took an hour lunch break or something. It wasn't busy at all when I was there. One time was good enough for me. No one at my table was happy about our service. The seasoning on the potatoes were awesome!!

We moved in across the street from this place and decided to try it out one week night. LOVE IT. Extremely cheap drinks and cheaper food, HUGE portions. Have been back 3 or 4 times since then and we really love it. The staff is really nice and friendly, made us feel right at home. We told her we moved across the street and she said she hopes we become regulars! Definitely recommend. And they have 23948 tv's!

We live relatively close and order food from here every other month or so. We have literally NEVER gotten what we ordered. One of the two meals we pick up has always been incorrect. Not like "I said no pickles!" but like, "oh this is an entirely different entree than what I was expecting". That said, we've definitely still eaten everything and it's always been tasty. The gumball machine of restaurants.

We've been to Bar West Plaza several times. It's exactly what you should expect from a local sports bar. Friendly staff. Big TVs everywhere. Nice cozy atmosphere. I've had burgers, nachos, tater tots and the club sandwich. The club sandwich is my favorite. It has a good amount of meat on toasted sourdough. Really good.

Great place with great food in a great location, just what the west plaza neighborhood needed! A young professional crowd is very apparent. Great brunch, good prices, tasty food with lots of options at a good price. Tons of TVs for watching any game you may want to see, but beware it is EXTREMELY loud. So loud it is hard to talk to people at your own table... that is the reason for 4 stars.

Best Chicken and Waffle sandwich that I have ever had. The waffles were nice and sweet so you didn't need syrup. Then they gave a decent piece of chicken with bacon, lettuce, tomato, and aoli sauce. It made chicken and waffle into an actual sandwich. All and all the place was clean, service was good, and had fair price for what you get. I would definitely come back for brunch again.

Completely impressed with this place, the yummy food, reasonable prices and friendly staff. It just opened so they are working out the kinks but that is to be expected. We have had the burgers, sliders and pasta which were all good. They have TONS of large TV's to watch the games on, inside and outside seating (2 tables outside) and a full bar with drink specials.

Nice sports bar in the west Plaza. TVs are everywhere, so you can guarantee if there is a game you want to watch, it will be on one of them. Service has been great each time I have been here. Recently went with a large group from work for an impromptu happy hour and they were very accommodating. Food and drinks are both good and pretty reasonably priced.

Went at lunch time and had a seat on the patio. Great fried chicken bacon ranch salad. Good service and great long Island iced teas. Overall a good place to people watch.

The Bar West Plaza is exactly what this area needed! It's a very comfortable atmosphere to grab lunch, hang with friends or watch a game - TVs everywhere! Food and service are great and there is a large selection of wine and beers on tap. They also offer a private room for watch parties or other gatherings. Two thumbs up!

This place was amazing! They had great service, shoutout to Josh:) We got the loaded fries, cheese curds, and the classic burger. My friend and I couldn’t decide which the favorite was. All three were so good. Definitely recommend going here when you’re in Kansas City and looking for a great and affordable place to eat.

This location of the bar is terrible. Food is always under or over cooked. Service is just meh, and it smells like it hasn't been cleaned in ages. The mission location is top notch. This one is a disappointment.

Great little gem in West Plaza with something for everyone. Great vegan options too! I had the vegan grilled cheese and it was amazing--cheese was flavorful and melty. Staff was super friendly and the service was great as well. Definitely will be coming back to try the other meatless options.

This is a good spot for a casual dinner and some drinks... just west of the plaza. The prices were pretty good as was the food. My group had a really good burger, some killer chicken mac n cheese, and a couple of good wraps. All were great. The service was also good. Definitely going back.

I had a business lunch here today with a vendor. Shauna provided tremendous service by getting a complex order accurate, keeping drinks filled and providing such a pleasant experience with a smile. I will go back.

A hidden jewel here in KC. If your a football fan I can't think of a better place to watch the game.. choked full of TV's and they are more than happy to get your game/team on one of them. Great food at a fair price and the service is about as professional as you will find. A+ / 5Stars

The Bar is exactly what West Plaza was missing!! Friendly faces, great management, drink specials are superb, and the food is fantastic (buffalo chicken dip, A+). Perfect spot to watch a game or casually hang out with friends. Also.. 50 cent wing Sundays.

The bartenders and servers are great people, very friendly and helpful. They have good bar food, a decent selection of drinks (the usual beer, wine, cocktails), and the patrons are always good for a laugh. Its a neighborhood bar that attracts all types.

Yum. The new day for the meatless menu is Wednesday! And there's a new vegan dessert. Shut the front door-- this place is amazing. It's chill enough to take all the kids too! Probably not on a busy bar night, but they love the vegan menu! It's paradise!

I live a few houses down from here. Food is good and it always seems like it's just the right amount of busy (never dead, but rarely feels crowded either). Whatever you order, make sure you get a side of sweet potato fries with marshmallow fluff.

This place is absolutely excellent if you're in the area and looking to watch sports. Very friendly and accommodating staff and TVs on almost every square inch of wall space in their dining area! Food selection is great for the price.

Nice corner neighborhood bar with arguably the best burger in the city. I read some of the reviews and was skeptical, but good gravy the Bacon Jam Burger and the Classic Burger are freakin’ delicious. It’s like a party in your mouth!

We loved the games and atmosphere but the food was awful. The burger patty was so over done and dry. The bun was subpar. The onion rings were ok but they couldn't make up for the horrible burger. If you go here, eat beforehand.

Enjoyed watching the KU game here with my family, had the Southwest Steak Salad and it was fabulous. Good food, great service and a fun atmosphere...... I will definitely be visiting The Bar West again in the near future.

Visited here this morning evening for dinner. The food is great, drinks top notch, and the service from Shauna was awesome. She was very attentive and so knowledgeable about the menu. Ask for Shauna she treat you right.

I love this little place. A bright and sunny spot that reflects the disposition of those who serve there. The food is delicious. It's the freshest, most generous Cobb salad I've ever found anywhere, and for under $9.

This is my favorite neighborhood bar!! Worth walking in the humidity. Tarvis, Bri, Shauna, and the rest of the staff made the environment so fun and welcoming.
