I'm sorry to say I had a poor experience at the Bike Doctor. TLDR; we got our bikes back in worse shape than we dropped them off and our wallets were left ~$200 lighter. My partner and I both had our bikes serviced at the end of March/beginning of April. She was recommended the basic tune up and I was recommended the mid-tier tune up. It should be noted that both of us are quite easy going and we've also had our fair share of experience working in the customer service sector. We were "greeted" by a moody young gent at the door who pointed us over to the service counter. Props to the girl actually working at the service counter (she said she was new, didn't catch her name, she was awesome). She recommended us which services we should get for our respective bikes. Sounded good to us, we admittedly don't know squat about bikes so we are more than happy to trust the pros. We left our bikes and came back a week and half (ish) later to pick them up after we got notice they were ready. We rolled up, excited to take our newly tuned rides on the seawall. As we enter, same thing with moody teenager, okay no big deal. We go to the service counter and the store manager helps us out and grabs our bikes. My partner and I waited around for a solid 15 minutes just for him to bring them out. Her and I both joked that they may have lost our bikes. This was just sort of.. strange. We're patient people, has nothing to do with that. But the manager then said something about it being hard to do with only two hands or something. K. My partner pays her $79.99 plus tax for her basic and I pay my $129.99 and we head out to the seawall in False Creek. As soon as I get on my bike, something is wrong and doesn't feel right. My chain is clipping and catching every few rotations, the gears are skipping and my main gear selection that I use are stuttering every couple rotations, acting like they want to shift. Disappointed and disheartened we cut our ride short and head straight back to the Bike Doctor. I'm not about to go full Karen, but I'm a little sadface. I ask to speak to the STORE manager (who I had just seen head downstairs upon my entry). The girl at the checkout goes downstairs and obviously asks for him, she comes back and says I need to talk to the SERVICE manager. Okay.. I'm being shirked. Fair enough, it is a SERVICE issue. so I talk to the service manager, tell him what's up, he takes the bike for a ride up the street, down again and quickly agrees that there is definitely something wrong. He troubleshoots and finds out it's the chain and replaces it, free of charge I should add.. but just leaves me with the impression that our bikes are not being properly tested. If I'm paying $129.99, I would at the very least expect someone to jump on it and ride it around the block. That clearly was all it took to notice this issue. Seems okay so I bounce with my bike. Last weekend rolls around and we take our bikes back out on the seawall. Both of them are acting stranger than they were when we dropped them off. Mine is vintage, so I get it's going to be temperamental (though hopefully not after dropping it off to be worked on for $130), but my partner's is a newer cruiser and should not be tweaking out with the gear shifting, or producing clicking noise with chain rotation. After all this is said and done, I literally can't be bothered to go back there a third time and ask for more help.
I like the store. I like the loads of inventory. I like the bikes chosen to sell. And I return there for these reasons. The service is definitely not what I expect from any bike shop. Moody, disagreeable, temperamental, and truly argumentative at times. I do not know why. I have worked in many bicycle stores around Vancouver and Toronto for many years. People working at bicycle store are always UNIQUE individuals with their own special talents and flaws. Many are more artist than mechanic (this can be as good, as it is bad). Most have excellent skills repairing one or two types of bicycle. Rarely, if ever, will you find any bicycle store that is as good at fixing a top race, triathlon, or entry level road bike, a full-suspension, hard tail, electric, or beginner mountain bike, and inexpensive kids, fixie, relaxed, recumbent, tandem, urban, or cruiser bike. I'm sure I missed a few categories, but my point is bicycles are as unique as those that ride them. Don't pretend to be an expert at all things. It's not possible nor expected. So, if a customer enters your store and states a fact, please don't get defensive or act like you know everything. Be confident in your work, but know when to say, "I don't know" or nothing at all or the toughest test; when the customer is wrong learn how to get your correction heard without being rude. Especially when a customer insists the sky is blue and suns out yet everyone can plainly see darkness and rain; learn to be polite and get the customer to discover the mistake on their own ... with a little help. Otherwise, it all comes across negatively if you contradict a customer about everything, every time they come in and spend money in you shop. "Be friendly!" Say hello, how're you doing? Nice day! Having a good ride? Or "Have a great ride." Stop being so friggin miserable! Please, go out your way to hire people with a bigger, better, brighter personality than you have. Don't have more mechanics hiding in the back than you have sales working the floor and assisting customers. Some days are better than others, and I do understand owning a bicycle store is a challenge, please don't give up because you get a few bad reviews. This is meant to be constructive criticism, not a beat down. Visit other bicycle stores around and outside your territory. Look for the best shops around and bring back all the good things you see to your shop. Start a program with another store or stores to visit the other's and provide feedback. See what they can do better than you can ever do. Working together can be the best move you'll ever make.
I understand that I brought my bike in suddenly for a repair. But they had to turn me away and told me to come back in 2 weeks. That immediately turned me off, this meant that their volume of repairs if pretty much fully booked. But still, it really sucked as if you had a bike accident, well too bad just lug that home and come back at a later date. The lower rating is not due to this however. The mechanic mentioned that I had tuning issues with indexing but turns out to be skipping due to the internal hub (that i told him about) that caused the chains to skip. I understand the mechanics of the bike with indexing and also experienced adjusting the high and low limiter screws. Also overhauled multiple hubs and repaired two vintage bikes - I think I know what I am doing. This was not the case and this was the cause of the 3 star rating, failure to diagnose even after I told him that the hub body was missing a spring/pawls inside, this OBVIOUSLY causes some parts of the chain to skip, in select gears with varying tension. If it was the case with indexing, then the signs of it would differ. But the attitude was poor and was not willing to listen to a home mechanic. I then headed to sports junkies, service is always AMAZING there. He saw that I needed catridge bearings and suggested that I head to La Bicicletta Pro Shop. I told them what I needed - true my wheels, change both front and rear bearings and bottom bracket bearings. No more no less. Problem was fixed just like that. Bike is now buttery smooth and the mechanic there said "this should fix all your gear changing problems". Like what I expected as well, they didn't tune my bike either and it was just as buttery smooth gear changing prior to the hub problem. Regardless, I had great service here as well. I needed some parts for an older bike and the counter folks are great at grabbing what you need. Giving you sweet deals...Honestly, maybe the mechanics here are over worked or that one guy was having a shitastic day. Who knows. But I will not be able to come back here for any bike repairs or servicing.
Nightmare experience. My wife bought a brand new cruiser bike from this shop last summer. The bike was kept in a safe location at our home and ridden only a dozen or so times. The bike sold to us ended up having the front wheel detach completely while my wife was riding it. This was a bolted on wheel and not a quick release. My wife had a bad fall and sustained a concussion which had her out of work for weeks. Fortunately it wasn’t on a busy road or else the accident may have been deadly. We visited Bike Doctor with the bike after the accident. We were met with accusations that we must have left the bike somewhere where thieves may have tampered with the wheel, etc. When we explained that the bike was kept safely stored we got blank stares from the staff. They said they’d take the bike in for inspection to see if there was a fault on their end. My wife and I were understandably emotional and shaken after the accident. The staff interacted with us mechanically and without any empathy, not even offering any condolences for the horrendous accident. After they took our bike in, we get a call back a few days later saying they’ve completed an inspection and they can’t find any evidence that the fault came on their end. Again, no sympathy or empathy towards our situation. They quoted a few hundred dollars to get the bent fork replaced and I told them they can keep the bike. I don’t trust this place and don’t want any products they’ve laid their hands on. I’ve been cycling for years and seen my share of falls and minor accidents but I have NEVER seen a front wheel detach from a moving bicycle. This was a terrifying and traumatic experience for my wife and I. Maybe the fault was not truly on their end but at the very least a professional business should train their staff to have courtesy and warmth. Hard times are no excuse for accusatory and cold behaviour to your customers. I will never visit this bike shop again.
As an avid cyclist who uses her bike on the daily to commute, you would expect me to go for a tune up as prescribed(AT LEAST once every 6 months). However, despite cycling through snow this winter, I waited a whole two years to bring my new bike in for a tune up. I set out browsing the bike shops on Broadway for a servicing that could be affordable to a student like myself. At some locations on Broadway, I received quotes upwards of $500.00, presented to me by somewhat arrogant technicians. My search ended when I walked into The Bike Doctor as the technician(or Doctor, if you will..) I spoke with was very humble and assessed my needs, respectfully, by asking a marvellously relevant slew of questions. These questions helped him to determine what kind of services I would truly need, which meant I was not spending unnecessary cash. The price was very affordable for me, but that wasn't the memorable part of the service, the memorable part was the needs assessment that this technician took me through to really personalize my experience! Can't remember the technicians name, unfortunately, but he was an experienced bloke, by the sounds of it! Thank you Bike Doctor! :)
New to Vancouver and was looking for a bike shop to serve all my bike needs and found the Bike Doctor had great reviews, and seemed to be one of the best in the city. Came in for a small bike repair on the rear wheel ( replacing some spokes and truing the bike wheel. Was told that it will be ready the next day by 3pm, even stated on the receipt. I came by the next day at 5:30pm to find the bike hadn't been worked on and that there was a miscommunication internally. I didn't receive any call about a delay. Was told to come back the next day and the bike ended up being ready then. However, I was looking for a discount, as I spent one hour round trip coming to pick up the bike that wasn't ready the day before. However, was told that only the manager could do that, essentially asking me to do another 1 hour round trip to come in when the manager is there. Was totally okay about the internal miscommunication as mistakes happen but thought the bike store would compensate as a respect for a customers time as well. Thought this shop was worth the distance from my place but will now look for another bike shop in the city for my future needs.
Could be 4 stars or less, but I believe the issues mentioned below are minor, so I hope they are going to be fixed. Ordered a Surly bike 2 weeks ago, being told 1-2 weeks. Pinged via email on 12th day if the bike is ready or it's delayed. Got an answer that it will be ready likely the next day and they will call. Silence. [they later say they called me and left a message - not sure where they called, I checked the call history, nor I had anything on the voice mail]. Pinged on 16th day. Got an answer that is in the bracket above. Arrived to the shop, said to employee that I'm here to grab my bike. The employee said that I have to pay [for the bike I already paid], but seems like the employee had no idea what to do so this was his easy solution. My bike had a label on it like it's for sale. Was waiting for the likely-the-shop-owner (I talked to him on email) to resolve the situation. tldr / conclusion: the service quality in my specific case was bad, though the reason seems to be an absence of processes within the company, and it's easily fixable, though I don't know why it hasn't been solved yet
I love the Bike Doctor and everyone that works there! Especially Jeff! Everyone is so helpful and genuinely wants you to be successful in your biking adventures. They are knowledgeable and kind and are in the business because they genuinely love everything cycling. I bought my first bike from here and have been commuting for 2 years. I have regularly come in with questions, just to look around, and to learn about anything new that might be helpful to know with my cycling routine. If you just have questions and want to get an honest answer without being pressured to buy things that you don’t understand yet, this is the place to go. They will listen and help understand what your needs are and tell you all your options. If you want to think about it and come back they never make you feel bad, and more importantly, will leave you with information to go research so you know their recommendations are solid before you move forward with your purchases. The store is a city staple and Vancouver wouldn’t be the same without them. Best bike shop in the city for sure!
Do yourself a favour and go anywhere else. I had the unfortunate situation of having to replace my bike after it was stolen. I went into the newly managed Bike Doctor and after having next to no selection of bikes I was sold one that was too large for me (but the associate pressed that the fit was perfect). Two days after picking up my bike I was laid off due to Covid. Not being able to have the expense of a new bike (and no need for one without a work commute) I brought it back hoping to negotiate the $80 restocking fee. They weren't open to discussing it at all. Even putting the $80 towards a store credit to service a beater-bike my friend was giving me. In the end they felt taking my $80 was more important than securing a $200 tune up, had no customer service/care for my situation, and overall from beginning to end felt like a sad version of the old Bike Doctor before the original owner retired. Honestly should have changed the name because this place is NOTHING like the old business. They lost a customer for life.
Took my bike in for a tune-up and the store seemed to be understaffed. It took me close to 30 minutes to get help from staff (store only had a few customers in it). Gave my bike to the mechanic, told to come back a few days later. I came back to pick up my bike and waited another 20 minutes to get help. The employee helping me went looking for the bike and came back telling me he couldn't find it. Went to look somewhere else in the store and came back telling me he found it but that the bike actually hadn't been worked on at all because it wasn't 'in the usual place'. He told me they were booked solid and that I'd have to wait another 4-5 days to get it tuned up. Really? After you misplace my bike and don't even phone me to let me know it hasn't been worked on, you don't try and smooth things over by expediting the tune-up? Not impressed. Waste of time. To be fair, this experience was last fall. Maybe things have changed since.
I've had to have 3 repairs done to my bike recently, and the employees at The Bike Doctor were fabulous. They listened patiently to my likely very boring stories about how the damage happened, and then showed me some techniques to try so that the damage could perhaps be avoided in the future. They did temporary repairs on my bike each time so that I could continue to ride it safely until either a repair appt was available, or when the necessary part came in. The full repairs were done quickly and competently, and all the little extra adjustments I asked for (i.e. basket rack needed tightening) were addressed as well. I was also given expertise help to find a new seat that was most comfortable for me-- the employee explained everything thoroughly and then let me have as much time as I needed to decide. These people are great: super friendly, skilled and really seem to care that you get the most out of your bike!
I recently had my bike serviced at Bike Doctor and the staff were all so friendly and knowledgeable, I am not a very bike savvy person but Meesha was very helpful and explained all the issues in a way I could understand. She fixed my bike on the spot free of charge and even showed me how to put my chain back on! Super helpful she is now my go to gal. 3 days after this my bike had been stolen, after minutes of wallowing I decided it was time to purchase a new one, upon arriving I was greeted by David who was soooo welcoming and very sympathetic to my situation. He let me test ride as many bikes as I wanted AND even recommended me some super great locks. Thanks to him I found my dream bike and am able to ride again to my hearts content. Thank you bike doctor for having such amazing staff like Meesha and David, theyre the best!!!
Great staff, super helpful and friendly... and they won't sell you down there river. I went in looking to upgrade my tires to higher pressure slicks and was told to stick tight with the ones I had and just increase the pressure to get what I was looking for short term to save some cash and upgrade only when my tires wore out. Knowing that a sales staff isn't just going to sell me anything to make a buck makes me confident that they have my best interests at heart. Followed up this visit with an online order for several hundred in upgrades to a new bike purchase, had a few post order items to fix/change and the online staff were helpful and responsive in removing a couple of items from my order and combining to orders to ensure they shipped together. All in all, great service. I'll continue to shop here.
Such a fantastic experience here! From the moment I walked in I knew I was in the right place. As soon as Jeffery, the very talented sales associate approached and asked my budget and bike use requirements he got busy. Put me on all kinds of bikes, measured me, adjusted everything till the fit was just right for my body. Jeffery is so knowledgeable about bikes and everything related. Stuff I didn't know, like where not to lock my bike, why I needed the best lock for peace of mind and how helpful lights would be! He made the entire process fun and exactly how I pictured when I decided to spend more money on this type of bike. And I will see them again in a few months for my official tune up (which I was told is the most important) thanks Jeffery I am over the moon happy with my beautiful bike!! Cheers.
I wanted to order a bike helmet and a rear basket, but they didn’t have the helmet in my size. I bought the basket and was told that if they came across the helmet I wanted in my size they’d let me know. Usually that’s code for “see you later”, so went and bought a different helmet somewhere else. Two days later I got a call to let me know they had called around and found my helmet in the size I wanted. This is true customer service. Of course I had to say I bought one already so I couldn’t take it, so I felt bad, but it’s so rare that I experience such amazing customer service that I’ve become jaded. Faith in humanity restored. Thank you so much for going above and beyond. I will definitely be back when I need something and I’ll definitely recommend The Bike Doctor to my friends and family.
Just wanted to say that I had an amazing experience with Jeff. He was very knowledgeable about his craft and left me stunned with the amount of information he provided. He helped me find the right bike for me and encouraged me to try other bikes around town before i made any purchase. 2 weeks later and quite a few test rides later i decided to come back and give the bike i was looking at another solid ride. After my experience in other bike shops I decided that the Norco i was looking at with Jeff would be right for me. I also want to give a shout out to Laurel who also helped me the second time I showed up and was quite helpful and friendly.
I want to give a huge THANK YOU to the mechanic (Paul?) and staff at Bike Doctor. My hydraulic brakes stopped working on a bike tour last Saturday. The store was busy and a sign said bikes being serviced as of the day won't be ready till Thursday. I explained to a female staff/ mechanic (sorry I didn't catch your name) that I need the bike by Wednesday at the latest. She took a quick diagnose and said they will take the bike in and get it ready for Monday. Monday came and I got a call to say it was ready. I'm SO grateful to the staff at Bike Doctor. I highly recommend taking your bike in for servicing. Very friendly and professional.
I had gone to inquire about a potential price match on a bike that I wanted to buy (Aventon Abound). Unfortunately, they did not have it in stock and I ended up purchasing it from another store. The folks at the shop were very courteous and I even had the chance to drop in to buy some accessories. Despite not having bought the bike off of them, they helped me set up the alarm and talked me through the different locking systems. Too often, a lot of the bike shops make you feel dumb. This was not the case with the staff at Bike Doctor. I'll be back to support the store whenever my bike needs any updates!
I bought my bike here a few months ago. I've been back four times for little adjustments (free for a year after purchase). They've always been exceptionally helpful and pleasant, but today they were just magical. I crashed my bike this morning and bent the rear wheel. I arrived within an hour and a half before closing. Ryan did everything he could to get me the best possible price for a new wheel and the bike was ready an hour later! Shout out to Seb as well for all those gear adjustments over the past months. The Bike Doctor really knows how to treat its customers. I left feeling very happy today.
I have visited the shop a number of times picking up things for my commuter bike. Every time I have gone in the staff have been very friendly, happy, and willing to answer all my questions. This is the type of bike store where you can go in with a budget in mind and actually stick to it - they don't try and sell you a million accessories with what you came to buy. They carry a wide range of products and brands. The shop atmosphere is very laid back and not pretentious at all, which is refreshing. I will definitely return and continue to recommend them to my fellow commuters!
Went to buy a single speed chain, none on the floor so employee went in the back and got me one. I noticed it was opened but didn’t think too much of that (bad idea) because why would I question when I ask for something and an employee hands me what seems to be the item I asked for? But anyways, of course turns out to not only be missing half the master link and cut short, it wasn’t even the right chain width! Of course I was on a sailing/biking trip so didn’t notice till it was too late. So when buying things, make sure to double check them even if they’re nice about it.
I needed a new bike after a decade with an old mountain bike from Canadian Tire. Bike Doctor was the perfect place to go! The customer service was amazing - Laurel was super knowledgeable and was very considerate of exactly what I wanted. I needed a bike to get around the city, and their bikes are perfect for exactly that requirement. I was given great advice, was able to test ride a few bikes, and didn't feel any sales pressure. Laurel kept my budget in mind and didn't try to upsell me. I will definitely be recommending Bike Doctor to all my friends.
I totally trusted and LOVED having my bike serviced at The Bike Doctor. I was delighted to see Garneau Bike Doctor open knowing their trusted mechanics followed. I recently had a major servicing done in preparation for a European cycle. I was impressed ++ by the entire experience. Joseph was the mechanic and I wish I could remember the other gentleman who found a way to mount a second water bottle holder for me that nobody else had ever figured out. They were professional and personalized my experience. I will continue to go there always! Thanks guys!
I was in the market for a new bike after my previous bike was stolen. I went to four stores and found the customer service provided by Bike Doctor to be second to none. Eric was great at understanding my needs, answering the many questions I had and taking the time to properly adjust the bike for the test drive. He also encouraged me to compare several options. The prices here are competitive to what I saw around the city. I recommend the Bike Doctor for anyone looking to buy a bicycle especially those of you who are not bicycle savvy like myself.
I bought my first touring bike here last week. I came in not knowing much about what I had needed (not too experienced in cycling), but Erich was able to help me pick out all the accessories and explained each choice to me. He was very friendly and patient, and spent a lot of time going over the details, including reminding me to come back in for the warranty tune-up that came with the bike purchase. I highly recommend this store for their expertise and helpfulness. I will continue to come back to this store for future tune-ups and repairs.
I had a bulging front tire on my bike so I brought it in for a replacement tire and a tune up. When I came back to pick up my bike they changed the back tire (which had no issues) and tried telling me that I didn't bring the bike in with a damaged front tire, they wanted me to pay for the service done to the rear tire which I didn't ask for and the tune up seemed mediocre. Everything was resolved in the end but it was stressful and a waste of time I do not recommend this bike shop as they are not the same shop they used to be.
OH MY GOODNESS! Someone tried to steal my bike another night and took the bolt away which was holding the stem, the handle and front tire. I contacted Bike Doctor if they had a replacement for it since I got my bike from them. After Kyle responded my email, I brought my bike into the shop. He found a replacement and put everything back together right away and he didn't even charge me at all! I was so sad with what happened to my bike. However, Kyle made me extremely happy by his excellent customer service and kindness.
Ordered a Norco bike in June which was delayed in delivery till the New Year due to Covid. The manager offered me a discount to change my order to a new more expensive Flet bike which would arrive in September - so I did. When I went to collect it and pay for it he told me there was a "mis-communication" and no discount was possible. I was very upset and he eventually told me begrudgingly I could have a 5% discount or refund (having waited months for my new bike) - take it or leave it. So rude and unprofessional.
I recently purchased a bike from here and received such wonderful service from both the sales staff and mechanics. Alistair in sales helped me find the perfect size and bike model for my needs. A few weeks after the purchase, I brought my bike into service to get something adjusted, and Ellie in service helped me right away. She did not charge me for the quick adjustment, and the bike was better than when I bought it! I certainly recommend this bike shop to anyone. Friendly and highly knowledgeable people here.
My bicycle handbrake broke a few days ago, so I called around the city and everyone was saying I had to wait a week before they'd look at it. However at the Bike Doctor they said to bring it in and they'll have a quick look. I initially thought my handbrake would need a complete replacement, but they found I only needed a few parts replaced and just charged me for those small parts. The were very speedy and friendly and I had my bike fixed within the hour for a very reasonable price! Much appreciated!
The sales person I spoke with was super helpful. I told him that I knew nothing about bikes and he went on to give me detailed explanations of the different types of bikes and their components. He probably spent an hour with me until the shop closed then told me to check some other shops as well then come back. I ended up buying elsewhere just because I found another bike that this shop didn't offer but I'll definitely come back to Bike Dr for service and accessories because of this experience.
I called the shop before arriving to confirm if the mechanics were busy and confirm waiting times. The person that answered suggested to go and chat to the mechanic. As soon as I got in, I could see they were at 110% capacity (extremely busy). Took them 15 minutes to complete a 15 second check on the bike, to practically tell me that the bike would take 4 days to get fixed... (understand how busy the store was but I would've decided to go somewhere else if I knew how busy the mechanics were)
This is the bike shop to go to. Each time I show up they take make me feel wanted and listened to. Very knowledgeable staff, and great selection of products. The mechanics there are very helpful, and were able to explain what to expect with my bike service. I really appreciate that they were upfront about what servicing was needed without ripping me off. I was prepared to spend much more money, but they showed how replacing one part would make everything run like new. Thanks bike doctor!
Came in and was extremely impressed with the service provided by the team here. I had a handful of questions regarding my bike that I brought in and Erich answered all my questions with so much patience and really took the time to explain things to me. Earl and Grey were also super knowledgeable and kind as I was browsing the shop. I've called in a few other times since my visit for other inquires and received exceptional service through this channel as well! I'll definitely be back
Bought a hybrid bike online. Got an email from the manager an hour later to say the price has gone up and I need to pay $63 more when I come to pick up the bike. Great. Then I got another email from the same manager 2 hours later to say they made another mistake and actually the bike is sold out and not available any more. Double great. I’m still waiting for my refund 3 days later. I can’t comment about anything else but based on my experience the business seems very shady.
I bought a bike from here in June and I have been loving it! The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful, and I got a free tune up with my bike purchase! When I came in for the tune up, I didn't need an appointment or anything and the mechanics did it on the spot immediately. I was able to get everything I needed to start biking, helmet, lights, gloves and fenders etc, which was nice so I didn't have to go around town to get the essentials. Will definitely come back!!
I was in this shop browsing for a bike and was unbelievably happy with the quality of customer service I received. The gentleman, Eric (I think?) was able to explain everything really simply. I hadn't been on a bike in 5+ years and he was really patient and anticipated all my questions. This is the kind of shop you keep going back to not just for the products but the service that comes along with it. Will recommend this place to all my friends. Thank you Bike Doctor!
Recently got into cycling, and I’m truly clueless. Needed a place to take my bike and trust that they’ll suggest what’s needed and not have it come off sales-y. Quick google search brought up their shop, with great reviews. After 2 visits (within 4 days lol), while they patiently answered my knowingly stupid and naive questions I can honestly say their star rating is well deserved. The staff are kind, knowledgeable and eager to get you on your bike. Highly recommend.
Brought in my roadbike thinking that the brake pads were worn out, cause braking was getting weaker and weaker. They put the bike on the stand, said my brake pads were fine, then recommended replacing the cables for over $200. I decided to think about it. Looked at my bike more closely and adjusted the brake cable tension on my calipers. My brakes are grabbing harder than ever. Didn't think they'd simply recommend a bogus job... they just lost my trust.
Outstanding service and knowledge! The staff at Bike Doctor really took the time to help me get the perfect bike for my life and price point. I could not be happier. I never felt pressured, they encouraged me to do long test rides and really get a feel for the bikes. I came and went several times and they remembered me each time and picked up right where we left off. Super friendly, super knowledgeable and patient. I would highly recommend to anyone!
I neglected my bike for a number of years and recently decided to start replacing/fixing rusted and worn out parts. I've visited bike doctor multiple times for parts and advice and they've been extremely helpful and friendly. Top notch customer service as well as a good sized inventory are the reasons why I will continue to take my business here. Further away from me than other bike shops but worth the commute. Definitely recommend! Cheers
I needed a 10 mins adjustment. All the other bike shops said that I needed to get an appointment and they were all fully booked for 2 weeks. A very cute lady on the phone offered me stop by and they could give it a look. And another beautiful lady fixed my bike in 10 mins. They didn’t charge me anything even though I tried to tip at least, they didn’t even accept that either. Really good humans work for this shop. Thank you.
These people are good to deal with. My wife and I are middle aged and won't be entering the Tour de France anytime soon. We feel out of place at a lot of the bike shops in town which are clearly focused on high performance, serious cyclists. These guys/girls are approachable and friendly and calling them for information never gets me brushed off. I'd buy there again, but the bikes they sold us might just last a lifetime.
I needed my gears adjusted and Meesha was able to do it on the spot. She was friendly, knowledgeable and knows her stuff! Super impressed and will be back for a tune up. The store is spacious has a great selection of bike accessories. Bought my kryptonite new York bike lock from them last year and the male staff spent time explaining all the different types of levels of security. Awesome customer service.
Absolutely happy with the bike I bought at the Bike Doctor and their service!! Dave was amazing, very patient, and knowledgeable about bikes. I wasn't sure which model I wanted (I'm not an experienced cyclist), Dave asked about how I plan to use it and suggested the Norco Indie 3 bike, which turned out to exactly fit my needs. One month of riding it and I can't be happier
Just purchased two bikes yesterday. The service was amazing. Becky's explanation of touring bikes was great. We looked around most of the bike shops in the area and found that for what we were looking for it is one of the lower prices. The final sales person (forgot his name) was also great. Yes we have to wait a week for the mechanics to do a safety check but that's fine with us.
The Bike Doctor staff are a killer crew. If I pop in, the tech will often identify the issue on the spot and will tune it up while I browse at no charge. Shoutout to Mike, Linda, Ellie, and the tech with the dragon t-shirt! PS. Cred to Ben for his exemplary patience while teaching me how to tighten my brake hood/lever. I swear I'm more competent after I've had my coffee. Cheers!
The guys at Bike Dr. were great. Super passionate and knowledgeable staff who helped find my fiance a gravel bike that is perfect for her. We went to many bike shops and she rode 5 bikes. These guys had one the best selection of bikes, and the ability to find a bike that fit very nicely and was right on our price point. She is super stoked on her felt broam! Thanks Bike Dr.
We are very happy with the service. We bought a NORCO bike during COVID-19 that needed splash guards installed. Due to reduced staff it supposed to take two days to install. When after 4 days my bike wasn't ready I expressed my disappointment that I may miss my bike trip with family, one of the employees - Grey offered to bring bike to my home when ready, and he did.
Excellent service. Would highly recommend this place. Bought a new bike online. Excellent communication from the tech who was assembling the bike. Hand delivered to my door. Covid protocols were followed. Gray took time to go over the features of my new bike, made sure the overall fit was correct and that l was happy with the product. A+ service all around.
Recently spent $160 for tune up. Still had to wait one week to have it done. I wanted it to get things done properly. After riding my first session, I noticed they installed directional tire in wrong direction as well as totally messed up rear derailleur position. Seriously??? Those are so beginner mistake. I really wish they pay attention to their work.
Last week I bought my awesome new bike at this shop and so far I´m really satisfied! Jeff explained me everything in detail and he was very patient with me. He has a lot of experience and knows what is his talking about. Also he gave me some recommendations for nice bike tours. He and his colleagues are my new bike experts of trust! Thanks a lot guys
I was looking for a particular set of panniers and was told by another Vancouver shop that it would take two weeks to get them in. The Bike Doctor had them in stock and they were at my door within two days (Canada Post - expedited). They were very responsive with changes to another order I made. Great service and I'd definitely recommend them.
Best bike shop along Broadway!!! Stopped in to the ship to get my bike checked and the crew gave me all the time and attention in the world and answered all my questions. Truly professional staff and I couldn't have been happier. I now have a new all time favorite experience at a customer at any shop I've been in. …
Had my new brake levers and shifters replaced yesterday, first time using their service dept. It was great, from service counter and the technician who worked on my bike. When I was in the shop a gentleman named Eric and I started to have a conversation, which made me feel welcomed, thank you all for making this visit a great experience.
The staff at The Bicycle Doctor are fantastic! At the end of a very busy day they were accommodating and professional. Ryan set me up with a fantastic cog set to replace my old disaster. He and Sebastian were a force fixing every bicycle in sight with efficiency and vigour. I highly recommend this store for their character and conduct.
I've been taking my bikes to these guys for years. They always have time to listen, address my concerns, and have never tried to sell me stuff i don't need. Their prices for products are not the cheapest in the city (hence the 4 start rating), but their service team is knowledgeable, quick, and efficient. Thanks Bike Doctor!
Checked out a number of bike shops in Vancouver but Maddie at The Bike Doctor was far and away the most helpful person on our bike buying/outfitting journey. Great selection of product (there were a few things that other places around town didn't even have), incredibly friendly, and knowledgeable too. Thank you Maddie!
Customer service 11/10: they really took the extra step to ensure I was a satisfied customer. From selecting the right bike for me to messing up my date for pickup and then having some strings pulled to have my bike ready a week before scheduled! Definately felt valued as a customer. Thanks for the great experience.
Great costumer service!! Gray and the team were incredible at setting me up with the exact bike I was looking for. They were able to explain everything to me in a way that I understood it, and went above and beyond in making sure my kit was exactly what I needed. Friendly people, great products, highly recommend!
A huge THANK YOU to Benjamin! My bike was making an annoying clicking sound and not only did he find and fix it, but he made a bunch of other minor tweaks and I feel like I left with a brand new bike that is now an absolute pleasure to ride! Incredible, fast, friendly and affordable service! Highly recommend!
It is a bit pricey if you want them to install bike parts for you. However, they let me use their tools to install some new parts I got for my bike. Ryan the senior technician is an awesome guy! There should be more people like him in this world, so genuine and helpful! Thanks Ryan great to meet ya!
Very busy place, but solid customer service, abundant availability of parts and accessories. Technicians know what they are doing and are in clear communication with the customer prior to proceeding with your job. This is from an ex bike technician during my teenage years! Good job and well done!
I had an old bike in need of some major work, and Meesha did an amazing job giving it an overhaul! I was nervous going to a mechanic; it was so great to deal with another woman! She really knows her stuff! My bike has never run so well! I'll definitely come back for her to do my tune-ups!
The bike doctor was fantastic to deal with when buying a bike for my daughter a few weeks ago. Jeff went above and beyond to educate us on the right bike. We are very happy with the bike and all the follow up service to outfit us with the right accessories. Highly recommend.
Good experience in the store, staff extremely friendly and patient. They took the time and answered all my questions. I was looking for locks and they have a variety of selections, most models I've seen in my recent visits to various bike shops around downtown.
The manager Jeff spent around 1.5 hours with me showing me what bike suits my needs, basic maintenance, and gear I would need. Very helpful to me as I'm a novice. They are super friendly and by the sounds of it, they treat their employees right as well.
Went to the Bike Doctor to fix up a bike. They assessed what was wrong with my bike, and fixed it to my liking. They did offer packages but did not force them on me. The final price was the price that they initially quoted to me, no additional prices.
Great customer service here. Showed up on Canada Day in need of a brake adjustment. The mechanic was super fast and helpful, made the adjustment and switched out a couple of new parts I was buying. Done in under 20 mins and prices very reasonable.
Went in to find parts for my Frankenbike. Found everything I needed and staff were very knowledgeable and friendly. It gets quite busy so be ready for longer waits. I recommend you bring you bike in to show what you need fixed or replaced,
I was recommended here by a friend and fellow bike enthusiast. I purchased my first bike here (hybrid road/mountain bike) and I'm very happy with my choice! I’ve been back many times for maintenance (since the bike came with a free service
The staff were super helpful and friendly. They didn't make me feel uncomfortable for not knowing x/y/z about bikes, and explained things without being condescending. Great to be able to test ride the bikes. Would recommend :)
Great mechanics working at the shop. Provides very clear answers and the various degree of work required to get your bike working. Does not pressure you into fixing every tiny issue. Will be returning again in the future!
Great experience, I'd wandered around this 2 block area, where there are many bike stores and then walked into this place. They had everything I needed, answered all my questions and never tried to upsell me in any way.
I really appreciated that this store took the time to call and email me to confirm my appointment. The service was great and Kyle was very friendly. Couldn't be happier that my bike was checked and serviced on the spot.
I had brake callipers which were recalled by manufacturer and manufacturer told me to contact the official dealer for a free replacement. I went to other two bike shops first because they were close to my work, and at
Many thanks for fixing my gear cable today even though I knew you had a huge number of bikes that you were working on. I really appreciated being able to continue my ride. Very grateful and impressed with your service.
These peeps will fix you up! After destroying a tire on my way to brunch I took my beloved bike in to Bike Doctor and they had it fixed before I even finished my mimosa(not quite, maybe it was the third mimosa?).
Super knowledgeable and professional crew! Went in after a crash with my rear derailleur misaligned and they were able to fix it very quickly. Also have a wide selection of bike equipments and maintenance tools.
The repairs to my bike were not as expensive as I thought and Meesha worked on my bike was very polite. She gave me good advice on bike care. She was very professional and I will come back. Thank you.
Great local bike shop with friendly staff and awesome bikes to choose from. Recently picked up two Felt commuter bikes and Maddy and Paul were beyond helpful with the process from start to finish!
A staff helps me to find a great bike that suitable for me, also help me to install all accessories to my new bike on same day. Knowledgeable friendly staffs. Thanks for the excellent services!
The bike repair quoted me $550 to fix a bike that had been poorly stored & 14 day turnaround. I checked the bike doctor for a 2nd opinion. They fixed it for $220 in 2 days. Awesome service.
The staff were incredibly friendly. One employee who helped us named Fluer was very knowledgeable on the bike types and helpful towards us. We have found a great bike. Totally recommend.
I could not be happier with my experience getting my shifter with a stick cable fixed today. Great service and prices. They are the best!! I love this shop and will always come back.
I took my bike in to check the front derailleur and Benjamin quickly saw it was something that could be repaired easily and did it on the spot! Thanks so much.
I needed assistance with getting a trailer hitch to fit my bike. Erik and Mike were very friendly and helpful. Will be back for sure! Awesome service!
The service at The Bike Doctor was AMAZING!! it is very nice once you find stores like this where humanity are more important
They tightened my bike’s breaks on the spot, just walking in, and gave me some useful advice on top of it!
Great price and knowledgeable staff. Really what else is there to say!
